AN: Warning: Mention of drug use
The Previous Night
After their reunion at the field of beans, Regina took her to the docks to eavesdrop on a Snow and David having a late-night hot coco together. As Regina cloaked herself as a fisherman Amelia kept to the shadows to listen to the couple's late night discussion.
"If, we're going back to the Enchanted Forest, are we really going to leave Regina behind?" Mary Margaret asked her husband
"She's too dangerous to bring with us. We have to leave her" David tells her
"But... Henry won't like it. She is his mother, despite all the horrors"
"Mary Margaret, those horrors will continue. Do you wanna give her another chance, because every time we do, she—"
"She slips" his wife finished for him "I know" she sighed out before looking back up at David "What about Amelia, she's done so well since the curse broke, she's even finished her relationship with Regina. When I think back all the good times I had with her even on the run, it was without Regina"
"I know, she has changed I'll admit" the man tells his wife "Without Regina she's good. But there's something I still don't completely trust in her. She let us think that she gave Cora a powerful weapon only to find out it was fake all along, she couldn't trust us enough to tell us her plan"
Mary Margaret shook her head not knowing what to do "What do we do?"
"Instead of a second chance, we give them a choice—come back with us. Regina will have to live out her days in Rumple's cell, and we send Amelia to Monteriggioni or stay here"
Amelia jumps down from her hiding spot on the roof of the cannery "Exile? I don't think so" she says to herself before storming away from the couple
Regina owed her big time for this.
Amelia stood in the small bathroom of her room at Granny's Inn in nothing but a white bathrobe as she ruffled her short red hair in the mirror once again. While Regina was dealing with the beans she had to start her plan on getting Greg Mendel or Owen Flynn out of Storybrooke without raising suspicion with the hero's. She just needed to make first contact with her target. Today.
With a towel in hand and tightening the robe tie around her waist she snuck into the hallway barefoot between room and stood outside his room planting a sickly smile on her face before knocking on his door. She waited a few seconds before Greg opened his door eye's wide to her on the other side and open agape.
"Hi" she started in a forced sweet chipper voice that would give her cavity if she did it for too long.
"Hi" he states in surprise "C-can I help you?" he asked the attractive but strange woman in a bathrobe
"I'm Amy, I'm a couple doors down from you I was wondering if I could use your shower, mine isn't working and I'm late for work"
"S-sure, come on in" Greg moved out of the way to let her into his room "Bathroom's that way" he pointed out to her allowing her to step into his room
"You're a life saver..uh"
"G-Greg. Please come in" he introduced himself as she let herself into the room and straight to the bathroom, shutting the door behind her she leant into the shower to turn it on before hopping herself onto the sink crossing her slender naked legs one knee over the other taking out her phone from the pocket of her robe, she opened up a new message to Regina
Made contact with target- A
She sent the text and flicked her sixth sense on to see that Greg was hovering at the bathroom door "So, uh you just passing through town or…"
"I actually live in town" she shouted over the running water "my apartment was broken into and trashed while I went out of town for a couple day's"
"Oh, I'm so sorry" his muffled voice came through the door
"It's nothing they did me a favour, I needed new furniture anyway" she replied as the mirror behind her began to steam up.
"T-that's good, has the uh..Sheriff caught the guy yet?"
"Not yet, but what do you expect from a sheriff's department in small towns, underfunded and uninterested if it isn't covered in frosting" she said as she hopped off the sink and turned the shower off
"Maybe that's something you can take up with the Mayor, she seems reasonable" rolling her eye's she undid her robe.
"Believe me she's not" Greg was taken a back as the redhead opened to bathroom door letting the steam escape the confines of room to see the top of the white towel that covered her torso under the white robe, she had to refrain from wringing his neck out as his eye's trailed from her chest up back to her eye's.
"I really hope I didn't use up your hot water" she sighed out with a sweet smile
"I like cold showers in the morning anyway" he blurted out with a tight-lipped smile
"Thank you so much for letting me use it"
"No problem" he replied as she saw he couldn't help himself looking down
"I bet you don't get a lot of half-naked woman at your door most mornings" she joked
"Uh no. but I'm glad I could help, but didn't you say you needed to get to work?"
"Shit" she cursed as headed to the door opening it ajar only to stop to look back at Greg "Listen I own this bar in town, the Hidden One's, did you want to come by tonight and get a drink with me, on the house of course"
"Y-yeah sounds good"
"Seven sound good?"
"Even better"
"It's a date. See you then Greg" she let herself out and closed his door shut, however she was met by Neal and his fiancé Tamara coming out of their room.
Neal's eyes widened in shock seeing the red head assassin in nothing but a robe and towel in the middle of the hallway while Tamara looked equally as shocked, but Amelia could see something more going on behind the dark-skinned woman's eyes.
"Good Morning" Amelia greeted the couple with a curt nod
"Morning?" Neal's greeting came out as more as a question. Tamara cleared her throat reminding Neal of her presence "Oh Tamara this is Amelia, Amelia this is Tamara my fiancée"
"The uh Assassin, right?" Tamara deduced.
"That would be me" Amelia greeted the woman that had ruffled the Saviours feather's "Great to finally meet you, but I really should be getting back to my room" she tells the couple
"Maybe we'll see each other later, when you'll have more clothes on" Tamara drawled
"Definitely" Amelia said quickly retreating to her room "Have a good day"
Regina owed her big fucking time
Returning to her office in the Hidden One's she was surprised to find Emma waiting for her. Once she settled behind her desk, she listened to Emma pace the length of her small office explaining what had happened when she bumped into Neal's fiancée that morning, from the list to the lie that Tamara told her about trusting her.
"Weren't you listening to anything I was saying" Emma asked the Assassin as left with silence after the story about the new woman in town
"I was just wondering when I became the Charming's sponsored therapist" Amelia mused to herself
"Lia, I'm telling you that Tamara is the 'she' that August told me about"
"I remember. Trust me" she tells the blonde "just sit down before I bill you for the hole you've worn into the carpet" following the redheads orders the blonde huffed in the chair opposite her "Now what exactly do you want from me"
"I just need someone to believe me. Ever since August told us about 'she' I've been trying to figure out who 'she' could be"
"And you got all this from a list?" the red head questioned the blonde. She vaguely remembered Emma mentioning a list Tamara dropped on the floor of the diner
"It was a list of people who lives here, what their fairy tale names are"
"Neal could just be helping her adjust here" Amelia tried to reason with the blonde opposite "remember when you first believed in all this, Mary Margaret was suddenly your mother instead of a roommate with very questionable taste in men"
She knew all about the teachers' one night stand with Whale. Everyone did in the Hidden Ones. Despite the effects of the curse her thieves were still good at finding information the bar owner could use against the residents of the town. Just in case...
"I do remember" Emma sighed "but aren't you worried about this at all"
"I'm a naturally suspicious person Emma" Amelia retorted "I'm trained not to trust anyone especially strangers"
"What about my superpower? she said I could trust her, she lied"
"So called superpowers can be unreliable, especially towards someone you've have a connection to-"
"I do not have feelings for Neal!" Emma exclaimed in frustration interrupting the red head
"I was not saying that Swan" Letting out a huff Amelia leant on the desk on her elbows "If you really think Tamara's the one August was talking about you need to find solid proof. In my early days whenever I had a target, I had to find proof that they were the one responsible for it before I got permission to kill them, believe it or not I couldn't just kill just anybody"Emma listened to the redhead's words closely as the Assassin outlined what she needed to do "Find evidence on Tamara, take it to your parents and Neal, then if need be...kill the bitch" she ended her sentence with a smirk.
"We're not killing anyone" Emma sternly told the former Assassin
"It was only a suggestion" Amelia held out her hands to the sheriff in surrender falling back into her seat "All I'm saying be careful, you're trying to build some bridges with Neal because of Henry, if you start accusing someone, he loves of being a criminal mastermind you just might find he'll go to defend her and not you. Talk to your mother before you do anything, she seems to be more…sensible in these situations"
"-And as for your superpower, trust it, but be cautious, there have been many times I've seen people as my enemy only to find out they were only trying to help me" (or the other way around)
"Okay" Emma nods at the former Assassin "Find evidence, I can do that" she said before looking back up at the assassin "Thanks"
"Glad to help" she chimed to the blonde "Now get out of my office before I start charging you"
"Got it" at that the blonde stood from her seat heading for the door before stopping. Something had been nagging at the blonde since seeing the redhead for the first time in days.
"Hey, are we okay?" the blonde suddenly asks the redhead walking back to the desk
"Why'd you ask?" Amelia sighed
"You just you've been a little more quiet the last few days. We've been a little worried" she prodded. The assassin had to be careful, her 'superpower' may be in the fritz with Tamara but it could be working just fine for her
"I've been better" she tells the woman honestly "Just been busy, that's all. With what happened with August, it reminded me of something back home"
Emma nodded accepting the answer "See you around then. Henry misses you" she adds before leaving the redhead to her job.
This was going to be harder than she thought.
Later that night dressed in simple black dress, dark tights and heels she waits behind the bar of the Hidden Ones' with the bar/club in full swing. Her staff had orders to leave her be for the night as she had a plan ready in motion to get Greg Mendel out of Storybrooke for good without having to kill him.
She looked towards the front door of her club as the door opened to see Greg in a shirt and suit jacket his eye's met her's across the crowd of people making Amelia wave him over to the bar with a warm smile.
She stayed behind the bar as he made his way towards her. "Hey" she yelled over the music "There's my saviour"
"Here I am" he replied taking a seat opposite her with a relaxed smile
"What can I get you?" she offers the man "I recommend a glass of some locally sourced red wine"
"Sure, why not" he agrees with her before she gets to work behind the bar "So how long have you owned the place?"
"As long as I can remember" she answered him placing two glasses in front of him "I got an inheritance from my late father and next thing I know I'm buying this place and turning it into a bar, in the space of 3 months I was up and running getting visits from the local PD about drunken fights on the street"
"And the mayors office never shut you down?" Greg enquired as she poured generous amounts of the wine into the glasses
"The Mayor and I have an understanding" she explained "As long as I help fund her next re-election campaign and donate to a few community projects, she keeps the law off my back. That and I have a very good lawyer on retainer" she tells him with a smirk that he mirrored as she slides his glass toward him, which he gratefully picks up "As far as the residents know I'm just another local business owner, that may or may not have to take out the trash every so often, if you catch my drift"
Greg holds up his glass towards her "Well, here's to many more years of understandings" he toasted to her
Mirroring him she stood up straight and let him take a good look at her appearance "And to people like you willing to let a complete stranger's take a shower in their hotel room"
"Cheers" the pair clinked their glasses together ready to enjoy the night, to whatever may happen.
The 'date' had been going well as the night wore on Amelia had joined him on the other side of the bar as she kept him talking about everything and nothing at the same time as the clock ticked closer towards closing time. As the bar emptied out, she had only started to feel lightly buzzed from the wine, meanwhile Lance had kept his glass full all night, getting lost in how much he had actually drunk as he talked.
She kept his attention on her for the whole night as she kept lightly touching his hand that rested on the bar, occasionally crossing her leg over the other making the hem of the black dress wore ride further up her thigh, catching his eye every time she pushed her cleavage forward. She had him right where she needed him. Completely under her spell.
Who said she needed magic to get a job done.
Greg still hadn't noticed as he was telling her a funny story, she had forgotten about halfway through that they were the only ones there minus the staff that had stayed to clean up, including Lance who stood down the bar. The large built man approached the couple sliding something over to the redhead.
"Here's the key's boss" her bartender tells her handing her the bunch of keys on the bar
"Thanks Luke, have a good night" she tells him picking them up before slipping them into her small clutch as he walked out back
"Oh, your closed" Greg stated the obvious seeing the bar empty except from them
"For about half an hour now, it's okay, I didn't want to interrupt you"
"You should have. Now I feel like an idiot"
"Don't" she says vacating her stool she rounds the bar to go back behind it "It actually gives me a chance for us to try something I've been saving for a special occasion"
"Special occasion?"
"Stupid tradition my father started years ago" she explained taking out fresh glasses from under the bar "He traveled a lot when I was growing up, but before each journey took him to far off lands he would make a toast with his favorite rum the night beofre he left. He said it gave him good luck " she explained pouring the drink out.
"And did it? Give him luck?" Greg inquired
"Well, he did come back every time, if that's what you mean" she gives him tight lipped smirked that didn't quite reach her eye's
"Can I ask how he died?"
"You can" she says "He died when I was eighteen" she tells him "Freak car accident. T-boned by a drunk truck driver. Didn't see it coming"
"I'm sorry, I can imagine how you feel" a curious brow rose on her face as she felt his hand enclose on hers on the bar "I lost my Dad when I was young"
"I'm sorry to hear that" the redhead tell him, holding up her glass towards the man "To our Dad's, may they find peace wherever they are" Greg raised his and tapped it against hers before he watched her take a swig of the spicy liquid, seeing her gulp it down
"You know. I still don't understand what happened" he says to her "but with your help I think I can"
"Me? How can I help?" she asked him curiously
"Well, you seem to know Regina better than anyone else here, being her former partner in crime. She was the that killed him. You know everything the Evil Queen has done" he says.
She suddenly feels her stomach dropped. 'Stay calm' she tells herself 'Keep to the mission'
"Evil Queen?" she says quizzically "I've never heard her ever be referred to as that" she continued as she felt pins and needles go through her hand, making the glass slip from her fingers, it is crashing onto the bar with a thud, the rum escaping onto the surface
"Are you okay? You look a little sick?" Greg asked her as calm as anything
"I'm fine" she brushed his concern off as she tries to wipe up the spill, only for her hand to slack. She couldn't feel her hand as a wave a dizziness swept over her, making her close her eyes and cling onto the bar for dear life
What the hell was happening?
When she opened her eyes again her vision swam as she saw Greg now standing slipping something onto his finger. She saw the red cross the engraved the ring. Templar's? Here? "I saw your bartender put those glasses away earlier, but before he put something around the rim of one of them, so when you went to the ladies room about forty minutes ago, I quickly switched them, so whatever you intended to give to me, would instead be given to you, I was right"
"What do you want?" she growled out as she fought back the feeling of wanting the darkness to completely take over
"Answers" he says "You know something Assassin, and I'm looking forward getting them out of you"
"I don't know anything about your father"
"Oh not him. I wanted to talk to you about something else. The Apple of Eden. We know it's here"
"It's not" she sternly told him as her vision began to swim
"Let's discuss this when you don't look like your about to pass out" he said just as someone behind her grabbed her, smothering a cloth that stunk of chloroform onto her mouth and nose. It didn't take long until her world when dark and she felt the world slip away from her.
