Episode 3: Greymon's Rampage
"I see..." Lilithmon said as she reclined in her love seat, Merlin kneeling before her. "So not only did you fail to recruit Wizardmon, but you were spotted by Lady Noire and the others?"
"Yes, and that Wizardmon no doubt told them my name," Merlin answered. "And while I didn't say your name, Lady Noire is no fool... it won't take long for her to deduce that I'm working for you. And now the Guild is moving into that area to install surveillance equipment, which can only mean that they've found the portal..."
"Surveillance equipment?" Lilithmon raised an eyebrow. "Which means they currently lack the means to close the portal permanently... or perhaps the Sistermons do not wish to lose their only way home. Well, we can work around whatever security cameras they set up... and now I'm confident I can use my own power to open the portal whenever I wish, and compel whatever Digimon are nearby to come through, so I will not punish you for this... minor failure. You may rise."
"Truly, my lady?" Merlin raised his head up in mild surprise.
"Yes. Although..." A knowing smirk crept over her face. "Perhaps you should be prepared for a little pain at bedtime tonight, if you know what I mean..."
Merlin could only swallow hard at the implications...
*A few days later...*
"Here you go~! Eat up!" Sistermon Noir said a with a smile as she set a plate of food in front of the homeless man. She and Sistermon Blanc were currently working at a crisis shelter/soup kitchen as part of their community service, both wearing aprons over their usual attire.
"Heh, I'm so lucky today to have such a pretty woman serving me!" the vagabond chuckled, his eyes focused on the nun's chest... "OW!" He cried as he was abruptly punched in the head, leaving a sizable bump!
"Kindly focus on devouring your food, instead of devouring my body with your eyes!" Noir chastised.
"Isn't that being a little too harsh, big sister?" Sistermon Blanc queried as she served a meal to an old lady.
"No, being too harsh would be me bringing my weapons out!" Noir countered, moving on to the next homeless man, who kept his gaze very politely focused on the food he was served.
"I'm sorry about my sister," Blanc sighed. "She can get a bit weird sometimes..."
"Oh, really? What about that one time you went into a battle frenzy, and I had to knock you out?" Noir retorted.
"D-don't bring that up! That's so embarrassing, to recall that!" Blanc squeaked, her face going red as a tomato. Just then, a commotion was heard outside... "What's going on?"
"Oh my goddess!" a female NPC pointed to the window, "it's a monster! A kaiju, even!"
"A monster? Let me see!" Noir grunted as she maneuvered between tables... but when she got a clear look out the window, she gasped as her hands went to her mouth in shock. "It- it can't be...!"
*A few minutes earlier...*
"So what the heck we lookin' for, anyway?" a gangster complained as he and his fellow members searched through the alleyway.
"Those Guild jerks were here yesterday, settin' up surveillance!" the gang leader responded. "But this here's OUR turf! So we're gonna find whatever cameras they set up and smash 'em!"
"They musta hid 'em pretty damn well, 'cause I can't find nothin' that even LOOKS like a camera!" another gangster griped.
"They gotta be around here somewhere! Keep looking!" the leader ordered.
"Hey, boss man, I found something!" a third gangster called out. "It ain't a camera, but it's something...!"
"Whatta you talkin' about?!" the leader sighed in annoyance, walking in said gangster's direction.. only to stop short upon seeing what his lackey was pointing at. "What the (beep) is that? Some kinda crack in midair...?!"
"I know, right?" the gangster nodded. "Whatta we do?"
"Don't touch it, fool!" the leader ordered. But suddenly the crack burst open into the white portal once more! "What the hell did I just say?!"
"I didn't do nothing, boss!" the gangster insisted... just then, something emerged from the portal... something big, with blue skin and horns on its head!
"Holy shit! It's a (bleep)ing T-Rex!" One gangster yelled in shock and terror.
"SHOOT IT!" The leader ordered, he and his lackeys opening fire with their guns!
"Ghahahaha! That tickles!" the Tyrannosaurus rex suddenly spoke. "Now try mine! Nova Flame!" He unleashed a massive flamethrower from his jaws, immolating all but two of the gangsters who were further back, the thugs promptly fleeing for their lives! "That's right, you better run, fools! ...Wait, where am I?" He looked around a bit. "Heh, doesn't matter! Let's if there's anyone who can stand against the mighty Greymon!" He promptly stomped off down the alley.
On the rooftops above, Lilithmon and Merlin were watching the event. The latter began, "Surely you don't intend to-"
"No. I don't," Lilithmon cut him off. "We'll let the goddess and Sistermons handle this one." And so they teleported away...
*Back in the present...*
"A Greymon?!" Sistermon Noir gasped. "What's one of those doing here?!"
"That Merlin mage must have summoned it!" Blanc suggested. "What do we do?"
"Obviously, we're going to have to stop it," Noir responded as the blue Greymon torched a nearby car with his Nova Flame.
"Ghahahahaha! Your puny machines cannot stop the mighty Greymon!" the T-rex bellowed.
"My car! My insurance!" cried a nearby NPC, before realizing his situation and fleeing.
"That's right, you cowards! Run away!" Greymon taunted. "Is there anyone in this city who can challenge me?!" A report rang out, his head being knocked to one side by a powerful gunshot! "Gah! Who did that?!"
"I did!" a voice declared, Greymon turning his head to see Noir leaning out a second-floor window. The Digimon promptly shot a fireball from his mouth, which exploded against the building...
But when the smoke cleared, Noir was safe behind a barrier seemingly made of hexagons of light! "What the...?!"
"Good thing I got my Protect Wave up in time!" Blanc grunted. "You should have exited the building first, then attacked, sister!"
"Well, in that case-!" Noir promptly jumped out of the window once the Protect Wave vanished, turning a flip and making a three-point landing, Blanc quickly following her lead and landing at her side.
"What's this? Two little girls are challenging me?" Greymon said dismissively.
"Little girls, my foot! We're disciples of the Royal Knight Gankoomon himself!" Noir declared.
"Never heard of him," Greymon shrugged, before suddenly lashing out with his tail! But the Sistermons easily jumped over the attack, Noir firing both her guns into the larger monster's flank!
"Divine Pierce!" Blanc intoned, firing a ray of light from her staff which nailed the Greymon in the head, though all it seemed to do was annoy him. Greymon then fired another Nova Flame, the sisters dashing in opposite directions to evade, before firing on him from both sides!
"Think you're clever splitting up, huh?" Greymon grunted in annoyance. He turned his attention towards Blanc... "Great Horns Attack!" he cried, charging at the younger sister, who just managed to jump and roll to one side!
"How dare you! Bless Fire!" Noir intoned, firing at Greymon's right knee joint... a bullseye, the T-rex's leg giving out and causing him to crash on his side! "That's what you get for trying to hurt my cute little sister!"
"Urgh... cheap shot!" Greymon grunted as he picked himself up. "Nova Blast!" He let loose with a fireball that Noir jumped up to avoid, but Greymon was already readying another Nova Flame... only to get hit with a double-footed kick to the flank, knocking the flamethrower off-target and causing him to fall over again!
"Lady Uni!" Blanc gasped as she retreated in her sister's direction. It was indeed Uni, already in her HDD form of Black Sister, promptly equipping her rifle as Greymon sat up, the Digimon firing another Nova Flame which was deflected by an EX Multi Blaster!
"Aero Shooter!" Black Sister intoned, jumping between several rune platforms to dodge the Greymon's fireballs while shooting back, ending with an explosive round that knocked him on his tail!
"Wow..." Sistermon Noir said in awe. "This is the power of a goddess..."
"Noir! Let's try our combination attack!" Blanc said as she joined her sister again.
"Huh? Oh, right! Let's do it," Noir nodded, she and Blanc taking ready stances... "Grand Sister Cruz!" They cried as they fired simultaneously, their blasts mixing and turning into a cross of light that hit the blue Greymon in the chest, the horned Digimon crying in agony!
"Nice one! Now I'll finish it!" Black Sister said as she touched down, her gun charging another blast... "Brave Cannon!" The beam hit Graymon dead-on, throwing him back into the opposite building's corner, an explosion resulting! When the smoke and dust cleared, the Greymon was gone, replaced with a much smaller baby T-rex with black skin, lying on his back unconscious.
"Oh! He reverted to his Rookie form!" Blanc realized.
"So he's just a black Agumon now," Noir said as she put her guns away, she and her sister walking over to said Agumon, Uni joining them and reverting to human form herself.
"Ow ow ow ow ow..." the black Agumon stirred, picking himself up and holding his head in his claws. Then his eyes blinked open... "Huh...? Oh no! I'm not Greymon anymore!"
"You sure aren't," Uni affirmed, still holding her rifle in a raised position.
"I'd surrender if I were you, trouble-maker," Noir deadpanned. "You don't want to deal with this lady's older sister..."
"Okay, okay! I give up!" Agumon bowed his head to the asphalt. "I'm sorry! I was just so happy I finally digivolved... I guess it kinda went to my head..."
"Fine then. As CPU Candidate, I sentence you to exile from this city! In other words, we're sending you back where you came from!" Uni stated. "You can open the portal with your staff, right, Sister Blanc?"
"Yes, I should be able to," Blanc nodded. "Agumon, did you attack anyone else when you came out the portal?"
"Just some people who fired on me..." the black Agumon admitted. "But why didn't they delete when I burned them?"
"Because they were humans, not Digimon," Uni said darkly. "Fortunately for you, they were likely lowlife gang scum..."
"Be grateful we stopped you before you burned any innocents," Noir piled on. "Now come on, let's go!"
"All right, all right..." Agumon sighed as he let Uni and the Sistermons lead him away.
As they went, however, a young girl with brown hair and worn clothing was watching them go... "So that's Uni, the CPU Candidate... wow... I didn't know those nuns knew her. So cool...!"
"Young lady, what are you doing?" an NPC worker ran out to her. "Get back inside! This is a crime scene now! Come on!"
"Sorry, ma'am," the girl bowed her head in remorse as she was led off...
*Later, at the Basilicom...*
"So Sister Noir and Blanc managed to hold off the Digimon until you got there?" Noire said to Uni.
"Yeah, they were a great help bringing it down," Uni nodded. "You should have heard the homeless people cheering when we went back to the soup kitchen after kicking that Agumon out of our world... Sisters Noir and Blanc are practically celebrities now!"
"You don't seem so enthused about it, Miss Uni," Kei observed.
"Oh, no, that's not it... it's just..." Uni shook her head. "We saw the burning corpses of some gangsters from that Digimon's rampage… It kind of churns my stomach to think about it…"
"Then don't think about it, Uni," Noire said pointedly. "Think about the innocent people you helped save instead..."
"But Noire... even if they were criminals, they didn't deserve to die like that!" Uni shot back in anguish.
"At least their deaths were likely swift," Sister Ciel interjected. "Even when I must use lethal force, I make sure they don't suffer..."
"...I guess," Uni sighed. "But we need to find that Merlin, before he ends up summoning something even worse!"
"I concur. Greymon are dangerous, but they're still only Champion-level Digimon," Ciel pointed out. "I shudder to think about what would happen if an Ultimate Digimon came through, or worse..."
"Perhaps it's time to ask a professional- a private detective who knows how to track elusive suspects," Kei suggested. "With your permission, Lady Noire, I will begin searching the phone directory and Internep for such a detective..."
"Go ahead, Kei," Noire agreed. "The sooner we can nip this in the bud, the better…"
"Hey, by the way, where's Hackmon at?" Uni asked, looking around.
"At the Lastation Guild. He's training to become a Royal Knight, so he wanted to study how they fight crime that the regular police can't handle," Ciel explained. "I think he's itching to go on a patrol with that Batman, to be frank."
"Well, as long as he's not disrupting their work," Noire allowed. "And Uni, if you can't get those gruesome images out of your head, try watching puppy videos on NepTube or something, okay?"
"Good idea," Uni nodded, turning and quickly leaving...
"Then I will go and find a detective forthwith. By your leave, Lady Noire." With a formal bow, Kei also left, the meeting now unofficially adjourned.
