It was nearing to the end of October, and she was still stuck in the Hospital.

Decorations were being put in the hospital for Halloween. It was supposed to cheer everyone up from the bitterness of their sheltered lives as they were stuck in a hospital bed. Each corridor looked the same, with cheap and inexpensive decorations used from obvious past decades, Decorations that were stuffed in a box to be used for a small amount of time. And then put away in a closet somewhere for someone to hunt down the following year. Mostly likely to get lost and used at the very last minute as always.

Unwell children being cheered up by Nurses and somewhat the doctors, doing their best to what it seemed to forget that they were in pain. Forget that some of them were dying of four stage cancers. And that was unlikely that some of them would not even make it to Christmas, let alone next year.

It was a time of year that they could cosplay as their favourite (super) hero and pretend to be them for just one time. Or even a villain or some other type of character that they would rather be than themselves. It spoke to their imagination and what life could or would have been if they had never gotten ill. Or perhaps it was in their hopes of meetings their heroes or some semblances of feelings closer to them. Most children dressed as Superman, Wonder Woman and even dressed as The Flash.

She could not help but laugh at a small child talking a tantrum as he was given the wrong costume. The anger and distain on his face said it all.

"I wanted to be The Green Lantern" said the snot nosed kid

"But this is…" Said his mother

"I do want to be the Green Arrow" said the kid sounding it was the stupid thing he had ever heard her say.

The kid slammed the costume to the ground and started to stomp on it.

"How was I supposed to know? They look the exact same?" said his Dad.

This made it clear that the Dad was the one to buy it and not the Mum. It was clear he saw a green costume and made sure it was the right size, not caring to check if it was the right costume. He just needed to make sure it was the right size, so he would not have to take it back again. Well, it was looking like that was going to change because his wife was clearly pissed off with him and the idiot did not seem to even notice the stern look his wife was giving him.

"Look Honey I promise you Daddy is going to go and get you another one" she sweetly said smiling at her son as she kneeled down and reassured him.

She took up.

"Right?" she said glaring at her husband.

And this time he was able to catch on to his wife anger.

"Y-yes?Honey" he said sweating and backing away.

And before she knew he was running of a panic.

Too bad he did not know that they had already run out of the costumes by now. Right now Green Lantern was more people and already sold out. Having been told this by 'The Junior Detective League' numerous times, as they were sad they could not have the whole team dressed as the 'Justice League.'

It was the sight of a kid dressed as Kaitou Kid that brought her out of her thoughts and back into reality.

The costume reminded her of the reality of people that wear disguises and the problems that are brought upon them.

KID was nothing like the gentleman that he pretended to be. He was nothing but a literal child and a peeping tom. Someone that would end up in jail because of this and if he continued with these kinds of actions he would just end up worse. This was where some criminals start as a child and then graduate to far worse crimes to rape or murder. He already had a fascination with a Edowaga Christie, a child that was too young for him. Stealing was another crime that he is committing at a young already. And it was likely that he started at a very young age, younger than she probably would have first guessed. She knew that his father was a famous magician and was likely the first KID. She already knew that his mother had made a career in stealing and that…She was thinking of this too much, and she was almost invested in this. She was already looking at the criminal's background and story. She was investigating and that was the last thing that she wanted to do. She was no longer a detective and that was the end of it.

She was exhausted and needed a break.

"Phew" she said as she sat on the nearest bench.

And put the crutches against the wall.

She just blew hot air; know that her doctor was still looking for her because she kept leaving the floor when she was not supposed. For someone unknown reason she was practically over protective. Her unknown relative that was overseas was paying her medical bills and was her current guardian. She hasn't been told what their name was, but from what she could her doctor knew who this person was and she knew them on a personal note. Not only she had made some mistake and she knew various things about them. But she did not want to get into that right now.

"Crap!" she said to herself.

The children had noticed her and now she would be soon crowded by them.

"Shinichi-Kun"

"Neechan"

"Shinichi"

And before she could even blink, she was surrounded by the child sized superheroes. And ironically the last to come to her was 'The Flash' as he stumbled over his own feet. They were clinging to her and smiling at her sweetly and like they had something to hide. And worse she could see it in their parent's eye; they had a babysitter in her. And it was written all over the hospital staffs faces as well. She was mature enough to keep an eye on them, and it would make their jobs much easier. And this was the reason that had compelled her to stay and know that she was stuck watching them. Not that she did not enjoy the company; this made reminded her of 'The Junior Detective League' days. She hated responsibility and everyone knowing that she was mature enough for everything that she had been through that this would be a pinch.

Even though she could barely balance on two legs, somehow she was able to play with the kids that were running about mad. They wanted chased and they wanted to chase her. Playing hide and seek, in a hospital of all places. The staff liked that she was able to convince the children to stay on the same floor and hide in safe places. Places that they should be and they were not running around in dangerous places and causing havoc. To them having around was the best thing that could have happened. Especially because she had stories to tell and the kids easily went to sleep when she was around.

This experience was better for her (and worse) than physiotherapy because she was able to know her limits would be in a routine day.

And for the next two hours she was stuck babysitting a bunch of kids that were crawling out of the woodwork. Then the hospital was shortly arrived by 'The Junior Detective League' before they kicked out because visiting time was truly over.

"There you are" said a female voice.

The doctor was giving her a disapproving look as she arrived back into her room to go to bed and do no more.

"You missed your appointment again" said the doctor.

She mental sighed because she did not want another lecture on how she was neglecting her health.

"And you have not eaten today" said the doctor.

Thinking back she had forgotten to eat. But she did have a cup of coffee or maybe three of them to be exact. And she wanted a fourth before she went to bed because it always seemed to help her go to sleep.

"I had so coffee" she muttered.

Now it was the doctor's time to physically.

"Honestly your just like you're…" said the doctor before she had stopped herself from talking any further.

She had put this down to her not wanting to upset her patient by talking about her parents. This would lead to her crying and dealing with an upset patient and others were also walking on eggshells around her as well. She had not talked much about her parents and their death because it was a subject she did not need to talk about nor needed to.

But something in her gut was telling her that there was something more to what she was saying. It was more to how she phrased it and then subtle pause that she put her own words. The fear in her words or rather that she was trying to hide something, almost if there was a secret to protect. But the question was who was she protecting and why?

'Quit being a detective' she told herself as she thought about it.

"I am sorry" she said.

She just wanted to go to bed.

"You can eat your dinner, and you need to take your medication" said the doctor.

She did not want to take her medication.
