Name: Basilika
Role: Sector Capital
Population: 27 Billion
Classification: Hive World
Planetary Governor: Dux Majoris Konstantius ΧΧΧΙΙ Byzar
Type of Government: Administrative Monarchical Realm (The Central Government of Hive Byzargrad retains control of the PDF and dispatches Exarchs to 'assist' local noble councils in their decision-making processes. Byzargrad's supremacy was cemented during the events of the First Miklagard Deluge when Dux Majoris Konstantius XI used the backing of the Space Marines that would later form the core of the Miklagard Praetorians and the theological backing of the Ministorum to purge a large number of noble families 'suspected' of corruption and treachery. Exarchs are usually members of the Byzar family that also have a position in the Adeptus Administorum with their main responsibility being to gather the tithe)
Geography: Large continental mass with vast rail lines between the Hives. The Hives are roughly situated within an area marked by seven large mountains. An area has been artificially kept at environmentally optimal conditions to grow the expensive nets of Imperatrix Spiders that are used in a variety of expensive gowns and are considered a luxury item. Basilika has two moons, Nomentana (the Chapter Homeworld of the Miklagard Praetorians) and Ostia (a small but vital Agri-World)

-Main Hives:
-Hive Byzargrad: "The Capital City"

The Hive houses many important locations like of the Cathedral of the Emperor's Wisdom, seat of Cardinal Methodius Thrax and the Palace of Byzar, the traditional seat of the Byzar family. The Palace serves as the seat of Dux Majoris Konstantius XXXII Byzar, Sector Governor of Miklagard as well as housing the services of the major Adepta (Terra, Administratum, Telepathica, Inquisition) and the Strategium, the Sector's Command of the Imperial Guard and Navy.

-Hive Victoriana: "The Second City"

Home to the largest part of the Hive's military production. It also houses the headquarters of the local PDF. Rising up into the sky is the Golden Chain, a refurbished piece of Archeotech which connects the Hive with the orbital shipyards that service a large part of Battlefleet Miklagard. Victoriana temporarily served as Capital during the brief fall of the high spire of Hive Byzargrad during the First Miklagard Deluge

-Hive Ravenica: "The Embittered City"

Named The Embittered City due to its local elite hailing largely from loyalist relations of the rulers of Hive Maxentiana, the planet's old Capital whose leadership fell to the influence of Chaos during the Horus Heresy. While the Inquisition cleared them of any collusion with their old family members, the overlordship of Basilika was transferred permanently to House Byzar which has left some old resentments festering.

-Hive Maxentiana: "The Fallen City"

Maxentiana has largely been abandoned due to large damage during the Horus Heresy. There are possibly a few thousand strugglers living in its metal skeleton while expeditions to recover old artifacts are regularly launched.

-Economy: The currency in Basilika is the Solidii. It is the most valued and circulated currency in the Sector.

-Exports: Manufactured Goods, Military Equipment, Imperatrix Spider Silk for a variety of uses, large manpower tithes

-Guard Regiments recruited by Basilika:

Excubitor Armored Regiment - Regiment with a focus on Mechanized Infantry

Palatine Guard - Highly disciplined infantry regiments

-Brief historical notes

During the Horus Heresy, House Byzar rose to leadership of the Hive after remaining loyal to the Imperium and engaging in warfare alongside Hives Victoriana and Ravenica against the Traitors of Hive Maxentiana. During the First Deluge, the High Spire of Hive Byzar fell to a combined assault of Chaos Cultists and Demonic Incursions, necessitating a coordinated counterattack by the PDF, Guard and Space Marine troops to retake it. Temporarily the Capital was moved to Hive Victoriana. Already rich due to the stable Warp passages bypassing the Maelstrom, Basilika became even more prominent after the Badab War and the destruction of Badab Primaris in the neighboring sector.
