With his hood shielding his face from the sun with its shade, Max strolled around Gravity Falls with his hands in his pockets. Some of his seniors in the clan had told him how fun it was to make fun of or play around with the newbies, which they did with him before they stopped considering him the "new guy." It lasted a decade, but that wasn't too long for vampires. Anyway, he finally understood what was so fun about it after making Dipper shit his pants.

He snickered to himself. That little dweeb was clearly afraid of vampires even after becoming one. It was understandable, of course, who wouldn't be? Especially when they were faced with someone like Max? It may have been slightly arrogant thinking, but it was the truth! He needed to show the guy his place in the clan's food chain. Since he was the newbie now, he would be everyone's punching bag. Nevertheless, he should be aware that Max nor anyone from the clan would seriously harm him as long as he stayed in his place. The Blooded Vampire hadn't lied when he told him he was here to watch him.

He didn't want Dipper to do anything reckless, stupid, or worse… traitorous. They couldn't allow traitors in their ranks, and Max knew how most unwillingly-turned vampires tended to act. It would only be this summer, anyway. As long as their new member was a good boy, nothing would happen to him or the ones he loved. One thing did intrigue him, though. This place…

It looked like a nice enough town from the outside. It had nothing strange about it unless you went in. The residents looked like your average puny human, even if some of them looked like unique characters. Before he got there, he couldn't understand why no Vampire Lord ever declared this place their territory. Even Joseph refused to tell him! Only said to be careful. Apparently, it was something only Vampire Lords were allowed to know. Curiosity was one of his flaws, so he was glad he got tasked with watching Dipper because it would give him the opportunity to satiate his curiosity by seeing what it was all about in person!

This was nothing like he expected. The normal-looking town was anything but! The moment he got there, he went to look for Dipper, so he didn't look around. However, now that he had some free time and enjoyed a small vacation, he was able to witness the town's… unique atmosphere.

A couple of gnomes ran by a trash bin nearby, a minotaur-looking guy did some push-ups in the forest (for a second, he thought it was a werewolf and was ready to pounce), and the giant eyeballs with bat wings flew over his head. There were even fairies! They weren't the only magical creatures he had seen, but his mind had been turned upside down, so counting all of them was not his priority. Of course, he was aware the supernatural existed. He was a vampire! Their hated enemies, the werewolves, also loved to remind them of their existence.

He even had to deal with a ghost once or twice. However… Gnomes? Giant eyeballs? This was the first time he laid his eyes on those things! He never even believed most of the things he had seen here exist! Why was he never told about this? Did Joseph know about it? Did the other Lords? Was that why it was a neutral zone? Max was told to be careful, but he had to admit he wanted to investigate this town further. Perhaps this was also why Dipper came here? What if he hated being a vampire and looked for a way to betray them? It was a stretch, but believable coming from a newbie.

He could extract the information from Dipper himself, but best not to antagonize him further. Max wasn't scared of him, by no means, but Joseph likely wouldn't be too happy if he bullied their newest member. Asking around should be easy enough considering… NO ONE CARED! No one was reacting to the insane creatures either flying or running around! That meant they were used to them, obviously!

For a second, he even thought he wouldn't have to hide his nature, but he quickly dismissed the idea. No matter the scenario, vampires couldn't just reveal themselves to anyone. Besides, the abnormal creatures he came across weren't known as dangerous as vampires were, after all. At least, he thought the eye bats weren't… He never heard of those things before.

He finally decided to ask around and check what the inhabitants had to say. The vampire looked around until he laid his eyes on an average-looking man with black hair. Max walked up to them and put on a friendly face as he waved a hand.

"Yo! Sorry to bother you, sir, but I'm new here," He introduced himself as the other man turned to look at him.

"Hello, stranger. Can I help you with something?" The other man asked.

"I was just wondering something," The vampire began before motioning to a nearby animal. At least, what looked like an animal. Some kind of amalgamation between an eagle and an octopus stood on one of the roofs. "What's the deal with that? Ever since I got here, weird things have been showing up,"

"Oh, never mind all that," The local waved his hand dismissively, smiling as if there was nothing strange.

"Huh?" Max uttered. Before he could even say anything more, the other man walked away. "What do you mean 'never mind all that'? Ya can't just say that after seeing an octopus with wings!" He threw his hands in the air in exasperation. What kind of town was this?!

Grumbling, he figured he would have more luck by hypnotizing one of the residents and making them answer his questions by force. However, he stopped himself from going after the other man once his nose picked up an irregular scent. Max always had a good sense of smell even for vampire standards. It smelled… unnatural. It was the same odor the things he came across emitted, and was similar to vampires and werewolves, likely because they were also supernatural creatures.

What he didn't expect, however, was for the scent to lead him to a random building with no windows and a single wooden door with the number 13 engraved in it. Max eyed the house curiously before sniffing the air again. Yep, there was definitely something hiding behind it with a smell stronger than anything he had stumbled upon ever since he got there. Perhaps, this could give him more information on this town's weirdness. Even if Joseph knew more than he let on, he couldn't know everything about it, right? If Max informed him of something valuable here, then maybe they would use this place as an advantage. It would give them an edge over the other Vampire Lords.

Now, he knew venturing inside was potentially dangerous, but he wasn't just a man. He was a vampire. A Blooded Vampire, at that! He had nothing to fear! Instead, whatever creatures living in this town would have to fear him. There was a lock on the door, of course, but it didn't seem locked as he attempted and successfully opened it. However, instead of seeing the house's insides, he was faced with a brick wall.

"Seriously?" He asked in amusement. This wasn't going to stop him. He glanced around, checking nobody watched what he was doing, then cocked his fist back before punching the wall, shattering it to pieces. However, much to his shock, instead of opening a way inside, he was met with another brick wall. "What the?" Max uttered before grumbling. He punched it again, and again, another brick wall. Clearly, there was magic involved. Unfortunately, he did not know magic. Luckily, he may have had a way to enter still. Not far from where he stood, a gnome had been rummaging in a trash can for a couple of minutes. Wordlessly, he walked over to the can and grabbed the small bearded man by the scruff of his neck.

"Hey!" The gnome complained as he was lifted in the air.

"You're magic, aren't you?" Max inquired with boredom.

"Yeah, so what?" The gnome crossed his arms, exasperated by being bothered by a human, which happened way more than you would think.

"I want to go in there," The vampire pointed at the door with a thumb. "How do I do that?" He raised a nonchalant eyebrow.

"I have no idea how you found that place, but humans aren't welcome!" The gnome bravely barked. Certainly, he didn't know who he was dealing with, right? Max clicked his tongue before lowering his head to show his face, which half of it had been hidden under his hood. The bearded creature froze with fear as Max revealed his blood-red eyes, pale face, and open mouth with his sharp fangs.

"Do I look like a human to you?!" The vampire growled. The gnome, too scared and surprised only managed to sputter nonsense. "Now speak!" Max ordered, his eyes shining red as the gnome gazed into them.

"Finally! We're here! I missed this place so much!" Mabel exclaimed joyfully while skipping toward the Greasy's Diner. Well, they had been there only three years prior and never again since, so Dipper had to admit it made him slightly nostalgic.

While his conversation with Max had spooked him a little, the phone call with Ford brought him hope again. He mustn't forget he wasn't alone in this, and he would have all the help he needed. He doubted an army of vampires could do much against the Pines family. However, he was still hesitant concerning Mabel.

She was much better than she was in the past when it came to romance and nosiness. She also respected people's boundaries more, so he knew for certain he didn't need to watch out for another love potion incident. Unfortunately, she was still Mabel, and she still had an obsession with vampires. She didn't outgrow it. Worst of all, she still watched Twilight from time to time. He didn't know how she would react when face to face with vampires. What would she even do when she learned that he was a vampire, too? He wouldn't be surprised if she begged him to either turn her or introduce her to another vampire, and he wasn't about to do any of those things.

Once his two great-uncles get here, they would be enough to keep her in check, so it should be fine to tell her then.

The moment they came in, Mabel took a long breath, taking in the room's atmosphere she missed so much.

"Ah! It's good to be back!" She shouted enthusiastically, attracting several awkward stares. There were a lot of people, but still not enough to fill the whole place.

"Mabel, just… Let's just sit," Dipper blushed as he tried to ignore the patron's looks while he walked to the nearest free table. Fortunately, they quickly stopped watching them once Mabel sat across. Since he was in the shade, he removed his hood but kept the trapper hat on his head. Just like his cap before, he rarely took it off.

"Hey, Lady Susan!" Mabel waved at the older woman behind the counter the moment her butt touched her seat.

"Hello there, sweeties! Welcome back!" She greeted them cheerfully while cleaning an empty glass. "Pacifica should be here to take your orders!" She stated loud enough for the blonde girl to hear.

"Coming!" The familiar and harmonic voice responded, dashing away the last glimpses of worries Dipper had. Just like she said, they didn't even need to wait a second before Pacifica came to take their orders. Finally, her boyfriend had the opportunity to take a good look at her outfit. He already did 4 years ago since Pacifica had worked here during summer for 5 years now, but this was the first time he had seen her in it in the last 3 years. It was a plain pink dress with a white apron; however, unlike the other waitresses whose dresses reached their ankles, Pacifica's dress stopped at her knees, showing off her legs (which he already got a good view of last night). Because of her slimmer waist, the apron was also wrapped around her more tightly, which highlighted her curves and overall body shape well. The fact that she was his girlfriend filled him with confidence again. Why did he care that Mabel embarrassed him earlier again?

"Woah, Paz! You rock that outfit even more now!" Mabel complimented her while checking her over.

"Thanks, Mabel! But my eyes are up here," Pacifica joked as she raised Mabel's by her chin, making her giggle.

"What about you, bro? Did you forget where her eyes were, too?" The female twin snickered while glancing at her brother.

"Hush, he's allowed to look," Pacifica playfully hit Mabel over the head with her notepad.

"Right now, I want more than just look," Dipper grinned slyly, making his sister widen her eyes in surprise at his sudden boldness.

She was about to comment, only for Pacifica to beat her to it.

"Oh, really?" The blonde gave him a sultry smirk. "What do you have in mind?" She asked, which only served to confuse Mabel even more, not expecting Pacifica to play along. This caused her to shift her gaze between her brother and her friend.

"There's this one thing I always wanted to have a taste of… I was told only you could…" He smirked, his eyes scanning Pacifica's body. Before he could finish his sentence, the blonde interjected.

"Unfortunately, I don't think we have what you're thinking of at the moment, but who knows? There may be some available tonight," Pacifica smiled, gently moving locks of hair behind her ear. "If you want, I can deliver it to you," She offered, slightly leaning toward her boyfriend.

"I would love to. I'd be ready to give a nice and big tip," Dipper eagerly accepted, replying in a suave tone.

"W-What is happening?" Mabel whispered to herself in horror. She had never imagined this day would come, but here it was… Dipper was flirting! And it sounded… She wasn't even sure how to describe it! He must have been doing something right because he wasn't single anymore unlike her!

"For now, though. I would recommend sausages and eggs," Pacifica got ready to write the order down on her notepad as she backed away.

"I'm not surprised; you do love sausages, especially if they're large," Dipper commented, making his girlfriend chuckle.

"And how would you know, mister?" She questioned with amusement.

"I have a good source-" Dipper began, only for Mabel to suddenly punch the table.

"No! No! I'm not hearing you two talk about my brother's dong!" She yelled, which again perked up multiple people's attention, much to the other two's embarrassment. "Seriously, you guys aren't even subtle about it… Oh, God… You're disgustingly flirty," She gagged.

The two loves looked at each other in silence before letting out small and quiet snickers.

"I don't know what you're talking about, Mabes. We were only talking about sausages," Pacifica shrugged innocently. Dipper's sister could only cross her arms with a pout. "Anyway, do you want the same as your brother?" She asked while writing it down on her notepad.

"Yes, please," The other girl responded, slightly more cheerful this time.

"Since you haven't been here in forever, I could do you a favor and get you an extra size for that sausage with no additional fees, would you like that?" The blonde offered, which made the brown-haired girl beam.

"That would be awesome! Thanks, Paz!" Mabel responded happily. She supposed being friends and dating a waitress here gave you some privileges, which she wouldn't refuse!

"Oh, so you're that kinda girl, Mabel? I see," Pacifica grinned before walking away after she finished writing the orders down.

The gears in Mabel's head turned for a couple of seconds until the girl understood what her twin's girlfriend meant, and her brain processed it. Immediately, she blushed.

"Ah, darn it! I walked right into that one! Gross!" She exclaimed while shaking her head.

Dipper simply laughed to himself as he watched his sister. Even if she was older, and always tried to go for guys to date, she still wasn't quite open to talk about sex or genitals like that even if she did occasionally make jokes about those things.

As expected, the Greasy's Diner was pretty quiet, which you wouldn't think would be the case for a town like Gravity Falls. Even if some shenanigans happened from time to time here, it was mostly peaceful. It was almost enough to make people forget how weird their hometown was, but they knew better.

Unfortunately, much to Mabel's dismay, her tranquility was often disturbed by Dipper and Pacifica. While their orders were getting ready, the blonde would sometimes pass by their table and use that as an opportunity to flirt with Mabel's twin brother. The female twin couldn't help but shudder every time they did it as it put weird images in her head. Images of her brother and Pacifica having sex. What astonished her the most was how casual they were about it. She still didn't get used to it since she didn't think Dipper would be so frank about the subject. He was even more so than her!

Once Pacifica gave them their plates, the two lovers talked again, this time with much less flirtiness. The rich girl was only talking about her job and anything new that might have happened. They were so absorbed in their conversation that they didn't even notice Mabel pouting about being ignored… or the patrons that just entered the diner.

"Hey, guys! What's up?" A feminine voice interjected, belonging to the one and only Wendy Corduroy. The rest of her family, which consisted of her father and brothers, sat at another table a bit further away since the seats at the counter were already taken.

"Hi, Wendy," Pacifica smiled victoriously. Naturally, she knew about Dipper's former crush, so she could only grin in glee with the knowledge of having won against her, and taking Dipper before she could have even realized the opportunity she missed. The huge opportunity.

"Hey, Wendy!" The twins replied, one more upbeat than the other. While Mabel was happy to see her, she still felt like gagging because of the two lovers.

"We felt like having lunch here today," Dipper explained why they were here.

"Same. Honestly, I was just too lazy to cook something for my family," Wendy shrugged, gesturing to her father and brothers.

None of the three teens could relate at all. Even if Mabel liked cooking, she never had to cook for her whole family daily. Obviously, Dipper and Pacifica didn't either. The redhead always had so many responsibilities at home, so it was difficult not to feel bad for her. Nevertheless, the blonde was still feeling quite victorious about winning Dipper's heart when Wendy couldn't, and her situation wouldn't take that away from her.

"It's great that you're here, Wen-Wen! You get to hear the news, first!" Mabel suddenly exclaimed, making her brother's jaw slightly drop. Was she really going to reveal his relationship status, now?

He still had a hard time accepting that he never had a chance with Wendy, so telling her so soon felt like it was a way to make him move on. He wanted to move on! It was just too soon! Though… The fact that Pacifica made him so happy did make it easier.

"The news? What news?" Wendy inquired with an arched eyebrow, getting curious now. Instead of letting Mabel answer, Pacifica stood next to Dipper and side-hugged him, pulling his head into her bosoms.

"Dipper and me are dating!" She announced proudly, making the redhead's eyes widen in surprise.

"Wow, that's… congrats, dudes," Wendy stammered, baffled as this was the last thing she expected to hear from them. However, even through her surprise and disappointment, she still smiled. Thankfully, it looked sincere enough that the others didn't question her honesty.

Internally, she was mad. Not at Pacifica or Dipper, mind you, but at herself… She should have known he wouldn't be single forever. She should have made a move, and now it was too late. After all the failed relationships she went through, it was easy for her to think that no guy was worth the trouble. Most of them were jerks, either that or this was the most insane case of bad luck she had ever seen. Anyway, disappointment after disappointment, she quickly realized that the only man in her life (not blood-related to her) who nearly never disappointed her was Dipper. He had all the qualities she looked for in someone. He was… her dream guy.

And she realized that when she saw him again this year the age gap wasn't as apparent and weird as it was before.

Unfortunately, this realization came too late considering Pacifica was already dating him. She got her heart broken because of her stupid indecisiveness!

"Thank you," Pacifica smiled as she finally let Dipper breathe. "Surprisingly, Dipper here took the first step," She pointed at her boyfriend, who sheepishly rubbed the back of his head.

"Yup! Worked up my courage and did it!" He stated while chuckling nervously. He still wouldn't admit that he did it by accident. He would take this secret to his grave if he had to!

The others noticed his nervousness, however. Maybe they didn't think too much of it since they were used to seeing Dipper as a nervous wreck, but he wasn't someone who would have sudden anxiety for no reason anymore. He certainly didn't want them to think he was hiding something. Luckily, the young vampire found his saving grace once his eyes landed on something familiar, something he never forgot. It was the Manliness Test Machine! It was fixed and brand new! At its side sat a plate of pancakes.

The first time, he ridiculed himself in front of the whole diner because he received an abysmal score. However… Now he had superhuman strength. In his new and evolved form, he had even more strength than when he did after he was turned. He could win this easily, and earn back his pride and dignity! It was time for revenge.

"Oh, the Manliness Machine! Didn't know they fixed that!" He exclaimed as he pointed at it, making everyone look. "Why don't I win some pancakes for everyone?" Dipper suggested while pointing at himself with his thumb.

"Are you sure, Broseph?" Mabel didn't seem too confident. "I know you've been hitting the gym, but don't you remember last time?" She painfully reminded him.

"It won't be like last time. Trust me," Her brother smirked pridefully as he stood up from his seat.

"What happened last time?" Pacifica cocked an eyebrow in confusion.

"You don't wanna know," Wendy muttered to her. It was funny at the time, watching Dipper get that score, but it must have been horribly embarrassing for him.

Dipper carefully approached his mortal enemy with a slow and confident march, clenching his fists in preparation and burning holes into its head with his glare. The air suddenly turned cold as the machine seemingly stared back at him. He wasn't going to let it win. Not this time. Once he was finally facing it, the boy cracked his fingers, then his neck. Gently, he slid a penny into it, turning it on.

"It's me and you, now," He muttered as he grabbed the machine's handle in a firm hold. Finally, he squeezed it. It was a light squeeze. It was just a warm-up. The machine's head and arms blew up as the handle was crushed inside his fist. Every single person in the diner turned their head to witness the spectacle. Even Manly Dan seemed impressed, mostly because he didn't think Dipper Pines would have that strength. The huge lumberjack nodded with acknowledgment. "Free pancakes for everyone!" The young vampire shouted as he raised his arms in victory.

And just as he wanted, everyone cheered, Mabel being the loudest. Finally, he got his due revenge.

"Damn, Dipper really must have been working his ass out," Wendy remarked, whistling at the teen's display.

"Yeah, tell me about it," Pacifica smirked, thinking back to the night they had before. She had all the time in the world to inspect his every muscle as if it had been sculpted by God himself.

The redhead just looked back at the blonde as if she understood what she meant, and blushed. Whatever thoughts she had, she kept them to herself.

Dipper took a bite of a pancake, watching a waitress giving out the rest to all the clients inside the diner. Oh, the sweet taste of retribution… He bet even the Manotaurs wouldn't like a taste of him! He still wasn't happy about being a vampire, but at least, he liked the little bonuses like enhanced capabilities. He would likely spend the day with his sister or Pacifica, which meant that apart from his discussion with Max, nothing went wrong! Today may just be a good day.

"P-Please, man, let me go!" Someone begged, wheezing desperately against the grip on his throat.

"As if I would listen to a pathetic clanless wimp," Max replied with disdain.

The vampire had used the hidden entrance after taking a key from the gnome and discovered there was some kind of black market for supernatural creatures. His sense of smell was pretty accurate, which was why he expected something like this. It still surprised him, though. There were all sorts of creatures, most even weirder than what he had seen on the surface! Those monsters shouldn't exist. It didn't make any sense!

Nevertheless, you would be surprised to know that what he expected the least was another vampire. Even if this was neutral ground, Joseph made it sound like vampires in general wouldn't want to live there, so he imagined that only Dipper and him would be in this town. Yet, he came across a clanless vampire -commonly known as a stray- in this underground place. Obviously, he attacked him. Strays repulsed him with their pitiful existence. They held no allegiance to anyone and were utterly untrustworthy. Some were cast out by their clans, others were exiled traitors. Some had been turned and never accepted into any clan, their lives spared but their loyalty forever in question.

They had nothing going for them, unlike the vampires in a clan like he was. Because they were alone, he could do anything he wanted to them without any repercussions because they had no one to back them. Strays also possessed quite a repulsive smell. This one in particular was only a regular Vampire; a Full–Fledged Vampire, so he was quite weak, too.

"P-Please! I just wanna live in peace in this town! I'm not trespassing on any territory!" The stray pleaded pathetically, which made Max sneer.

The positive about this black market was that nobody cared if someone was being murdered. Thus, the various monsters around did nothing beyond checking out whatever was happening, and then going back to their day. Some did feel bad for the stray, but they wouldn't get in between two monsters fighting.

"Quiet," Max ordered, squeezing the stray's throat tighter. Suddenly, a golden smoke-like aura spilled out of the stray's body, going immediately into Max's. The stray moaned in pain while desperately clutching the other vampire's wrist. Vampire blood was tasty, but it provided no nourishment as if it were mortal food. However, there was another way to use a vampire for sustenance. Blood Vampires and beyond could absorb someone's life energy, even if the process could be slower than drinking the blood depending on the vampire and the victim. Strays like him were only good for sustenance, so Max would gladly use him as such and become stronger along the way. A perk of absorbing someone's life. Slowly, the stray's body shriveled up, growing greyer and greyer until he looked like a mummy. After a minute, he was but an empty husk, looking like a statue. The Blooded Vampire crushed his neck, separating his head from his body as both parts fell to the ground and crumbled, turning to dust. "Thanks for the meal," He grinned as he stepped into the dust. "Trash,"

"You just had to do that in front of my stand," Someone nearby grumbled. Another monster Max had never seen, which seemed to be in charge of a stand selling limbs.

"Huh? Got a problem with that?" Max spat on the ground before glaring in the other monster's direction with his red eyes.

"N-No, man! Sorry," The monster quickly apologized nervously with his hands in the air.

"Yeah, that's what I like to hear," Max simpered arrogantly. After waiting to see if no one else would bother him, he walked away.

Maybe this assignment wouldn't be so boring, after all. He could sense that he would have a lot of fun in this town.
