Gamma-75 began his work scanning, diagnosing, and repairing Lola. Fixer offered to stay and help so that he could widen his tech skill range and for no other reason.

"So, what's the problem with Lola?"

"Well, I'm not 100% sure but-" Gamma-75 made an adjustment to an internal sensor. "Yep, that's it!" Lola proceeded to reboot before letting out a cheerful series of beeps in gratitude.

Fixer looked on in amazement. "You're good." he stated.

"Nah it was a simple problem. Just got to know what to listen out for. Someone has to know this stuff, and it might as well be the tech expert."

Fixer gave a small laugh. "I know what you mean. I know the squad expects me to be the smart one but it's frustrating you know? It almost feels like I'm the only one taking our role seriously." Fixer looked over at his wide-eyed tech partner who realized he wasn't alone in his experience.

"Exactly! You should hear the pointless arguments between Gamma-11 and 34. We're meant to be elite professional commandos, the least we can do is save all irrelevant talk until after the mission is completed and-

"-cut the chatter and keep the comms clear!" The two said at the exact same time. They both gave a cathartic laugh when they realized they were on the same wavelength.

"I love my squadmates but I'm glad I've got someone I can talk to about this. It's feels nice to be appreciated for once." Fixer felt a wave of relief wash over him as he admitted this for the first time. Gamma-75 was glad they had met each other as he felt the same way.

"If you ever get sick of Delta squad and want to move to Gamma, let me know and I'll do my best to help you."

The suggestion hit Fixer by surprise; he'd never been offered anything like this before. "Really? Thank you. That's very kind of you 75."

"You're welcome 40. Sorry do you prefer Fixer or 40?"

"The squad call me Fixer, but I always liked sticking with designation numbers."

"Same here, the whole squad have their own nicknames and I got stuck with Sparks. I mean I guess it's could have been worst, but I never liked it from the start."

"Okay, thank you 75." Said Fixer, wanting to be respectful. Gamma-75 realised something before shyly looking away.

"Actually…I don't mind if you call me Sparks."

"Okay Sparks and… you can call me Fixer if you want." The two techies looked at each other and gave a soft smile.

"You're welcome, Fixer."

Author notes

For consistancy and simplicity sake, I will be calling my OC 'Sparks' instead of his designation number.
