"YOU ALL SHALL BE SENT FORTH TO YOUR GRAVES!!!"
Inside of an old dilapidated warehouse and junkyard, Mystery Inc. were now currently investigating the mystery of what was called 'The Monster Car'; a wrecked and scrapped 1958 Plymouth Fury, who is supposedly possessed by some kind of demon, and it haunted the roads that intersected around the junkyard. However, the gang has their suspicions about this 'ghost', and were ready to spring the trap.
Braedey Martin, along with Scooby-Doo, were both running through the empty warehouse, hoping to hide from the demon in possession of the Monster Car. The two now hid next to a shipping container, hiding from view of the car.
"I think we lost it." Braedey whispered to Scooby, who nodded frantically back to him. "Okay. Remember the plan: we run over to the magnet crane, luring the Monster Car there, and then, once the car is picked up off the ground, we'll find out who's responsible for the haunting of the roads, and we can go home after."
"Rokay." Scooby nodded quietly.
But then, the two now fell silent, as the sound of a low growling engine could be heard. The two hid from view, as they heard the sound of the car getting closer to the warehouse. Scooby, thinking fast, now placed a paw over Braedey's mouth, so his breathing won't be heard, and the brunette looked over to the Great Dane in confusion. Then, they both froze, as they heard the car's tyres slowly crunching onto the concrete, like menacing footsteps.
"WHERE ARE YOU?" A demonic voice echoed out, almost like it's trying to mock the two friends hiding. "COME OUT, COME OUT, WHEREVER YOU ARE."
Braedey felt like he was gonna scream out in fear, but he sucked it all up, as he heard the sound of the old Monster Car's engine almost a few feet away from where they were hiding. He didn't dare move a muscle, and nor did Scooby. Then, after 30 long agonising and stressful seconds for the two friends, they heard the sound of the car's brakes releasing and the car now rolling away. As the two carefully looked from behind the container, they saw the car had disappeared. Nothing was there.
"Phew. That was close." Braedey sighed to himself, and he looked to Scooby. "Nice. Come on, Scooby. We have to hurry." He said, and Scooby nodded in agreement.
But then, the demonic and evil revving sounded off right behind them, and they both turned towards the exit to see the Monster Car sitting there, it's one headlight shining right at them!
"YOU CANNOT HIDE FROM ME!!!" The Monster Car roared out to them, its rear tyres squealing, as it then burned rubber, with fire erupting from its exhaust, and it began to accelerate towards them. "TIME TO SEND YOU DOWN WITH ME!"
"RUN, SCOOBY!" Braedey screamed, and both he and Scooby sprinted out of the warehouse's other exit as fast as they could. As they do so, they saw the Monster Car was right on their tail.
As the two ran out of the warehouse, the Monster Car continued to follow after Braedey and Scooby, it's engine revving like a mad dog or hungry monster, whilst flames shot out of its supposedly ruined exhaust system, and the headlight was still locked on them. Suddenly, a wall of flame erupted from below, blocking the car's path from Braedey and Scooby, forcing it to stop and reverse.
Willow, who has a detonator in her hand, smirked to herself, then pushed the detonator button again, as another wall of fire erupts from behind the Monster Car to try and box it in. The Monster Car now saw the two friends running towards the crane, and began to race off after them. But as it does so, it failed to see the hidden spring under the dirt, which launch the car up into the air.
"Freddie. NOW!" Willow called out to the blonde leader, as the Monster Car flew into the air, getting under the magnet of the crane.
But, as Fred pulled the lever, the magnet didn't seem to work. The Monster Car missed the crane now landing back on the ground, then it spun around 180 to face the Mystery Inc. gang, revving it's engine angrily, ready to mow them down. But, as it was about to accelerate at them, a large forklift truck suddenly rolled up and slammed into the side of it, and smashed the wrecked car against a wall, shattering all the windows in the process, and pinning the vehicle down against the wall.
"Whoa. I did not expect that." Braedey muttered in surprise, then walked over to the wrecked Plymouth. "Consider yourself scrapped!" He then kicked the front of it.
"Ha! Like, nice." Shaggy said to Braedey, the latter shrugging back.
Fred then walked over to the driver's side door, and ripped it open, pulling out the driver. The person looked to be a scruffy old man in his 40's with a beard and with oil stains on his clothing.
"Like, it's Mr. Kenworth, the grouchy truck driver who was down on his luck." Shaggy realised.
"Mr. Kenworth?" Scooby wondered in confusion. The gang were also surprised.
"It now makes all complete sense." Someone spoke up, and everyone looked over to see a man climbing out of the forklift, amazingly without any bones broken from the impact.
The person happened to be a tall Caucasian male with a sturdy build. He has long black hair that was tied in a ponytail at the back with a black moustache and beard. He also wore thin-framed glasses. His attire consisted of a brown coat over a black shirt and brown trousers.
"Wait a second. You're the author Ben Ravencroft." Willow realised.
"That's right. I take it you've read my books." Ben said with a gentle tone to her.
"Yes. I loved 'The Ghouling'." Willow then got back on track regarding the mystery. "So, how did you know it was him?"
"The reason why I was doing all of this haunting was because there's a reservoir of oil deep below the junkyard." Kenworth said. "It was gonna make me rich!"
"And, that's why he created the Monster Car." Velma deduced. "He wanted nobody around the junkyard, so he can try and get the land for himself, and illegally drill for oil. That way, he'd sell it for much more than normally, and make millions."
"And I would've gotten away with it too, if it weren't for you meddling kids and that author." Kenworth snarled, just as the Police now arrived to take him away.
"Well, another mystery solved, without any bones or injuries broken in the process." Braedey said to the others, Scooby and Shaggy agreeing.
"Mr. Ravencroft, I am a huge fan of your work. I have read all your books in which my opinion are the best horror stories ever written." Velma said to Ben, almost starstruck of seeing her favourite author.
"Thanks, Velma." Ben thanked to her.
Velma gasped in amazement. "You know my name?"
"And Daphne's and Fred's." Ben chuckled. "And Scooby and Shaggy's, of course. And, of course Braedey's. I've admired your work on revealing the supernatural mysteries for some time now. I mean, basically we're in the same business of mystery and the acult, right?" Ben said to them all.
"Oh please, what we do pales in comparison with the sheer ponderable fright of your novels." Velma shrugged innocently.
Ben shook his head. "I wouldn't say that."
"I guess we can't thank you enough for catching that man." Willow thanked, and she shook Ben's hand.
"Well, I guess it was a consequence for me being here." Ben replied. "I was just walking about nearby to enjoy the cool night air, until I heard the sound of some kind of a ghostly engine, and when I saw that little boy and your dog in trouble, I decided to intervene."
"Well, thank you." Velma thanked him. "So, where are you heading off to now?" She asked.
"I'm heading back to Oakhaven, my hometown back in Massachusetts." Ben replied to Velma's question, then he had an idea. He looked to the gang. "But, I have been thinking. Why don't you all come along with me? Consider it a thank you for what I've done." He offered to them.
"Really?" Velma asked in excitement.
"Well, I guess we can't say no to that." Fred shrugged to the others, and they nodded in agreement.
A few minutes later, Mystery Inc. were soon packing up all of their gear and tools, all of them ready to go forth to the North of the USA. Willow decided to come along as well, just to be on the safe side. Scorcher and Sheeva were asked if they wished to come with, but they informed the gang they gave family matters to attend to, so the gang understood, and Amber offered to watch over the headquarters while they were away.
For the journey, Fred decided to take the Mystery Machine along for the ride, since it would've be the same without their van, and after a while, everything and everyone was ready to go. Their trip to Massachusetts was off and away...
