I was...I don't know where I was but it wasn't Auradon, or Motunui. I was in a dark and dreary place where the sun didn't seem to shine. The clouds seemed to cover the sky. I was walking down a dark alleyway. I was following someone, I don't know who it was. Suddenly, a girl with dark skin, long, braided teal hair and dark eyes poked her head around a corner, causing me to pause. "Come on slowpoke." She called.
"Who are you?" I asked, my hand reaching up to clasp my necklace. The girl frowned, stepping around the corner. We seemed to be the same height, and she was dressed in teal pirate atire, a cutlass strapped to her side.
"Come on, Malie, I get that it's been a while since we saw each other but you've known me for ages."
"I don't know who you are." I stressed. I squeezed my hand around my pendant, the sharp edge digging into my palm.
"No Powers on the Isle, remember?" My eyes widened, and a pounding echoed through the empty alley.
"Malie!" A familiar voice called through my room. I yelped, tumbling off my bed and landing face first on the floor. I groaned, my nose pressed hard into the carpet. "Malie, did you fall off the bed again?"
"No…?" I called.
"You did." My door opened as I sat up, rubbing my nose as I turned to it. Audrey stood in the middle of my room, arms crossed. "Your a Demigoddess and even Jane has more poise than you." I stood up properly, stretching out.
"Yeah, well, Jane didn't only just start to live on land less than a month ago." I retorted.
"You need to get ready." Audrey stated, "Those...Villain Kids are coming today." Audrey hunched slightly, "And you have to come greet them."
"Me?" I laughed, moving over to my vanity and picking up my necklace, slipping it on. It was a simple leather string with a single pendant, a small Fish Hook that rested on my sternum. "No way."
"Uh, yes way. I'm not meeting them on my own."
"You have Ben!"
"He's gonna be talking to them, he's the Prince."
"And I'm a Demigoddess, you said so yourself." I turned to Audrey, "I am not-" I cut myself off when I saw the look Audrey was giving me. "No, not the Puppy Dog eyes." Audrey didn't let up. When I could tell she wasn't going to stop, I groaned, "Fine! I'll come with you." Audrey's face lit up, "But, you have to make and eat Manapua with me."
"Fine." Audrey groaned. I smirked victoriously, "Be ready in an hour."
"Yeah yeah." I sighed as Audrey turned on her heel and walked out of my room, closing the door behind her. After Audrey had left, I changed out of my pyjamas and into a more appropriate first meeting outfit. I pulled on a tight, sea blue crop top, denim shorts held up by emerald green suspenders. I pulled on brown, heeled ankle boots and pulled a hair through my wavy black hair, tying a scarf around my head, under my hair and letting the not rest on my forehead. After I made sure I was right, I turned off the light to my room and left, locking the door behind me.
Waving to everyone in the halls, I made my way to the entrance of the school where Ben, Audrey, Fairy Godmother and the Marching Band were waiting. I shoved my thumbs into my front pockets as we waited. My eyes scanned the road, and as soon as a black limo could be seen, the Band started to play. I smiled as the limo came to a stop in front of us. My smile fell when two boys tumbled out of the car, each tugging on the end of a posh scarf. One was significantly smaller than the other, with black and white hair wearing red and black. Cruella's son no doubt. The other had long hair covered by a beanie and was wearing yellow and red.
"You got everything else, why do you want whatever-this-is!" The white-haired boy screeched as the band came to an abrupt stop,
"Because you want it!" The long-haired boy replied, still pulling. As we approached the limo, two girls then exited the limo. One had blue hair, and held herself like a princess, I could only assume she was the daughter of the Evil Queen. The other had short purple hair and dressed in purple and green leather.
"Guys, guys, we have an audience!" She said through gritted teeth. The larger boy spit out a candy he was holding in his teeth.
"Just cleaning up!" He said, looking at the people as he pulled the other to his feet,
"Leave it like you found it~!" Fairy Godmother sang, "And by that I mean just leave it." She said seriously. The larger boy grabbed everything from the limo and threw it back in. He then noticed Audrey and me. He approached us with a playful smirk.
"Hello foxy ladies." He said flirtatiously, "The name's, Jay." Audrey laughed for a second then stopped.
"You're not my type dude." I stated, "But, good try."
"Welcome to Auradon prep." Fairy Godmother said, putting her head between us, "I'm Fairy Godmother, headmistress." She gave a little curtsy as the boy stepped back.
"The Fairy Godmother!" The purple-haired girl said, surprised, "As in, Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo?" She asked, waving her hand around like she was waving a wand.
"Bibbidi-Bobbidi-you-know-it." She said with a smile.
"Yeah you know, I've always wondered what it felt like for Cinderella when you just appeared, out of nowhere with the sparkly wand, and warm smile. And that sparkly wand!"
"That was a long time ago, and as I always say, don't focus on the past or you'll miss the future!" Fairy Godmother waved her hands in front of her face to indicate magic. Ben, Audrey and I stepped forward.
"It's so good to finally meet you all." Ben said with a smile, "I'm Ben-"
"Prince Benjamin." Audrey interrupted, "Soon to be king."
"You had me at 'Prince'" The blue-haired girl sighed, "My mum's a Queen, which makes me a Princess." She stepped up and curtsied.
"The Evil Queen has no royal status here." Audrey said, "And neither do you." The girl stood up straight and glared daggers at her, stepping backwards.
"This is Audrey." Ben said awkwardly, gesturing to the pink-clad girl beside him.
"Princess Audrey." She corrected, "His girlfriend." Audrey grabbed his hand possessively, tucked her chin and gave a smile. "Right Bennyboo?" Ben gave a short laugh.
"As that two stare lovingly into each other's eyes, I'll guess I'll speak." I laughed, turning to the VK's, "Aloha nui wau, ʻo Malie, hoʻokipa ʻia Auradon."
"What the hell was that?" The purple-haired girl muttered.
"Oh, that was Hawaiian. I'm just said welcome to Auradon. I'm Malie."
"Ben, Audrey and Malie are going to show you all around, and I'll see you all tomorrow." Fairy Godmother said, clasping Ben and Audrey's hands, "The doors of wisdom are never shut!" She threw open Ben and Audrey's hands. "But the library hours are from eight to eleven and I have a little thing about curfews." She explained, then she left with the band in toe.
"Ok, before the tour, can you tell us all your names, I just need to know what to call you." I said.
"Jay." The long-haired boy said.
"Carlos." The scrawny one added.
"Evie." The blue-haired girl introduced.
"I'm Mal." The purple hair girl finalised.
"It is so so-" Ben started as he went to shake hands with Jay but he punched Ben in the arm, "Good to finally meet you all." He shook Mal's hand. The two seemed to stare at each other before Ben moved onto Carlos. I smirked, that was going somewhere, I could tell. I followed on the handshake line after Audrey. I smiled politely at the new students. I felt Jay's hand creep up near my neck, but I grabbed his wrist and squeezed, hard, hard enough to make him wince. I smiled at him.
"I would suggest not touching that." I warned him, "It was a gift from a Goddess, and you don't steal gifts from Deities." After Jay, I shook hands with Mal, Carlos and then Evie as Ben continued his speech."This a momentous occasion, and one I hope will go down history. Chocolate?" Ben asked as he shook Carlos' hand, "As the day our two people's began to heal." He continued. Once we had shaken everyone's hand, we stepped back.
"Or the day you showed four people where the bathrooms are!" Mal said, imitating his tone,
"A little bit over the top?"
"A little more than a little."
"Well, so much for my first impression." The two locked eyes before looking away again. I hid a smile.
"Hey, you're Maleficent's daughter, aren't you?" Audrey asked, looking at Mal, who rolled her eyes, "You know what I totally don't blame your Mother trying to kill my parents and stuff."I rolled my eyes. "Oh, my mum's Aurora. Sleeping-"
"Beauty." Mal interjected, "Yeah I've heard the name. And I totally do not blame your grandparents inviting everyone in the whole world except my mother, to their stupid christening."
"Water under the bridge!"
"Totes!" Mal plastered on a giant fake smile. They both laughed and dropped out at the same time.
"Ok! So how 'bout a tour?" Ben asked, trying to divert the conversation. Audrey linked her arm with Ben's as he turned. "Auradon prep was originally built over three hundred years ago and was converted into a high school by my father when he became King." He explained as we approached a statue of King Beast. Ben clapped his hands twice and the statue started to change shape until it was a beast. Carlos yelped and jumped into Jay's arms. Ben looked over at him, "Carlos, It's ok, my father wanted his statue to morph from beast to man, to show that anything is possible." I turned and walked backwards as we made our way into the entryway of the school,
"For the record, I can do better." I told them.
"So do you have magic, here in Auradon?" Mal asked, "Like wands and things like that?"
"Yeah, it exists, but it's pretty much retired." Ben explained, "All of us here are just ordinary mortals."
"Not all of us." I scoffed, crossing my arms.
"Who happen to be Kings and Queens." Mal rolled her eyes as she spoke, ignoring my comment.
"That's true!" Audrey piped up as she moved Ben's arm to wrap around her shoulder, "Our royal blood goes back hundreds of years!" She bragged. Ben gave an awkward chuckle and looked as if he wanted to get his arm off Audrey,
"Doug! Doug come down here!" Ben called, moving over towards the boy with glasses. Ben wrapped his arm around Doug's shoulders, "Guys, this is Doug, he, along with Malie, will show you around and help with your schedule." Ben walked back over to us, "I'll see you later ok?" He said, looking mostly at Mal, "And if you need anything, feel free to-"
"Ask Doug!" Audrey interrupted. Mal and Audrey shared another exaggerated laugh before Audrey took hold of Ben's hand and lead (read dragged) him away.
"Hey guys, I'm Dopey's son." Doug introduced, "As in Dopey, Doc, Bashful, Happy, Grumpy, Sleepy and…" He trailed off after seeing Evie, "Hi-ho." Evie sashayed over to him,
"Evie, Evil Queen's daughter." She said flirtatiously, Doug snapped out of his daze,
"So yeah, about your classes I put in the requirements already." Mal stepped behind him and looked over his shoulder, "History of Woodsman and Pirates, Safety Rules for the Internet and," He cleared his throat, glancing at the pruple haired girl. "Remedial Goodness 101." He said sheepishly,
"Let me guess." Mal started, popping a candy into her mouth, "New class?" Doug nodded his head. "Come on guys, let's go find our dorms." Mal stated. The four of them started up the nearest staircase.
"Uh, your dorms are that way guys." Doug pointed to the staircase on the other side.
"Come on girls, I'll show you our wing." I said. I lead Mal and Evie to our rooms in the Prep. I opened the door for them and let them walk in. Their room was just the basics, practically exactly how mine was when I first arrived. It was pink. There were two pink beds, two white dressers, photos of princesses who, I am assuming, had lived in this dorm previously, there was one desk and a table in the middle.
"This place is so amaz-" Evie started to say before Mal cut her off,
"Gross." She said.
"I know right, amazingly gross ew." Evie corrected.
"I am going to need some serious sunscreen." Mal said, "E." Mal pointed to one of the windows. Evie scurried to pull one of the curtains closed while Mal did the other. "Phew, that is much better." Mal stated, turning around. She then saw me leaning on the doorframe and her eyes narrowed, "What do you want?"
"I just wanna let you guys know that I'm here for you." I said, "I know what it feels like to be judged by what your parents have done."
"How would you know?" Evie asked, "You're the child of a Hero."
"Eh, dad wasn't so much a hero when he was younger." I looked down, "My Dad stole something really important to someone, and inadvertently doomed our people." I looked back up at them, "Everyone thinks I'm gonna do the same thing. So, if you need anyone to talk to, I'm just three doors down the hall." I pointed down the hall. I smiled at the two, closing the door as I left.
