What made the case questionable?
It was the screaming.
The loud screaming that echoed the hospital and was heard on all floors. The scream was the reason that made the death suspicious and not a suicide.
It was a scream of sheer terrify.
No one thought to ask about it.
Everyone and the police assumed that it was the person that found the body. So, they let it go and assumed on with the case.
But reading the reports she was not too entirely convinced of this. The person that found the body was a woman, true.
But this woman/doctor was as tough as nails and nothings seemed to scare her. She was not even scared, and this was all too normal for her. She was older and more reserved but was open with patients and a small amount of the staff. Her New Jersey accent was faint, but Shinichi could tell that was where she came from. And if she did not even blink at a death crime scene like this then there was only one place she could come from Gotham.
Gotham a place people would barely blink at the death of someone. Where doctors saw more dead bodies than they did living patients or their patients would end up the deceived. Being a doctor was ironically thought to be one of the safest jobs in Gotham because they were needed too much by criminals. Although they would be occasionally kidnapped, assaulted and even blackmailed or bribed.
So, who did the scream belong to?
"It is gotta be ae victim" said Hattori.
She had heard the scream and this did seem logical. But she was not entirely sure.
"Have the body re-examined" order Megure.
With everyone busy taking orders and rethinking about the case she was alone. Shinichi decided that she wanted to go to the scene of the crime instead.
Hattori somehow got in an argument with someone he thought was flirting with Kazuha again, so she decided that it was best to go investigate alone. Poor little kid did flirt with Kazuha, but he was only eight years old. Hattori was jealous of someone that was nearly half his age. It actually made her laugh and smile a little, for a moment.
Everyone was so amused by Hattori and the little kid that they could not help but watch they did not even notice that she had gone. And what made it even better was that Ran was encouraging Kazuha to admit her feelings.
Shinichi did not want the headache that the couple with the crazy Osaka couple. Everyone already thought that they were a couple. It was just sad that they could not already admit their feelings for each other.
But she was suspecting now that they might have already done so. But they wanted to spare her feelings of the happy news of their relationship because they wanted her to grief. She did not know why they thought this would help her. Good news is something that does help when someone is grieving and hiding it just makes it worse.
The crime scene had been already cleaned up and then closed again. So, the evidence that might have been left would have been contaminated. There could be evidence to find, but that could be doubted. She had to find out how the victim was killed. She needed to find the motive and for the case to be closed she would need to get a confession from the murderer.
But how she would be able to get one was the real trouble. And she had not done this in some time, so she was going to need some help with it.
