So you're here. Good. I've been itching to get to this project for the longest time. This new project of mine is starting at a huge milestone from my life in high school to my college life. I hope I can make this a good project, and I hope you can be with me all this way. Enjoy.
Season 01, Episode 01: Once Upon a Time -(Season 1 Premiere)
A chilling autumn breeze blew across the cityscape of Seattle, with a few leaves detaching from their host tree in a random park. Said leaves began to dance around the towering skyscrapers until eventually floating downwards when entering Seattle's Japantown. As the leaves nestled themselves on the tiled roof of a traditional-style building, a young woman was speaking to a crowd of children.
"And that wraps up today's tour of the Tsubaki Grand Shrine, any questions?" Said young woman was a youthful girl of twenty-one years of age, half-Japanese and half-European descent. Her Japanese ancestry manifested in most of her appearance, with long black hair that stopped a third of the way down her back. Her fair skin was pristine and well-kept, though freckles dotted her nose and cheeks, right below her crimson red eyes. Her hair was adorned with a red and white ornate ribbon that rested on her head, a pair of matching hair tubes on her sidelocks, which stopped just above her D-cup breasts. Her attire consisted of a white oriental shirt and a red hakama legwear, a pair of red and white tennis shoes, and a yellow scarf that was wrapped around her neck.
The woman looked at the tourists before noticing that someone was raising a hand at her. "Yes, you in the back."
"Miss Reimu! Miss Reimu!" She looked to see a young boy of Irish descent, having his hair in a bowl cut and obscurely large glasses. He had a lisp in his voice, braces, and was no older than twelve. Reimu couldn't tell what clothes he was wearing, but she could see the black sleeve of his jacket. "Why does your friend have green hair?"
Reimu's face turned towards confusion. "I'm not sure… My coworker says her hair is all natural. Apparently, it's quite common in Japan for whatever weird reason."
"Why is it common in Japan?" the same boy asked again.
"Don't know. When I was your age, my hair was a royal purple color. It's weird to know that your hair can change its color when you age." Reimu mentioned. "Now, aside from that, any other questions?" Everyone in the crowd was as silent as a rock. "Okay… now, thanks for having me as your guide. The gift shop is just around the corner."
Once all the people went their merry way, Reimu's smile disappeared, and another person walked up towards her, one who was the same age she was. Like Reimu, she had fair skin, but she had long, green hair which was tied up into a low ponytail, save for her sidelocks, an ahoge, and some bangs that hung down her front. She appeared to be slightly chubby, and deep blue eyes looked at her in worry. She wore a similar white shirt to Reimu, but the red accents were traded in for blue ones, and instead of a hakama, she was wearing a blue skirt. She had a frog hair pin stuck onto her hair while one of her sidelocks had a rubber snake hair ornament wrapped around it.
The girl walked towards Reimu and spoke. "You're still worried about that Rick character, aren't you, Reimu?"
Reimu nodded. "Sure am, Sanae. Since I moved into my aunt's residence, my life has been full of twists and turns and more where that came from. First, I had to deal with the dysfunctional nature of my family, and a few months ago, my grandfather moved in. I haven't seen him since I was young, and needless to say, regardless of what people would think otherwise, having a mad scientist for a grandfather is, as they say, an absolute pain in the ass."
"I remember when you first told me about him." Sanae mentioned. "You seemed rather excited at the time."
"Yeah, since… you know what happened seventeen years ago, he left the family, and it hasn't really been united until we moved here after graduating high school." Reimu mentioned. "And now, he's returned. Well, 'now' as in a few months ago." As Reimu and Sanae were talking, they were walking towards another area of the shrine's grounds. "I've been trying to juggle him, raising Morty and Summer, AND my job in one. It can be rather exhausting, y'know?"
"Even after several months with him, I still cannot believe it." Sanae replied.
"Neither can I." Reimu replied. "In fact, a few nights ago, he came into my room in the Smith Residence, all drunk and completely loaded. It was a rather bizarre experience. Since we still have time, do you want me to tell you the story behind this little adventure of mine?"
"Well, it would be an interesting tale." Sanae replied.
"Good. I've been itching to get this off my system." Reimu said. She flashed back to the beginning, to where it all started, remembering that fateful night.
TWO NIGHTS PRIOR…
Reimu was currently wearing some red pajamas and white socks as she calmly slept in her bedroom. Her hair was grown down to her back, and she had recently decided to add a few ribbons in them, specifically a bow and a pair of hair tubes, both in red and white and both crafted in Japan. Her shelves were aligned with various books and pictures of her past experiences. Above that was another shelf that had several old robotic models lined up, clearly dormant and out of use. Her room itself wasn't that big, but it wasn't too small and too cramped either. She slept on a Queen size bed with a wooden frame and her trademark red and white color scheme, a bookshelf that contained several things she could read, and a desk with a powerful PC computer on it, the desk itself being accompanied by a rocking chair and a lamp. On the ceiling, a large ceiling fan sat, cooling the air around a content and sleeping Reimu.
Unfortunately for the poor girl, she was about to get a rude awakening. "Morty... come on, wake up, man, Morty!" The drunken voice of Rick echoed through the room as Reimu's smile turned into a scowl. A blackout drunk Rick entered her room and attempted to turn on the light. "God fucking dammit, where's the fucking switch, Morty!?" He turned it on, and Reimu got up from her bed as Rick nearly poured alcohol onto it. "Wait a minute, wrong bed, sorry Summer, sorry..."
Reimu looked in disgust, yet let out a sigh of relief as she noticed it did not go onto her bed. The last time it happened, it was stained for several days and she had to change the sheets twice. She immediately jumped out of the bed and scowled. Soon enough, she noticed the old man with spiky blue hair drag a frightened young boy with brown hair and nothing but underwear on.
"Reimu, please help me!" a distressed Morty begged.
Rick stopped for a moment and looked at his granddaughter. "Oh, R-*urp*-Reimu, no time, long see. *urp* M-Morty and I are gonna go, just be right back… Come on real quick, Morty."
Yup, that was good ol' Drunk Rick, alright. Spiky blue hair with a unibrow, the white labcoat over his sweater and khakis, the pungent scent of alcohol and depression whenever he was drunk to the point where he can't even think straight. Oh how she hated it while he was drunk. She hated leaving her family behind, but a drunk Rick was even more dangerous than his sober counterpart. She knew she had to do something about it.
So, she decided to follow the drunken scientist. Past the hallway, through the kitchen, and they soon found themselves in the garage where, to both of their surprises, a saucer-shaped vehicle in the middle of the garage. Fortunately, Morty's foot had finally been allowed to go back on the ground again. "I cannot believe it…" Reimu said. Ever since Rick had moved into their lives, he set up shop in the garage, and he was looking at her.
"Woah, woah, R-*urp*-r-*urp*-Reimu? What the hell are you d-*urp*-oing here? Whatever, it doesn't matterer right about n-now… Time is fleeting, hurry, c-come on, hurry now." He grabbed them both by their ears, ignoring their sense of shock as they were shoved into the back of the vehicle, to which he activated.
It was all so sudden, and she felt a slight sense of fear and regret, thinking that it would blow up, but the vehicle lifted up into the air, it was like magic! Despite the slight bumps on the way, it was fully functional. Already, she could see the city down below, and even downtown with its famous Space Needle in the distance. At this point, Rick's drunken rants turned on again. "What… what do you think of this flying vehicle, kids…" he wheezed, spilling some of the alcohol from his bottle. "I built it out of stuff I found in the garage."
Reimu looked on, and a smile formed on her face. Despite knowing that it was dangerous, she couldn't help but to feel amazed. "Wow! To think you built it out of some random junk that just lay about for who knows why... It's incredible, I can't believe that this is happening!" She nearly squealed in joy as she looked on at the surroundings. "I've only been this high on an airplane, but this is something else entirely!"
She looked towards her cousin, who was honestly pretty depressed. "Yeah, that's great, Reimu. I'm glad you love the whole thing…" he said. "Is it really the surprise though?"
"M-Morty… Reimu... kids… I had to… I had to do it. I had- I had to- I had to make a bomb."
"What!? A bomb?" Morty asked.
"What the heck!?" Reimu asked, all the joy and love was instantaneously replaced with shock and disgust. "Don't tell me you pooped your pants on the way h-"
"It's not that kind of bomb, dumbasses!" Rick interrupted before taking a sip from his alcohol. "Sorry… Grampa's needing this little… I had to create a… n-neutrino bomb. I'm gonna drop it on the world and make a whole new start."
"What!?" Morty screamed in fear.
"Oh no no no no no!" Reimu immediately knew that the drunken Rick was dead serious. She grew angry and looked at the drunken Rick dead in the eyes. "You are NOT going to kill everyone, and you are especially NOT going to kill your own family!"
"Don't worry, Reimu... it's not gonna..." Rick paused for a moment and let out a huge burp from all the alcohol he burped out. "We're gonna drop it down there just get a whole fresh start, guys, it…" Rick paused for a moment to take a drink from his bottle before nearly spilling it on Reimu's shirt if it weren't for her quick reaction. "C-come on, come on, take it… take it easy… take a new start… Right now, you two need to do the thing, you two get to be… Adam and Eve."
"WHAT!?"
After that last bit of dialogue, they both exchanged uneasy glances. "What? No, no, no! I-I've had dreams of having girls and boobies beside me, but this is crazy!"
Reimu looked back at Rick. "Grampa, I know that you're not in the right head, but there's no way that inbreeding can save the human race during a catastrophe! And besides, it's just plain ridiculous! Plus, you're talking about... that stuff. It's wrong and you know it!"
Rick looked at them. "Y-you're… that's the… you're right, R-Reimu. That will endanger humankind. I have to pick some handsome guy up for you. I was never going to do it, okay! The… the inbred stuff, you know? Pedophilia... never works out."
Reimu raised an eyebrow. "You really need some help, huh?"
"N-no… Morty gets Jessica…" he said.
Morty's eyes widened. "Wha, whaa?"
"A couple later… that, that's the surprise, kids… surprise, surprise…" After a few of Rick's uneasy burps, he pressed a button on the main control panel, causing a weird red light to flash. Reimu looked at Morty with a worried glance, and he did the same as a robotic voice rang out.
ARMING NEUTRINO BOMB...
At those words, Morty immediately sprung up and shoved his leg into Rick. "That's it… that's it, Rick. I'm taking the wheel right now!"
Reimu looked as the two began to fight over the wheel. She pulled herself into fetal position, hoping that the night-inevitable disaster would not strike. As far as she knew, fighting with a drunk driver was bound to have a car crash sooner than later, and with a neutrino bomb, it would spell absolute disaster. However, what happened was the opposite of what she expected. "Alright. I'll- I'll land. I'll land. I'll land. I'll land the thing. I'll land the thing. Big tough guy all of a sudden." As if by a miracle, he agreed to land.
Again, as if by a miracle, they landed without a scratch, yet with Rick falling down, being cushioned by several empty bottles with the occasional drop of alcohol, she wondered how he was still alive. "We'll park it right here, kids. Right here on the side of the ree… road here…"
Reimu took a look at their surroundings, noticing the cactus, mesas, and miles of sand. "I think you went a teensy bit off on the road, Grampa." she said, looking at the obvious desert in the background.
Rick's drunken slurs weren't over, it seemed. "Y-you know what, this was all a test, Morty! Just an elaborate test I made t-to make you more assertive."
"It was?" Morty asked, clearly not getting it. Reimu, on the other hand, only sighed. Rick's blackout drunk fits were almost always destructive, and nobody could think straight when drunk, not even her grandfather.
"Sure? Why not, kids? I don't, I don't know, kids. Y-you know what-" Before Rick could talk even more, he instantly fell fast asleep on a mountain of bottles and liquor, letting out a loud snore as he did so.
NEUTRINO BOMB ARMED,
"Oh, put a sock in it, you glorified toaster!" an angered Reimu yelled. The twenty-one year old girl reared her fist out and punched the part of the vehicle she supposed was the neutrino bomb, expecting nothing to come out at all. Fortunately, the bomb released a few harmless sparks of electricity and short-circuted, effectively fizzling out. Seeing that the bomb situation was solved, Reimu couldn't help but let out a sigh of relief and a smile before falling asleep on the spot, leaving a confused Morty to quietly ponder the situation at hand.
"...and I was asleep for a while, but I woke up in my bed. Perhaps Grampa Rick (once sober) put me and Morty in our beds as if nothing happened? I don't really know..." Reimu mentioned, still looking at the audience. By then, the two had decided to sit on a bench and talk there. Sanae had two drinks in her hands from the vending machine. "After that, we had breakfast. I was still pretty overwhelmed with everything that happened last night, so I was a little drowsy. Still, I was in a much better position to what poor old Morty had to suffer from. I assume he was awake this whole time, thinking that the bomb might reactivate."
"That poor guy. It had to be a shame that he had to suffer through all of that." Sanae answered.
"Yeah. He was half-asleep, and the worst part of it was, none of the family members seemed to care about his sleep schedule as much as the school part. Granted, I may be sounding a bit hypocritical, but I hope I can jump that hurdle sooner than later." Reimu answered, turning her head towards Sanae. "At the time, I was starting to have enough. Rick always dragged poor Morty on his adventures since he came to the Smith Residence, and for what? Lower grades and a lack of sleep? So, I decided to go towards his and Summer's school to investigate. After two months, I had enough. So, I decided to go to Morty's school and make sure he's alright. I tend to pick him and Summer up most of the time. Their parents never seem to care about anyone but themselves and their silly arguments."
Sanae thought back to the message and pulled out her phone. She searched for the specific text message that Reimu sent to her and the shrine.
ONE DAY PRIOR… 9:30 AM
Reimu had finished driving towards the direction of Henry Herpson High School in her red Honda van. She now wore her casual outfit, which consisted of a red jacket over a white button-up shirt with a yellow ascot, a pair of blue jeans, some white socks, and a pair of red and white sneakers. Once she stopped there, she took her time to take out her phone and text Sanae and the Shrine, each of them getting the same text.
Apologies if I'm not able to make it. I've got family issues that I need to resolve, specifically regarding my grandfather and my cousin. Hopefully, I'll be able to return tomorrow. With love, Reimu Sanchez.
Reimu took a deep breath upon completing her text message to the two accounts she was texting and proceeded to get out of the car and look at the school. "Welp, here goes nothing." Upon getting out of the car, she walked towards the high school her cousins were studying at. It may have seemed like a normal school at first glance, but with the times that Reimu had been there, she knew the truth. She had several visits to the place and she did not like Beth and Jerry's choice for places where their children would be educated.
From what she saw, Henry Herpson High School was home to some of the most persistent and notorious bullies that ever lived on Earth, and it didn't help that a lot of the staff and even some of the students were incompotent with the situation and/or focusing on anything OTHER than what needs to be done. Even Summer fits this protocol, despite Reimu's attempts to drag her out of it. Speaking of Summer, Reimu saw her talking to a few of her friends, not seeming to notice that she was walking by. At best, it was in between school periods. At worst, Summer was neglecting her schoolwork again. She arrived rather recently, so she still has to dissect the mentalities of her family, and that included her primary concern, the mentality of Rick Sanchez.
She would rather talk to Gene and get this over with and make sure Rick doesn't get Morty again, but if she finds Rick and figures out why he drags Morty onto adventures by getting in one herself, then she would also consider that an acceptable offer. She just hoped that Morty's lack of sleep was not affecting his schoolwork. Before she went in, she checked Beth's messages to see if she had responded since. So far, no such luck. 'Typical, typical. Hopefully my message reaches her before Jerry goes berserk.' No matter, she had other things to deal with at the moment. She raised her fist and knocked on the door three times before awaiting a response.
She did get a response, as a muffled "Come in!" was heard from the other side of the door. Reimu smiled, knowing that at least someone is willing to respond, and opened the door to arrive inside.
"So you talked with the school principal?" Sanae asked.
"Yeah. I decided to have a little talk with Gene." Reimu said. "People usually call him by his last name, but I don't do that because of how erotic it sounds, which makes him feel insecure about it. Anyways, I was talking to him about what I saw from Rick and that I was planning on fixing Morty's schedule up, among other things that were wrong with the school he was in charge of."
"Seriously, that one part of Seattle your family lines in is full of idiots. It's utter despair that the mayors of Seattle weren't able to clean it up." Sanae replied.
"And that idiocy and obliviousness led to more corrupt people being able to do whatever they want." Reimu replied with a somber look on her face. "And that led to when I encountered Morty again, and when I ran into another bad apple."
ONE DAY AGO… 9:50 AM
Meanwhile, back at Henry Herpson High School, Reimu had just gotten off from her talk with Principal Vagina and she was walking across the halls of the high school. By now, she found Morty, and unfortunately, he was being bullied. "'Morning'? What was what is that supposed to mean? You making fun of me? Are you trying to say my family's poor?"
"Put. The. Knife. Down." Reimu gazed towards the bully, Frank Palikay, who merely froze and looked towards her.
Frank merely snorted and pointed the knife towards her. "Really? You think that just because you're his guardian or some other adult means I'm scared." He swung his knife towards Reimu, who dodged the swing with a frightened expression on her face. "I'm gonna cut you like that little morsel, 'cause my family's rich!"
Reimu got into a defensive position, but before Frank could attack, the black-haired, black-jacketed buffoon was frozen in place. Reimu immediately got out of her position as she saw that Rick had a freeze ray in his hand. "What the? Why are you here, Reimu?"
Reimu put a hand to her hip and spoke. "Isn't it obvious? This is about you, and I thought that I would hang around Morty for a bit until you show up on the scene."
"Aw geez, what did you do to Frank?" a scared Morty asked.
"It's pretty obvious, Morty. I froze him." Rick explained. He then spotted Reimu, her arms crossed and a stern expression plastered onto her face as she tapped one foot on the floor. "What the hell are you here for?'
"Isn't it obvious? You're the reason I'm here. How could you just… come here and take Morty with you?" Reimu asked with an equally stern tone in her voice. "What do you think you're getting my cousin into?"
"Yeah yeah, I get it, I get it." Seemingly undettered, Rick turned over towards Morty and spoke with a seemingly calm expression on his face. "Listen to me, Morty. I got an errand to run in a whole different dimension. I need an extra pair of hands, Morty."
Before the duo could walk away, Reimu stepped in and spoke. "Okay, wait just a minute! I do not know why I haven't done this before, but I know I should be doing it now, if anything!" Reimu procceded to cross her arms as her steel gaze met Rick's eyes. "If you're going to drag Morty along, I'm coming with you... mainly to get some answers for why you're going on adventures with Morty in the first place."
Rick raised an eyebrow at that. He sighed. "Fine, I guess I could go for one more person. If you want to deal with my bullshit, and if you want answers, follow me."
He guided Morty outside, leaving a confused Reimu to ask Rick a question. "Why are we exiting the school instead of immediately using your portal gun?"
"Because it's convinent, now come on! Haste makes waste!" Rick ranted, causing Reimu to roll her eyes at him as the newly formed trio proceeded to exit the school. As they did, Reimu looked back to see a familiar redheaded teenager oogle at Frank.
'Summer, are you seriously ogling the guy who nearly attacked me and Morty with a knife?' Reimu thought. She saw that Summer Smith was oblivious towards Frank being frozen, and the moment she touched him, he toppled over, shattering into a million pieces, causing Summer and a few other girls to start crying. 'I was going to tell his parents about what he did, but then again, I don't think they would've been of any help either.'
She carries no sympathy for those who would dare hurt her family like that. Picking on children is one thing, but the bullies she knew had standards. On top of that, a large number of the students were pretty much oblivious to the situation, including Summer, who apparently had a crush on him. Reimu thought that this was pretty messed up, and either Summer was oblivious like all the others at best or just willfully ignored it because she lacks love for her little brother at worst. "After this is all over, could I talk to Summer for a bit?"
Rick nonchalantly shrugged. "Eh, whatever."
"Seriously, I knew Summer was self-absorbed and all, but I never thought she would…" Reimu paused. "I really need to work on not giving off too much personal information, don't I?"
Sanae frowned. "It's okay, Reimu. But still, if Summer was flirting with the guy who threatened Morty and attempted to cut you with a knife, then that is just… your cousins' family is outright dysfunctional."
Reimu nodded in agreement. "She and several other members of Frank's little pseudo-harem even set up this elaborate funeral for the psycho, complete with an arbitrary and everything else! They were even crying on their knees as if they lost their true love or a family member or something like that!"
Sanae raised an eyebrow in confusion. "How exactly do you know that?"
Reimu facepalmed. "Oh, after our little adventure, I decided to talk with Gene yet again to see if Summer had gotten over the bully's death. Turns out she and several other girls are still mourning his death even now." Reimu proceeded to take another sip of her drink. "Well, that aside, I suppose I should get onto the cool part, the reason I was wanting to tell this story in the first place. I actually visited an alternate universe."
Sanae looked on starry-eyed as Reimu rolled her own eyes and chuckled, ready to continue her own story.
ONE DAY AGO… 10:00 AM
As they walked towards the back of the school, Reimu noticed that Morty didn't have any jacket with him and neither did Rick. Well, unless you count his labcoat as one. "You won't need your jacket where we're going. Unless you're wearing that thing for style or some shit, bring them to me."
"Are you seriously giving your jacket to Rick? I'm cold." Morty said.
Reimu merely shook her head as Rick spoke. "Did you not hear anything I said? Come on, your whining won't get us anywhere faster." He quickly shot a portal to the wall, and he grabbed Morty and proceeded to walk in it.
"Welp, it's now or never." Reimu declared. She too stepped through the portal. She did not want Morty to suffer from Rick's adventures, so perhaps she could talk to Rick about it. When she stepped through the portal, she saw Rick and Morty, but what she saw on the other side only shocked her, not so her grandfather and cousin, but the world around them. "Oh. My. God." Not only was the air warm enough that her current attire would be great for the weather, but the whole world had an alien atmosphere that she has never experienced in her entire life, much less read from a book. "This isn't the typical green man's moon, huh gang?"
"What are you talking about Reimu?" a confused and worried Morty asked.
"This place... it's beautiful." Reimu replied. It was the craziest thing she saw so far. A vast yellow sky was above their heads, and an alien landscape consisting of blue grasslands, whimsical, tree-like foliage, and circular ponds that dotted the landscape. In the background, she could see a city in the distance, as well as two planets that were near the one she was on. Truly, it was amazing.
"Oh, man, Rick. What is this place?" Morty said. On the other hand, looked anxious and stressed out as usual. Can't she blame him? Even before Rick showed up and took him in on adventures, he was more or less the same.
"It's Dimension 35-C." Rick explained.
"Wow! It's so cool!" Reimu replied, looking at her surroundings. "My objective is still in mind, but I cannot help but to marvel at this place... I never saw anything like it before. Didn't I tell you that it's beautiful as well!?"
Rick sighed. "Alright, I could give you a pass since this is your first time in other realms. Anyway, this version of Earth has the perfect climate for a-a-a special type of tree, called a 'Mega Tree', and there's fruits in those trees, and has seeds in those fruits. I'm talking about the 'Mega Seeds' Th-They're incredibly powerful, and I need them for my research." As they were walking, Reimu could see a sea of crystals nearby, and looked in excitement, though she had a slight sense of caution as well.
"The name needs work, but seriously, this is wonderful!"
"Oh, man, you two. I'm looking around this place, and I'm starting to work up some anxiety. R-R-Reimu, shouldn't you be feeling a bit anxious?" Morty said.
Reimu merely shook her head. "I know you want to return to your normal school life, but don't you think you're being a little melodramatic about this?"
"Tell that to the time where Rick attempted to make us fuck each other!" Morty snapped.
Reimu winced. "Sheesh. What's gotten into you?"
Soon enough, Rick knelt right beside the two, more so towards Morty. "Alright, alright, I get it. Listen to me, kids, especially you, Morty. I know that new situations can be intimidating. You're looking around, and it's all scary and different, but, you know, m-meeting them head on, charging right into them like a bull that's how we grow as people." He then looked directly at his grandson, Morty, staring directly into his eyes. "I-I mean, I'm no stranger to scary situations. I deal with them all the time. Now, if you just stick with me, Morty, we're gonna be…"
Before he could say anything more, they looked behind to see a gigantic, predatory insect-like alien with a multitude of eyes and a monstrous mouth chasing them. "HOLY CRAP, KIDS! RUN, GO, NOW!" At that knowledge, Reimu went with a full burst, with Morty not too far before. "I've never seen that thing before in my life. I don't even know what the hell it is! We gotta get out of here, kids! WE'RE GONNA DIE!"
"That's gotta be scary, Reimu!" a worried Sanae relayed.
"It is pretty scary. It left me with a boost of adrenaline and a Morty who nearly wet his pants. It is quite fortunate he didn't do so this time. It must've been that I was around, but he was still panicking." Reimu replied.
"Poor guy." Sanae stated.
"Yeah. I've been giving him therapy sessions with Doctor Wong to help with Rick's adventures and his dysfunctional home life." Reimu stated. "Don't ask for her specialty, it makes me wonder why she is even our therapist in the first place, though she does a pretty good job. Now, this next part of the adventure is a little weird."
"Weird… as in?" Sanae asked.
"Erotic. I'd prefer to go somewhere a little more secluded to talk about what is to come. If you'd want, I'd stop with the story and save it for later…" Reimu offered.
"No, it's fine. As an anime geek, I'm really fascinated." Sanae declined.
Reimu rolled her eyes and proceeded to tell more of the story. "So, it's been about an hour or so, but we managed to run away from the monster, once again finding ourselves in alien serenity…"
ONE DAY AGO… 11:15 AM
It took a little while, but they were finally able to escape the monster. Everyone was out of breath, and Reimu was resting near a rock, having regained her strength as she stood up and stretched. "That was not what I was expecting from a place like this. But hey, I'm glad we lived through that mess."
On the other side of things, Morty was not amused whatsoever. He was not only stuck with his alcoholic grandfather, but his cousin decided that she wanted to have some fun as well. As they walked across the alien world, Reimu's fascination went back, but this time, she was cautious and looked out in case any more aliens showed up. All the while, Rick was talking to Morty. "Oh, Morty, take a deep breath. Breathe that breathe that fresh air in, Morty. Y-you smell that? That's the smell of adventure, Morty. That's that's the smell of-of-of-of a whole different evolutionary timeline. I-I-I mean, look at your cousin, she likes it."
"All right, Rick, look how much longer is this gonna be? Shouldn't we be back at school by now?" an increasingly worried Morty complained.
"Honestly, why are you complaining?" Reimu asked. "I get that you panicked when that monster showed up and attempted to eat us, but you were going overboard after the first fifteen minutes. Besides, school really isn't as much of an issue for me. I've got homeschool if I have any issues like this."
"A-a-are you kidding me? Aren't you the slightest bit scared?"
At this point, she couldn't help but laugh. "Well, yes, I was. But here I am, and I'm not complaining about every little problem that goes around in the world just because I don't agree with my mad scientist of a grandfather."
Morty tried to object, but Rick spoke up. "You know, your cousin has a point, you should stop bitching around for no apparent reason, and just enjoy the adventure. I mean, look at all the crazy crap surrounding us. Look at that thing right there." Everyone turned to see a weird… thing. Reimu couldn't help but reel in disgust, looking at its grotesque physique as it did whatever it was doing. "What the hell is that thing? You think you're gonna see that kind of thing at school?" When Morty tried to close his eyes, Rick forcibly opened them so he would look at the alien. "Look at it just lumbering around. It defies all logic, that thing."
"Yeah, Rick, I get it. We're surrounded by monsters. That's kind of the reason why I want to leave."
Reimu merely shook her head and walked up towards Rick. "Hey, may I ask you a question?"
Rick said nothing at first, but then, he rolled his eyes and responded. "Alright, what the hell is it?"
Reimu looked towards Morty and back at Rick. "Why did you decide to abandon the family when I was a young girl? And why come back now, and after Morty, nonetheless?"
"I-I-I need him, you gotta have a good partner for a-adventures, Reimu." Rick stammered. "Y-you gotta find *urp* you gotta-"
"I dunno, but Morty doesn't seem like good adventure material." Reimu thought.
"What the hell do you mean?" Rick asked.
"I'm unsure. From what I saw and from your interactions with him, this probably wasn't the first time he's tried to whine himself out of it." Reimu interjected. "I'm not whining, and this is the first time I've ever been in a universe that was not my own. Gigantic predators aside, this place is kinda crazy, and in a good way, too." Soon enough, something caught her eye. "Are those… Mega Trees?"
"That's right, Reimu!" Rick praised.
"Eh, nothing much. Your reaction to the forest told me everything." Reimu answered with a simple shrug.
"The mega trees with the mega fruit on them and that's what I'm talking about, kids. That's where my seeds are. If we would have done what you wanted, I would have never have found them, because you're so in love with school." Rick ranted, pointing towards Morty at that last part.
"Alright, I get it. I wouldn't really say that I'm in love with school. It's just too easy for me." Reimu took a quick look down the cliff, and a thought came to her mind. "Quick question. How are we going to get down there?"
Rick handed out a pair of shoes. "Alright, take your shoes off and put these on. These *urp*, they-they're special grappling shoes that I invented. When you're wearing these things, these babies, you can basically just walk on any surface you want, kids. Up, down, below, turn around to the left. These things really bring it all together." He pulls out another two pairs. "I always keep some spares, just in case."
Reimu whistled, but then noticed that Morty was about to walk off. "Wait, we-" However, he didn't listen as he fell straight off the cliff, and broke several bones in his body. "-don't know how to… turn them… on…"
"You have to turn them on, Morty! The shoes have to be turned on!" Quickly pushing a button on the boots, Rick walked down the cliff, somehow sticking towards the surface with ease. Sighing, Reimu mimicked Rick's actions and turned on her shoes, walking down the cliff. She wasn't wanting to jump to see what happens, though.
Once she did go towards Morty, she and Rick inspected the damage. "What the... your legs are all twisted and mangled... several broken bones, knees, thighs, feet. What were you thinking? Just because you wear something doesn't mean you instantly have the effect." Reimu scolded. "Well, it might, but I wanted to know how they worked before having any ideas."
"I'm in a lot of pain, you guys!" Morty pleaded.
"Alright, we can see that." Reimu said. She looked at Rick. "Well, we need to help him somehow! I know that he got himself into this, but we can't just leave him there, and he certainly can't help us in this state!"
"Okay, hold on just a second, guys."
"Wait! No!" Reimu yelled as Rick grabbed a portal gun and ran off. She stared at the spot where the portal was for a few short seconds, no sound at all but Morty's yells and screams in pain. Before she could think about it further, another portal opened, and Rick came out with a syringe filled with a strange pink liquid. He ran up towards Morty, and injected the liquid into the boy, which repaired his broken bones with ease. "What in the hell?"
"I know, but this is good! It felt surprisingly… pleasant. That stuff just healed my broken legs instantly. I mean, I've never felt so good in my life. Thank you." Morty said, doing some hops on his legs.
Reimu looked at him. "Be sure not to hit it too hard, but don't worry. I'll be getting those fruit for you."
"Wow, thank you." Morty said.
As Reimu got up the tree, being sure to activate her boots before hand, Rick was busy explaining what that serum was and where he was. "Well, not that you asked, kids, but what just happened there is I went into a future dimension with such advanced medicine that they had broken-leg serum at every corner drugstore. The stuff was all over the place."
"Wow, that's pretty crazy, Rick." Morty said.
Meanwhile, from her spot on the trees, Reimu picked out the fattest, juiciest fruit she could find. "Yeah, I totally agree with what you said. A world like that has to have made some serious advancements."
"Yeah, but nothing's perfect, there was one problem! The dimension I visited was so advanced that *urp* they had also halted the aging process, and everyone there was young, and they had been forever. I was the only old person there, it was like I was some sort of, you know, celebrity, walking around. I-I was fascinating to them. There were a lot of attractive women there, kids, and they-they-they— they all wanted time with me. I had a lot of fun with a lot of young ladies, but I spent so much time there, my interdimensional portal device it's got no charge left, Morty. It's got no charge left."
As Reimu got off the tree, she and Morty had a look of shock on their faces. "WHAT!?"
Reimu looked towards Rick. "It's got no charge, but there seriously has to be SOMETHING! You're a genius, can't you just make some more portal fluid from scratch or something!?"
"Oh, I wish it was that simple, Reimu." Rick admitted. "However, there is a way. It's just… it's just gonna be a little bit of a hassle. We're gonna have to go through interdimensional customs, so Morty over here will have to do a solid for us."
"Wait, what?" Morty asked with a shocked look on his face.
"Yeah, you heard me, Morty." Rick said as he took the fruit from Reimu and opened it, revealing the large, foot-sized seeds in all their glory. "Because you were so whiny and fucked up, YOU will have to do the dirty work. When we get to customs, I'm gonna need you to take these seeds into the bathroom, and I'm gonna need you to put them way up inside your butthole, Morty."
"What the hell? In his BUTT!?" Reimu asked. "Are you serious!?"
"Yeah. Dead serious." Rick said. "And for very good reasons. I-I-I mean, I'd do them myself, but they'll fall right out of mine. I've done this too many times, a-a-and you two are *urp* so young. Besides, I picked Morty because of how whiny he was and that he kept bitching all the way! Plus, his broken legs were the reason my portal gun is out of charge! Besides, if a girl does it, i-i-it'll affect their ability to produce children. Y-you want to *urp* meet someone and have kids, don't you, Reimu?"
When both sets of eyes locked onto Reimu, she could only let out an angered sigh at this, but she swallowed her pride, knowing that it was the best and quickest way out so far.
"He basically had to do what various smugglers did to bring their illegal wares in to avoid searching." Reimu added with a sad expression on his face. "Apologies if I went towards that part." By now, the two had moved to a more secluded area in the park. They now had some pastries from the vending machine.
Sanae was shocked and even somewhat sickened, but she remained interested. "So, that world has an alien civilization in it? One with portal technology too? Talk about lucky."
"I'm quite surprised you decided to stick with me for so long." Reimu stated.
"Erotic stuff aside, this is really getting together. I love it so far!" Sanae replied. She looked up towards the sky with glee. "I wish I could go on crazy sci-fi adventures as well! I'm geeking out here!"
Reimu smiled once more. "You should weigh the probability, but I do appreciate your gusto and enthusiasm. It's a lot like Marisa's when she and I used to play together and go on field trips. And speaking of field trips, my unexpected field trip… if you can call it that… led me towards civilization at last! However, things weren't all too well…"
ONE DAY AGO… 12:30 AM
Meanwhile, our heroes have already made it to Intergalactic Customs facility. Well, the building that contained the vast network reminiscent of an airport, anyway. Already, Rick and Reimu were standing in a line, with the latter bearing a nervous look on her face. She saw an alien walk by, and it said something to her, but before she could say anything, she noticed Rick speak to her.
"Of all the things that has tried to kill me over the years I spent out in space, bureaucracy is one of the worst things, if not THE worst thing that I crossed paths with." Rick said. "Don't be decieved, there are things way scarier than bureaucracy. Despite that, however, the whole thing still finds ways to get on my nerves. I can't abide bureaucracy. I don't like being told where to go and what to do. I consider it a violation." At this point, Morty came out of the alien bathroom with his hands by his butt and a scared, painful expression plastered onto his face. "Did you get those seeds all the way up your ass?"
Morty nodded at this. "Yeah, Rick. Let's just get this over with, okay? I mean, these things are pointy. They hurt."
Reimu winced in pain, but Rick only smiled. "That means they're good ones. You're a good kid, Morty. Those mega seeds are super valuable to my work. You've been a huge help to me. I'm gonna be able to do a-*urp*-all kinds of things with them. It's gonna be great, kids. A-*urp*-all kinds of science."
At this point, they made it towards the checking area, where a large, humanoid bug with a green carapace and red compound eyes stood guard, holding a gun between its talons. Already, Reimu could feel herself shiver in fear and disgust at that thing. "Next." it, or he (it sounded like a he) said, allowing the alien before them to go through.
Before they can go, the guard saw Morty and quickly stopped him. "Except you, human larva. Over there."
At this point, Reimu immediately knew what was going to happen, yet she stayed silent, not wanting to face whatever punishment they have. "Why does he have to go over there?" Rick angrily asked.
"It's a new step in the mandatory checking process. Individuals that haven't matured to adults got to go through the new machine." the insectoid alien said.
"Uh oh…" Reimu whispered.
"What new-*urp* what new machine?" Rick asked with a slight tinge of fear, yet he crossed his arms together and masked it with a look of irritation.
"It's a new machine. It detects stuff all the way up your butt."
At this point, Rick knew that their cover was blown and grabbed their shirts. "Run, kids, run!"
Before the Gromflomite could catch them, Reimu instinctually punched him in the eye, knocking him unconscious as they passed through. "Get away from me, you gross bug!"
As they went through, the alarm system was triggered, and several Gromflomites began chasing them. She could feel her adrenaline kicking in as they ran through what looked like a cloning vat. She could see that Rick was pushing over one of the vats to slow them down, and let out a slight smile before going to the task at hand. They dodged the various obstacles in their way, such as food carts, random passengers, and whatever else was out there.
While they were running, Morty accidentally inhaled something that a random alien was presumably smoking through whatever machination it was. Soon enough, Morty coughed up a little green blob that sprouted legs and started running alongside them. Soon afterwards, it became humanoid and sprouted, arms, eyes, and a mouth as it started to let out a short yell and grow to Rick's height before growing old and suddenly dying. "Eep!" Reimu yelped.
"Don't think about it!" Rick demanded, pushing them away from the corpse.
At this point, the doorways were going into emergency lockdown. Looking at her feet, Reimu remembered that they still had the grappling shoes on. Casually turning them on, she began walking up the wall. "Come on!" she said, gesturing for them to go along.
"Wow! Good work! The student becomes the teacher!"
They ran onto the walls when Reimu noticed another particular feature. "They have wings!?" At this, she simply sighed as they ran across the pipe. She looked to see Rick jumping from his spot on the pipe and grabbing onto an object that presumably holds luggage. With a leap of faith, Reimu grabbed onto Rick's labcoat, while Morty followed en suite and grabbed his cousin's legs. They were like this for a while, but Rick found that he was losing his grip. The next thing that they knew, they landed on the remains of a now-dead alien before following Rick towards their destination.
"Goodness! We're cornered!" Reimu said.
"Actually, weren't not." Rick said, gesturing towards the portal. "I need to type in the coordinates to our home world, kids. Cover me!" At this point, he handed guns to Reimu and Morty, pointing towards the Gromflomites.
Reimu nodded, and with a sad, regretful expression. "I'm sorry." Upon her apology, Reimu pulled the trigger, shooting a Gromflomite square in the right leg, causing him to fall over as his comrade rushed to catch him in his arm.
"Glenn's bleeding to death! Someone call his wife and children!"
Meanwhile, Morty was hesitant and somewhat sad, and looked towards Rick. "Oh, man. I mean, you know, I-I don't want to shoot nobody." he pleaded, hoping Rick would listen.
"They're just robots, Morty! It's okay to shoot them! They're robots!" Rick yelled.
Morty looked towards the Gromflomites, and then back at Rick. "They're not robots, Rick! Look at them! I-I-I'm not gonna shoot them! They have wives and-"
"I-I'm well aware of that! It's a figure of speech, Morty. They're bureaucrats. I don't respect them." Rick said, furiously typing on the keyboard as Reimu continued shooting them off. "Just keep shooting, Reimu! You have no idea what prison is fucking like here!"
"Do I look like I want to know?" Reimu said back before shooting her gun, scoring another kill. "Hey, I'm actually pretty good at this…" she admitted before accidentally shooting a fleeing bystander who was dumb enough to run into the crossfire. "Okay, maybe not that good…"
Soon enough, the blue portal turned green, and Rick grabbed the two by their hands. "Come on, kids! We got to get the hell out of here!" With lightning-fast reflexes, he ran into the portal just as it closed behind them, landing right in the lunchroom and on one of the tables.
Reimu was the first to get up with a worn expression on her face. "Man, where are we?" She proceeded to look around as the other two got up. It was a good thing that she didn't get food all over her clothing, as it was also good for everyone else.
"Wow. Did you three just come into the cafeteria through a portal?" Reimu looked to see that the redheaded girl that she saw a while ago was staring at them.
Reimu nodded as she got off of the table. Fortunately, none of the lunches were crushed by their fall, so they didn't have to worry about laundry. "Yep. It's as clear as glass." she admitted.
"Uh, yeah. Well, you know, my-my Ferrari's in the shop." Morty chuckled, attempting to flirt with Jessica. Reimu rolled her eyes at that as he nervously laughed. "Just kidding."
"You're Morty, right?" Jessica asked.
"Yeah." Morty answered. Reimu rolled her eyes at the whole ordeal.
Before she could think of anything else, she heard someone clear his throat. All three turned to see Jerry, Beth, and Gene Vagina staring right back at them with an angered look in each of them, and in Gene's case, a slight sense of amazement towards Reimu. "Oh, look, honey. It's our son with Albert Ein-douche." Jerry said menacingly.
"What?" Beth asked.
"I'm an angry father, not an improviser." Jerry replied.
Rick responded with a sheepish look as he looked at Morty. "Oh, hi, Jerry. Oh, my goodness, Morty! What are you doing out of class? We talked about this. Your-your parents and I are very disappointed in-in this behavior…" Only angry glares and an annoyed and confused Reimu responded. "What? No takers?"
At this point, Reimu could only facepalm at her grandfather. "Nope. None taken." She looked over towards Gene, and while he gave a glare at Rick. Despite this, Reimu mistook him for glaring at her and faltered. "Look, Gene. If I had any problems with this, I-"
Gene's look softened as he looked towards Reimu. "You really don't have any problems, Reimu. Well, not that I know of, anyway."
Reimu sighed. "Alright. Gene, I saw someone threaten to cut my brother, black hair, black jacket, he even tried to attack me despite me being an adult. That guy was no mere bully, be sure to look out for people that attempt to harm or even murder their fellow students. On top of that, my cousin was practically worshipping him despite the guy's hostility towards Morty and I. I'm planning on giving her a very long talk after I sort out everything else."
Gene's eyes widened, and Reimu could see what he was thinking. "I-I'll be sure to put a note on that."
"Good." Reimu sternly replied. "I'll be back later, but first... I have to sort out some issues back at home. They were the reason I initially came to your high school again in the first place."
Principal Vagina nodded. "I'll allow it. Be sure to come back in the future."
"After that, there was my talk with Gene, and that was when I found out what happened with Summer." Reimu said. She smiled and crossed her arms, puffing her chest up with pride. "And just like that, I completed my first interdimensional adventure, and with flying colors, too!"
"Now that requires real bravery!" By now, Sanae had finished eating her Rice Krispie Treat and was wiping off the crumbs with her napkin while Reimu was halfway through her box of CupCakes. "So why were your aunt and uncle there when you said they didn't care about their kids?"
"I'm not really sure… maybe it's because they're selfish and want to do things their way." Reimu stated. "I don't know how I got from Point A to Point B, but the next thing I knew, I found myself back at the house and going face to face with Beth and Jerry putting Grampa's stuff away…"
ONE DAY PRIOR… 1:30 PM
After her talk with Gene, everybody went home, with Reimu being the last to get into her car. As she drove across the street, she reached into her pocket and pulled out a rock she found in Dimension 35-C. Unlike the shades of gray and/or brown she was familiar with on Earth, this rock was a purple color. She took a deep breath while staring at the rock on her car, thinking to herself about her new possession. 'In hindsight, I should've asked Rick if I could keep this rock as a souvenir. Maybe I can ask him later on…'
As she went closer and closer towards the Smith Residence, she saw something odd. There was a moving truck parked right in front of the garage. She remembered that Rick set up shop in the garage, so why were Beth and Jerry packing his stuff up and putting it in said truck? Curiosity was getting the best of her, and she ultimately parked the car next to the moving truck and walked inside. As she did, she noticed that they were talking to Rick, with Morty being in the same room the other three were in.
"What are you guys doing with my stuff?" Rick asked in an angered manner.
"We're moving you to a nursing home." Beth answered plainly.
"A nursing home? You don't have permission to do so!" Reimu stated as she walked in.
"A nursing home? What are… What are you, nuts? I'm a genius. I build robots for fun." Rick stated.
"Well, now you can build baskets and watch Paul Newman movies on VHS and mentally scar the Boy Scouts every Christmas." Jerry said in an angered manner.
"I doubt this would work on him." Reimu interjected. "Yes, he's old, but he is not senile. A nursing home or a retirement home is not gonna contain him. Plus, you don't have any permission in that manner. Not to mention all the money an-"
"Oh fuck permission, Reimu! And fuck the money, too! They don't need that!" Beth snapped. "Obviously, he's been dragging Morty along with his stupid adventures."
"Which was what I texted to you two about!" Reimu rebutted. She took a deep breath, speaking much more calmly with her next statement. "...but instead, you decided to ignore my words and do things your way, even if it didn't align with all the legal stuff and whatnot. They'd send him right back."
Soon enough, the door opened once more, with tears running down her eyes, her mascara stained, and her arms scarred with a knife. "Frank Palikay was frozen to death today!"
"Why are you mourning that guy, anyway? He threatened to cut your little brother." Reimu asked.
"YOU'RE LYING! FUCK YOU AND YOUR LIES!" Summer attempted to punch Reimu in the eye, but she quickly dodged as the redhead instead had her fist hit the hard wall, causing her to cry even more and run out the room.
Reimu let out a sigh as Beth and Jerry resumed glaring at Rick. "I should probably take care of her egotistical and self-absorbed aspects after this." She turned towards the rest of her family. "But now, we should probably talk about the elephant in the room."
"Please, guys! Just stop arguing! Rick needed my help, that's all." Morty pleaded.
At this point, Jerry turned his attention toward his son. "Morty, stay out of this. You are obviously not capable of judging these situations on your own."
"What are you trying to say about Morty? That he's stupid or something?" Rick asked, wanting answers.
"Oh, don't high-road us, Dad. You know fully well that Morty is the last child that needs to be missing classes." Beth said.
"I-I-I don't know what you mean by that. Can, can, can you be a little bit more specific?" Rick asked.
"Oh, for crying out—he's got some kind of disability or something. Is that what you want us to say?" Jerry replied.
"I do?" Morty asked.
"Well, duh doy, son." Jerry said, crouching up to Morty's eye level in a fatherly fashion. "Look, I love you, Morty, but we both know you're not as fast as the other kids, and if you want to compete in this world, you gotta work twice as hard."
"Okay, I doubt he's learning disabled." Reimu interjected. "I think Morty has some hidden talent within him that is waiting to be unlocked, to shine like the sun. A talent you two refuse to see."
"You know what? The girl's right." Rick said with a smirk. He looked towards Morty. "What's the square root of pi?"
Reimu winced as she saw Morty's posture stiffen suddenly with his expression temporarily being wall-eyed as he spoke and answered Rick's question. "1.77245385... Whoa!"
"What the hell?" Beth asked as she raised an eyebrow.
Jerry proceeded to check Morty's answer with a calculator. "Holy crap, he's right."
"Okay, what did you do?" Reimu asked.
"Oh nothing, Reimu. Just a little education, that's all." Reimu knew Rick was lying, and noticed that he was talking to Morty again, asking him yet another question. "Morty, tell your parents the first law of Thermodynamics."
Reimu noticed that Morty stiffened yet again and responded in the same robotic manner. "The increment in the internal energy of a system is equal to the increment of heat supplied to the system." Morty snapped out of it and immediately cheered. "Wow! I'm smart!"
Jerry stammered. "But-"
"I told the both of you school is stupid." Rick interrupted. "It's not how you learn things. Morty's a gifted child. He has a special mind. That's why he's my little helper. He's like me. He's gonna be doing great science stuff later in his life. He's too smart for school. He needs to keep hanging out and helping me."
"Jerry, I don't want whatever's happening here to stop." a teary-eyed Beth reacted. Reimu simply rolled her eyes at her aunt's comment.
"No, I-I understand. Uh, maybe we overreacted." Jerry stammered once more.
"Seriously, he still needs to go to school, and it's not just for education." Reimu interjected. "Could you two leave the three of us alone? There's something I want to talk about with Grampa and Morty, kay?"
"Okay." Jerry proceeded to turn towards Morty. "Well, uh, Morty, it's your bedtime in an hour. Don't stay up all night again. This is good, though. This can work. I think we can be a family now." He turned towards Beth. "Beth, if you'll have me, I would love to have you."
Beth weighed her options. "You know what? I'd love to have you."
As the two left the scene, Reimu turned towards Rick. "Alright, Grampa. I can see through it. You did something to give him superintelligence to get Beth and Jerry off your back. What did you do?"
"You saw right through it, but in all honesty, I didn't do anything, not directly. The superintelligence Morty has was nothing more than a side-effect of the mega seeds dissolving in his rectal cavity." Rick explained.
"Wait, what?" Reimu asked.
"Aw, man." Morty slumped down in defeat.
"Yeah, and once those seeds wear off, he's gonna lose most of his motor skills, and he is also gonna lose a significant amount of brain functionality for around seventy-two hours… Starting…" Rick checked one of the many watches he had under his sleeve until he found the right one. "Now."
The moment Rick said this, Morty immediately lost consciousness. "Ohh, man. Oh, geez! Ohh." He dropped down to the ground and moaned uncontrollably, letting out a few laughs as he went through a seizure.
Reimu looked on in horror, but not before Rick grabbed her by the arm. "Wha? What!?"
"Who? What? Where? Why!? Those are the questions to be asked!" Rick stated. "I'm sorry. It's a bummer. Morty's as dumb as they can be and I needed those seeds real bad to get Beth and Jerry off my back, though I didn't expect you to be able to see through that, so now we've got to get more!"
"But you haven't recharged your portal gun-" Reimu protested, or attempted to before Rick interrupted her.
"But that's okay, case for you, Morty…" Rick looked towards Morty. "And then we're gonna go on even more adventures after that, Morty and you're gonna keep your mouth shut about it, Morty, because the world is full of idiots that don't understand what's important, and they'll tear us apart, Morty but if you stick with me, I'm gonna accomplish great things, Morty, and you're gonna be part of them, and together, we're gonna run around, Morty. We're gonna do all kinds of wonderful things, Morty. Just you and me, Morty. The outside world is our enemy, Morty. We're the only friends we've got, Morty. It's just Rick and Morty. Rick and Morty and their-"
"Will you just cure poor Morty already!?" Reimu snapped. She took a deep breath, speaking in a more calm, yet still stern manner. "If you want to continue to have him on your adventures, then you should at least take care of him."
Rick looked at his granddaughter and groaned. "Okay, okay. Geez, you're such a killjoy."
"Okay, I know I wanted the whole story, but why did he go to all that trouble only to throw it away?" Sanae asked.
Reimu sighed. "Grampa Rick is an enigma from what I've known. He left when I was a toddler, only to come back years later before my twenty-first birthday." By now, the two had finished their remaining snacks, and Reimu got up. "I was not able to get Morty off his adventures, but I was able to get Rick to allow him to be at school again. Ah well, it's just one hurdle at a time, just one more obstacle to overcome, I suppose."
"You seem rather dedicated towards your family, Reimu." Sanae stated.
"Yeah, especially considering Beth and Jerry hardly take care of their own kids." Reimu replied. "They've got some serious talent inside of them, even if they or Grampa Rick are unable to see it." She got up from her spot on the bench and looked towards her green-haired colleague. "If you happen to have a story to tell me, then I'm all ears for it."
"Is… did your cousin turn out okay?" Sanae asked.
"Fortunately, yeah. I managed to make sure Grampa cured him." Reimu stated. "Unfortunately, Summer is still locked in her room after Frank's death. I'm worried about how she is behaving, but one hurdle at a time, I suppose. We could still swap stories, but for now, I suppose I have to return home. I've got a family to keep in line, as well as dinner. I might not like the personalities Beth and Jerry have, but their cooking is extremely good to tell you the truth."
Sanae smiled. It was similar to another old friend of Reimu's. And that was not talking about Marisa. "Perhaps you should do it again, Reimu! From what you told me, it was extremely fun, though a little risky."
Reimu smiled. "In all honesty, despite my fears and anxiety, I absolutely loved the adventure. As a kid, I always wanted to be an astronaut going around in space and going to Luna or Mars or whatever. In my teens, I thought that I would be confined to Terra. Of course, I never thought that I would be able to go to other dimensions, even when I was but a little kid." The two were walking down another path, with Reimu staring off into space, yet still remaining aware of her surroundings. "But now, I'm kinda craving more. I just hope Grampa doesn't ruin my schedule."
A starry-eyed, excited Sanae turned towards Reimu with glee. "Do you think we might experience something weird and supernatural ourselves? Like some youkai or something? Back in Japan, I've seen a lot of anime and read a lot of manga regarding youkai and even read some of my old mythology books!"
Reimu merely shook her head. "Not youkai, they are nothing more than myths. But then again, infinite realities mean infinite possibilities to experience, not just aliens. So perhaps the supernatural might not be out of possibility if your grandfather can open portals to every conceivable reality. Who knows what we'll find out there?"
As the two girls walked back to the shrine, the bushes rustled. Several sets of glowing yellow eyes opened before blinking several times. A series of cackles belonging to several different people sounded. After that, the sets of eyes immediately closed and the bushes stopped rustling.
Well, here we are, friends! A new beginning for my story. Hopefully, I won't quit on this baby. While I did use the original template from the pilot episode, you could see some clear differences from the original. I haven't gotten much in the reviews department, so I've been asking around for various peoples' opinions and having chats with my father to look for a good way to bring it to life, so to speak.
1.) I've found that Seattle has a Japanese community, so why not exploit that? I was inspired by fanfiction where youkai were living in modern-day Japanese communities, and they weren't even in Japan! I don't even have to go their for youkai.
2.) The presense of Sanae Kochiya. I didn't give her the best serve in my old story, so I decided to repurpose her as a coworker of Reimu's. The shrine the two work at IS a real shrine existing in our world: the Tsukabi Grand Shrine of America, which brings us to...
3.) Reimu's job as a shrine maiden. It's rather different from her canon self. For her, she actually gets paid for it! Good! Also, in Reimu Sanchez's eyes, it's only a temporary college job. Even if that is the case, this links her with her canonical counterpart pretty well.
4.) Reimu's friendship with Marisa. Major spoilers going on, so I'm not exactly willing to tell. It takes place a few episodes from now, but I suppose you guys might know an answer (wink, wink).
To any old fans of my story, what do you think about these changes? Do they fit my plans well? And to any newcomers, I hope I can provide the proper entertainment for you boys, girls, men, women, whoever you identify yourself as, I hope I can do justice. Also, this story will be cross-posted on Archive of Our Own on my other account. I'll be sure to link it in the future, and hopefully, I can go up and out with this version of the story. Wish me luck, and don't be afraid to offer assistance. Until next time, see you later. And check my A03 account as well. It does not have the same stories as the original, but perhaps I could salvage it and use it for my own benefit. Here it is.
