Buck woke up in the morning, knowing that he was on a mission. He was going to do something that he never thought he would. He was going to face his fears and take a chance. Buck went on with his morning routine, had a shower, ate breakfast, and made coffee to go. He just couldn't make the smile he had had on go away, he woke with happy, and he didn't want anything to change that.

As Buck pulled into the fire station and started to make his way into the building. Butterflies started to make their appearance known, he started to feel all flustered and nervous like he was back in high school, but he knew that he wanted to do this. He's been working up the nerve to do this, he wasn't going to back out now.

Opening his locker and placing his belongings inside, he hears footsteps approaching behind him.

"Hey, Buck." Eddie said has he made his way to his own locker. Buck turned towards his friend.

"Morning" Buck said with a smile. He was far too happy this early in the morning.

"Why are you to happy this morning?" Eddie asked as he started to put his belongings into his locker.

Buck couldn't hide it anymore. He needed to tell someone. "I'm going to do it."

Eddie was confused. "I'm sorry, you're going to do what?"

"Oh, I thought you knew. I've talked about it."

"Yeah, sorry, I've been pre-occupied with Christopher and haven't been paying too much attention."

Buck's noticed that Eddie had been a little distracted, but he thought nothing of it since he's a lot on his plate with Christopher, but he's sensed there's something more going on.

"Well, I've decided to talk to Tommy." Buck told him. There's nothing holding him back now. "I've discovered that there's more going on between us and I want to be able to see where it goes."

"Wow, that's a big step." Eddie's response came out as more of a shock and surprise.

"Is there something wrong with me asking Tommy out?" Buck asked.

"No, I mean, I didn't know you were into him."

Buck walked towards Eddie and standing in front of him. "I wasn't sure if I was, but the more we talked and the way he really paid attention to the little things made me think that there was something going on between us."

Eddie looked disappointed. Like he was trying to come to terms with what Buck as said.

"If that's what you want to do, I'm here for it."

"Are you okay with me trying to figure this out?"

"Your my best friend. There's no reason for me to stand in your way."

"Is this going to change anything between us?" Buck wanted to know that his best friend wasn't going to walk away.

"Of course not. I'm here to support you."

There was some awkwardness like Eddie wanted to say more, but Buck didn't want to push him into saying anything then what he wanted to say. He knew that Eddie needed to go through his thoughts and try and figure things out.

"Really?" Buck said with a smile, but trying to hide his disappointment that Eddie wasn't being truthful. He needed Eddie to be open and honest, but he wanted to get to Tommy before he chickened out.

"Yeah, man. I'm happy for you. You got to give me the details." Eddie tried to give a smile, but it felt forced, it wasn't genuine.

"You'll be the first person I'll call." Buck told him.

"I better be."

Just as they thought they were getting back on track to their regular conversation, the bell in the fire hall went off meaning they were on their way for a call. Both men closed their lockers and raced towards the engine, once everyone was on board, the engine took off in the direction of the call.

LATER THAT DAY

When Buck got home at the end of the day. He picked up the phone and called Tommy. This was it. He was going to ask if he was free that night to hang out. He was thinking about it all day on what he was going to say, but once he made the call, everything he wanted to say disappeared. He was lost for words.

The phone kept ringing. Buck was worried that Tommy wasn't going to pick up, but at the last minute before he hang up, Tommy answered.

"Hey Tommy, its Buck." He was nervous. "I was wondering if you were free tonight?"

It took a minute for Tommy to responded. He probably had to think about if he was available. "Ok, great. Let's say around 7pm at that pizza place downtown?" He couldn't stop smiling. This was actually happening. "Great, I'll see you then." Buck hung up the phone. Now that it was confirmed, he needed to be on his best behavior and not screw it up. This is either going to make it or break it. It was now or never.
