Chapter 49: Drood Henge:

Sally's POV:

Dulcy and I were meeting with Sir Charles. He showed us a recording. "We're very close to finding the first Drood Henge scroll, Sir. Yes, Sir," says Snively.

"Who's he talking to," asks Dulcy.

"Robotnik. I could only record one side of the conversation," says Sir Charles.

"Yes, Sir. We will continue the search," says Snively.

"Drood Henge. There's something familiar about that name," I said.

"It was a royal family secret," says Sir Charles.

"R-Really? But I was never told," I said.

"You were only five when Robotnik took over. It concerns the legendary Deep Power Stones, capable of incredible power or incredible destruction," says Sir Charles.

"NICOLE, access information on Drood Henge," I said.

"Access denied," says NICOLE, "I'm sorry, Sally, but I cannot reveal anything!"

"We don't know where NICOLE came from," says Sir Charles, "but either way, you can't learn about Drood Hedge until you've come of age."

"But that's 2 years from now. In the meantime, we've gotta find this 'Drood Henge'," I said.

"Before Robotnik does. The idea of that fiend having such awesome power..." says Sir Charles.

Dr. Robotnik's POV:

"Oh, good news, Sir! I've found the first scroll," says Snively.

"Excellent, Snively. Keep searching. I've nearly translated their language," I said.

"Yes, Sir," says Snively.

"Input this data," I said.

Sonic's POV:

Tails and I saw Robuttnick's freighters. "Let's check this out," I said.

. . .

Tails and I were watching the robots.

"They're lookin' for somethin'," I said.

"But what," asks Tails.

"I don't know," I said, "man, I hate those orb-heads." They then found something. "I'm going for a close-up!" I then ran. I wonder what's in that box. I then saw some of the swatbots grabbed Tails. I then ran towards them. "Whoa! Guys, we gotta stop meetin' like this," I said.

"Hedgehog, priority one."

"Surrender, hedgehog."

"Nah! This hedgehog never gives up. Gettin' late. Outta here!" I then ran.

. . .

I then found Snively.

"Where -is- that rotten hedgehog? What was that," asks Snively.

"Que pasa, Snortly? That means 'What's up?'," I said.

"Take the hedgehog," says Snively. I then jumped down and grabbed him. "Hold your fire, hold your fire!"

"Good boy, Snobbly," I said, "how 'bout a tour?"

"Tour," asks Snively.

"Yeah. Let's start with the ol' power station," I said. I then took him there. "Now, tell Chrome-dome to release Tails."

"Release the prisoner," says Snively.

The swatbot releases Tails.

"You okay, little buddy," I asked.

"No problem," says Tails.

"Tell them all to return to stations," I said.

"Return to stations," says Snively.

"The hedgehog is way, way past cool," I said.

"The hedgehog is way, wa...huh? Hey," says Snively.

"Gotcha, Snobbly," I said.

. . .

"Hey, Slime-ly! How do we shut down the power station," I asked.

"I'm afraid it's rather complicated," says Snively.

"I got it," says Tails. He then shuts it down.

"I forget that this child is Dr. Robotnik's intellectual equal," says Snively.

"Let's go," I said. We then sped away with a screaming Snively.

. . .

"Enjoyed the quality time, Slime-ly," I said, "oh, and give our worst to the big, round guy. Ciao!" We then left.

"Oh, 'the big, round guy' won't like this at all. Oh, I hate my life."

Dr. Robotnik's POV:

"Sir," asks Snively.

"I've translated the ancient language, Snively. What is going on here," I asked.

"The, um...the hedgehog was here, Sir," says Snively.

"The hedgehog? When," I asked.

"Last night, Sir," says Snively.

"And... you're only telling me -now-" I asked.

"He destroyed the power station, Sir; it just came back online. But I found the second scroll," says Snively.

"That was fortunate timing, Snively. Transmitting translation key. I'm leaving immediately to personally supervise the dig. Have everything ready," I said.

Sally's POV:

I was riding Dulcy's back and she's snoring. "Dulcy," I said.

"What? Don't worry, ma, I cleaned the cave," says Dulcy.

"It's Sonic," I said.

"Sonic? Where," asks Dulcy.

"He's heading back to Angel Island," I said.

"Music to my ears. Going down," says Dulcy.

Snively's POV:

Robotnik's Hover Uni lands, as Robotnik exits.

"Sir! Sir! I used your translation to read the scrolls..." I said.

"And," asks Dr. Robotnik.

"I've located the chamber," I said.

"Hmm. It's about time," says Dr. Robotnik.

"You rotten bag of slime," I mumbled.

"Did you say something, Snively?"

"I said 'now is the time', Sir."

Sonic's POV:

Sally told me everything she knows so far.

"And NICOLE seems to know something, but she won't tell me," says Sally.

"Yo NICOLE," I said.

"Sonic, my main hedgehog. What up," asks NICOLE.

"I hate it when she talks like that," says Sally.

"Can you at least tell us what happens if Robotnik gets those D.P. Stones," I asked.

"Well, if I had to guess," says NICOLE, "he, more than likely, would use them to power a mechsuit if he were to get one!"

"Okay, next question," I said, "why can't you tell us anything more?"

"I'm sorry, but I cannot," says NICOLE, "none of you are ready to know."

"Know what," asks Sally.

"Hey, when we saw the bots at the dig... I think I saw one of those Deep Power Stones," says Tails.

"I know who we gotta talk to next," I said.

. . .

"Absolutely not," says Knuckles.

"Come on," I said, "we could use the Master Emerald against these stones!"

"Bad idea," says Knuckles, "if the Master Emerald's power were to ever mix with the Deep Power Stones, it could destroy all of Mobius as we know it!"

"But Robotnik already has the first," says Sally.

"Then I have to stay here and keep the Master Emerald safe," says Knuckles, "look, there are two. Keep Robotnik from finding the other one!"

. . .

Tails and I arrived. "There's the signal," says Tails, "Sally found one!"

"Where," I asked.

"Right... here," says Tails.

We then dug it up.

Dr. Robotnik's POV:

We saw. "I told you we should've had that fool in the mechsuit help us," says Snively, "he is an archaeologist after all."

"He is also a spineless worm who can't handle his wife," I said, "let's go!"

Sonic's POV:

The swatbots came after us. But I have a secret. We've been using a fake stone. "You're surrounded, hedgehog. I suggest you give me the stone," says Robotnik.

"No way, Robuttnik! If I can't have it..." I began.

"No, no, no, hedgehog. Don't do it! Don't do it!"

"...no one can." I then destroyed the fake stone.

"No matter, hedgehog. I may not have the Power Stone, but I do have you," says Robotnik.

Then Dulcy came and carried us away. "Later," I said.

. . .

"So, Tails' plan worked," asks Knuckles.

"Yes," says Sally, "but one day, Robotnik might try to look for the stone."

"And we'll be ready," I said.

In the next chapter, Uncle Chuck finds himself increasingly at risk operating as a spy in Robotropolis.
