13453. Ok, how did we miss Yamato replacing herself with a robot replica of herself?

13453a. Yuubari, did you build this? – ADM Goto

13453b. Not me. Though I do want to see how its built. – Yuubari

13453c. *Innocent whistling* - Akashi (Sakura Empire)

Musashi yawned as she walked out of the repair baths. Another day, another convoy. The war had been at a stalemate for so long that she didn't remember the last time a major battle was fought. Convoys were still needed since despite most of the Pacific being cleared, Abyssal raiders and subs were still around. The Japan-North America ones being one of the most important to Japan for both food and resources.

*Clang!*

"Itai!" Musashi rubbed her head. It didn't do any damage, but for some reason she felt like she collided with another ship. Must have hit a shipgirl. "Sorry about that. Are you o…."

Musashi stared at her older sister Yamato. Or at least who was supposed to be her older sister.

"Musashi, are you alright?" A robotic Yamato asked as she somehow conveyed concern without any facial expressions.

"… Who are you?" Musashi blurted out.

"I, Yamato must have hit you harder than I thought," Mecha Yamato mused.

"Not that. Why is my sister a full on robot!? I know we're technically a weird mix of ship and girl, but none of us are actually fully machine!" Musashi said.

"I, Yamato, do not understand. Are you feeling unwell sister?" Mecha Yamato asked.

Musashi sighed. "Let's take this to the admiral's office."

Admiral Goto stared. Ooyodo stared. Nagato who was in the office at the time stared.

Goto looked at his mug. It was a nice mug that someone sent the admirals of the world as a gag gift, but they kept nonetheless for its spot on message.

"Someone must have spiked the coffee," Goto said.

"No admiral," Ooyodo said, already wondering what this would mean for her thesis on the mental health of admirals since the introduction of shipgirls. "Your eyes are not deceiving you. There is in fact, a mecha version of Yamato standing in front of you."

"I assure you, I am indeed Yamato, name ship of the Yamato-class battleships," Mecha Yamato said.

Nagato massaged her forehead. "How long have you been on base?"

Mecha Yamato tilted her head. "I have been here since I reported in a week ago."

"A week…" Goto was already mentally preparing himself to update The List. "Are you telling me, we've had a mecha version of Yamato for a week and no one was any wiser to it?"

"Well, she acts and speaks like Yamato," Musashi said. "And I can see how people might not have noticed."

"What about Enterprise, or her kids?" Nagato asked.

"They are visiting the US, Yamato didn't manage to get any leave for it since she used up all her vacation days a few months ago," Goto said before groaning. "You don't think…"

The door opened and in walk Yamato, the real one. "I'm back! I, Yamato am reporting for duty!"

Taking in everyone in the admiral's office, Yamato noticed the mecha. "Oh, I see you've found out about my replacement. Though the holographic field generator must have malfunctioned."

"Hello, Prime," Mecha Yamato greeted. "I have followed your orders as specified."

"Yamato, explain," Goto ordered, already feeling the migraine coming.

"Yes sister, explain," Musashi said.

"Give me a moment." Yamato fiddled with a panel on Mecha Yamato's back. Suddenly, Mecha Yamato's body fizzled and there stood a second Yamato, without the robotic body. "I'll have to complain to the supplier for that."

"Yamato…" Goto wondered if it was possible to order an expedition to discover the legendary Fountain of Aspirin.

"Well, since I failed to get my leave approved, and I really wanted to visit the US with Enterprise and the kids, I commissioned this robotic replica to take my place for the week." Yamato explained. I even had a faerie pilot it for maximum realism.

"Desu!" a faerie popped out from Mecha Yamato's chest.

The admiral and three shipgirls wondered if Yamato was always this eccentric or marrying Enterprise was what caused this. Actually, was it the Japanese shipgirl who infected the American or the other way around?

"Well, that's another one for The List," Goto sighed. Ooyodo was already scribbling away for her next book. "Where did you commission her anyway?"

"Akashi-chan, the Sakura Empire neko one," Yamato answered.

"I'll schedule a meeting with their admiral," Nagato said. "Also, keep it somewhere Yuubari can't get to."

"Actually, I have a question," Musashi said. "Does anyone else know about this? How many shipgirls have replaced themselves with robotic stand ins?"

The others paled. Yes, this was definitely another one for The List.
