One day, after the Tourney game, Doug, Evie and I had a science exam. I had to reluctantly hand over my necklace to Mr Deley because the rule was 'No Magical Items'. I understood, but was still angry. Evie had practically barged into my dorm room that morning and chose my outfit. I said we were friends, I guess this was just what it entailed. She made me dress in a dark blue, knee-length dress with thick, lacy shoulder straps, emerald heels and a long, emerald cardigan to go on top that reached my ankles. After she left I put in my hair scarf and, despite a little huff when she saw me there were no complaints. We all settled into our exam and got to work. Just as we started, Evie was rummaging through her bag. "Looking for something?" Mr Deley asked, causing me to lift my head as Evie snapped her bag closed, looking up as well. Mr Deley pulled out a small mirror from his pocket. Doug and I shared a confused look, "Thank you, Chad, it's gratifying to see someone still respects the honour code." Evie gave Chad a harsh, harsh glare, to which he just smugly smiled back. "It would be my recommendation that you are expelled."

"Mister Deley, I-" Evie started.

"But that isn't fair!" Doug interrupted, scrambling to his feet, "Obviously she wasn't cheating since she didn't have that...whatever-it-is."

"It's called a Magic-" I slapped Evie's arm.

"Quiet!" I hissed at her, "Not. Helping."

"Maybe she needed another pencil." Doug suggested.

"Actually, I was-" Evie started again, prompting me to slap my hand over her mouth, holding the back of her head with my other hand. Evie looked over at me with wide eyes.

"Evie, I love you, but please be quiet." I muttered to her. "Now, if I let go of your mouth will you stop talking?" Evie paused for a second before nodding. I let my hands fall from her head.

"Please." Doug pleaded.

"Please…?" Evie echoed.

"Well, if you can pass this test, I'll return your property and let the matter drop." Mr Deley conceded. After all the drama, we finally managed to properly start the test.

After the test, and after Mr Deley returned my Necklace, Doug and I were sitting on an outside bench discussing our test results. Doug, the genius he is, A+ with no effort, and I managed to scrape a B-. Ha! Take that! As we were talking, I didn't notice Evie appear behind Doug until the exam booklet was slipped in front of us. "For the first time, it's like I'm more than just a pretty face." Evie admitted.

"Shocker, huh?" Doug commented. Evie slid into the spot next to Doug, setting her test down. I took it, spinning it around to read that little miss princess here got a B+.

"Go Evie." I congratulated, sliding the test over to her.

"Thanks." Evie said with a happy smile before turning to Doug, "You were pretty great in there."

"So were you." Doug replied.

"I bet, I can get an A on the next test without the Mirror."

"Ok, if you manage to do that, we need to celebrate." I declared.

"There you are!" A voice shouted, causing my head to snap up to see Mal stalking towards the table. "I have been looking for you, literally everywhere!"

"What's wrong?" Evie asked. Mal slammed her hands down on the table.

"Ben just asked me out on a-" Mal huffed and looked around before looking back at us. "A date." she hissed.

"Nice..." Doug muttered.

"We can handle this." Evie promised.

"Oh, please tell me I can help." I begged, "I have always wanted to see what it's like to get ready for a date."

"Oh, Mal, can she?" Evie asked, turning to look at her purple-haired friend.

"Yes! Fine!" Evie grinned, taking her test and standing up. I did a little cheer as I slipped out of the bench. Evie and I flanked Mal as we started to walk away, the two of us walking backwards.

"Your looking a little pale."

"Yeah of course."

"I can fix that with some gloss and some blush!"

"No!"

"Mal, I can use the-" Mal cut her off,

"No, no, no!"

"Come on Mal!" I complained, turning around to walk properly and linking my arm with hers, "I don't know how dating works on the Isle but in Auradon, you need to look your best and that is what Evie and I are going to do!"

Soon, Evie had Mal sitting on her bed applying makeup. "Ok, easy on the blush." Mal said, pushing Evie's down slightly, "I don't want to scare him away. Not that I could."

"Please. My mum taught me how to apply blush before I could talk." Evie said, continuing her previous work on Mal's cheeks. "Always use upward strokes." She finished handed me the blush and its corresponding blush. I put them away in Evie's makeup case before handing her the lipstick.

"My mother never gave me makeup tips, and I never had a sister."

"Well, you've got Evie." I said, "And you've got me too, alright? Us girls gotta stick together."

"Are you afraid of your mum?" Mal asked Evie.

"Sometimes." Evie replied, "Are you afraid of your mum?" Mal paused.

"I just want her to be proud of me." She said, "She gets so angry with me when I disappoint her. And sh-yeah, she's my mum, so I know she loves me...in her own way. How about you, Malie? Any parent stories you wanna share?"

"Well...if you think about it, being the daughter of a Demigod is hard to live up to." I started to explain, "Everyone is expecting me to be this great hero, just like my father. Every time I return home they inspect my skin to see if a Tattoo has appeared." I looked down at my bare forearms. I clenched my fists, pressing them hard into my bare thighs. "That's one of the reasons I transferred to Auradon, to escape all the eyes, all the condescending and loathing looks I get as if I'm not worthy to be the daughter of Maui." There was a pause as the three of us mulled over what we each had said. Evie then pulled Mal from her seat and dragged her over to the mirror. Mal gave a short laugh, tugging the ends of her jacket.

"I know." Evie said, leaning her head on Mal's shoulder.

"I look…"

"Say it."

"Not hideous."

"Not even close." I stated. Evie gave Mal one last squeeze before leaving her to admire herself more. Then there was a knock at the door. Mal walked over to the door and opened it to reveal Ben. He had two helmets tucked underneath his arms. He stared at Mal for a couple of seconds before speaking,

"For the first time, I understand the difference between pretty and beautiful." Ben stated. I grinned as Mal let out a snort. "I hope you like bikes." Mal took a helmet from Ben and turned to Evie and me, giving us a look that said. 'Wish me luck'. Evie pranced forward and closed the door. When it was closed, Evie turned to me with a grin. We squealed, the two of us reaching out and grabbing each other's hands tight in happiness.
