My name is Alina . I am an adopted daughter of the leader of dauntless : max . I have a sister who is his biological daughter whose name is rose . Our mom dead two years ago because she slipped a secret and got killed .
Dad couldn't stop it because that was the rule . Tragedy , I and my sister both fall in love with the same man : duke Alden. He is one of my father's best lieutenant .
We fall in love with him but he probably doesn't know about it. Today is his birthday and my sister is choosing tomorrow . I still have to wait for a year .
I don't know what to get for him. However I know how to make chocolate and make those stars with paper . I started to make those stars a month ago and now I have a big bottle of them.
They represent lucky but a few of dauntless here believe that. Duke was transferred from Candor and he should believe that .
"I don't think that he will like your gift." Sister laughs coldly.
"I think that hand made has more meaning." I shrug. "I don't mind that he doesn't like it but I still want to make it."
Sister is wearing a shoulder exposed dress and she has very heavy make up on.
"I am confident that he will like my gift and very soon that we will fall in love with each other ." Sister raises her eyebrows
"Then good luck." I say
After we are both ready, we walk to the cafeteria . Everyone are around duke , Lisa walks toward us .
"He is not going to accept any gifts." Lisa shakes her head .
"I am so confident that he will like mine ." Sister continues to walk to him
I follow behind her . Then when we approach duke . Duke looks at us.
"Hello Alina and rose." He smiles at us
"I bought you a watch." Sister hands out that watch.
Duke shakes his head . He refused the gift. I don't know will he like mine or not.
"I made the starts and chocolate for you. I forget to get you anything but I hand made them." I am blushing
"You handmade them? In Candor , no one ever made those stars for me and chocolate . Oh I love them." Duke smiles at me . "Did you get hurt? You shouldn't make them."
"I am fine . I just don't know will you like them." I am going to cry
He wipes my tears off for me and takes my chocolate and stars. He takes one piece of chocolate and puts in his mouth.
"So good ."he says
Alan comes closer to us . Dad is also there
"You made chocolate again Alina!" Max says . "Can I have one?"
"No sir , you can have any other gifts but these two are mine . I am only taking these two." Duke puts chocolate and stars into his pocket. "Thank you for coming Alina ."
He brushes my hair to the side . I am blushing. I like him so much since the first time that he entered the dauntless compound .
"It's late. You guys need to go to bed . Rose that you are choosing tomorrow ." Dad pats her shoulder . "You know what you have to choose."
"I know dad." Sister is looking at duke . "You know who I want ."
"You have to get it not stolen it." Dad says
I walk out of the room with duke . Lisa wraps her arms around my arm.
"Alisa can you please teach me how to make chocolate? I want to make them for Alan ." Lisa pouts. "Please ."
"Lisa , it is too late!" Duke rolls his eyes
Lisa is duke's younger sister . She also transferred . Lisa seems sad .
"It's fine . I am not sleepy at all . Lets me teach you now ." I say.
I treat Lisa so well that she really likes me . If I like duke , then I have to like Lisa . We walk back to my apartment.
"Don't be too late ." Duke warns
"Happy birthday Mr Alden and we will be fine ." I wave at him.
I close the door . I sigh with relief . He likes my gift.
"My brother doesn't like those expensive gift. I know that he will like yours ." Lisa smiles at me . "You are so nice ."
"Yeah I know that Candor likes star. However I wasn't sure " I say. "My Candor friends told me at school."
"Yeah , they represent luck but my brother never receive them so he was this surprised ." Lisa sighs
Sister comes back. She stands in front of me.
"Why did he accepted yours but not me ." Sister screams
"My brother will never like your gift and you." Lisa folds her arms.
"You shut up." Sister points at Lisa
I stand forward . I don't want other to protect me . Lisa is angry now .
"Don't put her inside this . It is our thing. You need to watch yourself . No one like your temper ." Smirk at her . "Except those one who see authority above anything else ."
"You will not be one of dauntless . I can promise you. You will be factionless no matter what." Sister slaps my face
I am shocked . She never hurt me ever . Lisa pushes her away. I am crying . I run away . I run above the pit . I don't want to stay here . I wait for the train to arrive . However I choose to walk alongside the track. I walk faster and faster until, I walk to the Factionless sector .
"Alina?" Someone is calling me
A factionless man stands up. He knows me ? He isn't wearing dauntless clothes .
"You know me ?" I frown.
"Yes I knew you. I knew your mom." Man nods at me . "I was one of the abnegation. Your mom is in abnegation but why you are in dauntless ."
"No, I will never be abnegation. You are lying!" I am over emotional.
He wraps his hand around my wrist. I want to fight it. However I know that I shouldn't fight anyone .
"Let's her go." A voice appears behind me
Duke pushes the man away and he wraps his shirt around me . Lisa is also here .
"Why did you run away. I was there!" Lisa is crying. "God , I ran to get my brother ."
"What hell are you doing!" Duke shouts at me . "Why did you run away!"
" my sister is right. I am not worth it. He told me that my parent are from abnegation . I am not worth for anyone to worry about me !" I am crying
Suddenly, duke grabs my face into his hands and kisses me . I try to push him away.
"Shut up. You are worth it. I was worried about you like shit." He points at me . "I was worried if I lost you, what will I do!"
"Why do you care! Why do you fucking care?" I say
"It's because ……" he stops for a second . "I care about you."
I don't have anything to say. Duke shakes his head .
"You can't even admit that you love this girl." The factionless man says . "What kind of dauntless that you are ."
"I care about her . That's all." Duke turns around and walks away
"Come back with us . You can stay with me all you want." Lisa wraps me into her arms . "Don't mind about my brother . He was so guilty about not catching you."
We get to the dauntless compound . Max is standing with my sister
"Apologize now ." Dad is angry. "Why did you slap your sister !"
"I am not going to say sorry," sister says .
"I don't need you to apologize . I will stay with Lisa ." I say coldly. "Dad I am fine ."
I walk away . Lisa brings me to her room. Duke is sitting there
"Brother , she already said sorry." Lisa sits down. "Please brother don't be angry."
"If he killed you, how can I know ? If he took you away and did something horrible , how can I know !" Duke stands up.
"You are no body to me . Why should you care!" I say. "Maybe he is right. Maybe you are a miserable coward ."
I run upstair to Lisa's room. I cry so loudly. I lay in bed and covered my head with sheet.
The door opens and Lisa comes in.
"I am sorry that my brother was that emotional . I know that he likes you. I can see it from his eyes ." Lisa says . "He asked me did you ever made chocolate for Jason coulter . He was jealous of you and him. However you are still young and he doesn't want to stop you from choosing what is right." Lisa hugs me .
"I don't want him to act so selfless . He actually is very selfish." I say.
"I know . He will work on it . He told me to let you trust him." Lisa brushes my hair to the side .
I fall into sleep eventually. When I am awake , Lisa is sleeping . I sneak downstair outside of the room.
"Alan , I love her but she has one year before choosing. I don't want her to stuck here with me ." Duke is saying.
"You know that she loves you. You know that she doesn't care ." Alan sighs . "Just trust her and yourself ."
"I will work on it," duke says .
He loves me . That's all I need to know . I walk back to lisa's room and sleep again.
"Are you okay!" She turns around
"I am fine . Thank you." I smile at her
"Sleep now , we have to get up early tomorrow ." Lisa says
I finally fall into sleep again. When I wake up, it is morning. We have to go to the choosing ceremony. I take a shower before dressed up again.
