So, you're probably thinking, why? The answer is why not.

Okay, serious explanation. One thing I hope they explore in the future of the show is Lucifer's time in Heaven and his relationship with the other angels. I've seen fics where he and Sera are siblings, fics where he and Sera are exes, and fics where Lucifer and Emily are father and daughter, and wanted to throw my hat into the ring. Originally Lucifer and Sera being related was supposed to be a twist for a separate (much longer) fanfic, but that is taking a while, so to take a break from it I decided to take one of the ideas I felt stood best on its own and spin it off into its own short fic (like 10 or so chapters at most). Do I think Lucifer and Sera are father and daughter in canon? No. Do I want them to be? No, some ideas just work better in fanfiction. Like this one, so enjoy!

Lucifer had never been more terrified in his life. For over 200 years he has had only one goal in life, to protect his daughter, and in those two centuries, there was only one force he was truly afraid might harm her, Heaven. So naturally that being exactly where his daughter was right now terrified him.

He told her he supported her, and he did! He truly believed in Charlie's passion, but he had no idea how Heaven would react to that passion. A lot can change in ten thousand years, but a lot can stay the same too, especially people.

Most of Heaven wouldn't dare lay a finger on Charlie. Michael was too much of a stickler for the rules to attack a guest, Adam didn't have the spine to go against that order, and if anything Gabriel would become best friends with her.

There was truly only one person he was afraid of Charlie meeting, so of course, she was the one person Charlie would definitely be meeting. If she wanted the Exterminations to end, she would have to go through the angel who started them, the one angel he had no idea if she had changed or not, nor any idea if that would be a good thing.

'I know you can't hear me, and if you could you'd shut me up immediately, but please. I'm the one who betrayed you, not Charlie. Just leave your sister alone, I beg of you.'

Lucifer couldn't believe he was praying. He wished he could go back to simpler times when he was confident his daughter could truly depend on him.

It was a beautiful day in Heaven, the sun was shining, and birds were singing. Not surprising, since Heaven was always beautiful, as it was a paradise, a reward for the creator's loyal followers.

In a secluded room within a magnificent golden palace, three beings stood over a crib, each possessing three pairs of wings, and towering in height. All but the middle one that is, who was much shorter than the other, his wings and cheeks red, and a halo encircling his top hat.

Lucifer smiled at the newborn seraph in the crib. The baby made a motion with her beak in response.

"I think she's trying to smile," his sister Gabriel said from beside him. She was nearly twice his height, and with long black hair, and her wings and cheeks were purple instead of red. "you know, the beak kind of makes it cute, maybe she could just stay in this form forever."

"No, she will need a more presentable form as well, like we have" his brother Michael replied. He looked nearly identical to Lucifer, save for the fact that his cheeks and wings were dark blue, and he was a head taller than Gabriel. "We should begin preparations to ease her into her role to serve heaven."

Lucifer frowned at his elder brother's words "Mike, she's not even a week old yet, let her live a little first."

"It is never too early to begin teaching, but Father made you this one's caretaker, so I suppose it is your call, even if it is the wrong one" Michael responded with a snide tone.

Gabriel gave Michael a little glare "Yeah, so why don't you spend some time with the little one while Michael and I discuss some plans." She said as she grabbed Michael and dragged him out of the room, despite his protests.

Lucifer wasn't an idiot, Gabriel sucked at hiding her emotions, and Michael didn't even bother. He looked towards the cradle and materialized a pacifier for the baby.

"Wait right here, Daddy's got to check something." With that, he used his magic to transform himself into a fly and follow Gabriel and Michael.

He finally found their voices Coming from inside a broom closet and landed on top of the door frame to listen in.

"What is wrong with you?"

"I did nothing but state objective facts"

"You think I haven't noticed that tone in your voice? Ever since the baby was born you've been ruder than you normally are!"

"I simply think there were better options for caretakers than Lucifer. The last thing any child needs is to be under the care of someone so unprofessional and lacking in responsibility"

"Come on, at least give him a chance to prove himself."

"I have, multiple times during creation, and every time he has shown himself to be childish and immature. You know it too, since if I remember correctly you voted against letting him contribute to the Eden project."

"I… just try and be less cruel to his face"

Lucifer flew away. His siblings underestimating him was nothing new, but he didn't think they thought so little of him they believed he wouldn't take this seriously.

As he reentered the room and returned to humanoid form, he stood over the crib.

"Little one. I promise, that for the rest of my eternal life, I will do anything and everything I can to protect you, more than anything"

Lucifer may not have always taken his duties seriously, but he knew as those words left his mouth, he would live by them. He would prove his siblings wrong.

"Hey Luci, sorry for that. You know an angel's work is never done" the deceptively sweet voice of Gabriel said as she and Michael returned.

"Well glad you've made it back," Lucifer said, putting on a fake smile. "Me and the little one have just been doing some cool bonding exercises, like standing over a crib. Very exciting".

Michael let out a small chuckle before regaining his composure. "Speaking of, we cannot simply keep referring to this one as "little one", do you need help deciding on a name brother?"

"No, I have a good one picked out."

Sera watched as Charlie and Emily ate ice cream together. The girl acted like she had never seen the stuff before, but that wasn't surprising, considering where she was from. From the clean streets to the food being edible, everything was new for the princess, who nearly fainted upon hearing they had a petting zoo with animals that would hug her back.

Sera didn't know what she was expecting his daughter to be like, but it was not this. She was so cheerful, so happy, despite growing up in a place meant to be her parents' prison. Charlie was just like him, just like she used to be.

Sera wanted to talk to her, to ask her how he was doing. Charlie did not seem to have any idea who Sera was, meaning their father never told her about her. Sera had no idea if that meant he hated her, or if he had forgiven her.

Sera hoped it was the former. It was selfish, unbecoming of an angel, but Sera hoped he was miserable. She hoped he thought about her, just as much as she thought about him. He hoped he hated her for betraying him, just as much as she hated herself for it.

She wished she could go back to simpler times, back when thoughts like that would have never had reason to wish those thoughts upon anyone, much less her father.

"SERA!"

The young seraphim snapped back to attention. Her dress had red accents, her curly hair was short, and her halo resembled a tiara. She was also noticeably taller than the other angel in the room, who only went up to her shoulder

They were in Lucifer's study, the place just as messy as it always was, books lying open on the ground without care for organization. Lucifer was in front of a chalkboard with a drawing of a duck and various instructions written around it. But before she could read it he flipped the chalkboard around and glared at her with a frustrated expression

"Can you repeat what I just said?"

"Uh, you were talking about how cool ducks are? Which I agree with, they are awesome. Whoever made them is clearly cool and handsome and deserves to be on the Eden project" Sera answered with a nervous smile.

"Flattery? That's the best you could do." Lucifer pinched his brow "We're supposed to be learning about how to harness your abilities Sera"

"I mean, it's not like I don't already know all of that," Sera replied. She wasn't a child and was tired of Lucifer treating her like one.

"Really? Alright, make some fireworks" Lucifer commanded.

Sera sighed and held out her hand as yellow sparks burst out of it.

Lucifer was not impressed. "Alright not bad, but can you-"

Lucifer was cut off as Sera motioned with her hands, and the sparks turned to flames. Sera cupped the fire in her hands, covered it, and then tossed it into the air where it took the form of a six-winged swan.

"Woah" Lucifer Looked at the bird with an astonished look on his face, one Sera could not be happier to see. "Alright, fine. You're not half bad."

"Well I couldn't have done it without my great teacher, you're very thorough. Maybe a bit too thorough. For example, you didn't need to be so detailed when describing how ducks reproduce" Sera said as she stood next to Lucifer and admired the fiery fowl with him, hoping he wouldn't notice the mistake she made.

"Trying to change the subject, you're ashamed of something." Lucifer grinned. "Let me guess, it wasn't supposed to be a swan."

She should really be more subtle next time. Luckily Lucifer taught her everything he knew, so she knew she could throw him off her trail "Are you kidding, literally half the things you made during lessons were waterfowl. I think making those come more naturally to me than breathing"

"Fair enough, and the extra two wings?"

"It's- called artistic license, it symbolizes our grace as seraphim, and how all those created by us reflect that perfection," Sera said. It was a rather eloquent lie, and it would have fooled most people. But Lucifer got a smug look on his face, and she knew he noticed her hesitation.

"So it was the wings then"

"Was it that obvious?" Sera smiled with an embarrassed look. Lucifer just laughed.

"Oh no, it was good. I could see Gabriel or Michael eating that bullshit up and commending you for your creative vision. But unfortunately for you, I am a master of getting them to believe my half-assed attempts to cover my tracks, and so I can spot a lie from a mile away." Lucifer bragged.

Sera felt embarrassed, but noticed Lucifer putting his hand on her shoulder.

"I think it looks beautiful this way." he said reassuringly.

Sera returned the smile and watched with him as the six-winged bird flew around until its flame finally went out.
