Chapter 42: Game Guy:
Sonic's POV:
Sally and I are dismantling a ship.
"Any year now, Sal," I said.
"You know, your unremitting perseverance is an example to us all, Sonic," says Sally.
"Say what," I asked.
"Just move it," says Sally.
"Hold on to your socks, Sal," I said. I then carried a rope with an anchor, rising the ship's pieces.
"That's good Sonic," says Sally.
"Yeah! Any cool stuff for the Deroboticizer," I asked.
"No, nothing yet," says Sally.
"Man, what is all this junk? Hey, check this! A toaster," I said.
"Oh my Gosh, Sonic! That's a magnetic field generator," says Sally.
"You mean it's not a toaster? Then what's it do," I asked.
"It's a very powerful magnet," says Sally.
. . .
We brought it back to Angel Island. "Wow, it's still in excellent shape," says Sally.
"Let's check it out," I said.
"Careful Sonic! Switch that on and you'll attract every piece of metal within 50 feet," says Sally.
"Woah! That could be ugly," I said.
Knuckles and Espio were sparring. Then Tails came. "Sonic, SWATbots! They're chasing some guy this way," says Tails.
"Some guy," I asked.
"Yeah, over there," says Tails.
"I'll check it out," I said.
"Sonic, lead the bots back here," says Sally.
"What was that," asks Knuckles.
"That does not sound like the wisest idea," says Espio.
"I've got an idea, trust me," says Sally.
"You got it, Sal," I said. I then ran.
. . .
This ram was surrounded by swatbots. The ram then started fighting them. "Hahahaha! I'd like to stay, boys, but I have places to go and people to see," says the ram.
"Ooh, way cool moves, bud! Get ready to roll! I'll draw these bots off," I said.
"Emergency order override. Hedgehog. Priority one," says a Swatbot.
"That's why! Rip and Slip Time," I said.
I then led the swatbots back to where the others are waiting.
Sally's POV:
"Here they come," says Tails.
I then activated the magnet, and it attracts and deactivates the bots.
"That's the power converter," I said, "the magnet deactivated the bot. We can use a lot of these parts for the De-Roboticizer."
Sonic's POV:
Now we're getting to know our new friend. "So, I was on the way to this old fortress where Robotnik's holding my Freedom Fighters. And..."
"Wow! Did you say, 'Freedom Fighters'? Like us," I said.
"Not exactly. We're only six. Well, we were seven. Now there's only me," says Ari.
"Isn't that interesting? We've never heard of your group," says Sally.
"Well, before today, we've never heard of you either," says Ari.
"Look, anyone can say they're a Freedom Fighter," says Sally.
"Yo Sal, you're being mondo rude," I said.
"No, Sonic, I'm being mondo cautious. We know nothing about him. I don't know, something...just doesn't feel right," says Sally.
"Like what," I asked.
"Like the fact that another freedom fighter just happened to show up on Angel Island," says Sally.
"Sal, give the guy his props," I said.
"Props," asks Sally.
"Proper respect, lady. Bots were chasing him," I said.
Dr. Robotnik's POV:
We were listening to the conversation. "Fine. But Robotnik controls the bots," says the Princess.
"The princess may be a problem, sir," says Snively.
"Aah, but the rodent believes him, Snively...and that's what matters," I said.
Sonic's POV:
"Yeah, well I trust him," I said.
"Well, I don't," says Sally.
"I do," I said.
"I don't," says Sally.
"Excuse me. I don't wanna cause any trouble, so thanks for your help. I'll handle it from here. Good luck," says Ari. He then walks off.
"Smooth move, Sal," I said.
"Sonic, you're being too reckless, as usual," says Sally.
"Hey, what's so reckless about trusting somebody? You guys take the junk back to Knothole. I'm gonna help Ari," I said.
Sally's POV:
Tails, Antoine, and I are riding Dulcy, but Dulcy fell asleep. "Dulcy! Dulcy," I said.
Dulcy wakes up. "What," asks Dulcy.
"That tree," I said.
We then crashed into the tree. "I'm home, ma..." says Dulcy.
. . .
Bunnie's nursing Dulcy. "I didn't do it, ma...honest," says Dulcy.
"Now we connect this wire, and..." Rotor does so.
"Awaiting instructions," says the bot.
"What are your orders," I asked.
"Orders, pursue Freedom Fighter Ari...Do not capture...Drive to the fortress. Coordinates 3-6-2. Use Ari to force Priority One Hedgehog into trap."
"Where," asks Rotor.
"Fortress. Coordinates 7-5," says the bot.
"We have to warn Sonic," I said.
Sonic's POV:
Ari and I were on our way to Robotnik's fortress.
"Sonic, put these on," says Ari.
"What are they for," I asked.
"That patch of sand up ahead. Vibrations trigger hidden whirlpools. Look, just avoid the red areas," says Ari.
"No problem, Ari," I said.
Sally's POV:
I was riding Dulcy. " I know this is asking a lot, Dulcy, but can you go faster," I asked.
"OK!"
Sonic's POV:
"Man, it looks totally deserted. You sure your Freedom Fighters are in there," I asked.
"Yeah, I saw them," says Ari. Then a flying bot appears. "Sonic!"
"Got it, no problemo," I said. I then ran and the flying bot chased after me. "Man, this guy is a real pain in the..." The bot then bites me. "Yaaay! Wow, that's rude, man! Better teach you some manners." I then hid in the ground. When the bot passed me, I jumped up and threw the bot in a red area. "Ooh, his bite was worse than his bark!"
"Are you all right, Sonic," asks Ari.
"Yeah, as long as I don't sit down," I said.
. . .
We found the door and as we were about to enter, I thought I heard Sally. Ari then closed the door. I then thought I heard a crash.
Sally's POV:
"I'll pick up my room later, ma..." says Dulcy.
The fortress turns into a Robotnik fortress. "Oh my gosh, Dulcy... This is trouble," I said.
"There won't be any trouble, ma..." says Dulcy.
Sonic's POV:
We were looking at a TV monitor. "Yo! What's up with the weirdo TV," I asked.
"We have to unscramble it to get in," says Ari.
"You mean like eggs," I asked.
"Hmm...similar." Ari then manages to open the door and we entered...
. . .
Ari and I are in a dark room. "Man, oh man! Are those your Freedom Fighters, Ari," I asked.
"I'm afraid so," says Ari.
"Let's spring 'em," I said. I then sprung to one of the captured freedom fighters... but he disappeared. "Heh! What's up, Ari? What's going on?"
"I'm sorry, Sonic. I wish there were another way," says Ari. The door then closes.
"Hey Ari! Open up, man," I said.
"I'm afraid you're stuck with me, Hedgehog. But not to worry. I promise you won't be bored. Heeheeheehee," says Robotnik.
"Robotnik," I said.
Sally's POV:
"OK. When I push this button, I'm gonna fly backwards and rip out the door," says Dulcy.
"Dulcy," I said.
"Trust me..." says Dulcy.
"Wait! Don't!"
Dulcy presses the button and activates the Magnetic Field Generator. "This will work!" Dulcy crashes...again.
"Dulcy, talk to me," I said.
"I'm fine ma..." says Dulcy.
"Analysis complete, Sally," says NICOLE.
"Bad news first, NICOLE," I said.
"No access possible. Doors all code-locked," says NICOLE.
"Great," I said, "come on, Dulcy."
. . .
We then saw Ari getting into a hovercraft. "Where's Sonic," asks Dulcy.
"I don't know. But get ready to move," I said. The hovercraft then started to move. "I have to find out what's going on. Dulcy, can you catch that hovercraft?"
"It'll be a stretch, but I'll try," says Dulcy. We then chased after it.
Sonic's POV:
"Are you ready to play, my favorite rodent," asks Robotnik.
"Play what, chrome dome," I asked.
"A little game I created. Just for the two of us," says Robotnik. He then presses a button and I started to levitate.
"Yo Robuttnik, what's up," I asked.
"Why...you are, hedgehog," says Robotnik, "comfortable, rodent?"
"Let's do it, Robuttnik. I don't have all day," I said.
"That's true. You don't. Activate," says Robotnik.
Then a pinball appeared. Something tells me I'm not gonna like this game. Then a portal opened.
"Fascinating, isn't it hedgehog? It's a dimensional warp I created years ago," says Robotnik.
"You need to get out more, Robuttnik," I said.
"There are still some techno problems to solve. It seems that those who enter...never return," says Robotnik, "oh well, life is not perfect."
"Perfect means never having to see you again, moon-head," I said.
"Be careful what you wish for, rodent! Here are the rules. Hit your bumpers, and the portal closes a little. Hit my bumpers and... well... even you can figure that out! Let the game begin!"
The game then began. I hit my bumpers and the portal closes. "Bye bye portal. You lose, bullet-head!"
"Silly hedgehog. That was just the warm-up. I didn't want you to...strain yourself," says Robotnik.
The game then continued.
Sally's POV:
We were talking to Ari. "I had to do it," says Ari, "it was the only way to get that madman to release my freedom fighters!"
"Ari, if Robotnik has your freedom fighters, then-."
"Then what," asks Ari.
"Bad news," says Dulcy.
Sonic's POV:
I was getting sucked into the portal. But then Sally, Dulcy, and Ari came and grabbed me and got me out! Ari uses the magnet to mess with Robotnik's tech, allowing us to escape.
"HEDGEHOG!"
. . .
"So, you're leaving," I asked.
"For now," says Ari, "here, it's a list of other freedom fighters. It belongs to Sally's Father."
"Well, we've met the Wolf Pack," I said.
"Good luck, Sonic." Ari then leaves. There goes a good freedom fighter.
In the next chapter, the De-roboticizer is a success! Bunnie Rabbot and Uncle Chuck are back to their normal selves! But the Freedom Fighters' latest accomplishment seems too good to be true.
