Lucitana Rose:

I smile to myself. Today is the day I've been waiting for, for so long. Obviously there were a lot of objectors. But they were all silenced. Today is the reaping of the new First Annual Hunger Games.

I'm so excited! My mother sits next to me. Our eyes are fixed on the large screen in front of us. My friend, and vice-president, Bellatrix Crawlcut, sits on my other side. She's as excited as I am.

Time for the District 1 reaping.

The mayor walks onto the stage, and swirls his name in the large bowl. We all hold our breaths. Isn't this so exciting!

"Precious Vantegarde! Up you come." He is falsely smiling. I had a word with all the mayors. They all know the consequences of disloyalty. The girl looks about fifteen. Dark, curly hair and greyish hazel eyes.

"And now for the boys!"

"I volunteer!" A yell is heard from the crowd. He runs up to the stage, and grasps Precious's hand protectively.

"My name is Valour Vantegarde. Aged 18."

I laugh. "He volunteered for his sister, I bet! They must be siblings."

The two from 1 are escorted off the stage. Now, the District 2 reaping comes on.

Immediately. "I volunteer!"

Someone wasn't wasting their time. A gorgeous girl with toffee-like skin, and dark brown hair, walks onto the stage. Career. Definitely. "My name is Desdemona Caesara." Perfect name. She might even win, by the look in her eyes.

"Alright then! Now, onto the boys."

"I volunteer! Lazul Dendras!"

Very eager! I approve.

Now for District 3. They are rioting. The peacekeepers are firing shots like mad! I can barely hear the names being called out. Iodina something and Max bulb. At this point the crowd surges onto the stage. I can tell that the tributes can barely breathe. They'll crush them at this rate! I can see them being crushed into the wall. I can see their mouths opening into screams, inaudible in the rush. Then they both go limp, Max before Iodina. Great. Two pre-game deaths already, and we're only in the first 3 districts!

District 4.

No volunteers this time. The tributes are Marilyn Monrae and Rain Singing.

District 5.

Clest Saurshine and Meter Delira.

District 6.

Chassis Axel and Sabine Carria

District 7.

Otis Conifer and Fiona Elmswood.

District 8.

Terry Silken and Kelsi Cotton. Kelsi was crushed by another riot. Terry had the good sense to climb out of the way.

District 9.

Can't the district people show some restraint!? They crush their male tribute, Graham Barley. The female tribute, Frida Whetton, was escorted away just in time.

District 10.

Falcon Peregrine and Suzan Rex.

District 11.

Warder Applesby and Malinae Pomelo.

And finally 12.

Rooker Coal and Dyna Mite. I struggle not to laugh at her name.

A wide variety of tributes. This year might just be promising after all.
