Chapter 1
The Gang Reunites
It was a normal day at Dinkley's Mystery, Inc. Book Shoppe in Coolsville, South Carolina. The proprietor was known as Velma Dinkley. Currently, she was on her cell phone talking to a customer about holding quite a few books. "Yes, we do carry the Hair Raiser series," Velma sighed as she spoke with the customer. "Number 23: The Vampire Village? Got it. Number 24: The Creepy Clown Town? Got it. Number 25: Menace at Mummy Manor? Got it." As she spoke with her customer, she pulled said books off of the shelf. "Yes, I'll hold them 'til Tuesday," she said to the customer, who then clarified what they actually meant. "Two weeks from Tuesday? Oh, yeah. That's fine. Bye." As soon as she finished, she hung up and carried the books over to the television, which showed her old friend, Daphne Blake, on a talk show. "Solving mysteries was a lot more fun than selling them," she sighed. Just then, the brass bell on the store front rang as the door opened. In walked a teenage girl with light mulberryish gray skin with moderate violet-colored eyes and moderate sapphire blue hair with moderate violet and brilliant rose colored streaks. She wore a light-blue shirt with purple stripes that had brilliant rose colored bow at the neckline, a moderate violet colored skirt with the symbol of a sparkle on it, which also had pockets to keep important items, such as her phone, in, light blue ankle-high socks, moderate sapphire colored shoes with brilliant rose colored laces and moderate violet soles, a moderate violet colored sparkle-shaped hair holder holding her ponytail in place, and a pair of angled black-framed glasses that sat upon on her face. The girl's name was Twilight Sparkle. She was a very close friend of Velma's ever since the two of them attended high school.
"Hi, Velma!" Twilight said as she walked in. "Oh, hello, Twilight. Nice to see a familiar face every now and then ever since the gang broke up," sighed Velma. "Yeah, I heard about that. Apparently, Daphne was getting tired of the monsters being fake and wanted to find real monsters," said Twilight, adjusting her glasses. "But there's no such thing as monsters. We've proven that time and time again," said Velma. "Maybe wherever you guys have been. But I've heard rumors of a place down in Louisiana that has a school filled with monsters," Twilight said smugly. "Probably just some con artists hiding out trying to scare the locals," Velma said in reply. "You never know, Velma. Besides, doesn't it sound the least bit interesting? I mean, if you and the gang were still together, you'd go investigate," said Twilight. "But as far we know, that's impossible with Daphne running her own show, Fred working as her cameraman, not to mention Scooby and Shaggy working airport security to find things like contraband food items." "Knowing those two, they'll probably just eat all of the food they find," Velma chuckled. "No doubt. And I know of one person who deeply misses them," said Twilight with a smug smile. "Let me guess, Sunset Shimmer," Velma replied. "Bingo," said Twilight. Just then, Velma's phone rang and she answered it. "Mystery, Inc. Book Shoppe?" Velma said. The voice that she heard on the other end of the line made her eyes brighten with excitement. "Freddy?! Jinkies! Sounds great! Count me in!" She hung up the phone and smiled excitedly. "What was that all about?" asked Twilight. "No time to explain in great detail. Are you able to contact the rest of your friends?" said Velma. "I think so, why?" asked Twilight. "Tell them that we're going to Daphne's house for a surprise," said Velma.
Later, in front of Daphne's house, Daphne, who was wearing a green sleeveless shirt underneath a purple suit, was waiting for Fred. Eventually, Fred pulled up in front of her house in a 1995 Chevrolet Astro that was painted a medium blue with a horizontal green stripe around it. Behind the window were the words Coast to Coast with Daphne Blake, the show that Daphne hosted, with Fred as her producer. "Sorry I'm late, Daph. The traffic was murder," Fred said, getting out of the vehicle in his light blue shirt and white vest. He then asked her by the small amount of luggage that she had if she hadn't forgotten anything. "Fred! What is with you?" she asked sternly. "Yes, I'm sure. I'm sure." He then opened the back of the van, revealing the rest of their friends. Not only was there Velma, Shaggy, and Scooby-Doo, who was a giant talking Great Dane, but there were also seven others. There was Twilight and her friends, Pinkie Pie, Rainbow Dash, Applejack, Rarity, Fluttershy, and Sunset Shimmer, a girl who was madly in love in Shaggy.
Pinkamena Diane Pie, or just Pinkie Pie, had light ceriseish gray skin with pale, light grayish cerulean-colored eyes and brilliant cerise-colored poofy hair. She wore a white sleeveless shirt that had three balloons on it. Two of them blue and the one in the middle being yellow. She also wore a skirt with three different shades of pink, white leggings, and blue high-top sandals with pink straps.
Fluttershy was a kind and timid girl with pale, light grayish olive skin, moderate opal-colored eyes and pale, light grayish rose hair with light mulberryish gray eye shadow. She wore a brilliant cerise-colored dress with light green frills that had three pink butterflies on it. She also wore pink laced high heels that went up to her ankles with the end resembling butterflies. She also had a butterfly hairclip on the left side of her hair.
Rarity, the fashionista and a close friend of Daphne, had light sapphire bluish gray skin with moderate azure-colored eyes and moderate indigo colored hair with a gradient of dark purple to moderate purple on the sides, along with cyan-colored eyeshadow. She wore a light-blue sleeveless dress held together by a purple sash that had three diamonds in the middle, with yellow trim at the neckline that was outfitted with diamonds. She also had golden wristbands, three diamonds on her hair as a hairpin and a purple skirt and purple heels that were outfitted with beautiful diamonds.
Rainbow Dash, the tomboy of the bunch, had light ceruleanish gray skin with moderate cerise-colored eyes and long hair that was every color of the rainbow, hence her name. She wore a white shirt with a blue stripe that had a picture of rainbow-colored lightning bolt coming out of a cloud underneath a blue sports jacket. She also had rainbow-colored wristbands, navy pants with rainbow stripes and rainbow-colored sneakers.
Applejack, who was a farm girl, had pale, light grayish amber skin with moderate sap green eyes and pale, light grayish olive hair tied in a short ponytail with a red hair tie. She wore white-and-green colored t-shirt with a picture of an apple on it. Her skirt, held together by a belt, was similar to the color of blue jeans and even had pockets, similar to Twilight's skirt. She also had brown leather boots that had three apples on them. On her head was something she would never go anywhere without, her very own Stetson hat that her parents gave her when she was young.
Finally, there was Sunset Shimmer, the girl who had a huge crush on Shaggy Rogers. Sunset had light amber skin with moderate cyan-colored eyes and brilliant amaranth-colored hair with light apple green stripes. She wore an orange shirt that had a picture of shimmering sunset underneath a black yellow-spiked jacket. She also had a magenta-colored skirt with two black pockets, as well as two black boot-like heels covered with gray and magenta-colored metal dots.
Confetti instantly came out, thanks to Pinkie's party cannon. "Surprise! Happy birthday, Daphne!" they all shouted. Scooby was the happiest to see Daphne, as he licked her face upon finally seeing her again. "Gosh, it's great to see you all," Daphne chuckled. "I've been working so hard, I guess I forgot my own birthday." "It was my idea and I told Fred about it," Pinkie said with a wink. "Typical Pinkie, you never change," laughed Daphne. "I hope you don't mind, but I asked the gang and the others to come along," said Fred. "Oh, Freddy. This is the best birthday present ever," said Daphne, giving him a hug. "It'll be just like old times." "Reah! Rold rimes!" said Scooby, licking them both. "Easy, boy," chuckled Fred. "It's great to see you, too, Scoob." "Heck, yeah! It's great to see everybody!" Rainbow said excitedly. "Darn-tootin', Dash. I've been so busy helping ma folks down at the farm, I've barely had time to prepare for college classes," said Applejack. "Had to have Ma get me signed up over at Coolsville University fer that." "Honestly, it's just absolutely fabulous to see everyone back in one place, again," said Rarity while doing her mascara with her compact mirror. "No doubt about that. Especially you, Scooby-Doo," said Fluttershy, giving Scooby a hug. "Aw. Rank you, Ruttershy," said Scooby. He then licked her face, causing her to giggle in delight.
"Speaking of old times, look what I have for you, Scooby. Scooby Snacks," said Velma, pulling out an orange box labeled Scooby Snax. Hearing those words made both Scooby and Shaggy run up to their friend. Not only that, but it also made Sunset laugh. She loved it whenever Shaggy acted like a dog just to get his hands on some Scooby Snacks, Scooby's favorite dog treat. "Go long, guys!" Velma shouted, tossing a handful of treats. Shaggy tried to catch them, but Scooby beat him to the treats, as usual. "I've been saving these Scooby Snacks for a long time," she continued as Scooby ate his fill. He then stuck out his tongue in disgust. The Scooby Snacks didn't taste as good as they used to. In fact, they were completely stale. "Don't worry, guys, we're going to New Orleans for our first segment, Haunts of Louisiana," said Fred. "And New Orleans has some of the best food in the world," Daphne added. Hearing that made Pinkie stick her tongue out. She loved food just as much as Shaggy and Scooby. Her favorite kind, though, was sweets, like ice cream. "And the best ghosts," said Velma. "I hope," groaned Daphne, who was getting sick and tired of all of the fake ghosts that the gang had come across in their high school years. "Well, let's get going." "Hold it. There's just one more thing," said Fred. He tore off the coast-to-coast banner and revealed that the van he used to carry Daphne's equipment was actually a new Mystery Machine in disguise. "IT'S THE MYSTERY MACHINE!" shrieked Pinkie. "Freddy, you sly old fox," chuckled Rainbow. "Perfect! Mystery, Inc. is back in business and with its newest members!" said Velma. "You mean us?!" squealed Twilight. "Exactly," Velma replied. "Woohoo! We're going on our first mystery together!" Pinkie exclaimed excitedly. Everyone hi-fived each other and got in the van. They were off to New Orleans to film Daphne's new show, Haunted America and hopefully find a real monster or ghost. Little did they know that they would soon find them under circumstances they never would expect in their entire lifetimes.
