With Sharper's birthday coming up, I figured I'd do something special for him. This is gonna be my take on 'Mad Dogs and Tigers', his first major work but told through the eyes of Milo Murphy. Since this is a different take, some changes are to be made. So let's go over some of them first:

South Panola:

Paul Rebolledo (Ash's rival from Diamond and Pearl) will replace Ash as FB #18 as Ash will be moving to Middleton to join Tracey Sketchit on the Mad Dogs. Paul will be in 9th grade here. This is owing to Ash and Gary's rivalry through the first 5 seasons of Pokemon. Also replacing Todd Snap will be Drew Hayden (May's coordinator rival through the Hoenn/Battle Frontier arcs). He will be FB #24 on Panola. He'll be in 10th grade.

Middleton:

Gus and Mikey will not be on roster - Gus will be on Middelton Jr. ROTC and Mikey's on chorus, owing to their respective characters on the show. Jaden Yuki and Atticus Rhodes will take Gus and Mikey's respective positions. Both will be in 11th grade.

Zack Underwood will take Trevor Moore's spot as #24, Milo Murphy will be #13 (owing to his family bad luck curse). Both will be in 9th grade.

Sharper's character Ladario Weathers will switch from #13 to #8.

Ash Ketchum will, of course, have his Pikachu with him (You just can't have one without the other and in my eyes, splitting them up is a total Pokemon sin) and he'll replace Brian Williams as RB/FB #20, in honor of his favorite NASCAR driver, Tony Stewart. He and Gary will also be in 10th grade. As for what girl on the cheer squad Ash is closest with...you'll just have to read and find out. There will be other changes too, you'll just have to read to spot them.

Of course, everything mentioned in this story is copyright of their respective owners. So without further delay, let's get started! And Sharper...happy birthday, man! Here's to many more!

Setting: Danville, Mississippi

Along Druid Drive in Danville, the news was buzzing about the upcoming series between the Middleton Mad Dogs and the South Panola Tigers - based out of Batesville, Mississippi. South Panola was the number one prep football team in the country and this best of seven series was to determine who would lay claim to the title of best prep football team in the Magnolia State. Just like the Olympics, this kind of series was held quadrennially - meaning every four years.

The setup for this clash of titans, per the rules of the Mississippi High School Athletic Association, was as follows - the first two games would be played on the South Panola campus in Batesville. Games 3 and 4 would take place in Middleton. Should a Game 5 be necessary, that too would take place at Middleton High. If there were a Game 6 and 7, those would take place back at the South Panola campus.

We'll pick things up at the home of Middleton High's star freshman cheerleader Melissa Chase. She, alongside her cousin Candace Flynn and close friends Amanda Lopez and Lydia Brooks, set Middleton High ablaze with their fantastic routines, much to the chagrin of captain Veruca Salt and her Mean Middleton Posse as well as wowing Melissa's personal idol - legendary teen hero Kim Possible. It was 6:30 AM in Danville. Melissa was in her room, getting ready for the day when she got a text from her boyfriend Milo Murphy.

Milo: Good morning, my ginger beauty!

"Now that's how to start a day..." Melissa mused to herself as she texted Milo back.

Melissa: Good morning, my chaotic angel! Ready for the pep rally on Friday?

Milo: Thought I was, but now I'm not sure. This SP team is insanely tough. Everyone on TV says we have no chance to win.

Melissa: Come on, Milo! Where's that optimistic spark I know and love?

Milo: It's still here, just not exploding at the moment.

Melissa: I'm sure it'll come out once I have you in my arms. Sara still taking us to school today?

Milo: She is.

Melissa: Cool. I'll be at your place after breakfast, 'kay?

Milo: Alright, Melissa. Catch ya later, babe!

Melissa: Later, honey! XOXO

Melissa ran downstairs in her signature black top, white blazer, pink skirt and her new red Kyrie Irving sneakers and greeted her mom - John P. Trystate Elementary School principal Pepper Chase.

"Good morning, mom!"

"Good morning, my little spark! All set for the pep rally today at school?" her mother asked.

Melissa sighed and messed with her bright red hair. "I am...not sure about Milo, though. This series against South Panola has him on edge."

That's when her father, firefighther/paramedic Richard Chase, spoke up. "Strange. Milo's always been the cheerful, optimistic one. He's not one to let the talking heads on TV get to him."

"I know, dad. I just wish I knew how to calm him down," Melissa lamented as she took her Honey Nut Cheerios and poured a glass of milk and a cup of hazelnut coffee.

"Knowing how you are with Milo, you'll find a way," Mr. Chase told his daughter, then noting the coffee in her hands. "You? Drinking coffee? Are you feeling alright, Melissa?"

"Got a long day ahead of me between school, cheer practice and the pep rally not to mention the South Panola series coming up. Borrowing from Super Mario, I'm gonna need a major 1-Up."

Both her parents laughed it off, her mom saying "That's our girl!"

Her dad looked at his watch as Melissa finished her breakfast. "Hey, you gotta get going. Milo and Sara are probably waiting at their place right now!"

"Oh snap, you're right!" Melissa snapped as she grabbed her backpack and cheer bag, hugging her parents as she headed out the door. "Bye, mom and dad!"

"Bye, Melissa!" her parents said in unision as Melissa shut the door, making the 50 foot trip to Milo's house.

It would take Melissa mere minutes to reach 5521 Druid Drive - home of her childhood best friend (and now boyfriend) Milo Murphy. She gave the front door hers and Milo's secret knock - Randy Newman's 'I Love LA', the win song for her favorite baseball team, the Los Angeles Dodgers - and no sooner than she did, the jinx of Middelton High appeared.

"Hi Melissa!" Milo cheerfully greeted, pecking Melissa on the cheek.

"Hey there, tiger!" Melissa giggled, kissing Milo back.

"Don't mention tigers to me right now, Melissa...not with this big series coming up..."

"Right. Sorry, Milo..." Melissa apologized, holding Milo close as the duo walked in. "You just finish breakfast?"

"Yeah. Came right on time. Sara's just getting ready. She's more scared about the kind of tricks Veruca could pull."

The Veruca in question was none other than Middleton cheerleading captain and peanut heiress Veruca Salt. She was head of what was known as the Mean Middleton Posse and she was as slippery as they came. She had been warned about her behavior countless times by her close friend on the football team - Charlie Bucket. But time and again, she disregarded his sound advice.

"Relax, Milo. Kim Possible will make sure those skanks don't pull anything funny!"

"I sure hope you're right, Melissa. After all...she still has that group of corrupt lawyers. And those dirtbags destroyed a child's teddy bear right in front of them. And if Veruca's past history with guys is true...oh, I don't even wanna think about it!"

Melissa giggled and kissed Milo to calm him down. "Milo, you're starting to sound like my cousin Candace. Relax. Nothing she does will tear us apart!"

Milo's older sister Sara came down the stairs soon afterwards. "Good morning, Melissa! You and Milo ready to go?"

"We are, Sara. Amanda and Zack are meeting us at school."

"Let's be off, you two lovebirds!" Sara said as she, Milo and Melissa headed off, piling into her silver 2005 Chevy Monte Carlo and drove off to Middleton High.

About a 40 minute drive later, the trio was at Middleton High, where the marquee read 'We Ain't Afraid Of No Tigers!'

Sure enough, Zack and Amanda were waiting outside for the trio. "Hey, guys!" Zack greeted.

"Hey Zack, Amanda!" Melissa replied.

"Well, here it goes...the calm before the storm..." Milo stated ominously as out of the corner of Melissa's eye...stood Veruca Salt.

"Veruca Darling Salt..."

"Melissa Sabrina Chase..."

The clash is about to begin. Final cheer/football practice and the cookout are next!
