Rain Dancin'

/

Fun fox sibling flashback that just hit me – like a bolt of lightening!!

/

Ronald was not always "Ron" from the great outback or a Zealand native as his mum and other siblings on earth.

He had an extensive background that ranged into the terrirory of the war gods of old in the Spirit realm.

Long ago, gods ruled ay manner of natural phenomenon and kept the balance between the seasons and the elements.

For example; Aria's ancestors ruled the Southern Isles or the Aegean seas and their territory to Rome and Greek lore. She was known as a Nereid by the birth of her mother, yet her father…

Was not on the list of those to show thanks.

And anyway, she was an aquatic powerhouse that ruled the southern isles' shore and the twin passages in the spirit world – yet she was also said to be in line to…

Ok, ok! Off track.

Once upon a time, gods ruled the skies, rivers and traveled the earth in order to maintain the harmony of their "domains." As keepers of sacred lessons, these beings ranged from north to south, and east to west.

Each culture could dictate an element to these directions, and thusly the spirits that made it to the level of a deity, the kyuubi for example from a trickster kitsune spirit, ended up gaining powers to protect their domain beside the old relic they gave offerings to daily.

Inari was to the east, while a dog god to the north was not why. Earth and wood would have dictated that the god of rice in Japan was in fact an Earthen deity.

While Posiedon for example, Aria's dear great great great……huff…huff….greaat!!...grandparent, watched over sailors and made love to the nerei –

We came off the page, phew! And then!

Fire.

Apollo or Apollon was to the sun, which is to fire as its element.

The moon; to winter and to the chill of water and so on since the tides basically…. you get the picture.

And so, this chapter is about two siblings who are here to understand their roles before they come to forget what their lot in life as "elemental guardians" will be.

/

The kits swished their tails and ears from side to side as the day's lesons made the twins restless.

Fire and water, but no.

They were gods of the sky, of carefree tenacity.

And of mischief.

~ There are the planes of existence and what will mean the knowledge you shall…. ~

IT had been a lesson, at least an hour ago.

The younger kit was called Ryu. (Ron, duh. We never used his name.) His title was as a prince beside the other. A young lord who would one day hold the powers of a storm so wild in his grasp.

Getting antsy, the little kit looked to his side and saw the elder; Kelihatan. The son of Lady Sayumon and Hanuman, his half brother no less.

The youth's eyes peeped before him to look past the tall hedge that had the busiest places to hide and scamper about.

As a kitsune of such a high honor, young Ryu was not worried about getting a whack on the head from his teacher. His brother was studius yet very blind to the comings and goings of the world around them.

(Noted, Ryu in this case was the past self before Ron ever came to exist. Reincarnation or incarnates are a thing for the gods and over shadowing too.)

~ Are you paying attention, Ryu- ouji - sama? ~ Getting a bit nervous from being called by that formal title, Ryu tucked away his head and nodded. ~ Gomen…. I was able to hear. ~ He lied.

~That speech will not be tolerated here, young lord. ~ The teacher tapped his ruler, the tall hat he wore tipping as Kelihatan said nothing yet glared at his brother. Fangs withdrawn to not cause a stir.

~ It is still in the words of my people. ~ Ryu huffed and crossed his arms, expecting an answer. ~ Why can't I use this farming dialect to show that I am for the order of my court and townsfolk? ~

~ You are a regal, mast…. ~ The teacher bit his lip and instead shook his head, continuing with the lesson and ignoring Ryu's own plea to know something politically important.

~Moving on to the realms of the forgotten, which should never be summoned to our sphere. ~ Warned the tutor, seeing the pupil's eyes start to take in a bit more of this fun topic.

And as they'd soon have it, he was fired. The same day.

~ You do not stop! ~ Kelihatan bounded over and huffed to his blonde brother of such a light eyed complexion. Keli was as his mother; a white fox with eyes as silver as a cold winter's embrace. He was a being born to rule over the element of air, and the wind. He could be cold and yet he was more fridged by how that glare found its radar that was Ryu's naïve features.

~ That was not the last best tutor we have had; I will never advance as an elemental if…you too! Do you not worry what mother might say?? ~ Keli was very distraught. More a hare with a bone to pick than a fox with a kit to nip.

~I think my question was very mature for my age. You only sit and listen, but do you even see what lies beyond those walls father has built around us? ~ Asked the younger. ~Mother says that we are too young to fathom it, yet how can we ever be decent leaders one day if we cannot understand those who till the soil and provide for so many causes? ~

~ WE work for the gods. We have the hardest job of all. Don't let the mortal – bound of the past world sway your sympathies, Ryu. ~ Keli shook his head, disappointed and quite frankly, not waiting to be spotted by their caretaker.

~You should return to the palace. ~ Keli told the younger, despondently. ~ You and I will both be summoned soon. ~

~I will go when I am good and ready! You…just do not understand!! ~ Ryu ran off just as a trickle of rainfall had started to come down. Keli got nervous. He stomped around just as it had started to pour.

His brother.

He was a lightening deity's vassal to be! He was not akin to water!

Yet, where did this rain come just from? Keli did not think so hard as he lashed out at puddles that made him a wet dog instead of a clean one. The storm was an omen. The god of the storm was…

/

Flushing through a raging torrent, hail began to pelt his backside as monkies throwing excrement. Keli shivered and tried to see on the path ahead who had stood in getting the little lord's attention.

~Sorry! ~ The riotous Ryu smiled down as he hung in the trees, trying to prey on the weaker down below – even if age and races did define them, Keli was of the air and clouds primarily. He was no more a monk with a vow of silence than Ryu was a warrior with a bad temper.

~You should tell the tutor to kick his own pants! I was going to, but the wind is…~

~Do you even know what you are capable of, little brother?? ~ Keli shouted at his teary-eyed sibling.

Ryu shook his head vigorously. ~No! I control this element and you must not follow me! ~

~How can I not?? ~ Keli answered back, trying to be reasonable. ~Mother asked me to protect us both. I'm not one to turn away from MY role. ~

~And, that would be? ~ Ryu sniffed and raised an eye to meet his brother's two silvery ones.

~That clouds can douse the world with many things, but no thunder will come down from the heavens, without me. You only have lightening because of the Air element. Without my comrade – ship, we are divided and you might harm those that you wish to protect. ~

Ryu stayed and gaped at that reminder. He, was so very, very sorry…

The hail stopped pelting the white furred fox kit. The blonde and golden fox child stepped from a branch and came to be at Keli's side. His eyes as red from crying as his brother's were sincere.

~Can we always be together? ~ Ryu sniffled and tugged at his sibling's long robes.

Keli smiled, putting a hand onto the youth's head of hair. His ears twitched and with a nod, the blonde fox of lightening and storms was quieted…

Until, their next mathematics assignment was due.

/

Years later, the two were in close combat with a fierce beast; a red dragon that had crawled into the eastern divide of spirit's territory, and had forced out the current relic to step down.

It wore a crown of fire, when wood and air should have preceded the first.

Kelihatan owned land and no longer lived with his mother, Sayumon. Ryu had chosen to stay, as he was still expected to become a powerful judge of these times as the next storm king.

Kelihatan left on a journey with the orphaned boy prince Noburo Roku – known as in the western divide as his counterpart Richard Ainsley. His life was turbulent and Keli as the dashing Prince Kayumon, had shed his only memories in an attempt to face the greater threat.

The dragon lord imposter that had come between the two brothers….

/

Roku had tormented Kayu, only to change him. He'd had his memories tainted and had fought against the king in the End to End All Ends. He'd soon left; isolated himself as a demon had taken hold. A cursed "self" that this lord of evil red had cast upon the silvery cloud riding royal.

Raku, as he was called in the present, was nothing like this character of Kayu or Keli's past. Ryu had been…quite shy. Almost as rambunctious as a kit. And now, he'd chosen to protect the same mortals that he'd once wanted proven guilty (older arcs with Sayumon as the antagonist.)

Raku, was a shy boy too. He was quiet. Reserved. Not at all as the tainted soul that he had been as a daemon lord of Ryu, now Ron's world.

Sayumon was on the side of good again, however…

~I did not expect a visit from an old friend. ~ Smiling at him, Kayu's brother had come to his balcony at the man's villa in the countryside. In this world, wealth was power, not skill or knowledge. And how did the world conclude that to be over a sibling's concerns for one another?

~I was worried about the council. That's all been but settled….But, Mate –

~Try not to imagine a world as it should be. ~ Kayu wisely worded from a passage spoken so many times.

The carelessness of the language that touched them –

Ron near tumbled to the balcony as a drop of water hit his nose. He snifled and there, was Kayu. Offering a cup of hot tea. ~There is plenty. The rain cannot harm enough of us here. Sit. We'll be up all night if you catch a chill. ~

~And you your death. ~ Chuckled Ron as he landed and took the bait. The tea still moderately hot enough in this spring weather.

~I recall you could create rainbows at one time. ~ Said Ron to his brother, cup to his lips as he took but a sip.

~And I could recall when you'd burned down an entire pine forest. The rot stunk for weeks. ~ Keli grinned back and topped off his brother's cup.

~Is this jasmine? Full moon bloom was the best on the market, I heard. ~

~It was for occasions like this one, though I didn't grab it in time. ~ Confessed the silver haired heir.\

~What did that cat, Verra ever see in your company? ~ Ron took to his cup, just as it was starting to lose its divine texture.

Too cold out tonight.

~He was, interested in my wellbeing and mostly, ~ Kay tried to take another sip, then spoke again. ~ The boy, Richard was his charge. And he loved that child as if he had no other to protect. He was proud and boisterous and…. just a real pup. ~ Smiled the fox, rather fondly. He could have swished his tail, yet it remained hidden with his seven others.

~Eh, did you forget? ~

~About what? ~ The silver cloud surfer lent his ear to the other hound.

~About how Veravakumu's boy almost stripped you of your freedom. ~

~ That Raku cannot make ammends, that I am still alive and sane. ~ Spoke the air elemental softly. ~I would do as may times to protect the ones I care about. Even you, little brother. ~

~Oy! Why the sudden change of heart? ~ Ron put down his cup with very little finess about it. ~You used to keep away – the demon in you took hold…and you never let it pass…I was left to replace you. ~ Ron sighed. ~If I had known why you'd changed, where you had vanished to with that mercenary Wilson, then perhaps….we could have gotten this all sorted out much sooner. ~

~Did I not tell you. ~ Kayu slowly lowered his cup to pour just one more. The moon shown in its face, as the answer remained unanimously decided upon.

~I wish for tomorrow, never of what was. That is why the gods bicker so. That they cannot stop and reflect on what two sides mean; of chaos and order and why this must always be the case. ~

~As we are, brother. ~ Gulped the blonde fox with a nod, taking in the image of a cloud filled sky and a clear one. ~Like rain and hail we exist. ~

~Together, we are one. And so it is. ~

~Even if we should one day battle for the crown. ~ Ron leaned a bit closer, resting his hands to the table, nodding still.

~WE are the ones of order and chaos, and both sides of our worlds will have either and all to dictate come time for this reason to thrive. ~

~I understand…~ Ron looked back at why Keli had not had to scold him. Why Raku was given a second chance. And why this kit was wiser in his years than ever before. Even as Ron had lived with both gods and humans, he could still never truly grasp their world as he stood. He parted that evening and the rain felt magical against his flesh. He wanted to dance in the sky, and so he did. Leaving ribbons of white and yellow to grace the world, he was to be…

Eternal.

Just as Kelihatan and he were always to be of the same element.

Life.

And rebirth.
