Furrball was reading a book about toon cats in his apartment room, when he felt his phone vibrate. He checked his phone to see that his adoptive mother, Penelope Pussycat, sent him a text.
"When you have the time, come to my house." The text read. "I have something I'd like to show you."
Furrball walked to Penelope's house, where she greeted him at the door.
"Furrball!" She happily called, with her arms out for a hug.
Furrball rushed to Penelope and leapt into her arms. Penelope carried Furrball into the living room and sat him on the sofa next to her.
"I was going through some books and found this." She said, presenting a photo book. "It's full of my childhood memories."
She opened the book to the day she was born.
"Wow." Said Furrball. "I've never seen your birth parents."
"Now you have." Penelope replied.
She turned the page, and the next picture surprised Furrball.
"Wait, is that Pepe?" He asked. "You went to daycare with Penelope."
"Yeah, surprising isn't it?" Penelope replied. "I guess me and him are closer than either of us knew. I'll show him this picture later."
In the next picture, Penelope was starting first grade.
"Yep." She said. "I used to wear braces and glasses. But I got my eye test when I was seven and my braces removed when I was eight."
In the next picture, Penelope was at junior prom with Bugs as her date.
"Oh, something I forgot to bring up." She said. "Bugs and I used to date for a while until we broke up so I can start my relationship with Pepe. That's why I was the love interest in Carrotblanca."
"Looking at these photos reminds me of my parents." Furrball informed. "They disappeared shortly after I was born. At least, that's what I was told."
"My parents passed away three weeks after me and Pepe got married." Penelope confided.
They both looked at each other and smiled.
"At least I have you." They both said in unison.
They both shared a hug. Outside the house was a mysterious figure who chuckled.
"If only they both knew the truth." Said the figure.
