Genie in a Bottle Series: Ghost Writer – Of Love??

Valentines' day/all – hearts / the illegitimate lovechild of Lupercalia in Roma. And so??

/

Seventeen.

Off from his courses.

With his family on Earth.

And what better way to celebrate??

Raku took in a gulp of air, his laptop he'd saved up for as a gift from his family…. he loved one thing and today, he'd decide to do it.

He zipped to the one place in the home that could not, would NOT have any –

"What are you doin??"

Ah, shoot….

"Amelia…...I…. Had to use the toilet?"

"But…" Ami in all of her kawaii glory looked over the suspicious half – jinni, clutching his laptop as if it had a government conspiracy placed amongst its backup files….

She smirked, not letting the kid think her anything less that a nosy Nance.

" Nothin…. but the bathroom is that way…. have fun in there~!!"

And then, of course Raku turned red by what she was trying to insinuate.

"I'm not doing THAT! Ami???" Groaning, Raku slouched his shoulders and headed for the one safe haven he had on his list.

Yes, the damned bathroom, but not to wash down and get down. He was here….

To type up his masterpiece.

/

He'd been into a few pages that spoke of Ghost Writing. Right now, it was almost all hearts day and Raku had wanted to enter into a contest for this specific topic. He would type up a romance short story…. if he even knew how to. But something in his body and bones was real and it egged him on to throw down the seat and get to work.

No one but Ami and the kid's parents were in while she'd been visiting from Japan. Kaede and Haru stood by, but they did have another residence in the city. It was to take care of…. some other events while Ami's magic was restored to full strength.

Raku started to type. His fingers moved as his quill hand only could, strokes upon the surface as his body only stayed taught as a bow, ready to release his arrow and….

A few hours passed and the story was…. about a woman in her twenties being whisked away to a magical castle where she had to teach the world about the love of a new era, and how she fell for the count that lived within those walls, only to be sent back to her time before she could tell him how she felt. It was a bit of everything. He smiled and clicked SEND. The grin didn't die as the seventeen-year-old in body jinni boy went away and almost as easily as it had begun…. ran back to his room.

One thing about Archivist daemon, is they love all manner of literature. From comedy to tragedy, something HAD awakened within this little Storyteller as if he were, hooked. Plain enamored by his own efforts. A real….

Ego.

He started to type until morning, the laptop still in his hands as the magic in his fingertips had just awoken a new breed of followers….

/

By Valentine's a day or so later, Ami burst through Raku's door, taking away him privacy as he rubbed his eyes and looked up into her –

"You…..are a ghost writer??? And they are going gaga all over the internet for your hi – romance???"

History.

Romance….

What??

Constantine looked over the kid as his double jinni floated around the room and marveled at how plainly the room was decorated.

"Hummm…."

Kori clasped her hands together while Ami kept her good eye on the warlock looking at her brother's condition.

"So….you finally embraced that side of your power….great…." John shook his head. "He can create stories that even if the media says maybe they're sub par, the magic this kid as' has the ability to win over hearts –

"Like a demon!!"

Raku put his head down.

" No. An enchantment, a witch with a love potion in most stories." John corrected.

"Can we…not do anything?? The pages must then be destroyed before –

" Nonesense!" John chuckled. "It's actually a very brilliant milestone. You can win over hearts through your stories, but the truth, lad? They are actually very popular. They aren't just enjoying your magic not BECAUSE of the spell -binding effects of your Story – teller art." He explained. "The fans loved the stories, so that fueled their desires more, so what I'm saying…."

"Zombie – fan girls….Raku!! You're a hit!!" Ami swung her arms around her shocked brother and nuzzled a cheek into his like a cat. "You are a real author! Cool!"

"Not, really…" John scratched his chin. "The power to write can be, dual – edged. You cannot write about too much explicit "content" or that would only fuel the fans' desire to see corrupted, negative emotions brought to light in your readers' thick heads."

"So, it is ok for him to…"

"AS long as someone reviews his work so his magic can't get too far along, he's allowed to express that part of himself." John nodded. "You'll have to settle for that much, and you're due for another magic pop – quiz so study up – My dad didn't like it when I was with my band Mucous Membrane and…. magic was one thing I had to keep hidden from my mates back then."

"That…. what about the addictive feeling you said?" Raku looked up at Constantine, totally disparaged if he could not write as he wanted…

"Just take breaks, don't stay on the screens too long and don't pull any all – nighters!" Warned the equally concerned magi for his pupil.

Raku's jinni pal in the corner snickered with dragon's teeth poking out of its mouth.

~ Can you tell an artist not to paint? Or a baker not to make a masterpiece for the table?? Are you seriously not seeing the potential –

"Dude! We could manage him!" Ami (said – fan girl) leaped over to the sprite of a jinni as they danced round the room singing, "He's gonna be a starrr!!~"

Raku ducked his head, knowing that…. censoring his work was not too bad…if he had the power to write a compelling tale of misfortune, then the world awaited him further beyond those pages.

As it came time to go to the next day….

/

As Raku groggily opened his eyes, he looked to his bed side and saw the two; Ami and the mini - Jinni both in his face.

Raku fell off the bed in surprise, eyes wide and breath heavier. "Why…what?? What was that for??" He demanded in a shaky voice.

Ami snatched up her tablet and shoved it into Raku's face, further upsetting the half daemon.

"You are…...going major - viral!! Look at the T- Tube Vids!! Looook!!"

/

~ Ah, wow…this is…. like Victorian England met the dark ages and had an illegitimate love child that we have to take care of as the readers…When Miranda takes off her cabochon and throws it into the lake…. that was…. waaa!! It's the best ever!! That is love right there, people! ~

And another one….

~This is Fantasy Mave – Raven followers; we have the biggest thing to hit at almost….six mill?? That is just in five chapters alone! A short story contestant entered in a love story to win the volume set of "Calhoune's Rage" and instead is now a sought "Novella ghost writer" that we haven't seen, in like…. ever! ~

Raku started to feel his chest growing tighter.

And….

~ WE want more of this! I read the second chapter and screamed so loud that I woke up my grandma – and she's super deaf!! This isn't just fiction; this is a miracle in an unpublished print that is for everyone! The person's being dubbed the " Phantom Heart-throb." I think it's dumb, so leave below in the comments –

"Raku??"

Dick Grayson opened the door as a rather woozy looking teen failed to stop, he fainted as the family ran to get him back onto his sheets.

A…. dream…

But, how??

I was…. asleep….

My work…

Pages….

That's not –

/

Day three after all heart's day, the Phantom Heart throb of the epic Ghost-Writing cycle of events was sent an email - through the entry email that he'd used to win the contest, so upon reading the contents.

/

"They want to publish you….as an anonymous???"

John and Dick were very distraught by the news.

"This is…all very odd…."

"He's just a kid but could it really…"

" John! Focus." Dick snapped at the magi who just rolled his eyes.

"Raku. I have a feeling that…you didn't do anything intentionally, but if you do write other stories, can you really keep them clean?? What if your topic is about war or –

"He just, can't make it about the "consummation of the characters or of lovers." Coughed John. "It's not smut in any case."

Raku shot up, crimson. "My stories were about being able to find love when the answers remained unclear - and that past or present, it still exists in those we know little of."

"And…. that's where I'm concerned." Dick sighed. "Ami? Stop snooping. I need you to pack for you return to Tokyo."

"But…but!" Ami pouted her lip and stomped off when none of her family acknowledged "the face."

Dick sat down and put his head in his hand as he rested his temples there.

"His abilities are like a meta's and I'm worried that this is what you were talking about –

"We have teens reading this dribble instead of fifty-year-old aunties." John said. "Raku is breaking the barrier being a Non – Binary ally anyway, AND being this young to even know what a cabochon is. Isn't that right, lad?"

"I…. don't think that should matter –

"If they saw you in the flesh, I think they might be willing to bank on –

"HEY!" Dick reprimanded loudly. "Don't use him as a cash cow, John. This is Raku's ability… but it's his powerful influence; to create as well over take that has me at an immediate, no."

Raku raised a finger to add, "I…could try…one time, to see if –

"I'm not sure it's such a bad plan, actually." John shrugged. "What has me is why every night you seem to have a new chapter up…"

"I…. tend to be…" Raku bit his lip, still as confused as the rest.

"That laptop is a conduit right now for your magic." John rubbed his neck and stood up. "If you treat it as your "tome," you may regain back some of that control, no strings."

Raku nodded as John C led himself out, Dick's brow still taught and knit in confusion over the fact….

Raku was sleeping when he'd checked up on the kid, so it had to be a leak of his magic writing that.

Like Raven, he needed to better learn to keep his craft in check, so Dick and John had a plan they'd not told Raku about.

They were going to find out the "magi's secret," in the dead of the mid – night hour.

/

Raku's feet didn't move as he stayed in bed, the laptop at the end of it as he drew the covers over his head. Analog clock beeping as the time turned to eleven thirty.

No…he had thought that was him, or…was it…not it…

He gulped, trying to think of how dumb the name "Phantom – Heart Throb" was.

~ We can do better, give ourselves the title of master librarian…. ~

"Huh?" Raku ripped back the sheets as he looked around the room.

"I….must need my rest…." The kid finally yawned, finding that…his eyes….

~ Time to start our fun…. ~

/

John contacted Dick on his unit. Ami had even decided to find out if there was a pseudo being playing them, as Raku's door stayed shut.

"So…we just…go in?" Ami raised a dark brow beside her papa.

~ As long as you're not spotted. I think the boy has an alter self doing this based on his repressed status. His emotions are the ink, while he'd be the pen. The container. ~

"And the word doc…" Ami gasped.

"His paper." Dick answered. "Kori? Are you in positon?"

~ Outside, and waiting for the one responsible to reveal itself to us. ~ Starfire nodded at the face other unit.

"Good, work. If we get Raku to wake up in time, we may just see what –

As the door swung forth, they all stood far too still for this to be an unsightly phenomenon.

The face wasn't a face but what looked to be a spray of gold, light blue and black ink swirling as a real faceless ink – body typed away at the laptops' now extended keys. All as the magic in the room took hold WHILE Raku was fast asleep.

" AHA!" Ami pointed. "YOU are the culprit…. ummm…...no – face?"

The think by the keys lifted a heavy lanky finger as ink dripped forth from it, creating a swirling mass that transformed.

~ Storyteller!! He's let it loose! Don't let that ink touch you! ~

John headed back with a book in hand and Ignito's words in the back of his mind.

~ A power all his own, and what could contain creativity but one's own ego...~
