They'd sat in a somewhat comfortable silence for at least an hour. Eddie was finishing some paperwork for September, whilst Rachel rested quietly next to him.

Eddie didn't know exactly how much rest Rachel was really getting. He could tell she was deep in thought. Her eyes had been drilling into the ceiling for the last hour. He wished he knew what was going through her mind. He wished he could pluck all the bad thoughts out and make them disappear. He wished she'd talk to him, but he was going to push her.

"I bought some soup and bread if you're hungry?" He announced, pulling Rachel from her thoughts

"That sounds good" Rachel nodded

Deep down, Rachel really wasn't hungry at all, but she thought she should try and eat something. Besides, Eddie was worried about her enough already. She didn't want to make it worse.

Eddie went downstairs and put the soup in the microwave. Once it was ready, he carried it back up to Rachel, who had managed to sit herself up against the headboard and pillows. He gently placed the tray on her lap, before going to her dressing table to get her the antibiotics she needed to take.

"Well I didn't have this in the cupboard!" Rachel laughed, picking up the soup spoon

Eddie smiled

"I went to the shop while you were asleep. I picked up some bandages, painkillers, some cleaning stuff and a new bolt for your front door" he explained

Rachel stared at him, taken aback by his kind actions.

"You did? Eddie you didn't need to do that! Fetch me my handbag and I'll reimburse you what you paid for it all"

"No, Rach, it's fine" he insisted

"Eddie, please, I want to!" She pleaded

"Rachel, no. When I said I was going to look after you, I meant it" he said firmly

Rachel sighed. She wasn't going to win. She planned to pay him back somehow though.

"And you don't need to worry about the bathroom or carpets. I've cleaned them and got the stains out" he added

She squeezed his hand gently

"Thank you Eddie, I'm really grateful. And this soup is great"

"Good, I'm glad" Eddie nodded

He knew he needed to tell her about the phone call from DI Wolfe and how he'd given him the note. But he was nervous, worrying she'd overreact. He had to do it.

"Listen, there's something else I need to talk to you about"

Rachel looked at him, urging him to continue. She was growing increasingly anxious the longer he stayed silent.

"I gave the note from Stuart to the Police" he admitted

Rachel paused, the soup spoon in her hand hovering in mid air.

"Right..." she replied

"I know I didn't talk to you about it before, and I'm sorry. But I had to Rachel. I just can't let Stuart get away with this" he reasoned

Rachel suddenly began to feel sick. The room started to spin and her stomach churned violently. Eddie saw the colour drain from her face.

"Rach? Are you ok?" He asked

"Can you pass me the bin please?" She mumbled, loud enough for Eddie to hear

Eddie grabbed the little bin from the corner of the room without hesitation, handing it to her just in time. She vomited into the bin violently, unable to stop. Eddie moved the tray of soup away from her, placing it on the bedside table. He then held her hair back as she continued to throw up into the bin.

Once the wave of nausea had passed, Rachel sunk further into the pillows, exhaustion overwhelming her. She could feel Eddie's gaze burning into her. He was worried. Maybe he'd been right; maybe she shouldn't have discharged herself from Hospital. But there was no way she was going back there while Stuart Hordley was on the loose. She felt safer at home.

"I'm going to get you a glass of water" Eddie decided, taking the tray of soup and heading out of the room

He returned a few minutes later, handing her a glass of fresh water. She took it gratefully, taking a small sip. Suddenly, she felt guilty.

"I'm sorry Eddie" she sighed

"You can't help it if you're sick Rachel!" Eddie pointed out

"I know, but you went to all that effort to make me something to eat and I... threw it up. I'm sorry"

"Rach, all I did was put it in the microwave! It really is ok!" Eddie insisted

Rachel sighed deeply, wincing as the action caused a pain to shoot through her ribs.

"How are you feeling now?" Eddie asked

"Awful, but better now I've been sick" she admitted

"Are you sure you don't want to go back to the hospital? Even just to be checked over? You've gone really pale and you're shivering"

Rachel shook her head

"I'm fine" she promised

"You're not" Eddie insisted

"I'm not going back there, Eddie! I'll be ok. It's probably normal" she huffed

"Alright, but if you're sick again, I'm taking you back" Eddie sighed

Rachel nodded, too tired to argue with him.
