Tokyo Drift – Side A

/

The bustle of Shinjuku at night was stricken early in mid April with the rest of the world, with a global warming sized heat wave passing on through. Again, Shoji Takahara imagined being a big shot on the beach in the Bahamas with a coconut drink and straw in hand.

The life he couldn't grasp despite being this far up the ladder was always his limbo to suffer through as a guardian given a human guise.

His key card shut the place down as the cars and neon signs lit up outside those many faceted windows.

Shoji took his car out of park and set off down the road back to his townhouse there. His suite right now was just so he'd keep a lower profile and the city wasn't a fan of being very quiet about anyone's going - ons as of late.

Not since Ami had come to Tokyo to be a sorceress under Amaterasu's protection had Shoji stayed in his own home out in Osaka. The one he'd taken from the real Takahara before his soul was eaten alive through flesh.

Seeing as the roads would be darker by the time he got back, sweat trickled below his suit. A cold one…maybe soup or soba?

/

A noodle shop later and one full stomach settled, Takahara looked up and saw starlight in his path.

The bar district. Shoot.

"When did I end up here again?" Thankfully, he'd not drunken a drop of alcohol, yet the place he'd landed looked to be…. different somehow?

Shoji scratched his cheek and thought about the location of his vehicle, keys jingling in his pocket. "Fourty minutes ago! Aho!" He looked at the garage and saw NONE. No black SUVs. None; as in, he'd been jacked. Left with…. jack squat!

"I can't believe this!" Shoji groaned and ran a hand over his jaw. He ripped out his cell and at lightning speed, made a desperate call for a pick up.

"Tsubomi, Yumiko?"

~ Wrong! ~

Shoji blinked, frowning at who'd gotten his line first.

"Oh. Kaede." The man deadpanned. "Where is your care giver?"

~ She is making supper, pooch. ~ That delinquent had a Pucky stick in hand as she bit down, breaking it easily between her canine teeth. Kaede was a Kitsune of high order to her faction. She and her younger sibling Haru watched over young Ami Grayson even on their days off. Kaede was the gyaru – brat of the pack. A real tomboy at heart and far too dangerous normally to tempt. A clawed beast with a reputation for having a wild side.

Unlike Haru, she was a ruffian. A rouser of mischief with no way to stop once she'd been wound up – going from club o club and using he blades to take out demons that could satisfy her hunger for seeing justice wrought unto the mortals she protected.

"I need, a bit of assistance. I had my car…. taken."

~ Sorry for you, huh? Should'a stayed off the streets, money – bags… ~ The fox teen tutted the other adult. ~Tell ya what; I won't tell Yumi that you're royally screwed of Ayane for that matter…. IF you take me to this drag racing event down in the big city. ~ She grinned and let her fox's white tail curl up in excitement at winning a driving competition.

"Drag, as in –

~ That's so not PC. ~ Snorted the fox. ~ No, a car race for a big spot on the wall of elites. Baka. ~

"You really want to piss off your superiors?" Sniffed the guardian in his now drenched suit. It was still humid, and pretty gross out.

~ I won't play fox – spells on those human meat bags. ~ Reassured the white fox. ~ I'll drive our car, but you won't get out of it. You'll hide as Verra. ~ Kaede proposed. ~ That way we won't get disqualified. ~

"Are you an ok driver?" Shoji didn't like this plan. A wild child like Kaede could put dents in his record of excellence.

~ It's what I do on all my Fridays. Mainly to avoid the hag. ~

"Yumi won't be ok with –

~ You wanna get mugged on the streets, fur – ball? ~

"I don't know why you are…or how you even became this, street smart!" Shoji sighed. "Fine...But don't whip out the blackmail so soon." He warned. "Yumi's a great caretaker and she can catch your scent and my own by reading the air currents. Especially, once the heat's died down by tonight."

~ No rain. I already checked. ~

Shoji chewed the inside of his cheek. "I'm in the bar district in a parking garage only a few blocks from…. Noodle – Haven. You can't beat the smell of somen out the door!" He chuckled. "Ate cold soba and it, was too good to leave for the rats out back."
