Chapter 19: Sonic and the Secret Scrolls:
Sonic's POV:
I saw Bunnie and Tails. "Whoa! What's up, guys," I asked.
"We have a surprise for you, Sonic," says Tails.
"Cool! I love surprises," I said.
"That's good cuz this one's gonna put ya right up own cloud nine, sugar-hog," says Bunnie.
. . .
We were on our way. "Are we there yet? I hate going this slow. Boring," I said.
"Almost there, sugar," says Bunnie.
We pass through a long grass bush.
"We're here, Sonic," says Tails.
"So, what's the big surprise," I asked.
"Ta-da," says the Freedom Fighters as they pull a handkerchief.
"Another plane," I asked.
"Isn't it past cool," asks Tails.
"Yes, yes; way pahst cruel," says Antoine.
"We call it the Freedom Stormer," says Sally.
"It's...really great," I said. I don't see why we need another plane, we already got Tails' X Tornado.
"We're flying it to Maga to look for the Secret Scrolls," says Sally.
"What's a 'Maga'," I asked.
"It's an ancient city hidden deep in the Great Mountains," says Sally.
"So, um, what's a secret scroll," asks Sonic.
"My father told me the scrolls had great powers, but that no one has been able to find them," says Sally.
"Sure. That's why they're called 'secret' scrolls," I said.
"Well, I think we can find them," says Sally.
"And you're gonna fly there in that air jalopy," I asked, "wouldn't it be easier to use the X Tornado?"
"I don't want a chance Knuckles might recognize it," says Sally, "and it's not a jalopy." She then gets out NICOLE. "NICOLE, boot up the map of Maga."
"Accessing, Sally..." NICOLE emits a spherical holographic display, showing the Great Mountains. It puts a red dot on one of the central mountains with buildings on it.
"This is Maga. I really researched this and found these markers. They'll lead us straight to the temple where the scrolls are," says Sally.
"Well, I'll go," I said, "but I'm sticking to the ground. I'm not sure I trust this thing."
Sally's POV:
We're preparing to launch the Freedom Stormer.
"Right rudder," says Rotor.
"Check," I said.
"Left rudder," says Rotor.
"Check," I said.
Antoine looks around, then out the window, nervously.
"Antoine, tell meh the truth; are y'all afraid of flying," asks Bunnie.
"Moi," asks Antoine, "uh, I ahm a-scahred of ahbso-toot-ly naht one sing."
Sonic's POV:
"Turn us loose, Sonic," says Rotor.
"Roger," I said. I then ran over to a nearby tree, which has a rope tied to it holding the plane in place. I then untied the rope, and I ran back to the plane and removed the blocks holding the wheels in place. The plane then started to take off. "Good luck!"
Sally's POV:
The plane rolls down a hill in a very rickety manner, the tires hitting many bumps along the way. Inside, Antoine holds anxiously to the front seat with his eyes closed.
"Magnifique," says Antoine, "I lahve to fly so much like ze beerds ahnd ze bees."
The plane goes over a cliffside and falls down slightly, then begins to enter a downward glide, all the while with Antoine screaming.
"Rotor, what's wrong," I asked.
Rotor is pulling on the throttle, but it isn't responding.
"Throttle's locked up! Gimmie a hand," says Rotor.
I then tried to help, but the throttle won't budge. The plane has now entered into a fall down a canyon.
"Come on, Rotor! Pull! Pull," I said.
We kept trying to pull the throttle and we almost crashed, but then we got it done and we were flying again.
Sonic's POV:
"Too close for the old comfort. Juice it loose time," I said.
Sally's POV:
We arrived in the Great Mountain. "Next time, we leave ze flying to tails," says Antoine.
"Maga should be right over this next mountain..." I began. We then all saw.
"Magnifique," says Antoine.
"Oh; it's even more incredible than legend describes," I said.
"Woo-wee! Just look at that ground come rushin' up to meet we'uns. Looks lak we're..." Bunnie begins.
"Bunnie! Will you please to be shutteeng up your own fahce," says Antoine.
The landing area ends at a cliffside.
"Oh, man! We'll never stop this crate in time," says Rotor.
Antoine continues to scream.
"Antoine, shut up," the three of us said.
We were heading for the edge, but then Sonic came and saved us.
"Aw, man. Too close," says Rotor.
"I thought...oh, never mind what I thought," I said.
"Can Bunnie open her aahs now," asks Bunnie.
"Yep. It's okay. We're safe," I said.
Bunnie looks around. She does a sigh of relief and looks around.
"Mah, oh mah. Look at all that solid ground, Antoine," says Bunnie, "Antoine?"
Bunnie turns around to see Antoine cowering away, hiding his head under the seat. As everybody is out of the plane, Sonic runs up to us. "Everyone cool," asks Sonic.
Bunnie helps Antoine out of the plane. He stands on the wing, emotionally scared and shaking.
"Antoine, y'all look a little own the greenish side," says Bunnie.
"For Ant, that's normal," says Sonic.
"I hahve nevair feeleeng mahre fine een my entire day," says Antoine.
A bout of nausea kicks in, and Antoine covers his mouth with his hands. His face goes green as he tries to hold his dinner in. He runs away to take care of business away from the rest of us.
"Well," asks Sonic.
"Well, what," I asked.
"Aren't you going to thank me," asks Sonic.
"For what," I asked.
"For saving ya," says Sonic.
"Sonic, we were in the plane. If we had gone off the cliff, we would be flying," I said.
"Hmm. Good point. But where would ya land," asks Sonic.
"Oh. Good point. Thank you, Sonic," I said.
"For what," asks Sonic.
I was getting annoyed.
Sonic's POV:
We then began our journey through Maga. We then stopped at the sights. "That is truly amazin'," says Bunnie.
"Yo, Sal. What's that," I asked.
"The Arrow Stone. It marks the entrance to the ancient city," says Sally.
A large gust of wind can be heard that frightens Antoine.
"W-w-whaht ees zat sound," asks Antoine.
"I dunno, Ant. Maybe it's a... MONSTER," I said.
Antoine screams, then jumps into Rotor's arms. Meanwhile, Sally and Bunnie take a closer look at the lettering on the stone arrow.
"What's it say, Sally-girl," asks Bunnie.
"I don't know. It's the ancient language of Mobius," says Sally, "NICOLE, can you translate?"
"Translation...We do not see things as they are. We see things as WE are," says NICOLE.
"Hmm. well, I ahm shoeless," says Antoine.
"You mean 'clueless', Ant," I said. Sally looks over where the arrow is pointing, at a group of large hedges with a rock structure behind us. "Let's do it, Sal."
"Okay. First, we have to get through that hedge," says Sally.
"That hedge? No prob," I said.
"Careful, Sonic! Magan legends say the city is booby-trapped," says Sally.
You guys better get those dirty thoughts out of your head... I know I'll try. "Me? Trip a trap? I don't think so! Spin to win time," I said. I then entered a spin dash and I cut through the hedge and the others follow, but behind us... the hedge fixed itself!
"That's incredible," says Sally.
"How'd it do that," I asked.
"Ziss plahce ees geeving me sahme creepies," says Antoine.
. . .
We came across a stone wall.
"Aah bet the temple is own the other side of that wall," says Bunnie.
"I think you're right, Bunnie. It is," says Sally.
"Cool. But how do we get over," asks Rotor.
Sally then looks at the map area with NICOLE.
"What's next, Sal," I asked.
"Well, we have to find the first marker, the Chair," says Sally.
The wind returns, scaring both Antoine and Bunnie. Sally turns off NICOLE and listens.
"Strange. That sound is always right on schedule," says Sally as she looks at her watch, "it sounds every 2.10 minutes."
We then all covered our ears as debris starts flying around, with the wind speed increasing.
"We gotta find shelter," says Rotor.
"Behind that pillar! Grab on," I said as they all grabbed on, "hang tight!" We then got to the pillar, but the others disappeared. "Yo, guys! Where did everybody go?!"
"Here we are, Sonic," says Sally.
"Where? I can't see ya," I said. I then found them. "Man, that is too weird. That shadow makes you invisible."
"I ahm steell naht leeking ziss plahce too much," says Antoine.
"Come on. We have a lot to do," says Sally.
. . .
We then started walking. "Ya know, Antoine, as annoyin' as ya can be, it's still surprisingly nice that we can comfort each other, don't ya agree," asks Bunnie, but Antoine did not answer, "well, if you don't think so too..."
"UUUUUUUUUhhhhhhhhh... Bunnie... I think your comfort is crushing his hand," says Rotor.
Bunnie looks and realizes her robot hand is crushing Antoine's hand. "Wrong arm," says Bunnie. She then let's go.
"Merci," says Antoine, "ahnd I ahlso find you cahmforteeng... but tahke offense to zat ahnnoying remahrk!"
Sally scans a wall with an inscription with NICOLE.
"NICOLE, translate," says Sally.
"Translation...What one cannot achieve in learning, one will achieve in the light of day," says NICOLE.
"This stuff boggles the hedgehog mind," I said.
"It will become clear eventually. I hope," says Sally.
. . .
We're now walking around the city. "According to Maga's history, each marker represents a test based on the ancient degrees of awareness-intelligence, spirit, and courage-in which only the worthy can succeed," says NICOLE.
"That's 3 degrees, but they-yur's only 2 markers, right," asks Bunnie.
"Right. It does boggle the mind," says Sally.
"I ahm so tired, I could pahp," says Antoine as he flops down in front of a pillar.
"Sally, what are we looking for," asks Rotor.
"Something called the Chair," says Sally.
"Ze bed sound too much neecair," says Antoine.
"What kind of chair," I asked.
"I don't know," says Sally.
I then saw a light beam passing through a column and onto a stone chair. "Yep. Definitely a chair," I said, "*ssssst* Yeow! You are sizzlin', hedgehog!"
"What one cannot achieve in learning, one will achieve in the light of day," says NICOLE.
"Just like the inscription. Good work, Sonic," says Sally.
"So now what, Sal," I asked.
"I think...we sit," says Sally.
We then sat on the chair, waiting patiently. "Hey, you guys wanna hear a joke," asks Rotor, what di-" The Chair then started flying with us still sitting in it...
. . .
Now we're at a temple. "Oh, mah stars! this must be the place," says Bunnie.
"It is. Come on," says Sally.
. . .
We then entered the temple and found the scroll... but there are two! "One is a fake. If we approach the wrong platform, the temple will explode," says Sally.
"Weeth ahll do respect, Preencess, zat ees sahmetheeng you tell sahmeone... BEFAHRE YOU MAHKE ZEM CAHME HERE," says Antoine.
"Man, they sure don't make this easy," I said.
"Somewhere, there is an answer..." says Sally.
"Hey, what about all those hieroglyphics NICOLE's bin' translatin'," says Bunnie.
"Yes...Yes! The Arrow Stone. We each see things differently. That's it," says Sally.
"It-it is," asks Rotor.
"Yes. We overcame the first obstacle, the Chair, with our intelligence," says Sally.
"Thank you, thank you..." I said.
"Then this is the second degree of awareness - spirit," says Bunnie.
"Yo, that's us - the Freedom Fighters," I said.
"Yeah, we're survivors," says Rotor.
"That's it," we all said.
Sally then gets out NICOLE. "NICOLE, translate," says Sally.
"Accessing...The Secret Scrolls of Maga contained herein are the seven wonders of Mobius. Powerful, natural wonders, but dangerous if misused." There's a pause.
"Nicole, we're waiting," I said.
"The first wonder is the wind tunnel, called 'the Breath of Mobius'," says NICOLE.
"Blowhole. That's where the big wind came from," says Rotor.
"That's cool. what's next," I asked.
"Courage," says Sally. But then we saw Robotnik, Sleet, and Dingo.
"Surprise," says Robotnik.
"How did you guys get here," I asked.
"UUUUUUUUUhhhhhhhhh... Sleet, how did we get here," asks Robotnik.
"You got me," says Sleet, "according to the map... it doesn't make sense."
. . .
"Give me the scrolls, Princess," says Robotnik.
"That ain't gonna happen, Robuttnik. Snooze, ya loose," I said.
"As usual, you are making a serious mistake, hedgehog," says Robotnik.
"Gimmie a Sonic second, Robuttnik," I said. I then whispered to Sally. "Sal, when I juice, you guys run for it."
"I'm waiting, hedgehog," says Robotnik.
"Hey, that's my line," I said. I then started juicing and making monkeys out of Robuttnik, Sleet, and Dingo. Then Knuckles came out of nowhere and tried to punch me. Then My Uncle Chuck came and tried to attack me. "Oh, I get it now!" I then took them all down and grabbed the scroll and they disappeared. "I thought there was something strange when Sleet got down that cartoonish picture thing... plus Dingo didn't talk!" I then ran.
. . .
I got back to the others. "Robotnik was an illusion," says Sally, "to test our courage! Of course! Now, let's get on that plane!"
"On one condition," I said, "I get to fly it!"
. . .
We're all taking the plane and I'm driving.
"Too cool," I said.
"Ziss ees to be ze end of my hahndsahme self ahs I know eet," says Antoine.
"I liked it better when Sonic traveled by sneakers," says Sally.
Everyone then started to scream.
In the actual episode, it was the real Robotnik, I just made it an illusion because I wanted to. In the next chapter, the Great Forest is dying.
