Cornered
Prompt from labyfic livejournal: "Cornered and in an emergency, the solution is to kiss passionately."
Jareth's mouth was on mine, his fingers stroking my back as he pressed me into an alcove. I noted, with very little coherent thought, that this kiss was officially unholy in its knee-weakening powers.
I heard a leering catcall pass us by, with a mumble that might have been, "Cor, them faeries."
In the ensuing silence, Jareth broke away from me.
I stared, breathless, trying not to lick my lips. "The hell was that?"
"It always works in movies."
"This isn't a movie!"
"Details. We're in the midst of infiltrating the heart of the Winter Court, and goon-like guards were upon us. If it's not a movie, it's at least a sequence out of a fantasy novel. Therefore, my action was appropriate. Also, it worked."
I steamed silently, trying desperately to forget how my lips still tingled. "Fine. But it better not happen again."
His smile was positively wicked. "I can hardly predict when goon-like guards will next appear."
"Jareth. No. Condition one of me helping you on this insane adventure, remember?"
"Pity. I was rather hoping that was more a guideline."
I rolled my eyes, batting away the accompanying flutter of glamour from him. "Faerie men. Honestly. Can't keep their eye on the prize."
"All depends on your definition of prize."
"Yeah, well mine involves getting what we came for and escaping with my skin intact. How about you?"
"Similar. For now."
"Good, then." I stepped out from the alcove. "Shall we get on with it?"
"Do let's."
