Jay curled up against Kai, or "curled up" as much as he could, granted, it was an awful position considering he was sitting in a chair and having half his body pretty much draped over his brother legs.

But that didn't stop him.

Granted Kai was still cold, so cold it even made Jay shiver as he tried so hard to not think about that again.

It would do him no good and he knew it most probably end up spiraling into another panic attack if he let his thoughts go there.

So, he cut them off right there.

It didn't help as much as he wanted.

He could feel his hands start shaking, again.

He tried the breathing exercises Master Wu had taught him, hoping they would work, the machines around him however made it difficult to concentrate, still he tried, if not for Him then for Kai.

Taking his hand he rested his cheek on his leg and slowly looked up.

Kai was connected to some machines, the oxygen mask a clear reminder that this mission had gone wrong, very very wrong.

But the doctors had said he was stable and despite how beaten up his usually lively brother looked Jay wanted to believe them.

No, he needed to believe it because otherwise he wouldn't know what to do.

The worst part is, he couldn't do anything, he was constantly tense, hands shaking and jumping at everything, more than usual, because all he could do was caress Kai hands and face (just don't look at the neck, don't look-) and wait.

There was no fixing this, he couldn't just sit down and fix his brother because he was not a machine.

He couldn't just fix him up.

That's probably the worst part.

All he could do was wait.

So he waited as he hold his hands, closing his eyes while hearing the breathing that signaled his brother was alive.

"Should I talk to him?"

"..."

"Can he even hear me?"

"..."

"What do you think?"

":..."

"...I think I'll talk to him"

Cole felt frozen in place, not literally, of course not, he could move just fine.

But he... He couldn't bring himself to see Kai.

He just couldn't bear the thought of seeing him so... Lifeless.

Which under other mentality it would be kind of funny considering he wathhing him pretty much die.

He bled out not only in front of him but on his arms while everyone around panicked trying to figure out how to make it stop.

Having to stick your fingers on yours brother bleeding open neck and praying he didn't choke on it wasn't one thing he wished to everyone.

And the truth was Cole hadn't been able to get the imagery out of his mind.

So, he had decided not to enter to see Kai... Yet.

No, he was waiting, for what? He wasn't sure, he just knew he couldn't enter at the moment.

He would of course, he just needed to prepare himself mentally.

Sighing again he rested his head against the wall, he would never get used to be in an hospital, to accompany the people you love wearing out slowly.

Maybe that's why he couldn't enter.

He was scared that he would find Kai in a worse condition than when he entered.

What if despite everything his life just slept through their fingers?

What if he watched Kai slowly die no matter what they or the doctors do.

Another life lost and for what?

He couldn't bear to see his brother wither away just as he saw his mom do it.

He just couldn't.

But then..then what?

Would he wait here until either Kai wakes up or dies?

That's just not fair, not at all.

He couldn't just do that to his brother.

So once he heard the door of Kai's room open he breathed in, hold the armrest a hit tighter and got up.

"I... I don't even know how to start"

"..."

"I mean, how can I even do this?"

"..."

"Is this even reaching you?"

"..."

"I hope it is, you know we miss you... right?"

"..."

"Everyone's been a mess sinc ethe incident... we haven't even been able to caught who did this to you"

":.."

"I'm sorry"

Zane rubbed his hands together.

Why? He wasn't sure but the feeling was quite soothing.

He found himself lost on his thoughts... Kind of.

If he was being honest he was trying to distract himself, just for a bit.

These past few hours he had been calculating and recalculating the probability of Kai making it out and the probability of him, well... you know, dying.

It has been a constant cycle he hadn't been able to actually break, maybe because he didn't have a lot to do.

Is not like there wasn't anything to do, the... Villain that did this to his brother was still out there, it's just that there wasn't anything to do at the hospital itself.

He had been waiting for his turn to enter Kai's room, of course, no one would've thought otherwise.

Jay had come out not long ago, silent and quite shaken, Zane worriedly wondered if Kai was okay ( Logically he knew if there was something wrong a nurse or doctor would've come running by now) but Cole had enter and nothing else has happened.

So he could only assume Kai was fine... Stable would be the better word because the fire elemental was absolutely not okay.

His lightning brother had slumped back besides him, but after some gentle coaxing he had moved to the cafeteria to get something to eat.

Zane stayed in his place, trusting Jay to actually eat something but he will probably double check when he comes back.

He made a mental note to check on Cole too as he was sure he hadn't eat anything either.

For now he waited, he was usually patient but now? He just wished to be besides his brother, he hadn't bee able to protect him from nearly death, the least he could do was stay besides him.

Closing his eyes he trying to even his breath and somehow convince himself Kai was going to be fine.

"The medics say your brain might've been in danger because of... Well... Uh... You know.. The blood loss"

"..."

"I mean... Yeah I guess so? Zane did his best to stabilize you but you're still in danger"

"..."

There's a sigh.

"I might've too naive but... I think you can do it... We've been through worse (Okay... maybe not)... I believe in you Kai"

Nya yawned, not being able to sleep properly these past nights, not even when Jay had joined, she was tired.

So so tired.

Carefully she caressed her brother's face.

It was a light touch but it was better than nothing.

This sucks.

Her brother had almost been killed and she hadn't been able to do anything, hell, he could've died and she wasn't even in the same room as he was.

She felt... Powerless.

How could she not?

Her job was to be there for her brother, that's what siblings don't they?

Protecting each other?

Well, so much for protecting each other.

Defeated, she rested her head as close to his chest as she could, hearing his breathing.

This time she didn't even bother to wipe the tears that rolled down her face.

"We've been trying to figure out where he is"

"..."

"So far we haven't find anything, which is weird because they, tehcnically won?"

"..."

"I mean we're kind of incapacitated at the moment as you know. ...That probably didn't help, apologies"

"..."

"But is strange they haven't made the next movement seeing it had been quite long since our last encounter"

"..."

"... We haven't been able to track him down"

"..."

"But we will find him, he's not getting away with what he did to you, don't worry"

Jay had been feeling especially anxious these past days.

He had been feeling electricity running through his veins more usual than no, which makes him even more anxious.

He had been avoiding touching Kai.

He's worried he will set up something off with his power.

It's been a few weeks. Almost a month.

Jay has to admit they have kind of fall on a rhythm.

One or two onto check on Kai while the others deal with everything else.

It's been... Going.

Everyone bussies themselves with anything, not speaking a lot, especially

He also has noticed only Nya and Lloyd had been wearing red.

He... Has not as bad of a reaction as the color now, but it still makes him feel nauseous.

If anything he had been trying to find the... Ahem... Motherfucler that did this to his

Idly he wondered if Kai could even hear them, would speak help if he did?

"So... Gimme a second... I'm trying to put this into words, don't freak out okay?"

"..."

"Okay, listen, uh..."

"..."

"We, uh... kinda fucked up?"

"..."

"I know is not that weird coming from us but like, I think news got out somehow"

"..."

"Yeah yeah, it has been... difficult"

"..."

"We're faring well though so don't worry! Just focus on getting better alright?"

"..."

"... Just, focus on getting better, please"

Lloyd had come to bargain today.

To who? To whoever to will listen to his pleas.

He had settled in a moreless numbing routine.

Is just, everything he did felt as if he did it automatically.

As if he were on autopilot.

Kai had stabilized but he was still in a come.

His body had been healing significantly and don't get Lloyd wrong, that's amazing, but he missed his brother.

The person breathing and resting on the bed wasn't his brother.

It was just... Someone that barely existed at the moment.

His brother was quite loud, might have angry issues every now and then and was self-centered but he was also one of the most selfless persons Lloyd had ever met.

If only he could wake up...

For the first time in a long time Lloyd closed his eyes as he rested his arms and head atop Kai's legs.

And begged the Spinjistu Master... His grandparent, to please give him his brother back.

To do it for his family.

Because technically, he was their family too.

"Dareth helped you know?"

"..."

"Did you know he was dating Gayle Gossip?" A laugh "Yeah us neither, but we're grateful things have calmed down"

":.."

"... It's been getting colder recently, the monastery been freezing so, well, we've been cuddling"

"..."

"Us... We... I... I miss you, not because you're our walking heather, you know you're more than that, right?"

"..."

"... Is so cold without you..."

Kai swore he had been hearing voices these... Past days? ...Weeks?... Months?!

Please tell him it hadn't been years.

He isn't sure how long it's been if he's being honest.

He just knows he knows these voices.

He can't point exactly who they are or what is their relation to him, but he's aware they're important.

And they're... Soothing, they're warm and make him feel fuzzy inside.

So, he listens for a while.

He doesn't know for how long, but it must've been a long time, or so it feels like.

Because one day there's something inside him, pulling.

The fire elemental has no idea what it is but he's sure of one thing.

He has to follow the pull.

So, he does.

"Hey Kai"

Ah, someone is here... well, someone is out there.

Where is there though? And where is here?

He's not sure.

"I brought you a new brush, I know I'm not that good at combing your messy hair, but you would hate more if I just let it be so-"

But someone is close, and he just knows he can't stay here any longer.

Vaguely there's a nagging on the back of his mind.

As if it were trying to tell him something.

He.. Kinda knows what it meant. Or so he thinks.

Okay let's do this.

Whoever said waking up from a coma was peaceful was a fucking liar. At least in his case, apparently most people do indeed wake up slowly.

Meanwhile Kai's body basically jumped when he opened his eyes.

The beeping around him making it not helping his current confusion and dizziness. Everything is horribly bright.

Where is he?

He stares blankly at the wall. He heards an animated voice besides him but is complicated to just turn around.

So Kai stays there, vaguely aware that there's someone making a fuss.

Who and Why? He can't tell but there's more movement.

The Fire elemental can't make sense of anything, he's not even sure where he is or why people seem happy about... something?

All of this is so weird.

He can't wrap his head around anything about this, his brain feel foggy.

However there's a single thought on his head that keeps circling.

What the hell happened?
