Chapter 12: Beach Wisdom

Happy April Fools Day and the following chapter is a little foolish tale! Stone Kole has a problem so he asks for some advice and sometimes wisdom can come from a very unlikely source.

This chapter's song is Please Forgive Me by David Gray.

The lanky yak sat in a lotus position on the beach and chanted "om…oomm…ooommm," as he tried to meditate. Having to wear swim trunks was uncomfortable and they chaffed between his legs but he couldn't go naked outside of where he worked. The salty breeze from the ocean ruffled his dirty brown fur, causing a swarm of flies to buzz around his head. His chanting was interrupted when someone plopped into the sand before him.

"I was hoping…well, are you a holy wise mammal?" the stranger asked.

"For sure, Little Dude, I'm wiser than some but the only holes..." the yak began to joke as he pulled back the strands of fur and brushed away some flies so he could see who he was talking to, it was a young adult fennec fox in a pair of blue and gray swim shorts.

"I argued with my girlfriend, Karen, because I told her she was wrong about something and now she won't talk to me. I'm hoping you might advise me on what to do," the small fox impatiently interrupted.

The yak mused about the young fox's dilemma before proclaiming, "All is fair in love and war."

"War, what war? What does that have to do with my girlfriend?"

"It's totally like actions speak louder than words."

"So are you saying I should get her flowers or something?"

"Dude, everything happens for a reason."

"Wait! Are you saying that we fought so we can make up?"

"It is better to be happy than to be right."

"Brah, that's brilliant! I should take her to a war movie, buy her some flowers, tell her that we only argued so we could make up, and then let her get her way, even though she is wrong, because if she is happy then I'm happy. Thanks!" the small fox excitedly exclaimed.

Yax looked confused while he watched the fennec fox race away down the beach. "I told Nangi that memorizing all those sayings from my fortune cookies would one day come in handy," he finally said to himself before he closed his eyes and began to once again contently chant.
