A First Snow – Sealed With a Kiss – Part Two: Let it Snow In California; A Sudden Change of Heart
/
San Francisco didn't have snow. Jacklyn Stone frowned down at her laptop and bit her lip. California up north…. But Christmas was super sooner than that! No one was gonna buy her a ticket to go on a ski trip and it was…. too adult. She wasn't old enough to even –
Stop.
Jax looked up at the doorway. Her dad was there, again. He held onto a plate of what was her fav desert. Peanut butter blossom cookies. Mama had been busy, but her dad was the one with the apron this year.
"We had to go back out for more ingredients. Tell me they taste jus' like Gramma's." He picked up a cookie and placed it into Jackie's view. "Everything ok up here? You look, worried about somethin."
"I am, but you wouldn –
"I'm made to last, baby girl." Cy waved off the counter argument. He was not leaving until she spilled the proverbial beans.
"Just, try a cookie an we can talk about it."
/
Jackie nibbled on the sweetness as she tried to think. How do you tell your dad that you're having trouble expressing your emotions in a same sex relationship?
She blushed and munched on the treat as he handed her a glass of milk to wash it down. "Better?"
"Yeah." She took the drink and downed it in a few gulps less than last year. "I can tell you, but you'd better not blab to Mama or…I'm too embarrassed…"
"Hey, hey…. it's ok. Just talk to me." He pointed to his face, soon noting that she looked ready to cry a few tears out. "Pretend I'm Am –
"NO! –
Jax pushed him away and stood up. "Never mind. I need to go to sleep. I'll try ya in the morning…. Sorry No time tonight…" Rubbing her arms, she still wanted to know if Ami was too open while her heart was unsure of what it wanted. What Ami wanted was snow in Jackie's mind. If she could make it snow, just somehow…
"Ok. But you'd better not let your mama find out before me. She's a lot nosier than I can be, an' I won't tell. Promise. I just want to be sure you're doing what's best for you, baby girl…" He shuffled from the room and left the plat with one extra cookie on it, just for her. She sniffled and went straight to bed. The thought of letting Ami think she was pushing her away…it wasn't alright. Not unless she said it could be. And it would.

Getting up at the crack of dawn, Jacklyn made a plan. A plan that was sure to have that one wish of her girl friend's coming true by the twenty fifth of December.
She skipped off on her bike to the nearest hardware store. A snow machine, or she'd get some useful advice from the owner. Her dad would ask to be a part….it was too annoying. SHE had to do this. It was, an awkward proclamation. Jax's felt her heart pound as she parked her bike and entered to store, searching the tall shelves for the unit and its price tag. She was going to make one herself if she had to. It was, just for her research. Yeah. That's right.
Jackie walked up to a service desk and rung the bell twice with a slap of her palm. "Y'ello?" Anybody here who can help me?" She was a minor, so a purchase like this would be a bit no, yet that didn't mean she couldn't try a bit harder to start from scratch with her initial understanding of the device she sought out.
A Santa look – alike with white hair and a blue work apron, a bit heavy but not overwhelmingly so came round to see to this frowning teenager in the store. "Yes? Can I help you today, ehem……aren't you a bit young to –
"My dad is a mechanic. He knows the owner. Fred? I gotta talk to him." She blurted out to the store associate. "Please, it's for my friend and she –
"Ok, right. Lemme see….Ah. Sorry, he's out till the next week. Vacation. Or, family crisis or somethin." The man's calendar from behind proved it. "Shoot." Jackie refrained from wanting to curse in public.
Jacklyn's eyes fell onto the desk. Her stare was despondent; her hope all but shattered, yet she could not give in. Not for Ami, or Fred's family….
"Um…" Jackie shrugs off her previous mask and turns her brown eyes up to the sales person. " Then, can you maybe help me? I'm trying to give my ….friend a gift for the holidays, but I need ta know about…Snow machines…" She said the last part rather quietly in a mutter, as the older male raised a brow and didn't hear the whole request. " Did you say, sow?" He asked, unsure. " No, …um….Snow." Jackie said again, a bit clearer this time. " I want to make it snow for my friend this holiday."
/
The male might have gawked, but instead he snickered as if he had all the answers already. " Missy, it's eighty degrees this entire month and won't even drop a flake if you'd troed to go against mother nature. I don't know if this is a joke –
"It's not!" Jackie flushed slightly crimson at the poo – pooing nature of this man's words. " I'm really trying to make it snow, and I know it won't stick or…even evaporate but –
"Go to a party store and ask somebody. Y – Tubie. I donnow." He shook his head. " Unless you go up north into the Rockies this week, you're not gonna get a wish like that to happen. Maybe if you were like Alan Mousk." He chortled and walked off from the counter.
Jackie let out an exasperated sigh and stomped for the exit. The sales person and greeter didn't get a "thanks" from her for being a valued customer today as the teen grabbed hold of her bike's handlebars and hit the road back into the city.
/
She had to think. Indoor snow was too one sided. She wanted to REALLY, REALLY make a blizzard if she could…
Jackie looked up at the sky as she again parked her bike by the side of the road. It was lunch time but she'd ended up the most unlikely of lacerations for San Fran.
Chinatown.
"Mom is gonna have my head on a platter…I gotta –
Her brown eyes scanned the walk; there were shops but one stuck out in particular.
"A curio shop? Isn't that like something from mom an dad's day an' age?" She wondered, yet walked right up to the shady entrance as if brought along by some intangible demon.
That demon, being her own unbridled curiosity.

Watch out! A whole lotta magic is coming your way for a throw back. Anyone remember season four and the shop Cy stepped into, magic – induced pie dream? You will. Stay tuned!
