Chapter 15 - Bloody Tears
Beacon Academy
Ruby didn't consider herself arrogant, she did admit that there were times when she felt overconfident and overdid things. In recent years, she felt like she was quite strong and capable on her own. However, that did not mean that Ruby could not assess danger level to some degree. Ruby had confidence in herself, believing she was the only one able to stop the wyvern at this time.
Yet the beast was still strong and capable of causing so much damage. Not only from it's talons, but from the fact it could drop pools of black liquid. As Ruby saw the wyvern flying around, screeching its voice off, she saw the drops spawning pools of Grimm.
Ruby snarled as she stomped her foot down, causing the ground the shake. At the same time, she started freezing the ground with her crystal powers with the hope of stopping more Grimm from spawning. Ruby was only further motivated to stop this wild animal before it could end any more lives.
'Stupid overgrown lizard!' Ruby angrily thought.
"SCREEEE!" The Wyvern screeched.
"GRAHAAHHH!" Ruby screeched back as she grabbed some debris from a collapsed building.
The Wyvern tried to make it's way towards Vale and further spread its seeds of destruction. When Ruby started throwing pieces of debris at it. The first couple missed entirely, but the Titan refused to let it escape. With one more throw, the Wyvern lost it's balance and nearly fell onto the road. It let out another screech before Ruby tossed another piece of debris straight in the face.
The wyvern hit the ground, but it wasn't defeated yet. In fact, the massive Grimm only became furious as it decided to focus on Ruby. Ruby grabbed another handful of debris from a destroyed building and generated a hammer in her free hand. She then threw the debris at the incoming Wyvern, nicking it but only further annoying it. Once it was close enough, Ruby reeled back her hammer and slammed it across the Wyvern's head, sending it crashing towards the edge of the academy.
'Come here you stupid lizard!' Ruby thought as she tried to smash her hammer onto it.
Only for the Wyvern to move away too quickly. As Ruby slammed her hammer down, the wyvern screeched as it bit down on her leg. Ruby only snarled as she tried ripping the massive Grimm off. Once she did, she gripped it tightly with the intent to crush it's head only for it to claw and bite her arm. Before Ruby had the chance to kill it, the Wyvern bit down on her wrist with enough pressure to snap a part of it off. Forcing Ruby to let it go as she lost her grip in her hands.
The Wyvern quickly escaped and hovered over Ruby who slowly healed her damaged wrist.
With Seryu
Seryu wasn't sure of what to make of the situation standing in front of her. The Grimm were just a chore she had to deal with, but she didn't expect some mutated amalgamations to stand before her. The Super Grimm's sheer height was around Koro's and it can apparently generate to the point that it can spawn an equally strong humanoid shaped Grimm. This really pissed off the brown haired faunus girl as she didn't have time to deal with this.
"Damn it, let's kill them fast Koro! They can't even think!" Seryu yelled.
Koro snarled as he tried swinging his fists at the Grimm only for them to both dodge. The smaller more human shaped Grimm slammed the back of his fists against the ornaments on it's back. Causing the ground to shake under Koro and bury the monstrous canine up to his neck. Koro snarled as he struggled to dig himself out while Seryu herself tried attacking the humanoid Grimm.
Only for the Super Grimm to intercept her by tackling her into the ground. Seryu quickly kicked the large beast but to no avail as it grabbed her by the leg. Seryu then found herself being slammed hard into ground, causing it to crack and making her auburn colored aura flash brightly.
'Damn, these monsters are actually more smart than they look.' Seryu thought as she glared at the pair.
The Super Grimm snarled before letting out a loud screech, causing Seryu to hold her ears while Koro howled in pain. Being a dog faunus, the girl had sensitive hearing due to the ears on her head. As the Super Grimm screeched, more of the wild Grimm roared back before converging on their location.
"What the hell kind of Grimm are you!?" Seryu asked before a new type of Grimm arrived.
Unlike the others, this one was abnormal as it had traits similar to a human but had distorted features. Including wings and talons similar to a bird and before Seryu could react. She was suddenly lifted into the air by the shoulders as the bird like Grimm took her away.
"Let me go!" Seryu screamed before revealing her mechanical arm.
Using the weaponized arm, Seryu shot at the abnormal Grimm and forced it to drop her. The abnormal Grimm was then forced to make an emergency landing elsewhere while Seryu herself was rescued by Koro who had escaped his imprisonment. Seryu hugged the monstrous dog's head as she thanked it for rescuing her.
"Good dog, but we're not done yet. Not until we find Blake, but first." she said as she saw the Super Grimm approach her. "Sic him boy!" She commanded as Koro snarled at the ferocious Grimm.
"GRAAHHH!" The Super Grimm snarled back.
With WBY
The situation wasn't improving, at least not right now. About a half hour had passed since everyone from the arena had arrived and Atlas had begun to combat the onslaught of Grim from within the city limits. Unfortunately, there were very few Atlas soldiers present within Beacon itself and while now would be the perfect time for Ironwood's to show the strength and protection that his military can provide.
The students are now finding the good general's own machines to be working against him and everyone else. Namely the Atlas Paladins that are now surrounding the students.
"Are you for real!? One of these things was already enough trouble!" Yang angrily yelled.
"Well then, we just need to use team work again." Weiss said.
While the Paladins aren't invincible, it took some major strategy and brute force to beat the one Roman used. However, there is the fact that he was likely riding around on a prototype as these Paladins look brand new and clean.
"I guess we'll have to try some new kind of teamwork." Blake said as she could see Ruby fighting the Wyvern in the distance.
"Less chatting, more fighting ladies!" Coco said as she was shooting at the incoming mechs.
However, just as one Atlas Paladin got too close. Everyone was blinded by a heavy streak of lightning hitting the incoming Atlas Paladin, blowing it up as a result. Then from the smoke stood a tall figure with a staff in hand within the smoke from the destruction.
"Sun?" Blake asked, only recognizing one staff user.
"Ah Blake, I'm standing right here." Sun said, appearing from within the crowd of students.
Blake really had wished it was Sun because when the smoke cleared, it revealed a humanoid shaped Grimm who let out an animalistic growl. Everyone quickly aimed their weapons at the humanoid Grimm before watching it jump straight towards another incoming Atlas Paladin. They watched as the Grimm hopped onto the back of the machine and started stabbing the staff into the back and charged a large amount of electricity into it, destroying it as well.
"Everyone regroup, that thing is distracted fighting the robots." Coco ordered.
"Since when can the Grimm control electricity or use weapons for that matter?" Velvet asked nervously.
"We can ask Professor Port later." Coco answered.
Just as everyone was positioning themselves again, the winged Grimm returned but instead of attacking the students. They watched it release an ear piercing scream at another incoming Paladin. However, unlike the Grimm with the staff, this one could clearly notice them but completely ignored their presence.
"Okay, this is just weird. Are the Grimm defective or something?" Yang asked, sounding very confused.
Weiss shook her head, "This is definitely weird. I mean, Grimm can sometimes enter fights with predatory animals when provoked but these two are deliberately attacking the machines." she said.
"If I can throw this out there, but is there really anything wrong with the Grimm fighting something that trying to kill us?" Sun asked.
As Sun gave Weiss his opinion, they heard some screaming in the sky. They watched as a Nevermore was carrying away May from Team BRNZ. However, before it could escape, the winged Grimm soared into the sky and released a sonic screech at the Nevermore. The Nevermore was forced to drop May before the winged Grimm quickly decapitated it.
As for May, she was sure her life was about to end as she fell towards the pavement of the ground. Only to be denied that fate when the winged Grimm grabbed her and started slowly descending to the ground and dropped May from a more safer proximity. May was then pulled into safety as the students watched the winged Grimm shriek once more before joining the other abnormal Grimm in the fight.
"Did that Grimm just save her?" Velvet asked.
"These Grimm aren't like the others." Fox said despite being blind. "It's like they aren't concerned with us." he said.
"It's better they turn on their kind than on us but can we trust them?" Coco asked.
"Guys, I know it's risky but… maybe we should work with them or at least fight without worrying about them." Velvet suggested.
Coco looked surprised, "Vel, are you telling me you want to recruit some Grimm?" she asked.
"Well, not exactly but it's better than fighting them. They're a lot more tough compared to the regular batch." Velvet said.
"We are also outnumbered now that Atlas' own tech has turned against us." Sun pointed out.
Just as Sun said that, a massive crystal like spear crashed in between the students and the incoming Atlas Paladins. Everyone either took cover or shielded their eyes from the dust fog that came from the impact. They looked at the direction of where the attack came from and saw Ruby growling at the machines before focusing on the wyvern again.
"I'm guessing you want to recruit the giant too?" Yatsuhashi asked his teammate.
"I think everyone is calling that a Titan." Coco said as she raised up her sunglasses.
Just as everyone got reorganized, Jaune noticed someone was missing from the group. This didn't go unnoticed by some of his fellow students.
"What's wrong vomit boy?" Yang asked.
"It's Pyrrha, she was here just before that thing threw a spear at the robots." Jaune answered as he looked around.
"Did she get separated from the group?" Blake asked.
"I doubt she ran away, Pyrrha isn't a coward." Yang said before firing at an incoming Atlesian Knight.
"I'm going to look for her." Jaune said before watching an incoming Beowulf lunging towards him.
Only to watch it get cleaved in half by Adam who appeared behind it. Blake looked at Adam with fear in her eyes and prepared to jump in front of Jaune to defend him. Only to watch as Adam changed his stance.
"I doubt Pyrrha moved too far. This area is already cramped so she probably followed a couple of others." Adam said.
"Thanks Adam, I owe you." Jaune said before looking around for Pyrrha.
For a brief moment, Adam could see the anxiety in Blake's stance. He wasn't the type to know people's emotions just by reading their stances, yet it felt like Blake's movement was something common to him. Adam shook his head and ignored his fellow faunus, he didn't have time to deal with her distrust.
'I just hope Naruto isn't too far from here either.' Adam said, not fully aware of how close his teammate really is.
With Jiraiya
The eldest Schnee had landed at the center of city and immediately got out of his personal aircraft. Once there, the first thing he saw were the guardians that Ironwood had so much faith in. A group of Atlesian Knights were marching down the road he was on.
"Damn it James, the one time your paranoia could save us and it ends up being our undoing!" Jiraiya exclaimed as he drew his trident.
The automatons immediately opened fire on Jiraiya who quickly ran away from their line of fire. Once he was close enough, he tossed his weapon at the group of robots and impaled three of them. The remaining few continued to fire at Jiraiya who kept dodging their attacks until he came close enough. Luckily for the Schnee, these machines were very stiff and didn't move too quickly in close quarters.
"This might hurt." Jiraiya said as he created a Glyph under his feet.
He avoided a punch to his head from an Atlesian Knight and slammed his palms onto the Glyph. Where his hands were encased with ice, giving him a bit more strength in his palms.
As Jiraiya predicted, he didn't have too much comfort punching metal. The Atlesian Knights were stiff and slow, but they were much more durable compared to a normal person or their preceding models. Regardless, Jiraiya put much effort into landing several kicks and blows onto each Atlesian Knight. While a few still functioned after taking heavy hits. Jiraiya was still able to make them hit the ground, causing them to have difficulty standing up.
"Oh no you don't!" Jiraiya said as he grabbed his trident and began impaling them all. "I better get moving before the real threat gets here." he said before hearing a loud roar.
Jiraiya turned around and saw a trio of beowulfs dashing towards him. As he prepared for them, he saw them being crushed by a massive pile of debris coming from the sky.
"I guess luck is on my side." Jiraiya muttered.
"Luck has nothing to do with it, Jiraiya." said Glynda Goodwitch as she stepped forward.
"I'm glad to see you too Glynda. Let me guess, you were able to sense me because of fast your heart beats." Jiraiya said with a grin.
Glynda sighed, "I do not have time for your insistent flirting." she said. "Anyways, where are the students. You mentioned that you picked them from the arena didn't you?" she asked.
"I dropped them off at the academy. They should be reuniting with their friends and any other remaining staff." Jiraiya said.
"By themselves?" Glynda asked with wide eyes.
"Glynda, remember that these aren't just kids. They are soldiers, they were never meant to see this kind of horror but they are trained to be ready for any situation." Jiraiya explained.
Glynda understood that, it was her duty as a teacher for all students in the academy to be ready for anything. There was no for sure way to know what could happen, but they are disciplined and taught to withstand and prepare for whatever danger awaits them. Still, that did little to calm Glynda down as she felt concerned for them.
"Jiraiya, you left them alone. Communication is down and there's no assurance that..."
"Glynda! These are your students!" Jiraiya practically shouted. "If you had no faith in your own teaching. Then I wouldn't have left them on their own. Those kids know what they are doing." he said.
Before Glynda could saw anything, she heard the roar of an incoming ursa. Just as she turned around, a Glyph appeared under the large Grimm and several spikes of ice protruded from under it. The ursa howled in pain before quickly dissolving afterwards.
"Don't think Glynda, act!" Jiraiya said.
Glynda shook her head, "You are right, I tend to forget myself." she said before raising her crop in the air. "They are my students, I know they will try their best but that does not mean I will ignore their safety." she said before manipulating the gravity around various pieces of debris.
"That's my girl!" Jiraiya said.
The two then watched as several Atlas Paladins came rolling towards another street. Just as the two tried to intercept Ironwood's toys, they were all subsequently destroyed by a massive wall of ice. Jiraiya blinked several times before looking up on the roof to see Esdeath of all people.
"That crazy woman is still here?" he asked.
"Crazy or not, we need everyone." Qrow said, suddenly appearing by their side as well.
"I'm surprised that the town isn't destroyed with her around." Jiraiya said.
Qrow just sighed, "She's not a traditional jarhead, but that doesn't mean she's not capable of leading Jimmy's drones." he said.
Unlike with Winter, Qrow would never directly confront Esdeath. Mainly because she's everything Winter is not and putting aside the woman's love for fights, Esdeath has an intense personality. She's not an easy person to mess with like Winter and Qrow only stepped in to interrupt her fight because it was Ruby who was in danger.
At the same time, while Esdeath was leading her forces and destroying the waves of machines and Grimm. She couldn't help but watch Ruby in the distance, feeling some sense of annoyance. Like a little kid standing in front of a candy store and wanting the sweet treats that are behind the glass display. The Atlas soldier would have to remain patient if she wanted to have another confrontation with Ruby, especially where she could force the girl to reveal her true power.
'Soon girl, first I have to deal with the annoying vermin.' Esdeath said as she saw several Razorwings in the sky.
Esdeath took a few steps back and started running to the edge of the roof she was on. On her last step, she leaped over the building and quickly slashed at the air in quick succession before landing on another building. Esdeath looked behind her back and saw several Razorwings fall and dissolve before they hit the ground. She let out an annoyed scoff as she looked back at Ruby who was grabbing onto the Wyvern.
'Take your time assessing it, but then kill immediately. There's no purpose in fighting hollow animals.' Esdeath thought coldly.
After many years of training and fighting to survive since her childhood years. Esdeath has lost all sense of satisfaction for killing Grimm. Sure it felt nice to complete a mission and cleaning up a bit, but it felt pointless in the end. The Grimm don't really feel anything and once they die, they turn into metaphorical pixie dust. That is why Esdeath has a preference to spar with real people because there was some excitement to gain from that.
Oh how Colonel Esdeath Partas loathed the Grimm.
With Pyrrha
The so called, "Invincible Girl", far from being a coward but she was definitely not invincible either. Despite being initially weakened from the fact that she was forced to kill Penny. Pyrrha was given the chance to redeem herself, but she would have preferred to stay with her classmates and help them. Instead, Professor Ozpin found her and told her it was time.
What no one aside from the few closest to Ozpin in his little group was that he was planning on turning Pyrrha into a maiden. One of four individual women on this planet who are capable of utilizing magic. Which was all a part of some big secret that's existed for hundreds of years.
"Quickly Ms. Nikos, we must reach the underground quickly." Ozpin said as he led her to the administration building.
Only to stop when they heard a familiar voice behind them.
"Pyrrha!" Jaune shouted as he chased after them.
Ozpin sighed, "Ms. Nikos, I will allow you to handle this but do so quickly." he said urgently as he entered the building.
"Jaune, what are you doing here?" Pyrrha asked.
"I should be asking you that. Why did you leave everyone behind?" Jaune asked.
Pyrrha bit her lip nervously, "Jaune there's a whole lot that is about to happen. Some of which even I do not fully understand." she said.
"What are you talking about? Are you keeping secrets or something?" Jaune asked, noticing her anxiety. "Pyrrha please tell me. You always told me to be open with you and not be afraid to ask for help. So please be open with me, I can help you as best I can." he said.
Even with this resolve and his improvement in recent months, Jaune could not help. That's at least what Pyrrha believed right now. She felt like a hypocrite and a bad friend, but she cared for Jaune. The problem is that this is one of the times where she had to help herself.
"Look, I will try to explain on the way but not out here." Pyrrha said.
"Why? What could be so important?" Jaune asked.
Unknown to them, they were being spotted by Cinder Fall who saw them and Ruby. Although she could not do anything regarding Ruby. She had to stick with her original plan and chase after Pyrrha who went inside of the main office building with Jaune running after her.
'Another day, Ruby Rose.' Cinder thought as she saw Ruby swinging a hammer at the Wyvern.
With Seryu
Seryu was still having trouble with the Super Grimm. The beast was a lot more intelligent and dangerous compared to every other known Grimm. At leas the one's she was aware of. It didn't help that it spawned multiple mutated humanoid like Grimm to support it.
The White Fang were not much help either as they kept falling.
"What good are you idiots for!? Koro is already putting enough effort on his part!" Seryu angrily yelled.
While Koro dealt with the Super Grimm, the White Fang opened fire on the remaining humanoid Grimm that just glared at them. The humanoid Grimm had amazing reaction speed and avoided the gunfire. Before picking up a discarded pair of knives and slashing at the White Fang members. Many fell and some were forced into using melee weapons.
"What the hell is this thing!?" one of the Fang asked.
"Just keep hitting it! It's not invincible!" another Fang asked.
The humanoid Grimm ducked under a flaming sword and jumped above an axe swing. The odd creature quickly attacked the two aggressors before running towards Seryu. Seryu jumped back and called for Koro to break away from his fight.
"Koro! Judgement of the Ten Heavenly Kings!" Seryu yelled.
Koro growled as several panels opened up from the monster dog's exterior. The humanoid Grimm attempted to punch to the monster dog only for Koro to catch his fist and swing him into the Super Grimm who caught him. The Super Grimm growled as it started spinning in place and launched itself into Koro just as Seryu grabbed a large flail.
Koro caught the Super Grimm and began to squeeze it only for the Super Grimm to fight back with its own strength. Koro barked at the Super Grimm before the creature breathed a stream of green fire into its face. Koro growled in anger as his face was being damaged by the hot flames. Prompting it to bite down on the Super Grimm's head and began chomping on it.
The Super Grimm used all of its strength to lift Koro into the air and rammed it into a nearby rail. Koro refused to let go and continued to squeeze the Super Grimm as he was slammed all over the campus ground.
Meanwhile, Seryu was swinging her flail at the humanoid Grimm who kept avoiding her attacks.
"Just die already you monster! I have goals that can't be interrupted by you!" Seryu yelled furiously before her weapon hit the Grimm in the face. "I have retribution that has to be paid in full! So I don't need you or any other worthless little…"
Seryu found herself being interrupted as the humanoid Grimm caught her flail. Seryu tried to pull her weapon back only to be pulled forward by the Grimm's superior strength.
"Shut the hell up already, you bitch." the humanoid Grimm told her.
"Huh!?" Seryu asked with side eyes.
Seryu then found herself being thrown in air and crashing through the window of a building. Seryu was shocked by the sight of a Grimm speaking but she was more furious that it insulted her. Once she recovered, she looked around but found herself distracted again. At least this time, it was by one of her targets.
"Blake!" Seryu yelled as she ran after the cat faunus.
The humanoid Grimm narrowed his eyes as he followed after Seryu.
Meanwhile, with Roman
While not the true mastermind or even a genius who planned for the downfall of the city and its protectors. Roman would never admit it or even believe it, but he was more of a lacky in this case. Just an opportunist taking many risks for a potentially high reward. Assuming there's anything he could collect when this insanity ends.
With the sound of a click hitting the deck of one of the Atlas Airships he was on. Roman paraded around while praising himself on a good job done.
"Neo, my only concern is dealing with the vermin afterwards. Because then I'm not sure if we will get our pay if we have to scavenge anything left." Roman said but Neo shrugged.
Roman carefully made his way near the edge of the deck and looked at the fine mess around him. With hundreds, possibly close to thousands of Grimm making their way to Veil. It sounded insane and beyond anything a even a criminal as infamous as Roman could attempt. The man wasn't stupid and still knew the risks.
"I would like to thanks James Ironwood for allowing his own desire to be in control to take over. However, if any awards will be given away, they will be given to you Neo. For another satisfying series of acting roles." Roman said proudly.
Neo smiled as she did a bow as Roman gave her a small round of applause. However, Roman didn't feel completely satisfied. Maybe he was petty or something, but he could not shake off this annoying nagging feeling.
"I should be satisfied, but I can't help but feel this annoying feeling. Like I have that this monkey on my back." Roman said with a loud sigh.
Neo looked confused and gestured for Roman to explain so she could hear him out.
Roman pinched the bridge of his nose as he spoke, "You know who I wish was here? That bratty girl with red hood and the stupid mask." he said.
Neo just stood there, looking confused.
"That brat is always getting in the way. First there was my attempted heist where I swear, I hit her directly in the face with explosive." Roman said making Neo look uncomfortable for a moment. "Then there's the time her friends were spying on me and she directly blew up my the Paladin I was in. After that, she brought her friends to ruin everything with the train. Not that I wasn't prepared afterwards, but you get the idea!" he exclaimed.
Neo winced but seemed to understand Roman's stress. She then saw Roman look down at the Titan as it was being clawed at by the Wyvern.
"Oh and now we have giant monsters. Giant monster!" Roman said, stressing out his point. "Look, it even has that stupid bobbed hairstyle like Red does. Is it bobbed? I don't know what that style is called. Also, is it me or does she have those same colored eyes? Maybe I'm just seeing..."
*CRACK*
During Roman's ramblings, the airship was suddenly hit by one of the crystal spears. With the amount of force applied by Ruby, a chunk of the starboard side of the ship was hit. Roman lost his balance and began to slide off until Neo grabbed his arm and stabbed her umbrella's blade onto the deck. Neo held onto Roman with all of her strength as they desperately tried to climb back up.
"That stupid... whatever it is, is also on my list!" Roman said as he tried to climb up.
Before Roman could get to safety, the airship was hit again by another spear. This time, the spear hit the engines and destroyed a few on impact. With no present functioning crew available, the airship would begin to fall back down to the surface. Even worse, Roman lost his grip on Neo's hand once he felt the impact of the second hit.
"Stupid monster!" Roman cursed.
Neo gasped as she let go of the deck and free falled towards Roman. She intended to catch Roman and use her umbrella to get them down to safety.
"Neo, I don't mean to raise my voice at you, but could you fall down faster!?" Roman asked frantically.
Neo threw her arm at Roman in attempt to reach him. With every inch she made, she got closer only to be knocked out of the way by a Griffin. Neo began to spin around wildly before using her umbrella to slow down her descent. She then watched as Roman fell passed her, but as she prepared to fall after him again. Neo watched in horror as a Griffin snatched Roman with its mouth.
Had Neo been able to us her voice, all that could be heard would be her screams. As Neo watched the only person she cared for was taken away by the monsters of this planet. Neo felt her heart stop and it all became silent as she slowly fell back down the surface. Watching Ruby in the distance, gazing upon her large form as she saw Ruby throw spear after spear and barely scratching the Wyvern each time.
Perhaps Neo had lost her mind because of the trauma she felt losing Roman merely a minute ago, but she started to agree with him. Neo could see some of the similarities that Roman pointed out. Even if that wasn't really Ruby, it was enough of a motivator for Neo have an outlet for her rage.
'Ruby Rose, you took Roman away from me.' Neo thought bitterly.
With The Super Grimm
The Super Grimm continued to slug it out with Koro as the two growled at each other. Eventually, Koro bit down on the arm of the Super Grimm and ripped it out with it's massive row of teeth. The Super Grimm stumbled back before being punched several feet across the ground. The Super Grimm clutched it's arm before regenerating a brand new one. However, Koro wasn't done as the wild beast growled at him and threw a barrage of fast punches at the Super Grimm.
The Super Grimm dodged the attack and watched as Koro left behind a small crater. Before Koro could focus on his target, the Super Grimm clasped it's hands together and caused the ground to sink under Koro. Resulting in the wild canine to sink until only it's head was visible.
Koro angrily barked at the Super Grimm as it recovered. Just before Koro could try and dig himself out of the hole. The Super Grimm released a massive wave of green flames onto Koro. Breathing enough to completely burn the flesh off of the dog's face until it started to quiet down. Once the fires stopped, the Super Grimm stepped back and watched as Koro started to rest for a moment.
Just as the Super Grimm prepared to finish off the creature. Koro turned red and became more feral looking as he dug himself out of the hole and regenerated it's flesh. Feeling only blind fury, Koro charged at the Super Grimm again only to be hit with another wave of fire that burned the canine's flesh, but did nothing to stop it's rampage. Resulting in the Super Grimm getting punched through a nearby wall.
The Super Grimm quickly rolled away as Koro tried to punch his head off. Koro looked over his shoulder and tried to punch the Super Grimm again only for a block of wood to take it's place. Koro let out an angry roar that made the ground shake before repeatedly punching the ground until he spotted the Super Grimm again.
This time, finding himself being sandwiched by two large stones that tried to crush him. The wild dog slowly began to break free of the stones only to be hit with another massive wave of green fire. Koro continued to angrily bark as it ignored the damage it took.
'Come on! Come on! Just die you stupid mutt!' the Super Grimm angrily thought.
Koro continued to bark until the stones were shattered and he raced after the Super Grimm. Only to end up hitting another block of wood that appeared out of nowhere. However, had it been smart, it would have noticed the various sealing tags on the wood that were lit on fire.
Which resulted in Koro stumbling backwards as it took a direct explosion to the face. Using the brief distraction, the Super Grimm began to spin around like a wheel and rammed itself into Koro's back, knocking him onto the ground. The Super Grimm then generated a black blade made of green fire and slashed at Koro's back, causing a lot of blood to explode while it was down.
Koro gripped the ground and turned around to try and punch the Super Grimm. Only to miss and take a massive punch to the face.
'That's it! You wanted me to get pissed!? This is what you get!' The Super Grimm thought before delivering many quick blows that sent the dog staggering back.
Koro tried to deliver more quick punches only to miss and take another kick to the face. The Super Grimm then avoided another punch that hit the ground where he stood. Where he then jumped into the air and started spinning rapidly towards Koro who crossed his arms to defend himself. Koro barked the whole time before pushing the Super Grimm back.
'How much can this thing take?' the Super Grimm wondered before unleashing another wave of fire onto Koro.
Koro rushed through the fire barely missed the attack as it destroyed another pile of wood. Giving the Super Grimm another chance to attack from behind. Where it started charging up a black sphere surrounded in red energy.
'I really need to name this spiraling sphere.' the Super Grimm thought before shoving the sphere into Koro's back.
Koro went skidding towards the courtyard. Where he quickly tried to rush at Naruto again. Only to feel a pair of swords cut off his arms. The dog nearly fell as he stumbled and tried to regenerate his arms. Only to see Squall in the air and about to attack him again.
"Renzokuken!" Squall yelled out.
Koro tried to block the attack only to hear another blade from behind him.
"Moonslice!" Adam said.
Koro couldn't react to both attacks as he felt a heavy slash onto his exposed back. Which had enough force to break his guard for a moment. Allowing Squall slash his Gunblade down onto the creature.
Koro cried out in pain but didn't find the chance to recover again. As Josuke arrived with his arms covered in armor from his semblance.
"Shining Diamond! DORARARARA!" Josuke yelled as he repeatedly punched Koro with great speed.
The impact of all three attacks caused Koro to take enough damage to where he could barely move. As an added measure, Adam delivered a few heavy slashes to Koro's chest which allowed Josuke to punch a hole into it's stomach.
"I knew it! It's not a real animal!" Josuke exclaimed as he could feel some mechanical parts.
Suddenly, Koro was reduced to his base form as his lower torso was disassembled. Leaving behind a whimpering dog that could barely move. The group ignored the whines as they didn't trust Koro to have suddenly become harmless. However, they did focus on the Super Grimm as it stared at them with Adam setting Wilt into gun mode as Blush.
Squall also kept a tight hold of his weapon but could hardly feel anything around the Super Grimm. The Super Grimm just stared at them for a moment while Squall's suspicions started to calm down. The only hostility that he felt was coming from himself as the Super Grimm didn't treat them as threats.
"What is this thing?" Josuke asked as he stayed in defensive position.
"It's a Grimm, but it looks like a mutated Beowulf." Adam said.
Adam was about to answer when something about the Super Grimm's red eyes caught him off guard. It wasn't like he could suddenly read minds or understand what the creature was thinking. It felt so familiar, not like the typical feeling where he recognized what a Grimm looks like. It was as if there was this unique distinction he felt about this type of Grimm.
Squall mentally denied a similar feeling but the Super Grimm looked like it was trying to avoid conflict. Not like older Grimm that learned and became more smart as to better fight huntsmen. Rather, it was like the Super Grimm was capable of thought and has no desire to battle them.
"It could be trying to trick us, but I don't see why it would attack everything except us." Squall said.
"Then what do we do? Let it run free?" Josuke asked.
"Might as well." Squall said.
"You can't be serious." Josuke said.
"It's your call, but I can't sense anything from it. My semblance worked on even the most simple minded Grimm but this thing doesn't want to fight us." Squall explained.
'I don't.' The Super Grimm thought.
As it thought, the Super Grimm looked at the other Grimm in the distance. As well as gunfire from the White Fang that were still a threat. The Super Grimm growled and began to run towards the two forces.
"It's running! Do we follow it?" Adam asked.
Josuke bit his lip, "We can't focus on it right now. The whole academy is under attack." he said. "Even then, we still have to find Naruto." he said.
The three teammates ran while Adam started to feel very anxious.
"Naruto can't be dead, can he? It wouldn't be like him to run either." Adam said.
"He's a bit of an idiot." Squall commented.
"You think he ran ahead on his own? He has done crazy things like jump out of the bullhead." Josuke said.
Squall rolled his eyes, "Just get your orders ready." he said. 'Besides, my partner isn't dead.' he thought.
The thing that hurt about Squall's semblance is not only did he feel hostility towards who had the intention to hurt him. His semblance would also sense hostility in others just because he felt distrust in them. However, the worst part is that he feels pain when someone he actually cares about loses their life. It was probably the worst physical pain as well as emotional pain.
'He's not dead.' Squall mentally repeated.
Meanwhile, the Super Grimm was thinking about how to approach those three later. With his mind racing back to his past.
Flashback, years ago
Naruto knew a lot for his age and it was thanks to all the studies and some early training his parents put him through. With a fair amount of detail as to what dangers to avoid. Especially obvious dangers that he should avoid at all cost. The Grimm being the primary threat as well other things. However, there were some details that needed to be pointed out.
Like the oddities that were the Grimm pits. The small piles of red liquid that spawned the Grimm. Something that would kill humans quickly, but not end their lives painfully.
So when the mystery woman who came to the town arrived. Naruto tried to be open minded like his parents taught him. Yet, as if the woman was some kind of sadist, she threw Naruto into the Grimm pit. It wasn't until a few years later that Naruto knew the woman felt no remorse or concern with trying to kill him. For now, Naruto was lost, confused and hurt.
Unlike exiting a pool and feeling cold and wet from a good swim. Naruto felt like he came out of a pot of boiling water and it seared into his skin. Tears welled up and all he wanted to do was run into his mother's arms. When he stumbled out, his senses were a mess from his vision being blurry to his hearing everything within a hundred meters. Naruto clutched his head as he felt all this pain and the sounds of screaming.
As he stumbled around, the boy made his way to the Belmont estate. Where his hearing was violated by more loud sounds that he couldn't muster. Had Naruto been in a better mental state, he would have heard various sounds of elements crashing from a specific point near his home. Not that it would drive him further away as his home was the safest option for him.
'Mom will make the pain go away.' Naruto thought as he made his way home.
By the time Naruto's vision began to look more clear. He noticed the house looked damaged and felt concerned. Naruto wondered if an accident happened while he met the mysterious stranger. Naruto felt nervous but quickly went inside of his home and found the place to be a mess.
The young boy whimpered as he looked around and saw some paintings and photos had fallen from the walls. He could see the sofa flipped and had a gaping hole. With the recliner and other seats looking shred up along with various claw and teeth marks around the place. Naruto slowly looked around and tried to find his mother when he saw the bayview window in the kitchen had been shattered. Along with more scratches being seen all over the kitchen.
"Mom? Mom!" Naruto called out.
He called out for a few minutes when he heard a loud crack.
"Mom? Is that you?" Naruto asked.
Naruto heard another crash nearby along with a few growls that made him take cover and whimper. The young Belmont was trained at an early age to fight the Grimm. Yet, Naruto could not help but feel afraid as he heard multiple Grimm somewhere. Either outside or in the building somewhere and he was smart enough to recognize that no ordinary human would leave such markings or have big enough teeth to chomp on certain things.
Then it became quiet, Naruto could hear some debris breaking and a loud drop. Naruto winced and looked around before hearing another loud drop outside. The boy took the risk and peaked outside when he saw a familiar shade of red hair with black streaks.
"Mom!" Naruto shouted as he ran to his mother.
Naruto sprinted towards his mother and found her lying on her side. He ran up to her and shook her body.
"Mom, wake up!" Naruto pleaded.
Kushina slowly moved her arm towards Naruto as she turned. Her eyes looked blank and Naruto couldn't see her pupils. In his desperation, Naruto didn't notice the massive wounds around Kushina's abdomen or the nasty injury on her arm. With Kushina's good arm, she reached for Naruto and tried to lie his head against her chest.
"Naruto... my baby..." Kushina muttered.
"Mommy." Naruto whispered.
"I don't... want to leave you..." Kushina said.
"Don't go anywhere mommy." Naruto pleaded.
"Naruto... my little... maelstrom..." Kushina said, gasping for air. "If you can't... find your father... find Summer..." she added.
Naruto started to sniffle as he tried to hold onto his mother. For some reason, he could feel the anguish in Kushina and it hurt more. As if he could feel Kushina's heart beating slowly with every second she breathed.
"Summer... your auntie... find your aunt... she lives... on Patch..." Kushina said.
"Mommy, I don't want to go with auntie." Naruto said, not knowing what was happening.
Kushina tried to look at him as she tried to hold her son with her bloody arm. She did her best to smile as a tear fell down her cheek.
"Naruto, my baby... please listen... your auntie... and your uncle... they will protect you..." Kushina whispered as she held him. "I'll watch you... baby... Maelstrom..." she murmured.
Naruto sniffled as Kushina suddenly felt hollow despite being right next to him.
"Mommy, wake up." Naruto whispered.
As Naruto tried to shake Kushina awake. He had not noticed the remaining creatures of Grimm leaving the building and coming from the town. Many beginning to approach Naruto as he was feeling the worst pain a child could feel.
"Mommy, wake up! I don't wanna go to auntie!" Naruto pleaded.
Naruto had still not realized what happened to Kushina. His initial fear was that Kushina was sending him away for no reason.
"Daddy! Mommy won't wake up!" Naruto shouted as he continued to shake Kushina's body.
Naruto continued to shake and shake, thinking Kushina passed out and was too tired to awaken. As he moved, the Grimm came closer and snarled as they circled him. In time, before Naruto even realized that the monsters of Remnant were surrounding him. The creatures were confused and agitated but did not bother to concern themselves with the human boy. As if he had no significance or importance to them at all.
Unlike wild animals who would munch on corpses or check a body. The Grimm could feel nothing from Kushina as they were sure she had passed away. As for Naruto, they didn't see him as anything more unique than an odd creature. Yet it felt frustrating as they saw him and could not see him the way they saw the other humans.
"Mommy, please wake up. I don't want you to go." Naruto said.
The Grim were about to leave when an Alpha Beowolf stood up and stared into the moon. Many other bipedal Grimm stood up and all the others raised their heads at the sky. As if something special was out there and looking towards them.
"God... is... coming..." an Alpha Beowolf muttered.
End of flashback
Naruto snapped out of his bad memory as he continued to run across the courtyard of the academy. As he ran, he saw Ruby being knocked into a nearby building by the Wyvern. Naruto growled as he considered going after the Wyvern as well but wouldn't what to do without getting in his cousin's way.
'What do I even do? My paths are on spread thin and that monster dog took up a lot of energy.' Naruto thought bitterly. 'I would only get in Ruby's way. That creature is probably the strongest Grimm on this planet.' he thought.
Naruto shook his head and tried to think when he heard gunfire. He looked to the other side and saw more members of the White Fang. He looked back at Ruby whose shoulder was being torn into by the Wyvern's jaws. Before Naruto could freak out, Ruby generated another weapon from crystals and smashed it across the Wyvern's face. Sending it crashing against the courtyard.
'Ruby will be fine. She's not a baby anymore, but I'll be back for her.' Naruto thought as he chased after the White Fang.
With Blake
During the destruction, Blake found herself getting separated from the rest of the group. When she found several White Fang shooting at a few other students. As she dispatched them, Blake suddenly felt a great sense of danger. When she avoided a sword that almost took her head off.
"Hi Blake!" Seryu said, acting as if she were the most friendly person ever.
Blake went wide eyed and saw a sword coming from her arm. She looked horrified as Seryu began swinging her mechanical extension at Blake who tried to block each attack.
"Blake, it's not nice to avoid people. I bet you don't even have any friends given your personality." Seryu said before shoving her back.
Blake stumbled backwards before jumping away from another slash. Seryu started having enough of Blake's nimble abilities and raised her other arm. Where it changed into a grappling hook-like device. Where it fired a hook straight through Blake who turned to ice and shattered.
"Blake, you are starting to annoy me. It's no wonder people don't like you." Seryu said as she began to look for Blake. "You barely talk, but when you do, you get into arguments. That's not even taking in that you're a hypocrite that runs away." she said.
Blake hid behind some tables that were flipped over. As she took a better position, she could slowly hear Seryu becoming more unhinged. It was something that scared Blake and another reminder about why the White Fang isn't what she thought it was anymore.
"You know Blake, I can never understand you. Not just because you're quiet and trying to act all cool and mysterious and that crap." Seryu said as her eyes twitched. "No, it's because you talk big but barely do anything. You did so much and all it did was get Adam killed. At least that's what I thought until I saw the TV. So tell me... is there a club full of traitors for me to find!?" she asked.
Just as Blake prepared to ambush Seryu, the dog faunus turned and grinned as her hook shot was replaced by a missile. At the last second, Blake dodged the projectile but as she was inside of a building. The explosion sent her crashing into the ground and landing near Seryu who began to calm down.
"Oh don't worry Blake, I'm not that cold hearted. I just want to catch up before you go away again." Seryu said as she aimed her bladed arm at Blake's face.
Just as Seryu prepared to torture Blake. She heard the loud sound of a gunshot and turned to see Yang flying towards her. Yang screamed at Seryu as her semblance lit up her entire body. Seryu tried to defend herself but took a punch to the face that made her crash into a wall.
"ACK!" Seryu cried out.
As Seryu stood up, she was bombarded with various punched to the face and chest.
"Leave my friend alone you crazy psycho bitch!" Yang yelled as she began to break Seryu's aura defense.
Just as her defense was about to break, Seryu raised up a mechanical arm.
"Number 4!" she shouted.
Yang was then directly hit with a hook, sending her crashing into a table. As she tried to recover, Seryu slashed at her a few times with Yang trying to block the attacks with her gauntlets. Once Yang thought she saw an opening, she tried to fire a shot out of her gauntlet when Seryu smirked.
As the deranged faunus leader dodged the attack at the risk of the shot damaging her hearing. She use the sword in her mechanical arm to hack at Yang's arm, cutting it off around the elbow. It took a few seconds before Yang registered the injury and cried out in anguish.
"So much for your friend, Blake! You're so pathetic, you didn't even come to defend..."
Seryu was cut off by the sound of the humanoid Grimm from earlier busting through the wall. Before Seryu could react, the Grimm lifted her up and rammed her through several pieces of debris and through a wall into another building. Giving Blake a second to grab Yang and escape.
With Ruby
Ruby had enough of the attacks from the Wyvern and noticed her wounds were not healing as quickly. Despite her best efforts, the beast was too difficult to kill. She knew she could do it but it wasn't a stupid animal like lesser Grimm or as reckless as a Nevermore. However, it did have a pattern with how she forced it to fight.
'If I can't catch it, I won't be able to stop it!' Ruby thought.
Ruby took a deep breath before narrowing her eyes at the Wyvern as she saw it flying into the air and swooping back down. With a growl, Ruby ran directly towards the Wyvern who was about to dodge her. When Ruby jumped to the side and grabbed it.
The Wyvern screeched as it tried to pry off Ruby with it's jaw. Only for the girl to glare at it once before before exploding into a massive puff of smoke. Seconds later, Ruby began to fall back down to the ground but used Petal Burst to save herself. Where she began to hover above the rooftops of the academy as the Wyvern collapsed.
Looking back, she could see the Wyvern was trapped in a case of her crystal. With several fragments of her crystal breaking apart on impact as it landed.
'That's the best I could do for now.' Ruby thought before moving forward.
That's when she saw Weiss along with JAS. She floated directly towards her friend and adoptive brother's teammates.
"Ruby!" Weiss called out.
"Weiss, where's Naruto and everyone else?" Ruby asked.
"I got separated Yang and Blake. The White Fang started attacking us while we were fighting the Paladins and Grimm." Weiss explained.
"And then some massive Beowolf appeared and these other Grimm hybrids appeared." Josuke said.
Ruby began to feel nervous as she had an idea as to where Naruto was. However, she didn't say anything as now was a bad time and place.
"We don't know where Naruto is, but Squall thinks he's still somewhere around here." Josuke said.
"This isn't like him though. He just helped us for a bit and ran head first towards the Grimm when the massive Beowolf appeared." Adam added.
Squall stayed silent as he was still thinking about what he felt when he faced the Super Grimm. Ruby started thinking that Squall was becoming suspicious and wasn't sure how far his Danger Sense would let him feel when it came to others he didn't see as a threat.
"Then we better..."
Before Ruby said anything, she received a call from Jaune. She groaned as she answered the scroll.
"Jaune, what is it? We're in the middle of..."
"Ruby, I don't know where you are but I had to call someone!" Jaune frantically said. "I can't explain everything, but Pyrrha she's in danger! I know she's tough, but there's this girl after her and she's got these weird powers that remind me of Naruto's own abilities!" he explained.
"Wait, what? What do you mean?" Ruby asked before putting the scroll on speaker.
As far as Ruby was concerned, no one else possessed chakra or a similar power. Not unless there was more Belmonts running around somewhere.
"There's this woman who wants this power that Pyrrha was given by professor Ozpin! I tried to call Naruto first, but he isn't answering! So I called the first person I saw on my list!" Jaune explained. "Just please find anyone who can help and make it to the tower! I can't explain everything right now because Pyrrha shoved me into a locker and rocketed me away!" he added.
"That last part sounded depressing." Squall commented.
Adam shook his head, "How are we going to reach the tower?" he asked.
"Maybe I can use Crazy Diamond and launch you all up there." Josuke suggested.
The tower was about a couple hundred feet away. Josuke thought he could use the strength portion of his semblance to toss his friends up there. But that was when Weiss spoke up and waved her sword around.
"My Glyphs can help scale the wall. I don't know about you three, but Ruby could move up there fast enough to reach Pyrrha first." Weiss said.
"Perfect." Josuke said.
A minute later, Weiss got to work on her Glyphs before Josuke lifted Ruby and threw her high into the air. With Petal Burst, Ruby floated towards the wall as Weiss' Glyphs helped her scale the wall. Leaving the Schnee heiress and company to get to work.
"Okay, I can probably dig my hands into the wall and..." Josuke was cut off by Blake's voice.
"Guys!" Blake shouted as she carried Yang.
"Blake! What happened to Yang!?" Weiss asked frantically.
Blake gently put Yang's body down, "We ran into some trouble. I tried looking for Josuke or anyone else to help but..."
Josuke sighed, "Unless you have the rest of her arm, I can only close the wound and make the pain go away." he said.
Blake silently cursed as Josuke got to work on trying to close the wound. Meanwhile, Yang barely held onto consciousness as she could barely see the blur that was Ruby climbing up the wall.
"Ruby..." Yang murmured.
"Yang, stay awake. Josuke is helping you." Weiss said before looking at the boy. "Would it help if I make some ice?" she asked.
"Just a little, it might relieve the pain." Josuke said before looking at his teammates. "Guys, I don't know where Naruto is but you two should try to go up there and help Ruby if possible." he said.
Adam nodded, "Sure, maybe if we..."
Before Adam could finish, Squall's eyes widened as he felt a sense of dread. He instinctively grabbed Adam and Blake and shielded them with his arms. Josuke looked up and saw a massive white flash and looked horrified.
"Weiss, get down!" Josuke yelled as he shielded Weiss and Yang.
Seconds later, and the massive flash passed by and they heard the sounds of the Grimm screaming in pain. The group stayed still, wondering if it was over when they heard the screaming end and saw many Grimm being reduced into nothing.
"What was that?" Josuke asked.
"Did some kind of bomb go off?" Blake asked.
Adam removed his mask and looked around in confusion. He scratched his head and tried to think of something.
"It came from the tower." Adam said.
"Ruby!" Weiss yelled.
Before anyone moved to help Ruby, Squall gritted his teeth and held his head. Adam grabbed his teammate as he began to stumble and lose his footing.
"What's wrong?" Adam asked.
"It's Naruto, he's nearby and he's... augh!" Squall cried out in pain.
With Naruto
There were few who knew about the Silver Eyed Warriors, a rare breed of people with silver eyes who could kill Grimm with their eyes. The only real information known is taught through myths and legends. All anyone could understand is that they worked like a nuclear bomb that only hurt a select few.
In Naruto's case, despite his origin, the witch who destroyed his home and family practically cursed him. For the eyes of his beloved little sister were what made him feel extreme pain. One that almost felt like the excruciating pain he felt when he was thrown into the Grimm pit. Naruto felt like his skin was being peeled off by extreme heat.
Had anyone saw him in his state, they would have seen the Super Grimm being reduced to a mere juvenile with hair and skin as white as milk, eyes as red blood and sclera as black as night with various markings around his face. Naruto struggled to stand up but the simple flash of light was enough to make him knock on death's door. However, as he stayed conscious, he tried to stand up and used his remaining bit of energy on himself to preserve his life. Not to try and heal, but to take the form of his blond and blue eyed self so no one could assume him to be a threat.
'My paths are all dead too. I better change before I end up like them.' Naruto thought.
Moments later, when Naruto found the strength to look human again. He was spotted by Adam who found him barely conscious on the ground.
"I have no idea where you were or what you were doing." Adam said as he stood over Naruto. "You're still a stranger to me that I don't know much about." he admitted.
Naruto could barely grasp what Adam was saying before being lifted in a fireman's carry.
"But whoever or whatever I was before, doesn't matter. Today, we're two friends that have each other's backs." Adam said as he carried Naruto away.
"Ruby..." Naruto murmured.
"She's fine, we're going to get her." Adam said, thinking he reassured Naruto as he lost consciousness.
Days later
Naruto saw a blond woman standing over him. It took a while to adjust his vision before realizing Glynda was standing by his bedside.
"You are finally awake Mr. Belmont." Glynda said.
It sounded like Glynda was as serious as ever, but Naruto could sense this anxiety and concern in her. Like she was trying to be this strong and serious teacher that everyone knows her to be. The typical strict woman who does not baby anyone. Yet, Naruto felt like he was in a room with a mother who was trying to hide her fear.
"Ms. Goodwitch... where's Ruby?" Naruto asked.
Glynda sighed, "I wish she were as much of a good state as you or Miss Xiao Long." she said.
Naruto turned and saw Yang on a bed near his own and she gave him a sad look. She nudged her head and Naruto turned his head the other way. Where he saw Ruby lying unconscious and looking pale. Morso, the bags under her eyes developed thicker markings. Naruto tried to sit up but his body refused to cooperate.
"Please don't overexert yourself, Mr. Belmont. You may be injured, but you are still my student." Glynda said before losing her seriousness. "Your life and the lives of all my students. They are my first priority." she said as she removed her glasses and wiped her eyes.
Glynda took a deep breath as she saw Naruto slowly falling into despair and confusion. So she decided to give him a light lecture.
"Mr. Belmont, I know the truth. You did not plan to be a huntsmen. That was not your dream, but Ms. Rose's." Glynda said, surprising him.
She was close to Ozpin, of course she would figure that much out.
"However, even though your reasons were just. You are still a huntsmen because of your desire to fight for the safety of others." Glynda said as she put her glasses back on. "I am not the type to gamble, but I cannot help it if I want to place a bet just once... where I place the odds on you and Ms. Xiao Long." she said, letting her emotions free.
TO BE CONTINUED...
NOTE: I know! I suck! If I better organized myself, you would all probably be in reading this and be in volume 7 by now! Regardless, I feel like you all deserve better and I only deserve to see this as a wake up call. So I'm going to make sure that this story updates more than six times per year! Maybe I'll spend an entire month solely on this story and make a bunch of chapters spawn in that entire month.
Regardless, thanks for sticking around. All I can give you all for now is the World of Remnant Secret.
Secret: As it's already stated earlier, Esdeath is a freak with only a desire to fight. Because of her years as a huntswoman and later a soldier, fighting Grimm felt as hollow as their existence. Because of this, she only feels real excitement from fighting real people. Sadly, this desire has left her still feeling bitter. Solely because even thugs like Roman wouldn't entertain her despite the level of skill he has without aura. Thus, Esdeath sees Ruby as an object of her obsession because of the strength within her.
Next Time Chapter 16! Diverging!
