Everyone soon got to Ben's studio, Thorn walked over to take a look at the portrait of Sarah, learning about the ancestor herself. Willow and Braedey stood nearby Sheeva, Scorcher, and Amber, all five of them catching up and explaining about what's happened since they arrived in Oakhaven.
"It's so cool." Dusk looked at the portrait.
"She's beautiful." Braedey added.
"Yes, I think so too." Ben sighed softly to himself. "And that's why I get upset when people accuse her as a witch."
Fred cleared his throat to make the Hex Girls pay attention to him. "I think I owe you girls an apology for being... well..."
"Witches." Daphne spoke up for him. "We saw you perform some kind of ritual in your shed." Willow nodded in agreement to this.
"Witches?" Dusk scoffed. "We just pretend that stuff. It's just a gimmick for our band."
"We're Eco-Goths." Luna explained to the others calmly. "Kinda like Wiccans. Just ask Thorn, she's the one."
"Yeah, right." Thorn laughed. "Sally McKnight, 1/16th on my mother's side. And that ritual you saw was just peppermint and cloves to soothe my vocal chords. You think it's easy singing this stuff?" She asked to them.
"Thorn's herbal vapor's awesome." Dusk added. "We all use it before and after every show."
"Oh, that does make sense." Willow shrugged innocently.
"But, what about your fangs?" Shaggy asked, pointing to his own teeth.
"My Dad's a dentist." Luna explained, now taking out her vampire fangs to show in front of Scooby. "He outfitted the band."
"Oh, I see." Braedey realised.
"Rikes!" Scooby yipped and he jumped into Shaggy's arms for protection.
"Like, we knew it all along." Shaggy said nervously as Thorn and Dusk took out their fangs. "Right, Scoob?"
Braedey laughed, then he took Luna's fangs. He popped them in his mouth and he hissed at Shaggy to scare him. Shaggy screamed and he dropped Scooby by accident. Braedey laughed, now giving the fangs back to Luna.
There was then a knock at the door and everyone saw the mayor come in with Mr. McKnight alongside him. "Mr. Mayor?" Willow asked in surprise.
"We've been ringing your doorbell for sometime, and-" Mayor Corey began but was cut off by Ben, who smiled apologetically.
"Oh, sorry about that." Ben walked over, putting his hands behind his back. "I've been meaning to fix that for years. What's up, Mayor?" He asked.
"Well, Ben..." Mayor Corey began and sighed. "I feel real bad about everything, and I wanted to apologies for using your ancestor in our little publicity stunt."
"Yeah, the tourist trade was slow." Mr. McKnight added in. "We were desperate."
"Right, and you once told me that supernatural phenomena always attracts people." Mayor Corey continued on.
"We used Sarah, because..." Mr. McKnight heaved a sharp sigh to Ben. "We accidentally dug up her grave." That got everyone's attention.
"What grave?" Ben asked, his eyes widening.
"Yeah. What grave?" Braedey asked in confusion.
"I'm sorry, Ben, but you see..." Mayor Corey gulped as he was about to explain, and he looked Ben dead in the eyes. "I lied to you when you asked me if we found anything of Sarah's while we were building the puritan village."
"We did." Mr. McKnight added in. "It was her grave marker. We found it in a bulldozed pile of dirt and rocks. We didn't want to upset you."
"But that's all we found." Thr mayor nervously chuckled. "No bones."
"No book?" Ben asked, somberly.
"Nothing but the grave marker." Mr. McKnight confirmed. "We swear, Ben."
"We don't even know where her grave is." The mayor shrugged in agreement. "It could be anywhere between Miller's Creek and the big tree stump."
Everyone then gasped as they remembered an event from earlier. Velma now walked up to Sarah's portrait. The oak tree Sarah was standing in front of looked vaguely familiar to her. She then turned to the cowardly teen of the group. "Shaggy, do you still have that shoe buckle Scooby and Braedey found today?" Velma asked.
"Why, this one?" Shaggy took the rusty buckle off and he handed it to Velma. "Here."
Velma took the buckle and she closely observed it. She looked closely at it and over at the buckle around Sarah's book in the portrait. She seemed to have an expression of thought on her face.
Braedey then looked over to the Great Dane. "Scooby, can you show us exactly where you found this buckle?" He asked to Scooby.
"Ri rink so." Scooby replied as they were on their way back in the town square from where they started.
"Lead the way, dog." Amber shrugged, now following after the others out of the studio, heading off to the village.
Later on, down by the village, Scooby led the gang to where he found the buckle with Shaggy and Braedey. He sniffed the ground and made it to the oak tree stump and found the spot.
"Where, Scooby?" Braedey asked.
"Rere." Scooby pointed to show everyone the tree stump.
Velma walked over carrying a lantern and Ben bent and looked with her. Braedey walked up behind Ben and took a look as well. "All these years, I was searching around the wrong oak tree." Ben couldn't believe it. It was staring at him right in the face.
"Right." Velma agreed. "I believe this is what's left of the tree where Sarah did her healing."
"You never even noticed it because it was cut down several hundred years ago." Braedey added.
"That's something else." Willow commented softly. Unbeknown to her, a figure was sprinting over the rooftops of the buildings, heading off to somewhere, which got Scorcher and the girls' attention.
"You gotta dig deeper, Scooby." Velma told the Great Dane.
"Ruh-uh." Scooby shook his head in denial.
"How about you do it for a Scooby Snack?" Braedey tempted, taking out the box of Scooby's favourite treats.
"Ruh-uh." Scooby still wouldn't go for it. "Ro ray!"
"Okay. How about two Scooby Snacks?" Willow now took out a couple of pieces to show Scooby.
Scooby thought about it for a minute. He then licked his lips and gave in. "Rokay."
"Good thinking." Velma smiled to Braedey and Willow.
Braedey nodded, and Willow threw the Scooby Snacks in the air for Scooby to catch in his mouth. Scooby jumped up and he caught them, chewed them and swallowed happily. He then zipped over to the oak tree stump and he started digging wildly like he did earlier, and everyone stepped away to avoid getting dirty.
"What did you find?" Ben asked as he heard Scooby hit something in the ground.
"Rox!" Scooby replied from inside the hole.
"Rocks?" Ben was confused.
Scooby then crawled out, and pulled out a dirty box that was underground to show everybody. "A box!" Daphne gasped in surprise.
"Ooh..." Braedey stepped over to get it.
Ben rushed over, shoving Braedey away and knelt down to get the box. Daphne and Willow picked Braedey up, as he dusted himself clean and stood by the women's side.
"Mr. Ravencroft, are you okay?" Willow asked.
"Just... a little excited..." Ben replied, now taking a deep breath. Luckily for him, the box was unlocked. He saw the book which looked more like a demonic book than a wiccan heal book.
"Looks kinda evil to belong to a Wiccan healer." Daphne observed uneasily.
"Ben, this doesn't seem to be a journal at all." Velma added in as Ben flipped through the pages.
"Because it isn't, Velma." Ben now glared at her with a frightening smile, something that Ben never pulled. "Sarah isn't a Wiccan, she is indeed... a witch."
Everyone gasped in shock and fear. They have been deceived.
