Chapter 1
Pain. Splintering even the strongest of Huntsman and Huntresses all throughout history. Emotional. Physical. The type need not correlate to the severity of scars inflicted, nor the disfiguration to one's soul. For the Ruby Rose, pain followed her like a jealous lover. Constantly gnawing, scratching, and plunging into openings left by despair and hardship. Attempting to burrow its unsightly head deep into her heart, attempting to lay claim to yet another huntress. But Ruby Rose lives. She knelt, she budged, she cried. She was broken down, torn apart, and swallowed by darkness. But she lives to carry on her fight. At her side stands her family, one that supported her and followed her to dimensions and worlds unheard.
Isn't she lucky? Yang took care of her when Summer fizzled, Weiss emboldened her when she doubted herself, and Blake boldly proclaimed Ruby's value as a leader even when facing down the worst of Remnant. But, what if these, and all their moments just wasn't. What if they didn't do any of it? What if instead, they were the source of Ruby's pain?
Ruby wouldn't be the same, would she. Would Ruby Rose cave then? I like to think we measure pain through our past experiences. I like to think Ruby Rose wouldn't cave not because she's strong willed, but because she would have experienced worse, felt worse, and done worse.
Sorry Ruby.
It's rather boring up here after I killed my brother.
