Midoriya made his way into his apartment- tired after spending all afternoon with Kendo. He had a lot of fun, and even learned something interesting.

'So All Might could be a teacher at UA next year.'

Midoriya smiled to himself as his computer started up. He wanted to do some research on recent incidents that All Might had solved, hoping they would have some pattern.

Midoriya: "Hey, I just made it back."

Kendo: "Awesome! Thanks for today-it was a lot of fun."

Midoriya was shocked at her almost instant response.

'Jesus, was she staring at her phone waiting for it?'

Midoriya: "Same, hopefully it's not downhill from here."

Kendo: "I don't think it will be. I mean, you did promise me that I could drive the track next time."

Midoriya put his phone to the side as his computer finished starting up. All it took was one quick search to figure out what he was looking for. In the past five months, over sixty percent of All Might's resolved cases were in Shizuoka. It may have not been anything concrete, but it was odd that he was spending so much time not in Tokyo. With a faint smile, Midoriya got up to change.

Midoriya quickly changed into black techware pants that had green accents, green high tops, his black mask, and a green hoodie. On his dresser, he grabbed a lighter that sparked a green flame that spread across his black mask. Once he was ready he grabbed his phone to make a call.

"Can you bring me in? I might have something."

Moments after Midoriya made the call, a purple and black portal opened in front of him. He passed through it and found himself back in the bar.

"Welcome back, Phoenix. Can I get you anything?"

"I'm good, Kurogiri, I don't think this will take long."

Shigaraki's raspy voice came from a corner table. "Just get it over with. What's so important you felt the need to reach out to us?"

Midoriya sent him a glare. "I thought you'd be curious about any information on All Might."

Shigaraki's eyes narrowed. "Go on."

"A friend of mine said that there's some rumors going around at UA- that All Might could be a teacher there next year."

"Is that all? Just a lousy rumor?"

The TV on the wall turned on and a familiar voice came over the speakers. "Now, now Tomura, I'm sure Phoenix has more than just that."

Midoriya nodded. "Yeah, in the past five months the majority of cases he's resolved have been in Shizuoka. I don't mean major cases, I'm talking about your everyday, run of the mill, incidents you'd run across during a patrol."

Shigaraki still wasn't happy. "That's not enough. We can't go around chasing rumors. We need to know for certain what moves he'll make, so that way we can end him."

"Look I'm not saying it's happening, I'm just saying it seems too convenient to be a coincidence."

"No, you're grasping at straws. Master, I thought you said he'd be useful?"

"He will be and he is. I personally find this development interesting. Having the next generation of heroes trained by the Symbol of Peace sounds like it will be fun."

Shigaraki's eyes widened in surprise. "Master, you can't be serious?"

"I am. All Might isn't as young as he used to be and he's only getting weaker. This seems like a good time for him to start focusing on mentoring. You've given me plenty to think about, Phoenix. I think I'll have to make a call."

Midoriya nodded at the screen. "That's all I had, so if you don't need anything, I'll be heading back. I have an early morning tomorrow."

Shigaraki sighed. "No, we're still trying to raise our numbers so we're not making any moves. If you find anyone that may be helpful, send their information to Giren so he can run their background."

"So the same as usual. Alright I'm leaving- Kurogiri, if you don't mind."

A warp gate opened behind Midoriya. As he turned to leave, the voice from the TV called out to him.

"Phoenix, do you remember anything about those people from that day? Anything at all could prove valuable."

"All I remember is a pair of golden eyes. The other two were too burned to be identified."

"I see, that's a shame."

Midoriya looked back at the TV one last time before walking through the portal. Once again he was in his apartment. With a deep sigh, Midoriya extinguished the flames from his mask before going outside. The city at night was beautiful, but he was unable to enjoy it as he thought about the implications of his actions.

'I guess I really am a villain, now.'

A few days later, Midoriya- once again, found himself sitting in Eri's room. It had only been two weeks since he officially started his babysitting position, but a lot had changed faster than he had expected. Eri now spent most of her days either drawing, or playing with some of the toys he had bought her. She even started to wear the clothes he had bought her, instead of the "clothes" Kai had bought for her. The biggest change was that anytime Midoriya walked in, Eri was excited to see him- the innocence of a child was truly beautiful. That being said, Midoriya was getting tired of spending the majority of his time in the same room. Finally having everyone, he decided to pose a question.

"Hey Eri, want to go out for a while?"

The colored pencil she was holding stopped as she turned around, confused. "Like… outside of the room?"

Midoriya shook his head with a smile. "No, I meant outside as in under the sun."

Her body started to tense up. "But… I'm not allowed outside like that."

"It's fine, I talked to Kai and as long as I'm with you, it's fine."

Eri stopped to think for a minute, it was clear she wasn't sure what to do. Ever since she was out under Kai's watch she was kept under lock and key, and now- for the first time in years, she had a chance to get out. It was nerve wracking, but, eventually, she was able to give Midoriya a silent nod. With a smile, he stood and put on his mask before taking her hand.

The two of them walked down the street at a slow pace, Midoriya knew exactly where they were going to end-up, but he wanted Eri to enjoy the sun as much as possible. That being said, her enjoying the sun was mainly her clinging to the back of his leg, trying to hide from people. Even with her trying to hide, her face still was in awe whenever no one was around. Midoriya couldn't help but smile at the awestruck look on her face, he hoped she could always be this happy.

"Hey, you two, what are you doing out here!?"

Midoriya sighed as he turned sound. 'I was worried this could happen.'

When Midoriya fully turned around he was met with a familiar face, said face also gave him a surprised look.

"Oh, it's you again. Have you been watching out for those dangerous corners?"

Midoriya shrugged playfully. "I haven't had any more encounters, so I'd say I've been doing fine, Bubble Girl."

She gave him a smile before looking down at Eri who was standing behind him. "So, is this your little sister?"

Midoriya shook his head, while placing a hand on Eri's head. "No, this is Eri, she's my niece."

She crouched down to get eye level with Eri. "Hey there Eri, it's nice to meet you."

Eri gripped Midoriya's pants tighter as she hid fully behind him. Bubble Girl sulked as Midoriya apologized.

"Sorry about that, she's really shy."

"It's fine, I get it."

He didn't believe her since her expressions betrayed her words. Thinking it would be best to get her out of her funk, Midoriya quickly changed the topic.

"So, why did you stop us?"

Bubble Girl seemed to instantly perk up. "Oh right, I was going to ask why the two of you aren't in school? It's a weekday and classes haven't let out yet."

Midoriya gave her a confident smile. "Oh that's simple, I'm a part of an online curriculum that does virtual meetups throughout the week. As for Eri, she doesn't start till next year, so we're just enjoying the time we have."

Bubble Girl narrowed her eyes while rubbing her chin. "Well alright, just be careful some people will think you're playing hooky then the police might get involved."

Midoriya laughed casually. "If that happens, I'll just tell them that I explained everything to Bubble Girl and she can explain the details."

Bubble Girl gasped. "Don't do that- Sir is already overloading my work load, that's the last thing I need."

Midoriya raised an eye at her. "Sir? Your boss makes you call him Sir?"

She shook her head. "No, no, no his name is Sir Nighteye, but we all just call him Sir for short."

Midoriya nodded in understanding. "Oh, yeah that makes sense."

As the two of them carried on their conversation, Eri began to become uncomfortable. It was subtle at first, but soon Midoriya felt a constant tug on his pant leg. When he looked down he saw Eri fidgeting behind him.

"I'm sorry, Bubble Girl, but we should go since Eri is getting a little antsy."

She waved her hand with a smile. "I completely get it, you two stay safe."

With that Midoriya left, leaving Bubble Girl to finish her patrol. As she walked through the streets she came to a realization.

'You know, I never got his name.'

While Bubble Girl was realizing that she had never asked Midoriya what his name was, he and Eri continued to walk down the street. Midoriya knew exactly where they were going, but Eri was lost. Even though she was scared and nervous, she never asked any questions until they reached their destination.

"What's this?"

"This is where I stay, Eri. I figured we could hang out here for the day instead of your room."

Eri stood there nervously-not sure how exactly to answer; although, when Midoriya started making his way inside, she quickly followed.

While the inside was nothing to write home about from Midoriya's perspective, to Eri it was amazing. She slowly walked around the room with wide eyes, taking everything in. The balcony that overlooked the street was her favorite, even if it was a little scary for her.

As Eri searched the apartment, Midoriya watched her with a smile. He figured this is what it must feel like to have a little cousin or sister. When Eri had sufficiently searched the apartment, she came back to find Midoriya on the couch with his laptop and a plate of apple slices next to a coloring book.

Midoriya looked up to see her staring at the items on the coffee table. "I got those for you so enjoy them."

Eri quickly made her way to the table and sat on the floor. "Thank you."

"Just don't make a mess."

"Ok."

Once again, Midoriya was shocked at how fast she had warmed up to him. In just two weeks time she went from being terrified of him to hiding behind him when she was scared. It was mind boggling that a child that had gone through so much, could easily trust people. As much as he wanted to ask, now wasn't the time, he needed to focus on the hunch he was following.

On his laptop was a page that gave information about Sir Nighteye and his agency. The agency was small, only three people worked there, yet it was extremely efficient. On the surface it seemed to be as if it was mere coincidence that he had run into someone from his agency twice in almost the same area, but that wasn't the case.

Rumors had been going around the hideout that someone was watching the place. That in itself wasn't strange for a Yakuza hideout, but something about it felt different this time. At first Midoriya had thought they were just paranoid, but after running into Bubble Girl the first time a seed of curiosity had been planted.

After the first encounter, Midoriya had begun to be more observant. Whenever he had free time in his apartment, he'd watch the roads leading to the hideout from his balcony. Over the first week, he noticed a few patterns and one of those involved Bubble Girl. Twice a week, she would patrol this area. That alone wasn't weird, the weird part was that she was constantly checking alleyways and looking over her shoulder as if she was checking to see if she was being followed.

Even though none of this proved anything, it was enough to leave a weird feeling in his gut, and if there was one thing he learned while working with Shie Hassaikai, it was to trust your gut.

At some point while Midoriya was lost in thought Eri had gotten curious and crawled on the couch to look at the screen as well. When Midoriya realized she had moved, he gave her an odd look.

"Everything alright, Eri?"

"What are you doing?"

"Not much, just looking up some information about the agency that hero we met earlier works for."

Eri squinted at the screen as she attempted to sound out letters. Midoriya looked at her in complete bewilderment.

"Eri, do you not know how to read?"

Her head dropped and she shook her head.

"What about writing?"

She shook her head again. Soft sniffles could be heard from her. Midoriya began to rub his temples. Once again, his job had just gotten more complicated.

'Kai, did you seriously plan on not teaching her anything? You really were going to keep her locked away her whole life.'

Taking a deep breath, Midoriya sat up. "Alright Eri, I'm gonna teach you how to read and write. So first things first, I want you to work on copying the alphabet."

Midoriya pulled up an image of the alphabet on his laptop and set it on the coffee table. Eri sat on the floor and with a colored pencil did her best to copy each letter. As Midoriya watched he shook his head in disbelief.

'Babysitter and teacher. What's next, prime minister?'

Eri slowly copied each letter and showed it to Midoriya. It was sloppy at best, but not bad for a first attempt.

"Very good Eri, try it again, but really focus on making it neat while I go make a call."

Eri nodded, feeling motivated by his praise. While she worked Midoriya stepped onto the balcony to make a call.

"What do you want?"

"I need a raise."

"Why do you need a raise?"

"Eri doesn't know how to read or write, so I'm teaching her."

"That's your own choice, I never asked you to do that."

"Dammit Kai, you seriously had no intentions of teaching her anything. It's a miracle she even knows how to speak."

"How many times do I have to tell you it's Overhaul and if that's all you needed I'm hanging up, we're almost at a breakthrough."

"About that, you should be careful, I'm pretty sure the hideout is being watched by heroes."

Kai's voice became serious. "I see, why don't you stir up some problems to get them off of us."

"I will, on one condition."

Kai sighed exasperated by the conversation. "Fine, you can have a raise."

"Understood, I'll have it taken care of by the end of the week."

"You never disappoint when push comes to shove."

"If you're that worried just call or text him."

"Don't you think I know that? I was asking if you think it's appropriate."

"Why would a friend asking if they were ok be inappropriate?"

"I don't know, it just feels weird."

"You're the only weird thing here, Kendo."

"Wow… that's hurtful… especially coming from you, Amajiki."

"… I'm sorry."

Kendo sighed trying to calm down. "No it's fine, I just don't understand why this is so complicated."

"You probably like him."

"I do not! I've known him for a month."

"That means nothing. People started going out in some classes here within the first week."

"They sound like a bunch of husseys."

"There might be some truth to that, but not everyone is like that."

"But, still, there's no way."

"Do you get excited whenever you make plans with him?"

"Yeah, but everyone does when they make plans with friends."

"Do you find yourself breaking into a smile whenever you get a message from him?"

"I don't think so…"

"Have you ever found yourself thinking about him to the point you zone out about everything else?"

"… Can I get a new question?"

Amajiki sighed into his phone. "Look Kendo, only you know what you're feeling, all I can do is give you an outside perspective. You're going to have to figure this out on your own. Just don't let it get in the way of your dreams."

"It may not have been what I was hoping for, but thanks, Amajiki. You gave me something to think about."

"It's no problem. Now, I have to go before Fat Gum makes me talk to people while on patrol."

The line went dead and Kendo laughed to herself. She always found it funny how nervous he was around people he didn't know, but if you were a good friend of his he could talk with ease. Since they had become friends at a younger age, they knew a lot about the other and would always try giving the other advice when needed, despite the age gap. They always told the other what they needed to hear in any situation, that fact alone made Kendo really think about everything.

'He's just a friend and nothing more so there's no reason for me to be worried about sending him a text or calling him. It's actually the opposite, it would be weird if a friend didn't check on you if you were in the area of a villain attack.'

With a nod Kendo took her phone out and pulled up her messaging app. Midoriya's and her conversation history was near the top. All she had to do was click his name and start typing, but her fingers betrayed her. They hovered over his name frozen, refusing to move an inch. With an annoyed huff Kendo fell back on her bed to stare at the ceiling.

'Do I like him? I mean sure he's been a big help with my training, he said I'd make a great hero, and I enjoy spending time with him, but is there anything more than that? Sure he's totally my type with the bad boy aura, but is actually a good guy at heart. His taste in hobbies is a big plus, since we have something to always talk about. As for his looks- he's not a model, but he's certainly not average, I can tell just from training with him that he's got plenty of muscle. Also the diamond pattern his freckles make on his checks is adorable. But just because I think all that doesn't mean I like him.'

While Kendo was internally debating what her feelings were for Midoriya her phone went off. The sudden ring brought her back to her senses with a jump. She was slightly annoyed that her train of thought had been interrupted but that quickly changed when she saw who it was.

Midoriya: "Guess who's a teacher now, as well as a babysitter."

Kendo stared at her phone in disbelief, of course the person that she was thinking about would message her at the "perfect" time. She didn't answer his message, instead she looked up at her mirror. Her eyes widened in shock as she saw herself sporting a smile that she didn't even know she could make. The realization caused her to drop her phone in shock.

'Oh shit… I like him. No it couldn't be… could it?'

Kendo grabbed her phone, slightly annoyed. Not because she had dropped it or because Midoriya had texted her, but because she wasn't sure what her own feelings were. It was a new thing to her and she didn't like it at all, not knowing your emotions is a scary thing. Having had enough of chickening out, she decided to take matters into her own hands.

This time her fingers listened to her as she navigated through her contact list. That being said her heart didn't get the memo since she felt it beating faster with every tap of the screen.

'You can do this Itsuka, the family motto has always been to face everything head on.'

With all her usual confidence she pressed the call button and pressed her phone to her ear. She was ready to figure everything out.

"Hey Kendo, is everything alright?"

"H..hey Mi.. Midoriya, everything's f..fine."

And just like that all her confidence was gone the moment she heard his voice. Silently she kicked the air as she berated herself. 'You idiot what are you doing, he's gonna think you're a weirdo.'

"Are you sure? You don't sound like you're feeling too good."

Kendo shook her head before slapping her cheeks hard enough to leave a red mark. She knew he could hear it but that didn't matter now.

"Kendo, what was that?"

"Nothing, I accidentally kicked my dresser."

"Oh… are you alright?"

"Perfectly fine, just a little embarrassed is all. So what's all this about a teacher?"

"Oh yeah, do you remember my niece, Eri, that I told you about?"

"The same one you knew nothing about."

"Yep, well I'm helping her learn to read and write now."

"Shouldn't she already know how to do that by now?"

"Kids learn at different paces, so I'll have none of that negativity here."

Kendo bit her thumb in embarrassment, she didn't mean for it to come off as insulting but she could see how it could be perceived like that.

"I'm sorry Midoriya, I didn't mean it like that."

Midoriya started to laugh which sent a wave of relief over Kendo.

"It's all good, I was just teasing you. But you're not wrong, she did get a later start than most so I'm doing my best to help."

Kendo softly smiled as she sat up and brought her knees to her chest. "You really are a good guy, aren't you, Midoriya?"

"That depends on who you ask."

"I think you're a good guy."

"Huh?"

Kendo again quickly shook her head. "I mean you're helping take care of your niece and even helping make sure she can read and write. No bad person would go that far and that's not even mentioning all the help you've given me."

"You never know, I could be doing all this with ulterior motives."

"I refuse to believe you're that kind of person Midoriya."

A soft laugh came from his end of the phone. "You're too trusting Kendo, that could get you killed in the business you're going into."

"I don't trust everyone like this… just you."

She didn't need to look in the mirror to know that her cheeks were a bright red, she could feel the heat in them herself.

"But we've only known each other for a month."

"I don't know how to explain it, Midoriya… I just know that I can trust you."

"Well, for what it's worth, I trust you as well, Kendo."

A giddy smile covered Kendo's face, as she thrashed silently in happiness. Hearing him say that he trusted her made her inexplicably happy. After her moment of happiness she quickly calmed herself down.

"Who says building trust takes time?"

"Most people."

"Yeah, but what do they know?"

"Probably more than a couple of teenagers."

"Well they clearly don't know us."

The two of them laughed, at the silliness of what their conversation had devolved into. While they sat in a comfortable silence Kendo remembered the things she wanted to ask him earlier.

"Hey Midoriya, how's everything going over there?"

"Fine… why do you ask?"

"Well I wasn't sure, I mean with the Phoenix attack last night, I didn't know what it was like over there."

"Oh, I'm honestly not too worried about it."

"Seriously!? Why not!?"

"Well he's only ever targeted criminals or known villains. I don't think I have any reason to be worried."

"Still there's no telling how a fight might escalate, you could get caught up in the collateral damage. Plus he's still a villain; there's no telling when he might hurt someone innocent."

"Yeah, that's true. I'll be careful, alright?"

"Alright, if something happens again, let me know. Text me letting me know you're ok. I don't want to have to worry if you're alright or not."

"Alright, I'll let you know that I'm fine."

"Thanks, Midoriya."

"It's not a problem, but I have to go. It's time for me to check over Eri's work."

"Why are you still talking to me then? Go do your job, teacher."

Midoriya and Kendo both laughed again at her outburst. "Will do, I'll talk to you later."

"Bye, Midoriya."

Kendo silently got up, leaving her phone on her bed. She stood by her window looking at the night sky with a smile.

'I don't know if I like him, but I think it's safe to say I'm interested. I mean my heart has never beaten that fast before. I've also never been so happy to hear someone say they trust me.'

With a deep breath, Kendo closed her curtains, turned the lights off, and climbed into bed. She was ready for bed and after that call she didn't feel like anything could ruin her good night's sleep. As she was being claimed by the sandman, a single thought passed through her mind that she knew she wouldn't remember.

'Was he seriously still having her practice this late?'

At the same time Kendo was falling asleep in Chiba, Midoriya was doing something completely different in Osaka. He was standing in front of his mirror in his usual combat clothes, but this time there were no accent colors, it was all black. He grabbed a lighter and a black flame ignited from it. When the flame died out, he put it in his pocket as he made his way to the door.

The apartment was empty, Eri had gone back to the hideout hours ago. He didn't even want to lie to Kendo, especially after she had just said that she trusted him, but he had no choice for now. He needed to cause another incident to get the hero's away from the Shie Hassaikai.

As he took the elevator down, his eyes became more cold and emotionless with each passing floor. By the time he reached the ground they looked dead, but that couldn't be further from the truth. He was suppressing his emotions to heighten his visual sense. While like this, he was able to notice more of his surrounding areas.

He casually walked the streets as if he owned them, trying to find anyone that fit the bill for his criteria. Thankfully, in a city like this, it didn't take too long before a purse snatcher showed up. Usually something like this was below him, unless it was potentially related to his parents death, but tonight he didn't care.

Midoriya saw the man turn down a corner alley, he didn't follow him, but instead, he turned down a different alley while igniting his mask in a black flame. Having spent a considerable amount of time in the city, Midoriya knew exactly where the purse snatcher would be and just as he turned the next corner, he saw the man running towards him with the stolen purse in hand.

When the man noticed Midoriya he came to a stop with terror etched deep into his face. He looked over his shoulder and back to Midoriya, multiple times. Everyone knew Phoenix wore a mask made of fire. The man slowly started to back away.

"P… Please don't do it… I'll go give it back and turn myself in."

Midoriya didn't even acknowledge his pleas. Having already decided this was his man, Midoriya took his hand out of his pocket and snapped once.

Black flames erupted from the man's ears causing the night to be filled with visceral screams. Instincts took over as the man tried to beat the fire out.

Again, Midoriya snapped.

The flames that were coming from the man's ears disappeared momentarily, before bursting from inside his mouth. His screams could no longer be made, the only sound that could be heard were groans and the faint sound of his tongue bubbling away.

Midoriya snapped for a final time.

Just like with his ears, the flames in his mouth also vanished before coming from his eyes. The flames engulfed his eyes leaving nothing but empty charred sockets. The man was already dead by the time the flames disappeared. Having completed his task, he turned back to the alley he came from. In the distance, he could hear footsteps approaching his latest victim. He was confident they wouldn't search further, so he dispersed the flames that covered his mask into the air. As he was about to leave the alley he could hear a familiar voice calling for help.

'Why is Bubble Girl still working this late?'
