"Mom! Mom! It's starting!" A child exclaims as he tries to drag his mother to the television so she could switch it on.
"I know, I know. Geez Izuku, you're excited today. What's so special about this documentary anyway? Haven't you seen this one already?" A woman, the boy's mother asks him.
"Not this one. This one's new. And it's a special edition! This one… This one has Professor Nezu doing the narration!" The boy tells her.
"Oh really? Well, I'm putting it on, but I've got some work to do. So can you promise me that you won't cause a mess here?" The mother asks him.
"Yep!" The kid tells her as he sits down to watch the documentary.
"You are watching 'The Amazing Pokémon World: A brief history'." The voice says as a silhouette is seen on the screen. "And who am I? Maybe I'm a rat? Or mouse? Maybe even a bear? But that doesn't matter, because today, I am your Narrator, Nezu and this is the National Geographic Channel." As the silhouette is revealed as a small white rodent-esque creature wearing a three piece suit.
"We begin right at the beginning, in a vortex of complete chaos and nothingness, a single Egg comes into being, which then hatches into Arceus, the first being in existence. Arceus then creates time, space, and anti-matter, and created Dialga, Palkia and Giratina, giving them control over these powers. Arceus ordered the three to create the universe.
Giratina, as punishment for its destructive nature, is sent by Arceus to live in the Distortion World while Dialga and Palkia completed the task they were given and retreat into their own dimensions afterwards, with a point of access being at the ancient Spear Pillar in Sinnoh.
Arceus then creates Uxie, Mesprit, and Azelf, giving knowledge, emotion, and willpower to all living things that come into existence in the Pokémon world. The three dived into caves at the bottom of Lake Verity, Lake Valor, and Lake Acuity in Sinnoh, granting them the name "lake guardians".
Kyogre is formed by the pressure in the deep sea trenches, Groudon is formed deep inside the Earth, likely from hardened magma and earth, and Rayquaza is formed by the minerals of the ozone layer. Rayquaza proceeds to fly around in the ozone layer, occasionally coming to rest at Sky Pillar in Hoenn.
Kyogre and Groudon then proceed to fill the sea and create land, respectively. A chance meeting turns the two into rivals, and a conflict for dominance over the Pokémon world begins. This battle continues until Rayquaza quells it, causing Kyogre and Groudon to retreat to their caverns, where they rest to this day. The Red and Blue Orbs were then created by ancient humans to prevent the reawakening of Kyogre and Groudon, and are left at Mt. Pyre for safekeeping. At this time, Mew may have been plentiful and lived in large numbers.
Landmasses such as Mt. Coronet are created at this time in the history as Regigigas moved the continents, forming the various regions, and to help him with this task he creates the three titans, Regirock, Regice, and Registeel, out of clay, ice, and magma, respectively.
The Sinnoh region is created around Mt. Coronet. During this violent procedure, Stark Mountain is created due to shifts in the crust of the world, and Heatran is formed in a pool of lava.
Arceus creates the Adamant, Lustrous, and Griseous Orbs before returning to his dimension and falling into a deep slumber.
Now, for this next part, we put out a special disclaimer as the information being shared today is based primarily on the study of Fossils and other archaeological remains. Some of this information is also based on scientific research.
Millions of years before current day, the world saw a decline in the population of the Mews. Fossil records from this era of the world show many prehistoric pokemon as well as the dawn of the first human civilization.
Pokemon paleontologists and world-renowned professors such as Professor Gary Oak have stated that around this time, pokemon such as Anorith, Lileep, Kabuto, Aerodactyl and many other pokemon existed on Ancient earth, residing either in the skies or in the primordial seas.
A hundred million years later, the immense pressure and temperatures found in the various rock formations lead to the formation of Carbink, which immediately entered a slumber.
About 100 million years ago, the world saw the first mass extinction event. At this time species such as Cranidos, Shieldon, Tirtouga, Archen, Tyrantrum and Amaura were supposedly widespread. They all ultimately went extinct, Archen and Tirtouga were said to have survived this cataclysmic event and became the ancestors to bird Pokémon and turtle Pokémon respectively, while their original forms slowly disappeared from the face of the Earth.
While not much is known about the food chains and food webs from this time, it was a well known fact that Shellders were common preys of Omastar. Carracosta and Archeops were the natural predators of the Omanyte line with only Carracosta being known to have eaten Omastar.
The only living pokemon that is known to have survived from that time is the Relicanth, a rare pokemon that is found at the depths of the sea and has remained unchanged for over 100 million years.
About 20,000 years ago, a meteorite containing Eternatus fell in the Galar region. It was around this time that the first Claydol was brought to life from a, well, clay doll.
During the last Ice Age, that occurred around 10,000 years ago, the Mamoswine population flourished, however, increasing temperatures lead to an eventual decline in their populations. Now these pokemon are rare and only seen in the areas where the temperatures touch or even go below 0 degrees Celsius.
At some point in the distant past, a random mutation in the genes of the Magikarp population made them rather weak.
Humans also started to worship many of the legendary and mythical pokemon. These included Ho-Oh, Lugia, Rayquaza, Arceus, Dialga, Palkia, Cresselia, Regigigas, Latios, Latias, Victini, Regice, Registeel, Regirock, Regielectri, Regidraco and many others.
It was around this time that humans, out of the fear of the unknown, sealed Regigigas away in the Snowpoint Temple in Sinnoh, and using Regirock, Regice, and Registeel as keys for the temple. The trio themselves are then sealed away at various points across the Hoenn region to keep anyone from unlocking the terrifying power of Regigigas.
3000 years in the past, during the Kalos war, a king, King AZ created the Ultimate weapon to revive his Floette. In doing so, he accidentally lead to the creation of the mega stones and the discovery of the Mega Evolution phenomena.
Between the ages of 3000 and 2000 before current day, many of the events take place that affect our world. These events included the rise of Eternatus in an event called the Darkest Day. The pokemon was eventually defeated by Zacian and Zamazenta before it could destroy the entire region as it tried to absorb the energy the region produced.
It was also around this time that Unova's Dragonspiral Tower was created and there was an increase in the number of stone buildings as Conkeldurr and its line taught humans to create concrete.
Records of meteor showers from Hoenn can also be found in the Hoenn region, with one of the meteors creating the Meteor Falls area of the region. As the world flowed with natural energy, Groudon and Kyogre awoke from the disturbances and absorbing the natural energy around them, reverted to their primal form. A battle between the two legendary pokemon ravaged the earth. It was only after Rayquaza intervened, that the two titans stopped fighting and returned to their caves, entering a deep slumber once again.
The people praised Rayquaza as their saviour as the pokemon returned to the ozone layer.
The earliest known system of writing was developed around 1,500 years ago. This system was used at the Ruins of Alph, Tanoby Ruins, and Solaceon Ruins. Archaeologists are currently unsure whether the nearly identical Unown preceded or succeeded the writing system, but it is assumed they share some sort of connection.
An ancient society called the Celestica people lived in the Sinnoh region. They worshiped Arceus and built many structures which can still be found as ruins in the region in modern times, such as Solaceon Ruins, Snowpoint Temple, and Spear Pillar. This society existed around 1500 years ago.
A thousand years after the events at Meteor Falls, a meteor struck Hoenn, creating Sootopolis City. Groudon and Kyogre reawakened to fight over the wellspring of primal energy which came from it. The people of Hoenn wished on Rayquaza to save them, and using the meteor, Rayquaza performed the world's first Mega Evolution and calmed the two. Sky Pillar was built in Rayquaza's honor, and it is said that the Draconid people promised to pass down a prophecy about another meteor shower that would occur, the date of which is still to be determined by researchers that have dedicated themselves to studying the Draconid language.
800 years ago, in Kalos, Xerneas released life energy throughout the Kalos region and fled to a forest, where it went to sleep in the form of a tree. Yveltal absorbed life energy throughout the Kalos region and fled to the mountains, where it went to sleep in the form of a cocoon.
About 500 years ago, the Sinnoh Ruins are built by two groups of people, from Sinnoh and Johto's Ruins of Alph. This site's architecture expresses a fusion of the two group's ideas and mythology.
A few decades later, the first Poké Balls are invented. Around this time, in Johto, Bell Tower and Brass Tower are constructed in Ecruteak City, and Lugia and Ho-Oh perch at their tops.
A few years after that, a Spiritomb is bound to a fissure in an Odd Keystone as punishment for misdeeds. At the same time, the Alolan guardian deities fought against Solgaleo and Lunala.
In Kalos, Magearna is created by a scientist who used the life energy of other Pokémon to create its Soul-Heart, and is presented to a king's daughter.
Around 400 years ago, Azalea Town in Johto is struck by long-term drought. After bringing the rain back once again by yawning, Slowpoke gains an honorable position in that town. In Galar around this time, Rolycoly is first discovered in a coal mine.
200 years ago, in Unova, Village Bridge is constructed by a man and his Gurdurr after the river flooded the area. The island that would become Liberty Garden is bought by an ultra-rich family and Victini is hidden in a backroom.
It was also around this time that the first quirk appeared and brought about the Age of Quirk, we go in depth about the Age of Quirks, covering the Dawn of Quirks, the Revolutionary War for Quirks and the Rise of the Modern Hero Society in the documentary Homo sapiens quirkeas.
The Brass Tower burnt to the ground around this time as well, the cause of the tower burning is yet to be determined, however, locals believe that it was because of natural disasters rather than a quirk accident or a man-made, artificial event. This also saw the death of three Pokémon that were inside the tower, and was the only recorded death from the incident. The incident caused Lugia to flee to the Whirl Islands while Ho-Oh resurrected the three as the Legendary beasts, Entei, Suicune and Raikou. It then proceeded to fly off in search of a pure-hearted Trainer.
About 100 years ago as the world saw entered the final stages of the Revolutionary War, new pokemon were discovered around the world. Pokemon like Roggenrola were formed at the fissures of earthquakes while Klinks began to appear in caves like the Chargestone Cave. Elgyems were also found in the desert areas of Hoenn for the first time, prompting researchers to look at outerspace as a possible location for more pokemon. Lunatones and Solrocks also started to appear in craters around Hoenn around this time as well.
Around 80 years ago, the world hero association and every countries individual hero association were created, creating the basis for today's hero society." A visual of the hero society appeared, showing the silhouettes of top heroes from across the world.
"Around 50 years ago, the World Pokemon Championships is held for the first time, marking the debut of many faces we know and love." Nezu continues as a visual of the World Pokemon Championship Stadium.
"Around this time, we also saw the debut of All Might as well as his rise to the number one spot as a hero and as a trainer. Though it would take him another 10 years for him to reach the position of World's Number 1 trainer." A visual of a buff man holding the Champion's trophy can be seen.
"The world of pokemon is a rather unique one, where anyone from anywhere in the world can train to be a hero, a pokemon trainer, or if you have the guts for it, maybe even both! The future is not set in stone, my advice to all our viewers, grab all opportunities that come your way, you never know what Arceus has set for you!" Nezu says as the images fade to reveal a small, mouse/rat/bear creature sitting on a chair. The documentary's credit starts to roll as we pan to see the kid, Izuku, sitting with stars in his eyes.
"Izuku! Dinner's ready! Has the documentary ended?" The kid's mother asks.
"I'm coming ma!" Izuku yells as he gets up and runs to his mother. "Mom, I'm going to be the world's best Pokemon Trainer and a hero!" He tells his mother.
"Oh really? Well, then I'll be with you, supporting you the entire time!" She tells him as they sit for dinner.
3 years later.
We see Izuku and his mother sitting at the doctor's office. The kid played with a Happiny as his mother spoke to the doctor in a different room.
"Ma'am, I have bad news for you." The doctor, a female around her mid-30s, tells the lady. "Izuku has shown no signs of developing a quirk and he's almost 9 now. I fear that he might never develop a quirk. I'm really sorry, but there's nothing I can do."
"A-Are you sure that the tests aren't faulty?" The woman asks him.
"Inko, I assure you, we've sent Izuku's blood samples and what not to three different labs across the city, all three of them came back with the same result." The woman answers as she pushes three envelopes towards the woman.
Inko just stares at the tests as she internalizes the results.
"Izuku might not be able to be a hero the way he wanted without a quirk, but he can still become a pokemon trainer or an underground hero if he likes." She tells Inko. "Would you like to tell him or would you like me to tell him about the diagnosis?"
"I-I don't think I will be able to break his heart like that…" Inko tells her.
"I'll… I'll take care of it then." The woman tells Inko as they both walk in. "Hello again Izuku."
"Hello Auntie!" Izuku greets her as the Happiny he was playing with jumped off his lap and ran off to it's owner.
"Izuku, there's something I want to talk you about." She tells him. Izuku looks at the woman curiously. "Izuku, we… we ran multiple tests for your blood samples and unfortunately… you don't have any quirk factors son." She breaks the news to him. Izuku could feel tears prickle his eyes. "Now I know that you are very smart so I wouldn't get discouraged if I were you." She continues, confusing the boy. "You still can become a great pokemon trainer. The best in fact, given your brains. And you can still become a hero. Have you heard of the hero Eraserhead?" Izuku shakes his head sideways. "Look him up, he is my son's idol and from what I've heard, he fights without a quirk. His quirk has to do with some form of ocular powers, at least that's what my son says."
"So… so I-I can still become a hero or a trainer right?" Izuku asks her, wiping the tears from her eyes.
"Yes, my boy, you can still pursue those careers." She tells him.
"Th-Thank you! Thank you so much Auntie!" Izuku says as he hugs the woman as he turns to his mother. "Mom you hear that! I can still become a hero! Or a trainer!" He exclaims as he hugs his mother.
"I know Izuku." Inko tells him, as she hugs him back. "You want to go home now?" Izuku simply nods.
"Before you go, I send my son for some combat training to this place, if you'd like, you can also send Izuku there. It'll be good for him, even if he decides not to become a hero, the self-defence will help him as an adult." The doctor tells Inko, handing the woman a small card. "And if you do end up sending Izuku here, let me know, I'll tell Hitoshi. The boy needs some friends anyway." She continues.
"Thank you so much Mihoko." Inko thanks her. "For everything."
"You're an old patient and Izuku's always fun to talk to." Mihoko tells her as Inko leaves the woman alone. Inko pays the fees on her way out and leaves with a slightly less disappointed Izuku, heading home so both of them could rest for the day.
