Yeon's POV
I kept the Bulgasari in my freezer until he decided to give Rang a call. I watched my brother take a shot and as he finished I snagged the seat across from him.
"You were drinking?" I greeted my younger sibling casually before taking the shot glass out of his hand. "Pour me a shot"
"Was that call from you?" Rang asked with his casual smirk. "No wonder he didn't sound right"
I began to eat the food while saying.
"You matured, you couldn't eat anything fishy"
This greatly amused my little brother.
"Don't act so relaxed seeing as you rushed here in the middle of the night, you must be desperate, I'm right, aren't I? That woman was reincarnated, right?"
As I drank my shot Rang asked if I thought Daenys was alive or dead. I set the shot glass down and answered.
"She's alive, and you don't stand a chance of killing her because she's much larger in her true form and she can defend herself in human form"
"She's feistier in this life than from the past"
I sighed before giving Rang a serious look.
"Don't you lay a finger on her"
"What if I do? Tell me I'm dying of excitement"
"You know this is a from a lack of attention, you understand? It's a brother complex"
Rang then slammed his fist onto the table.
"Shut up this is all your fault"
"How so?" I asked for the hell of it.
"You abandoned your duty as the mountain god and left the mountains all for a female wyvern"
I sighed again before saying.
"Yes I abandoned you"
The two of us were quiet for a few minutes before I spoke again.
"Is that what you wanted to hear no?"
"Get lost right now"
"You upset?"
That pissed Rang off and he knocked over the table in his anger. He then grabbed a hold of my suit.
"Playtime is over and that woman is in my hands"
I tutted before standing up and I removed his hand from my suit.
"You and your poor manners, don't stay out too late, if you drink too much you'll get a tummy ache, so be careful"
As I turned to leave Rang continued.
"You lunatic, do you even know where she is?"
He was smirking like a maniac again.
"Shall I tell you or not?"
"I don't need you to, you're here right now and there's only been one accident in this neighborhood tonight"
I then took my leave and I felt my brother still smirking from behind me.
Ayleen's POV
"I thought you were an author not an investigator for paranormal law enforcement" Yeon muttered while dealing with his sea sickness.
"Shut it fox, I don't want people on the boat knowing what I do for my main living, and besides I investigate potential threats of the supernatural and report them to my cousin-in-law on the side"
Since I was currently on writer's block Derek found something interesting to investigate on the island Yeon and I were heading to.
"You could fly from the mainland to the island" Yeon suggested.
"Long flights are tiring and I can't carry my belongings over water especially if they are of the electronic variety" I countered.
Yeon groaned again from being seasick and the ferry docked fifteen minutes later.
"Are you Ms. Moore?" a woman asked.
"Yes I am"
The woman's name was Pyung-hee and she wanted more information about the death of her father. It looked suspicious from the report that Derek sent me and he suspected foul play by a supernatural being.
Yeon was next to me still dealing with seasickness.
"Is he with you?" Pyung-hee inquired eying the nine-tailed fox next to me.
"Yes I am, I'm her assistant"
I shot Yeon a WTF look and his answer seemed to satisfy Pyung-hee. We followed her to her house and once our host went inside I shot Yeon a look.
"What?"
"Since when did you become my assistant? I can handle this on my own"
"True but I do what I want when I want"
"Hell your such a pain in the ass"
Yeon smirked before he ventured inside the house after he took his shoes off. I then interviewed Pyung-hee about her father. She used to live in Incheon as a factory employee before coming to the island after her father mysteriously disappeared after his fishing boat capsized. During the interview, Yeon grabbed a glass of tea and I smacked his jacket in annoyance.
Pyung-hee started to tear up and I stopped the interview so I could give her some Kleenex. I then listened to a voicemail her father left her and it was sweet. The deceased spoke about wanting his daughter to come visit when she wasn't busy and about her late mother. Pyung-hee explained she died of cancer.
I could relate to losing a family member to cancer. My maternal grandmother died from it and yes even supernatural's could get human diseases if not caught early. Pyung-hee had wondered why her father had dreamt of his late wife.
"She came to greet him" Yeon interrupted suddenly. He sat down by the door and looked at us. "Seeing someone after they lived out their life, it means they're here to take you, the person who was meant to die that day must've been you"
I gave Yeon the death glare and after asking some more questions I wrapped the interview up. She offered us a room to stay in instead of a lodge. Pyung-hee then left to go run some errands.
"It really is shabby" Yeon muttered looking at the room.
"Would you rather stay at a lodge? It'll do fox"
"Well I'm not fine with it"
He's annoyed that we will have to share the room
I smirked at her remark and then noticed a mountain. I nodded towards the land mass.
"There's a mountain I saw in a documentary you guys are good diggers"
"Sorry but I'm more modern I can't sleep somewhere without a boiler"
He then tossed his bag into the room and I put mine down before blocking his path with my leg. The hot bastard smirked before he went underneath my leg and I felt my face going red. A half hour later I was in the village determined to get some more information about the skull.
I found the two fishermen who found the skull and asked if I could talk to them for a few minutes. They agreed and I sat down.
"What brings you all the way out here?" the fisherman with silvery hair wondered.
"Just passing time was getting bored back home, were the two of you close to the late Mr. Seo?"
"There's no such thing as close when you live in the same neighborhood we saw him from time to time"
"Exactly we were neighbors no more no less"
Bullcrap they were on the same fishing boat
"You two worked on the same fishing boat didn't you?"
That wiped the smiles off of their faces. Yep, they had something to hide alright.
"How about you pour me a drink first?"
I took the beer bottle and began to pour the shot until it overflowed. This pissed off the fishermen.
"Oh dear it seems I was too generous"
"How dare you! Your nothing but an outsider here bitch!" the silvery-haired fisherman raised his fist.
I sighed before standing up and proceeded to show the idiot the shiny dagger I had hidden in my jacket. At seeing the weapon the two fishermen took off.
"Wow your brave," Yeon said with sarcasm as he offered me a soda.
I rolled my eyes and accepted the soda from him. As I went about my business trying to get more information from the other villagers I kept noticing Yeon was walking behind me the whole time.
"Why are you following me?"
"I'm not I'm doing something similar"
I sighed before stopping and turned to the fox.
"Then do it"
"I'm going to freeload as much as possible"
The bastard then went behind me and I felt my face go red when I felt his breath on my neck. In my mind, my wyvern snickered. Ignoring the fox I tried to speak with some of the older women of the village but they didn't want to cooperate. I couldn't exactly blame them for not wanting to talk and Yeon chose that moment to go into the forest.
"Damn, why do foxes have to be so damned fast?" I growled under my breath as I followed Yeon's scent into a forest.
His eyes were closed for a few minutes before he opened them again.
"This forest is dead meaning all the forest spirits have left"
"Why would they leave?"
"Because they were abandoned by humans and forgotten"
My other half whimpered at this and I too felt saddened. My ears then heard something and Yeon did as well.
"Who's there?"
A girl no more than ten or eleven years old came out from behind a tree and approached. But then she stopped and kneeled before us.
"I pay my respects to the former lord of the forests"
Yeon approached the girl and I followed.
"Do you know who I am?"
"I once saw you from afar" the girl replied.
My eyes then went wide when I realized this girl was a spirit. According to her she was all alone and something vile had come to the island during a typhoon. She couldn't leave due to her being bound to the tree.
"I can fix that" I announced getting my dagger out. I went to the tree and found what was keeping the spirit stuck on the island. I cut into the rope and slowly got it untied from the tree.
"Thank you miss, thanks to you I'm now free"
"I'm glad to have helped you, one shouldn't be alone, make sure you find some shoes your feet are hurt enough"
"I'll keep that in mind"
Yeon and I then watched as the young spirit gave us a farewell bow before she took her leave. She disappeared and my inner wyvern hummed in happiness.
"Well done" Yeon praised me.
"Complementing me now are we?" I teased the fox arching an eyebrow. He blushed before taking the rope from me and tossed it.
Serves him right for every time he's made you blush
While the fox was caught off guard I decided to make him even more flustered. When he wasn't looking I kissed his cheek.
"Eh?! What was that for?!"
"Because I felt like it fox" was my reply and I walked away with a smirk. Yeon mumbled under his breath before following after me.
