Chapter 14
Sometime later...
Starla woke up and rubbed her eyes before realizing what the day was. She gasped happily before quickly running downstairs to Isabella's room, heading in and seeing her little sister wake up. "Wake up, birthday girl!" She cheered, scooping her sister out of bed and playfully spinning her around.
Isabella squealed in surprise, giggling up a storm. "It's Mono's birthday too!" She said happily.
"Let's go wake him up," Starla said as they headed for their brother's room.
Mono groaned as he heard them come in. "Mono! Wake up, bro!" Isabella said happily, jumping on the bed. Starla gently tugged the covers, but Mono had a tight grip on them.
"Come on, Mono. It's your birthday today," the cyborg fairy said with a smile.
Tom came in and smiled. "Allow me, my daughters," he said.
Isabella and Starla moved back and Tom used his magic on the bed, making it jump around and the blankets flew away, leaving the boy in his pajamas and trying to stay in bed, but the bed bounced him right into his father's arms. His sisters giggled at the stink eye Mono gave their father. "Dad," he groaned.
"Sorry, son, but today is a special day," Tom said, tickling his son's stomach and making the boy laugh and try to escape.
Starla flew out of the room and she and Isabella met up with Amy and Dylan. "It's birthday day!" Amy said excitedly.
"Alright!" Dylan cheered.
What made the day more special was it was all their birthdays. Susan had told them that Dylan and Amy were both born on the same day in different years and when she and Tom did some more research, they found out that Isabella and Mono were born on the same day too as the other two. When Starla looked into when her birthday was, she was stunned to find her birthday was the same day as her siblings.
Tom said that was quite something and Susan promised that she would back each of them a cake. The siblings at first protested and said they were fine with one cake to share since they didn't want their mom to do so much work, but Susan insisted, especially since Starla, Isabella, and Mono had never had birthday cakes before, the former because her birth mother never cared to celebrate her birthday and the latter two due to being orphans a year prior.
It had taken a lot to convince Starla to find out her birthday because she had never told Susan and Tom before when they had first found her, but the cyborg fairy felt like they deserved to know now that the two were her parents. Plus...she had seen Susan and Tom put together a birthday party for her siblings and she had wondered what that would be like, but she had been afraid to ask after the betrayal she had endured.
But after Susan revealed she would have a big surprise for them on their birthday, the kids were excited. And now, as Tom came out into the hallway with Mono in his arms, they all headed to the kitchen, pausing as they took in the scene before them.
The kitchen and living room looked like a giant board game and in the center of the board was a table with five birthday cakes on it. They all had number candles, one saying 18, two saying 10, one saying 12, and one saying 9. The cakes were decorated individually too.
Starla's cake was a depiction of a forest with flowers. Isabella's cake was a depiction of a unicorn. Mono's cake depicted a pirate ship, which he was excited about. Dylan's cake had a music theme as the boy was learning how to play a few instruments, and Amy's cake had a bunny theme, which delighted her.
"Good morning and happy birthday, my children," said Susan, smiling as she stepped onto the game board. "Jump to the color squares you have been given to get to your cakes. Are you ready?"
The five of them nodded and Susan handed them cards to indicate their colors to jump on. "And...go!" The witch said with a smile.
Amy jumped to her first color, which was red and then jumped to yellow. Dylan managed to jump to a green square and was looking for orange next. Isabella jumped to a pink square before looking for a white square. Mono jumped from a blue square to a gold square, and Starla jumped to a silver square first before jumping to a purple square.
The game was fun and the five siblings giggled as they nearly crashed into each other a few times. Starla caught her siblings a couple of times before they fell over and when it was nearly time for them to jump to their last squares, the siblings seemed to come to a conclusion and paused.
"Go Amy!" Isabella cheered.
"You got this!" Dylan said.
Amy jumped to her final yellow square and tapped the chair in front of her cake. She then turned to the others. "Come on, guys!" She said with a smile.
"You go next, Mono," Isabella said.
Mono jumped to his final blue square and tapped the chair in front of his cake. Isabella followed soon after, jumping to her final pink square and joining the other two.
"You next, Dylan," Starla said.
The boy jumped to his final orange square and finally, Starla jumped to her final purple square and stood with her siblings. Susan smiled at this and Tom brought out the party cannons, which burst and made the siblings jump, but then laugh before Susan told them they could dig into the cakes after breakfast, which she served right then and they all ate waffles and pancakes with fresh fruit. "How do my children feel being a year older?" She asked, smiling.
"It feels awesome, Mom," Isabella said.
"Now I see why Amy and Dylan loved having a birthday celebration so much," Starla said.
"Cause it's fun!" Amy said, giggling.
"It's so cool that we all have the same birthday," Dylan said.
"And that we can celebrate it," Mono said.
Tom pulled all five of his children into a hug. "I'm so proud to be your father," he said to them.
"And we're lucky to have such an awesome mom and dad," Starla said. Her siblings nodded in agreement.
Later that day, Starla was flying around in the sky, allowing her siblings to join her one at a time. She was currently flying around with Isabella on her back and the child was laughing in glee. "This is totally awesome!" She said.
The cyborg fairy smiled. "Would you have imagined that a year ago, you'd find our parents and gain more siblings?" She asked.
"Honestly, no," Isabella said. "But I'm glad I hid in the apple basket."
Starla laughed in amusement as the ents, who had come to see them all, laughed too in amusement. "I know the feeling," the cyborg fairy said. "I'm glad I landed in the forest all that time ago too. I never would have dreamed I'd find the best family ever."
She landed on the ground and the five siblings were swept into a big hug by their parents. "Our little ones," Tom said, smiling.
"Even when you all are grown up, your dad and I will always be there for you," Susan said.
Isabella smiled as she thought about where she had come from. To think she had started off as a child with a number for a name and now, she, Mono, and Starla, along with Dylan and Amy had the best thing of all.
A protective family to hold them tight.
