CHAPTER 3
Clanging Mechanical Arms
Izuku felt nothing but total guilt and embarrassment during his trip heading home. He remembered those warning that the Pro Heroes warned him about and they were serious about it, if he ever pulled a stunt like that one more time it's jail time despite his age. And another is that there were a few people talking about him and they were making fun of him and some were complimenting his skills in saving someone's life.
That made Izuku embarrassed since he doesn't like getting all the attention. He prefers to be alone since that's what he always has been since he never got a Quirk of his own.
Once Izuku reached his apartment room, he sighed weakly with his eyes looking more tired than his body. "I hope Mom and Dad will understand why I'm late. I just hope they won't get mad, or talk about what happened." Once he hoped all that, he entered the room, only to see his parents watching the news. "I'm back. Sorry for being late…" he greeted.
Both of his parents rose from the couch and neared their son, with extreme disappointment on their faces. "Izuku, before I start asking where have you been, let me ask you this: WHAT WERE YOU THINKING!" Inko yelled in a very worrying way.
Izuku knew that this might happened.
"W-What…?" Izuku only said.
"Don't you dare think of us as idiots, Izuku?" Hisashi sternly responded. "Why on Earth would you do something like that? I mean, are you trying to get killed?" he questioned.
"W-What are you guys talking about? I saved someone, but I was left off with a warning." Izuku explained. "But I did save someone, and that's it."
"That's it?" Inko repeated, baffled a bit. "Maybe you should go see the news then." She pointed to the TV, and Izuku watched in surprise that he knew that there was more to what he did.
"Please tell us! Why did that kid even launch himself like a rocket without a Quirk?" a reporter asked Kamui Woods and Death Arms, who were still annoyed about what happened earlier.
"It's obvious that kid wanted to get killed anyway." Death Arms gruffed. "Luckily, the only thing that he did was just saved some skinny guy, and was taken off by that damn villain all the sudden! But he saved anyway."
"If he is ever watching this, I hope he learned his lesson about rushing into problems that can be only solved by us heroes." Kamui Woods warned. "We will do our part as Pro Heroes to make sure that this issue will never happen once again!" Eventually, after that little speech, both heroes were being interviewed by the press as they are busy.
A reporter was viewed on TV. "Well, aside from the Pro Heroes apologizing, we did have footage on what seems to be the same green-haired kid that rushed in the scene and saved that civilian. Can we get live footage on that?"
The screen flashed to a video where Izuku jumped in all a sudden as he saved the skinny man's life after Sledgehammer slammed the ground with his weapon, creating a wind gust afterward. Eventually, it was replayed a few times, and there was only one word that was audible. "NO!" came to Izuku.
The boy could've never been so embarrassed, as he sat down and slouched on the couch to embrace his embarrassment since it was already on live television. Despite knowing that his Quirk isn't shown, he still can feel the embarrassment.
"This is so embarrassing," Izuku muttered. "Who's even filming it? I'm glad that my Quirk isn't shown on camera, but this is so embarrassing to look at!" he whined mentally.
"Either this kid is a hero or just some wannabe cosplayer who's just trying to be a hero. Whatever it is, I hope every kid out there will learn this as a lesson from now on." The reporter joked about what Izuku did, and the news scene was already cut off.
Hisashi looked at his son, still disappointed. "So, did we learn something today?" he asked.
Izuku's answer only was. "But I did save someone, regardless of what I did! There wasn't a single hero to save him, so I have to jump in." Izuku answered.
"But it doesn't mean you can get off the hook for what you did, which happened right?" Izuku nodded, knowing that his son was given a warning by someone else. "Good. At least they did that part of their job. But I'm still very disappointed in you, young man! You should know better."
Izuku looked down. His father has a point actually.
"But..." Izuku jolted his head to hear another reason. "Since you did save someone from impending death, I guess you are off the hook at this house. But if we ever see you do that one more time, I will not hesitate to ground you for a week. Understand, son?"
Izuku nodded. "Good. Now go get a shower and join us for dinner after. I bought take out."
Izuku walked out of the living room and headed to the bathroom. At least he learned something from what he did. He only hopes that once he gets to school tomorrow, it won't be much of a big deal for everyone.
000000
When the next day came, Izuku was already getting nervous once he entered the gates of Aldera, this time he was early and didn't use his Quirk to fly himself to school. Once he is at the hallways, he saw a few other students snickering, whispering, and even looking at him funny at what he had done last night. Izuku can feel his embarrassment rising and slightly hear all the mutters from his ears.
"Midoriya really saved that skinny guy's life? What a weirdo…"
"When will he ever learn that Quirkless people won't get a pat on the back for saving someone?"
"Heh. I can tell that he's already embarrassed from last night."
"It actually makes me sick that he saved someone. He doesn't even have a Quirk, to begin with."
"I hope Bakugo gets in here. Mind as well teach him a lesson or something…"
"Hope that Quirkless idiot goes to jail. He violated an important law."
"It should've been him that was killed, he's still alive for being useless."
All those comments were like a mixed bag of peanuts in Izuku's mind. Some were insults that he was being foolish for dreaming to become a Quirkless Hero which ended badly now. While some were just painful insults he managed to save someone without a Quirk. And there were some that are death threats, which is really painful to hear.
Izuku can only lower his head in shame and pretend that everyone isn't in the hallways. All he can do is sulk about everything that he heard from everyone, and just accept it as punishment. He only hoped that when will this childish gossip end soon.
Sadly, and for sure, there is no answer for that.
"Hey, Midoriya. A word if that's cool, or else." A girl blocked Izuku's way, and she sounded obnoxious. "So, big talk here, how did you able to save someone's weak-ass while you, a Quirkless loser, barged in to save the day?" Her friends giggled from behind. And it only made Izuku more nervous than embarrassed.
"Hey now, let's not ask a question like that Mimi." A rough-accented boy lay his arms around Izuku and held him tighter, as the jerk formed a cynical smile. "Tell me, Midoriya. Is your Quirk being a chicken, or transforming into a chicken."
Well, there was a Pro Hero with a Chicken Quirk and made him look like a joke, so that was one of the weakest statements out there, to begin with.
"P-Please, I-I need to get to class." Izuku was able to free himself. "I really need to get going but…" before he could go any further without paying attention, he suddenly tripped on the floor, but was saved by a burly student in time.
"You better watch where you're going, Midoriya!" the student said, who aggressively pushed back Izuku as he quickly stands. "Tripping on the floor won't let another Quirkless loser like you save your life!"
And it made the hallways roar with laughter.
Izuku was never been this embarrassed ever since he wanted to go to UA as his future plans after middle school. However, this is different and it felt different. Izuku wanted to cry, but he just holds on to his emotions, and just looked down at the floor in sadness, while the waves of laughter go on and on. What a bunch of assholes…
"Can this can get any worse?"
"DEKU!" a loud voice boomed, causing everyone to go silent. "Where are you, you piece of shit! You and I need to have a talk!"
It's Bakugo. And he sounds really, really mad. Izuku can only tell why, and it might be the news of what he did. He only hoped that he will just walk away from the crowd and just keep quiet.
Eventually, he accidentally bumped into someone, which made him lose his life now. "What the… Hey! Bakugo! I found Midoriya, and he's trying to get away from you! Quick!"
Why. Why did he do that, to begin with? Izuku's fears are now bottling up, thanks to asshole number five getting in his way.
Suddenly, Izuku was grabbed and was turned in a forceful, aggressive way as he faced an angry Bakugo in front of him. Bakugo's expression already spelled danger, and a missile that spelled 'BEAT DEKU' in other ways of fear, making Izuku more scared to even see him now.
"H-Hi, Kacchan." Izuku stammered. "I-I was just –"
"Don't get me that crap now, Deku! I wasn't done talking to you, nerd!" Bakugo roared, interrupting him. "I saw what you did last night, and it was all over the news! Do you really think you can prove to all of us that you can be a Quirkless hero by just saving some skinny-ass loser like you? Do you think you can fool everyone here? Huh? YOU THINK YOU CAN FOOL ME?!" he yelled angrily.
Izuku was whimpering, and he couldn't speak after what he said. This gained some cynical smiles.
"Oh my God, he's actually scared."
"Come on, Bakugo! Show that loser who's boss!"
Izuku tried to speak up properly, but only stuttered his words. "I'm sorry, Kacchan. I-I won't d-do it again. I p-promise…"
"BULLSHIT!" He slammed Izuku by the lockers behind him, as he pinned him there with his right hand raised. "You think apologizing to me will make it better, nerd?" he smiled wickedly. "Guess what, Deku! I'm going to make you learn your lesson, BY FORCE!"
Izuku watched his right hand spark some explosions as a warning sign. Izuku's pupils are shrunken and he has nothing to do except get a painful treatment of pain to make him learn from his tormentor. Izuku just accept it as a lesson he deserved, but this made his body, and his mind, say otherwise.
Moments before a hand impacted his face, Izuku suddenly pushed Bakugo away with his hands due to his sudden fears reacting to his nerves. Everyone, and Izuku, was shocked to watch the ash-blonde bully get pushed away as he fell and slide to the ground all the way to the wall.
Everyone was surprised to see the events turned upside-down. Izuku, on the other hand, was afraid of what he did. He pushed away someone that was going to attack him. He pushed away his childhood friend. He pushed Bakugo, with enough strength.
"Oh no…" Izuku started to get worried at what he did. "What have I done!"
"Bakugo!" one of his cronies, which is the one whose fingers can extend, rushed to his aid. "Dude, are you alright?"
Izuku looked at his hands in horror and narrowed at the wristbands. "Did my Quirk react when Kacchan tried to hit me? But why?"
"Oh my god, Midoriya! What the hell did you do?!" the one with wings asked, glaring at him.
"I… I…"
"He assaulted Bakugo, that's what he did!" a blue-haired short girl shouted. "That useless Midoriya was too chicken to get his lesson!" it was self-defense, moron. What did you expect?
This caused everyone to whisper amongst themselves about what they have seen with their own eyes. Izuku was scared at this point that he knew what he did was completely wrong. Kid deserves a pat on the back for what he did: Stepping up to the bully. Unless that's what he did.
"What is going on here?!" a loud voice boomed, and it was deeper. Everyone stopped talking and noticed the school counselor, whose face spelled annoyance and less caring, appeared. "I thought that this hallway was quiet, but I can hear a lot of unnecessary noises!" he sighed. "Alright, what happened!"
Before Izuku could speak, someone else got to him. "Midoriya assaulted Bakugo! He didn't even do anything!" that was a lie, Izuku did it for self-defense. Assholes, am I right?
The counselor raised an eyebrow and stared at Izuku. "Is this true, Midoriya?" his tone sounded cold.
Before Izuku could speak and defend himself, he was once again interrupted by another voice. "I did it! It wasn't him."
Everyone immediately looked at Bakugo, who somehow stood from the ground and walked his way towards Izuku, but stopped. They were shocked to see Bakugo, the best of the best in the shittiest school they are in now, defending the weakest links.
"I was the one who started this mess. I was just asking shitty Deku for a notebook for me to copy some damn notes. And I hope everyone will let that sink in, too." His hands were smoking when he gripped them. Everyone saw this as a warning, and they all kept quiet and nodded in agreement.
"Of course, it had to be that." The counselor touched the bridge of his nose. "Okay… Midoriya, you are free. Bakugo, this will be your ninth warning from me, but I won't hesitate to give you detention. As for everyone, get to class now!"
Once he left, everyone started to move their feet and get to their classrooms before the bell rings. Bakugo walked past Izuku, who immediately warned him by cutting him off. "You got lucky shitty Deku, cause this ain't happening again."
Once Bakugo left, one of his cronies stares at him for a while and said. "Jesus Midoriya, you are a freak!" he stormed off to meet up with Bakugo.
"Noted…" is what Izuku muttered to himself, and get a move on too for class.
000000
As class ended once again, Izuku left the room in silence. Despite what happened earlier, there were a lot of people that are still talking about what he did to Bakugo, since their disgusted and angered faces say otherwise. Izuku just shook it off, and quickly left the building.
Once Izuku left the gate, he stopped as he sighed in relief, "Glad that was over. The last thing that I needed is something to shake off from what I did…" Izuku to walk once again until he suddenly bumped into a large person.
"Oh! Uh… I-I'm sorry, I didn't know that you were…" Izuku stopped talking after he realized who was Infront of him. He gasped in realization. "Wait… All Might?!"
"HA HA HA! Yes, indeed I am, young man." The tall, muscular smiling man who is in fact All Might responded in a gleeful tone. "I should be apologizing since I, too, didn't know where I was going."
"I-I can't believe it that I'm seeing All Might in person for the second time!" Izuku was surprised to see this, and his smile widened. "What are you doing here, All Might? Shouldn't you be going on a patrol, or do stop a robbery?"
All Might laughed at his questions. "Young man, I may be a hero, but we do need a break out of it, too. Besides, there are a lot of Pro Heroes around in Japan to solve the issue by themselves." He stated. "Justice may never rest, but we heroes do need to rest since it's all hard work."
"I… I understand…" Izuku was embarrassed by his questions.
"Don't be embarrassed now, young man. The reason I am here is that I wanted to see you." All Might proclaimed why he was here in the first place, surprising Izuku.
"You? Here to see me?" Izuku was confused by his statement but remained calm about it. However, he started to ramble some words like. "Are you here to talk about what happened yesterday? I already said that I did it for a reason, but I know what I said is wrong. I should've learned my place from what I said that!" he felt like he did a huge mistake. "Or is it a punishment that I will be serving? I mean, I can take it regardless since what I did was against the law and…"
As Izuku keeps on rambling at a quiet deadpanned All Might, the latter noticed that his right cheekbone was letting out the steam of smoke. His eyes widened as he knew that this is bad. "Crap, I'm out of the time limit. I need to interrupt this kid for now."
"Uh, young man!" All Might quickly interrupt, silencing Izuku. "While those are very weird questions despite your bravery from last night, there will be no punishment given to your actions, which is also why I'm here to talk to you."
Izuku was confused at what his idol said. "W-Wait… What are you saying, All Might?"
"What am I saying, Young Midoriya, is that you have something in you that is very powerful, and allow to explain it in a…" however, the Symbol of Peace realized that his entire body started to smoke, almost covering his body as he held his gut in pain. "Holy shit, damn it…"
A large smoke was emitted around All Might's body, which also blocked Izuku's vision. Izuku waved the smoke away and looked terrified at what happened to his idol. "All Might! What happened to… AAAAHHHHHH!"
The terrified scream of Izuku Midoriya was answered when the smoke cloud started to fade away, which shows a lanky, skinny man with blonde hair in front of him. His appearance right now makes him almost look like All Might, but smaller.
Izuku stared at the frail man with fear on his face. "W-Who are you?! What happened to All Might?!"
Fanning the rest of the smoke, the frail man explained. "As you can see, I am All Might. This is how I look like, apparently…"
Izuku couldn't believe this. "T-That's impossible! But All Might is strong!
All Might sighed. "I know that this is too much, but please, calm down." He reassured Izuku. "I'll be explaining all this once we go somewhere more private. We can't let anyone know."
Izuku just stayed silent, due to the fact that his idol looked different. Regardless, he just went silent, which is also a sign of agreement. This is going to be a long day for him.
000000
Izuku was busy focusing on his fast-running mind after what he just learned from his idol, as he heard everything from All Might's explanation from point to end on top of a convenience store's rooftop.
All Might once fought a villain five years ago, which led him to be in a critical condition where he got a large, nasty, horrendous wound. This led him to have his respiratory system and digestive tracts in a wreck, he even loses his entire stomach. As of now, he can only transform into his muscular form for only about three hours. However, if he goes over the time limit, he will be forced to revert back and lose some blood.
Furthermore, he explained the truth that he was the one that Izuku saved from Sledgehammer's rampage. He explained that he was trying to stop him, but he had already gone over the limit to his skinny form. However, before he could accept death, he was suddenly saved by a 'screaming kid who suddenly flew in and saved my life, which is Izuku himself. It made the latter surprised that he managed to save his childhood hero.
Izuku was actually still trying to cope with the idea that All Might is now what he is now. And to say in easy words: He can only try to cope with the fact that the hero that he admired is now a sickly person, who is still pushing himself to the fullest to save others. In addition to what his idol explained, he is also not allowed to tell anyone about his condition.
While it was heroic, which got Izuku's attention, the boy was worried about how will affect his career now and then? Sadly, only time will tell, which is something that All Might is never aware of.
Suddenly, All Might came back with two bottled milk tea drinks in his hands. "Here you go, Young Midoriya. You don't have to pay me back for it, consider this as a gift now that we both know each other now." He handed a drink to Izuku.
"Thank you." Izuku grabbed his.
The blonde hero took a sip of his drink, and let out a refreshing breath. "So, did you already cope with what I all said?"
"Yeah, I did, actually," Izuku replied. "I still can't believe that this is already happening to you forever. I just hope no one else will know about your secret. It might make the whole world grow worried."
"Yeah, that's something else that I'm working on, too. But I have to keep this up regardless, or the world will go into chaos." All Might stated the sad truth. "So, about your Quirk…" he started. "How did that happen."
Izuku remembered, and started explaining, "Well, I found these cuffs inside a pod behind a dumpster. Once I touched by accident, it suddenly just attached itself to my wrists permanently. I tried to reason out my mom and the doctor about them, but they think it was me being dizzy." He sadly stated. "Eventually, I was able to notice my arms transform when I was taking out the trash. My arms suddenly transformed into bionic arms, that gave me super strength, arm blasters, and a jetpack. I was happy at first that I got a Quirk, that's not even manifested, which made me want to tell everyone about it, especially my parents and Kacchan."
"Kacchan?" All Might was confused by that pet name. "Don't you mean Young Bakugo? That boy was actually brash and angry after I saved him. He keeps on bragging that he can handle the Sludge villain all by himself, but that never happened."
Izuku quickly stammered by his statement on Bakugo. "H-He isn't brash or anything! He's j-just really trying to say a c-compliment. He's just shy."
All Might raised an eyebrow. "Sure, it doesn't sound like he was shy." He remembered still how he responded to him after saving his life, but he shook it off. "Anyway, now that I learned how did you get those cuffs, it makes sense that they are somehow similar to my Quirk."
Izuku was eager about the cuffs that are now on his wrists, "What you mean?" he didn't have the right words to respond. All Might began explaining the cuff's origin.
"You see, those cuffs were actually based on my Quirk, One For All, and as of now it acts as a power source for its creation during its process." He started. "Two years ago, a group of villains suddenly managed to capture me for their leader, who is actually a mad scientist who wanted to recreate One For All. All that he did is he took a large amount of my blood for him to create what he wanted. Eventually, I was able to fight back, but I wasn't able to stop him."
"But did the villain say anything to you before he got away?"
"Well, the only thing that he told me is that 'whoever possesses the cuffs from out of nowhere, they will be in a lot of trouble once they start to bond with the user permanently'." He answered, which made Izuku taken aback like it was déjà vu. "And because of what he said, I promised to make sure that whoever has those cuffs, I will train them to the fullest to become not just a Hero, but to also learn how to use them properly."
All Might pointed to Izuku. "And that someone; is you Young Midoriya."
Izuku was surprised, but stayed silent, by All Might from what he explained entirely. He never knew that someone was actually him.
"You, Izuku Midoriya, will be trained how to use this Quirk that you have now forever." All Might declared. "And I promise to train you hard enough to reach out to your full potential for you to become a hero.
This is what Izuku was waiting for. His dream finally managed to come. "R-Really?" he was too stunned still.
All Might nodded. "However, there is something that you should know: My training skills are not that skillful, but regardless you will be under my teachings until the time is right when you are able to use your Quirk. That is if that is fine with you."
Immediately, Izuku answered. "Yes! I want to be trained under your teachings, All Might! It'll be an honor!" he was excited about it.
"Shh! Shh! Keep it down!" he calmed Izuku in a whispering voice. "You're going to let everybody know about your Quirk!"
"Oh! Sorry!" Izuku apologized back until he realized something from what he said. "But… can I at least tell my parents about it?"
"No. I'm afraid not." All Might sadly be answered. "Your parents, or anyone who knows, will think that you are crazy enough to have a Quirk that is not even manifested. So, I suggest you just say that you are a late bloomer and your Quirk is… Super Arms."
"Super Arms?" Izuku questioned.
"To make sure that it is the only thing they will believe, and not the other potential weapons and gadgets in your bionic arms."
"I understand now." Izuku was able to get it. "Okay! I will be under your teachings, All Might sir."
"An immediate reply! I knew that's what you would say." All Might exclaimed surprised. "Now remember, you and I will meet at the abandoned Wano Tower. That will be the place where you will undergo your training throughout the rest of the ten months today." He instructed, to which Izuku listened carefully. "You get all that?"
"Yes, sir!" is all Izuku could respond.
000000
Two days later, Izuku arrived at what seemed to be the top floor of the Wano Tower, somewhere located at the south side of Musutafu. Before he could arrive at the location, Izuku remembered what he knew about the tower itself.
It was left abandoned due to a failing business idea that went horribly wrong for kids. It even reminded the other people that entered the tower that it was like that one game where the robot animals stay up all night and kill you. Eventually, it was left abandoned for so long, it looks like it came from a ghost town.
But that didn't bother Izuku at all. Not even a bit.
"Okay, now that you've arrived just in time, I'll be going down on what would your training be!" All Might, in his muscular form, instructed for Izuku's first day. The boy on the other hand was eager to listen. "The first thing that you need to do is get in real shape, by dragging most of the junk out of this tower. Think you are up for that?"
Izuku has no idea why does he need to do all that for his training. "Wait, why do I need to drag all of them out as part of my training? I thought this is going to help me train. And I really don't think that this is a perfect place to begin my training with."
"Ah, good observation, Young Midoriya." The Symbol of Peace smiled at his question. "You see, clearing this tower's giant room of old junk and yesteryear's machinery is a good way to get your body in great shape! Also, this will also help how to use your Quirk's abilities and gadgets more freely out from the public eye."
"Wait, why?" Izuku asked.
"I'll explain in the future anytime soon. Patience is a must." He reminded. "Anyway, this kind of workout will be a lot better aside from doing lifting weights and jumping jacks. You see, if you use your bionic arms and try to fight someone, it'll just slow you done since it has a lot of weight in it. Plus, you can tell that they are heavy since your frail body isn't cut up for it."
Izuku was shocked to hear the downside of his Quirk, and it mainly focuses on himself. He never knew that if he tried to punch a wall with his arms, his weak noodle body will turn into powder the next second. In fact, if he tries to save a citizen with his Quirk out in the open, he might as well drag them on the ground as quickly as he can. He can also think about the many embarrassing things he will be in if he can't use his Quirk's other abilities.
But he did listen to every word. "Of course… I have to work really hard in order for me to use my Quirk, or else I can't do it…" he put two and two together and knew what he was going to do. "I'll do it!"
"Great!" All Might was impressed by his determination. He then handed him a bunch of papers to him. "Also, here is a schedule for your daily routine if you can keep it up. Such as diet, exercise methods, and all that stuff for you."
Izuku read all of them and was stunned by how it is. "This schedule looks tough, to begin with…"
"Ah, yes. Frankly speaking, it is a tough one alright. Think you're up for it?" He asked.
Izuku looked at his idol, and mentor, with prideful eyes. "Yes, I can! I need to keep up with my training or I'll never be able to use this."
This is going to be a long one for him.
And so, the painful and spine-killing training of Izuku Midoriya has begun for the next ten months of his life. Just now, All Might is convincing Izuku to pull a large locker with all his might, even if it has been ten minutes.
Depending on his size and height, Izuku was struggling time and time when he still keeps on doing his routine. There were trips and falls to the ground, and even hard objects to pull since they are three-time heavy. But despite all of that happening to him, Izuku still got back to his feet and make sure to never give up in order to chase his dream.
000000
In school, since he can't focus but concentrate on his workout routine, Izuku began thinking about how can he start his routine outside the tower, while trying to keep up with the rest of the days he has. He even can't tell from the difference that cleaning up a very large room in a tower will make it easy for him to get his body toned. Also, if anything, he has one thing that he wanted to know about –
SMACK!
"Midoriya!" Izuku jolted, realizing what he was doing. "Did you seriously hit your head after you stopped that Sledgehammer villain? Surely, it doesn't mean that it gets you into UA for sure."
The teacher's mocking insult gain a few snickers from Izuku's classmates. The boy felt really embarrassed after what he did. After all, he can't really blame anyone since all that working out for his routine made him feel lightheaded. Bakugo on the other didn't mind, as he is still pissed from what happened last time.
The teacher stopped snickering. "Anyway, enough of that now, let's get back to the lesson at hand. So, Quirks started to become more dangerous as it grows over and over every year to which it became…"
While he is talking, a note that says "I'm the Human Handjob" was placed behind his back, making the other students laugh at their teacher this time. While nobody knew who did that, the white-haired boy with a shark-like grin on his face snickered as well.
"Once again, Soul Evans. You really are a stealthy genius…" the white-haired hooligan mentally said to himself. While a certain light-taupe-haired girl with pigtails glared behind him.
000000
Eventually, as days, weeks, and months go by, Izuku was still struggling too hard from his training as he can't even push a single truck wheel with his arms. Eventually, when he got home, he immediately informed his parents about the workout schedule and plans as they immediately supported their only son with it. And every six in the morning, he would study and work out at the same time.
Aside from working out, he also has trained in using his arm blasters and jetpack if he wants to be good at using them since his poor marksmanship was off and his flying skills were rusty. Just right now, he wasn't able to shoot three targets with three shots and can't even get his body to aid in his flight.
All this made All Might shrug like it was part of something, which he started in the first place.
However, day after day and as time passes on and on, there was progress for the boy.
He was able to lift weights, go on a one-mile run around the tower's room, and even managed to perfect his marksmanship and flying skills. He was able to keep in school, despite getting tired from the training. He even started to do jogs earlier around five.
Of course, all of this was observed by All Might himself as he watched his successor strive hard enough to reach his goal. He was also impressed that the tower is almost cleaned and clear from all the junk lying around. He can also tell that Izuku was pushing himself too far, but again, he shrugs it off as part of his training.
In the end, Izuku didn't give up as he keeps on walking on the path where he still stood his ground.
000000
Summer already arrived, and the day has come that Izuku completed his training routine. Well, almost actually. His body was already toned and fit for him to use his Quirk for the time properly. He already aced in his marksmanship and flying as he remembered how they were used well. Now, all he has to complete is one final thing, and his training is complete.
To fight All Might. With his bionic arms.
"Okay, Young Midoriya. For your final part in your training, you will have to fight me, in order for you to use your bionic arms in combat." All Might instructed, who is wearing an attire suited for fighting. "Are you ready?"
Izuku's arms transformed into their bionic form and did a stance. "I'm ready!" while on his stance, it seems like he doesn't feel like his arms are giving up on him, thanks to the training that he took.
"Now remember, you don't have to pull your punches. Just go all out, and used everything that you got on me!" All Might reminded, to which Izuku nodded in agreement. "Okay. Ready… Now!"
Izuku dashed in his way quick as his Quirk formed a backpack, giving him an extra boost to fly at his mentor. With one arm backed, Izuku clenched his bionic fist tightly. "SMASH!" and delivered a powerful to All Might, which was so effective.
"Holy shit! That was insanely tough!" All Might mentally exclaim in surprise, despite getting punched in the gut.
Izuku smiled, as he was able to perform such a powerful attack. He never knew that's how it felt like using his bionic arms in combat while not using his blaster. His face looks like he just came from a candy store.
All Might knelt down in defeat, groaning a bit. Which made Izuku a bit worried quickly. "All Might… Are you okay? I didn't go to far, did i?"
"Ha ha ha!" Not at all… Young Midoriya." All Might commented, panting from the impact he received. He stood back up from the ground, "While I'm impressed that my student knows how mimic my Super Moves, can you at least expect that it would work on me for a while?"
"Huh?" That is all Izuku could say.
"Washington… SMASH!"
The confusion of Izuku was suddenly interrupted when All Might immediately create a counterattack, which happens to be a powerful uppercut that blew Izuku from the ground immediately. The wind pressure was too strong, it made Izuku reach the ceiling.
And when that happened, his eyes grew in shock, seeing that he was going to fall to his death. Luckily, Izuku immediately used his backpack to fly and land himself safely on the ground. He immediately got into his fighting stance as he was –
"Alright. Let's take a break for a while."
Huh? Over already? What gives?
Izuku was confused why they stopped, "Is there s-something wrong?"
All Might sighed. "Actually, there is."
"Oh, no! Is it because I went too far with the punch?! He said don't 'pull any punches! How can I even make it up to him?!
"Honestly, Young Midoriya. I get it that you are a huge fan of me, and I'm flattered for that, so thanks." All Might's smile dropped into a disappointing one. "However… you make my Super Moves shtick look bad, to begin with."
"That's why?! But I did it perfectly well!" He was actually surprised about that. Izuku never knew that he made him look bad just because he was mimicking his Super Moves.
"Let me explain to that surprised, shocked face of yours." All Might began explaining. "Let's say you encountered a tall, bulky mecha villain out of nowhere. And all of a sudden, you are the only one who can stop since you are a hero. Eventually, you began to mimic my Super Move: One. Single. Powerful. Punch. And while that didn't work out as you planned it, you eventually get… splat." He put too much emphasis on the last word.
All Might look Izuku perfectly. "From the way how you look, along with your having a perfect physique, I'd say you should do more than just one punch like I do, Young Midoriya. Don't focus on just one way to hit a person."
If Izuku can slap himself without looking like a crazy person, he already has since this is just new to him."Of course! I couldn't copy his moves! My Quirk may have One For All's abilities, but it doesn't act like that!"
His bionic arms may be strong as a bodybuilder or Batman's punches, but he is NOT like All Might. No, scratch that: His bionic arms are not a copy of One For All, but rather a variant that acts like one.
"I shouldn't fight like All Might; I should fight the way how I fight." Izuku mentally said as if he is putting a huge note on his memory. "I understand now, All Might!"
"Good. We will pick this up again around next week." All Might said while packing up his gear. "I have to attend to something very important. Also, enjoy your vacation too as well."
000000
Unfortunately, he did not enjoy the start of his vacation. Somehow…
While Izuku may have the toned body he earned from his training, the only thing left that he can do is practice his combat skills while not using his bionic arms, inside his bedroom. Back at the apartment.
He searched from Google to YouTube on how to learn self-defense, taekwondo, boxing, and other forms of fighting aside from a powerful one punch that can only stun anyone he hits rather than giving up.
He was sweaty, tired, and exhausted from top to bottom. He wanted to enjoy his vacation, but learning how to master fighting takes at least years to master, which he doesn't have to begin with since the entrance exam is about two months.
Knock knock. "Hey son, your mother says that dinner will be ready in…" Hisashi paused as he watched his son. "Whatcha doing there, son?"
Izuku eventually stopped, catching his breath. "Practicing… Fighting… For entrance exam."
"Ah, that explains the whole ruckus in your room." His shift to a fatherly smile. "Haha! My son, training his best to fight when he gets into UA! I knew that you have a special skill in you, you just have to wait for it!"
Izuku just listened to his father's words, which are like wisdom to him in some ways. But it felt like it and it felt right.
"Anyway, while you were practicing how to fight for the entrance exam in UA, I searched some of my old stuff in my bag and I was wondering if you want to learn stuff from this," Hisashi said as he brought something behind his back.
Izuku grab it and observed it, from the title, to begin with, it wasn't a book: but a manual rather. It grew him curious, and intrigued since the title says: "COMBAT TRAINING 101: BY HISASHI MIDORIYA".
Izuku was no words to say, except, "You published a manual about fighting and combat?"
"While it's not really a manual, yes. I did write a book about fighting and combat." Hisashi rubbed the back of his head. "I published it back in America during Christmas. They were selling like hotcakes! But unfortunately, they were wondering if there will be the next book about it, and I said no."
Hisashi looked down sadly to the ground. "It stopped selling after three or five months." But he quickly stopped his moping. "But at least they were able to learn from it."
Izuku was surprised that his dad gave him a book about fighting, but he was confused about one thing. "Why are you giving this to me anyway, Dad?"
"Well, I remembered you when you were just a kid that you kept on copying All Might's punch. You were so happy when you started acting like your favorite hero." Hisashi remembered, which made Izuku roll his eyes with a smile from the memory. "But since your dream of getting to UA finally came, and you telling us that you're a late bloomer, I can easily say that you are ready for what it takes to be a hero. Just don't go copying them, 'cause that's bad." He sternly said.
"Yeah Dad, don't worry, I know what I'm doing." Izuku just learned that lesson now.
"Good. I just wanted to make sure." He smiled at his son. "Besides, if All Might ever see you in person, I bet he would be proud that you transformed yourself to become your own hero."
Izuku took his father's words of advice in his head. Another mental note to rely on forever. And he formed a smile that his mentor will be aware of that.
Before Hisashi left, Izuku asked him a question. "Dad, wait." His father stopped. "Don't mind me asking, but… do you have a hero that you admire in your life?"
That struck Hisashi hard. He has never heard his son ask that question except for his co-workers. He did, however, have an answer for that.
"That's a good question, Izuku." he warmly smiled at him. "The hero that I look up to all day, is you." Izuku was touched by his answer. "You always strive hard to get what you need, and you have a good heart that makes you more human. Anyway, I need to go help your mother. See you at dinner, son."
As Hisashi left, Izuku almost teared up at his father's touching words, but he shakes his emotions and wiped his tears away. He stood up from his bed and began to the first page of his father's book.
"Okay, time for me to do this." Izuku took a deep breath and performed the first move that was on the first page.
However, the result is that he fell off the ground as he failed to perform the move properly. Izuku groaned in pain, that his father's fighting book was a lot harder, to begin with.
"This is going to be a long night…" Izuku weakly stated.
And another chapter is done! Will Izuku ever learn how to perform his own fighting style? Will he be there to prove it to All Might? Find out in the next chapter of the story.
So, to say some things here, I'm planning to make another MHA book that focuses on Heroes, Villains, and Vigilantes from the past ever since Quirks started to become the new norm of the MHA universe. It will have about ten chapters, and not every chapter is connected in the book.
Also, this story will have about two more chapters before it will be left for a hiatus. You see, the five chapters in this story are an arc, and this arc is titled "Technological Beginnings". And, I'll be working on one day, which will also be my main focus since I wanted to write new stories in MHA. And I might also do a crossover in the future.
Anyway, I hope enjoyed this chapter so much, unlike the previous one. Anyway, please be sure to leave a review and support my story! Bye!
