~ Xenoblade Chronicles
Each time Maribel dreamed of the Trinity Processor, the scenery was different.
Pneuma preferred to recreate scenes of places on Earth, present day and historical, using information on the station's databanks. She had taken Maribel to old Tokyo, to Mt Fuji, to the Amazon, and each time asked Maribel to tell her about it. Logos often complained, but never stopped her.
Logos himself preferred to set the dreams on Rhadamanthus, though once he had recreated the interior of the Icarus , and even Satellite Torifune, based on blueprints. He preferred to watch the Earth from above.
Now, Maribel floated in the darkness of space. Around her were countless chunks of rock and ice. Below her stretched out Saturn, in all its glory. As she stared down at the planet, trying to comprehend its scale, someone spoke.
"Quite the view, eh?"
Logos appeared next to her, arms crossed. The light of the distant Sun seemed to be sucked into the darkness of the crystal on his chest.
"It's beautiful," Pneuma agreed, floating on the other side of Renko. Her turquoise hair fanned out behind her as if she were underwater. Her crystal gleamed in the darkness.
Maribel turned to and fro, searching.
A youth floated a distance away, watching the clouds of Saturn. Shaggy silver hair, the hue a spitting image of Galea's, was tousled by a nonexistent breeze. The youth turned towards them, making clearer to Maribel the similarities to Galea. The greatest difference was the pale violet jacket, as opposed to the bright reds Galea was fond of. Sunlight twinkled off a red crystal.
Ontos said, "Maribel Hearn. We meet again."
Maribel focused, floating closer towards Ontos. Pneuma and Logos followed, Pneuma with playful grace, Logos keeping his arms crossed.
"You look very nice," Maribel said, smiling.
Ontos returned her smile, and said, "Thank you, Miss Hearn."
"I'm glad that I was able to help," Maribel continued. "I wasn't sure if what I did was enough…"
Ontos said, "You were of great help."
"That's good, because I wasn't sure what else to do. I didn't want to press the matter of meeting you officially with Professor Klaus. Renko tells me he's been in a right state lately."
"He's being a colossal asshole," Logos corrected.
"Logos!" Pneuma scolded.
"I'm just telling the truth!" he snapped back, throwing his arms out.
Ontos said, "Professor Klaus' behavior is less than appropriate. He is under much stress."
"And he's doling it out nice and evenly to everyone else," Logos grumbled, before Maribel said anything.
Pneuma shot them both looks, before shaking her head and taking Maribel's hands into her own.
"Tell us about the world," she asked, eyes shining. No matter how many times she asked the question, Pneuma never grew tired of hearing Maribel's stories. Even Logos and Ontos were curious, though Logos refused to show it.
Maribel thought for a moment. The Trinity Processor floated around her. Below them, Saturn spun.
"Let me tell you," Maribel said at last, "about the time Renko and I visited an abandoned shrine said to connect to another world…"
