Chapter 7:

Somewhere in another part of the headquarters of IO, Carrie was led by Morpheus into some kind of space, which was lined with chairs like the one that Carrie was laying on while understanding what the matrix is. Carrie took in her surroundings, saw some people working on some computer equipment, and slowly approached them.

carries then approached one of them and said, "Um, excuse me. My name is Carrie White; what are you all doing?" The person turns to face Carrie and smiles, saying, "Oh hi there... wait, Carrie White, like from the movie Carrie that was based on a book of the same name?" The person asked while trying to confirm what she said to him.

"Yes, I am, or rather, I was the Carrie White from the movie Carrie (2013)," Carrie said to him. The person looked surprised by what she said to him: "Wow, really?! That's amazing. Hey everyone, we got a surprise visitor here." He shouted to the others. They turned their heads to look at them and then went back to work.

Carrie's walked up to them and looked at them working on the computer equipment, and then asked them, "Hey, those chairs over there. Are they for, well, training people to be prepaired before entering the matrix?" she asked nervously.

The person who talked to her earlier looked at her and said, "Yeah, it's called a jump system, except it allows people to enter the construct without any trouble." He explained it to her. Carrie nodded her head in understanding and then said, "Can I try any training simulations on there?" she asked curiously.

The person smiled and said, "Yeah, sure, why don't you give it a go?" He told her before Carrie nodded her head as she walked over to one of the chairs, and then she laid down, feeling a bit nervous about it. The person she was talking to turned to the other guys before saying, "Alright fellas, we got a live one here, so lets get to work on downloading!" The person announced this as everyone started to work on the chair.

Carrie laid there and waited for something to happen, and then she felt a weird sensation in her head, and she knew that they had just inserted the plug. Another person installs a training program involving kung fu, which seems to catch Carrie's attention. "Wait, are guys like... trying to train me to do karate or something?" Carrie asked, feeling nervous about it. The guy nods his head and smiles as he says, "Yeah, we want to get you ready for when you enter the matrix.". Carrie nodded her head as she closed her eyes. She felt the chair activate, and suddenly a flood of information filled her head. All the fighting styles and all the arts of kung fu training were being installed into her mind until, finally, within seconds, she opened her eyes to find herself back in the real world. The people stared at her as they caught her starting to smile. "Hey, I think she likes it; hey, miss, wanna try some more?" Another person shouted out as Carrie looked at him and nodded her head. Later, they started to download a few more programs onto Carrie, one of which was a simple training exercise where she would have to shoot targets with all kinds of weapons, the next being boxing, karate, jujutsu, wrestling, and judo.

A few hours after all the downloading and training exercises, they were almost finished giving Carrie all the information on how to fight, but then Niobe walked in and noticed the team installing some training simulations for Carrie to learn from. Niobe walked over to them and asked them how Carrie was doing. "Excuse me, but is Carrie doing alright?" Niobe asked as they all nodded their heads before one of the people started answering. "Yep, she's doing great. She's a machine. I mean, she's like consuming all the combat training information." One person said that a few seconds later, Carrie suddenly woke up, breathing heavily as if she were totally exhausted. She turned her face and noticed Niobe standing with the group, staring at her. "You guys sure have a lot of training stuff." Carrie said this to the group as they all smiled and nodded their heads. They were impressed with how much training data she can take in. Niobe approaches Carrie as she lays there in the chair. "Maybe, but honestly, I wonder how skilled you are at fighting." Niobe said she was rather curious about how well Carrie can fight "unfortunetly for a woman at my age who can't keep up. but I know a program that can." Niobe said this before she turned her face and saw Morpheus appear from the exomorphic-partical codex. "Morpheus, if you are so kind enough to show her how well you fight, I want to see how well she fights." Niobe requested, as Morpheus nodded his head.

Meanwhile, in the construct

Later, Carrie and Morpheus were standing in a dojo. "Now, Carrie, this is a sparring program, similar to the programmed reality of the Matrix. It has the same basic rules, like gravity. What you must learn is that these rules are no different from the rules of a computer system. Some of them can be bent. Others can be broken. Understand?" Morpheus explained to her before she nodded her head. "Then hit me. If you can," Morpheus said before Carrie threw a punch at him. She was aiming at the stomach, but he blocked her, and Carrie decided to throw multiple attacks at him, but he managed to block them and dodge them. They were already three feet away from each other, and Morpheus was in a fighting stance. Carrie was preparing to make her move, and suddenly she leaps at him, throwing kicks at him. but Morpheus manages to block them too until she lands on her feet.

Morpheus then throws a kick at her, but Carrie dodges it and then throws a kick at him, but Morpheus manages to grab her foot before it can touch his chest, and then he flips her to the floor. Carrie got up and saw Morpheus smiling at her. "Good. Adaptation, improvisation. But your weakness is not your technique." Morpheus said before Carrie nodded and suddenly threw a kick at him, but Morpheus blocked it, and he threw a punch at Carrie. but she immediately dodges it, and then throws a punch at Morpheus, but he dodges it, and then throws a kick at Carrie, but she dodges it. Morpheus then throws another kick at her, but she jumps backwards, and then throws a punch at Morpheus, but he dodges it, and then throws a kick at her, but she jumps away from it, and then throws a punch at him, but he dodges it, and throws a kick at her, but she blocks it with her own leg.

Meanwhile, in the real world,

The Mnemosyne arrives at the docking bay, and its crew, Neo, Trinity, Bugs, Sequoia, Lexy, Ellster, Berg, and Hanno, and its synthesized crew, Cybebe, Lumin8, and Octacles, exited the vehicle and went straight to the meeting room, hoping to meet up with General Niobe. Both Trinity and Neo were feeling a bit curious about why Niobe called the crew of the mnemosyne back to IO so suddenly. They knew that Niobe always kept tabs on them, but they never expected her to call them back to the city so suddenly.

but then their group ran into the crew of the Odyssey. "Captain Bugs, welcome back." Verna said to Bugs, welcoming the crew back to the city. "Thank you, Verna," Bugs said, returning the greeting. "So what's up? We got a message from Niobe saying that she wanted us here pronto." Neo asked the crew of the Odyssey. "Well, unfortunately, we..." but before Verna could say anything, someone called out to both crews, feeling excited. "Carrie's fighting Morpheus!" the person called out. The crew of the Odyssey looked at each other and felt both shock and excitement as they ran down the hall. Neo, Trinity, and Bugs looked at each other, feeling confused about who this Carrie is, and the crew of the mnemosyne decided to follow them. Soon, both the crews of the Odyssey and the mnemosyne arrived at the jump system training room, where everyone else was watching Carrie fight Morpheus.

Trinity and Neo managed to push through the group of people and reach the front, where Niobe was standing there and watching Morpheus and Carrie sparing each other in the sparing program. "Niobe." Neo called out to Niobe, who turned around and saw him. "hello Neo." Niobe greeted Neo. "What's going on?" Neo asked. "We got ourselves a bit of a problem, Neo." Niobe said. "What kind of problem?" Trinity asked curiously. Niobe stood silently as she just pointed at the computer screen, and both Trinity and Neo saw a blond-haired girl fighting Morpheus.

Meanwhile, in the construct

Carrie and Morpheus were still fighting, and Morpheus was about to throw another punch at Carrie, but she managed to catch his fist in a strong grip with her left hand. and then she pushed Morpheus back by using her telekinesis. "Do you think you'll win by cheating?" Morpheus asked Carrie, "No, I'm not cheating, Morpheus!" Carrie replied. "I don't cheat!" Carrie said before releasing Morpheus from her telekenisis.

Meanwhile, in the real world,

Neo and Trinity's eyes widened; they couldn't believe what they had just seen. "How the hell did she do that?" Neo asked in amazement, "see! I told you she's got telekenisis." Aiden said, "Yes, you told us, and now we have seen it." Niobe said. "She can use telekenisis? That's not possible, unless she's one of the potentials," Trinity exclaimed. "I think not. Take a look at this. Her neural kinetics are way above normal," one of the opperators said. "But how is that even possible? Only Neo has nerural kinetics that can go that high." Berg asked while feeling confused about what was happening here. "That's because Neo is the one." Bugs reminded everyone about how powerful they are. Neo then turns his face towards Trinity, for he remembers that she gained the powers of the one thanks to their bond.

Meanwhile, back in the construction

"So what are you doing here?" Morpheus asked. "I wanted to learn how to defend myself without using my powers on my friends; I want to free my friends from the matrix... but in case you didn't know, I learned about what happened to me in one of the matrix worlds, which was a simulated dreamworld based on a storybook or a movie named after me; at least thats what Aiden told me." Carrie answered, remembering what Aiden told her—all the bad and tragic things that seemed to have happened. Carrie just sat down, feeling uneasy about herself and her future. "So tell me, how did you gain your powers?" Morpheus asked curiously. "I don't know what caused me to develop telekenisis, but I think that in the matrix, I was born with it, but it didn't awaken until... I think that I got them after I had my first period. I just assumed that this power came from my grandmother and skipped Mama, or it came from Daddy, but that was before I was told they weren't really my biological parents, while Aiden, well, he thinks I inherited them from Neo and Trinity, who he thinks are my biological parents. I don't know what to believe now. I'm thinking that sometime later, after this training, I want to do a parental test." Carrie answered, feeling nervous and embarrassed.

"Carrie, I can understand how you feel. I mean, it wasn't long ago that Neo was unplugged and he started feeling similar emotions. Now here is what I'm about to tell you: the same thing I told Neo, 'It'll do your head in. Are memories turned into fiction any less real? Is reality based on memory nothing but fiction? As to my role in all this, my best guess is that you wrote me as an algorithmic reflection of two forces that helped you become you: Morpheus and Agent Smith. A combo pack of counterprogramming that was Let's just say it's more than a little bit crazy-making. But it worked because here we are. Now, for the bad news: Your brain is hooked on this; the matrix has been force-feeding you for years. Hooked bad. You're going through major withdrawals. Docbots are giving you bad odds for surviving. But, see, they don't know you like I do.' That's what I told Neo." Morpheus explained this to Carrie.

"You said that to Neo?" Carrie asked.

"Yes, but then again, he was a lot like you. He had trouble accepting his reality and even had nightmares of his past life in the matrix." Morpheus answered.

"That sounds a lot like me!" Carrie exclaimed.

"Yes, it does," Morpheus agreed.

Carrie knew somehow she would have to do something. She then stood back up and went into a fighting stance. "Morpheus, I may not be ready to let go yet, but I will learn how to fight and free my friends from that... matrix thing. Let's try this fight again!" Carrie said she felt ready to fight. Morpheus smiles, and he takes a fighting stance, preparing for battle. "Then you better be ready. I'm a strict teacher!" Morpheus said as they both stood there for a few seconds, "Remember, you're faster than this." Morpheus advises Carrie as she nods her head, "Don't think you are; know you are." Morpheus finishes until... their battle had resumed again, and they fought hard with hand-to-hand combat, giving it all they got. Carrie threw her fist at Morpheus, and he caught it. "Come on. Stop trying to hit me and hit me." Morpheus said as they resumed throwing punches, and they dodged and blocked each other's attacks. Carrie then threw a kick at him, and before she knew it, Morpeus caught it, and then he flipped her over. Then suddenly she landed on her hands, did a backflip, and stood back up in a fighting stance.

Meanwhile, back in the real world

Everyone's eyes widen as they stare at how fast Carrie was moving and how accrobatic she was. Even Neo and Trinity were amazed by Carrie's speed and agility. "My god, she's fast," Neo said, and Trinity smiled. "That's like a combination of fighting and moving like a cheerleader." Bugs said he felt rather impressed with how things were going.

back in the construct

They continue their fight, and Carrie dodges a few of his punches, then kicks him in the stomach, and he falls to the floor. "Well done, Carrie!" Morpheus compliments. "Thank you, sir, but I need to catch my breath." Carrie replied.

"Do you really think that's the air you're breathing now?" Morpheus said as she took a deep breath. "Huh, what do you mean?" Carrie asked, confused.

"The air you breathe is not real; it's just electrical signals interpreted by your brain." Morpheus explained as Carrie started to remember what she learned about the matrix. "Oh yeah, sorry, I... must have been training so much I've forgotten about all that stuff about what the matrix can do to my head." Carrie said as she bowed her head. Morpheus, on the other hand, knows that, deep inside Carrie, she has a lot to learn before she's even ready. "I believe that the next training simulation you are going to learn from is going to teach you a few things. In case you already know, I'm going to try to free your mind, Carrie, but I can only show you the door; you're the one that has to walk through it. you understand me?" Morpheus asked.

"yes sir!" Carrie answered as she bowed her head to Morpheus. "Good, now on to the next training program," Morpheus said before calling out, "load the jump program." Morpheus said as everything around them changed into what appeared to be New York City. Carrie was amazed by this: "Wait, is this an exact data program for New York City?" Carrie asked as she took in all her surroundings and realized that they were on top of a building. "This training program is something much different. You have to let it all go, Carrie. Let go of fear, doubt, and disbelief. Free your mind." Morpheus said, and without warning, he ran with great speed towards the edge of the building. but what Carrie saw made her jaw drop. Morpheus jumped from one building and landed safely in another. "Wow," Carrie said to herself before she began focusing on the task that she must do.

Meanwhile, in the real world,

Everyone stood there and watched the screen as they started chattering amongst themselves about whether or not Carrie could make the jump. Niobe, Neo, and Trinity, along with the rest of the crew of the Mnemosyne on the other hand, were having a feeling that Carrie would fall just like the others who fell the first time in the jump program.

back in the construct

Carrie was clearing her mind and focusing on jumping to the other building, but she needs to be sure not to use her powers—not right now anyway. "Come on, clear your head, and let go." Carrie whispered to herself before making a quick start and charging towards the edge of the roof, and she immediately jumped off the ledge. She had almost reached the other building with that leap, but she managed to grab hold of the edge of the roof. Carrie pulled herself up onto the roof, and she saw Morpheus standing there. "unusual? From what I learned, everyone usually falls the first time, but you came close to falling and caught the building's edge." Morpheus said as he walked up to her and extended a hand to her. "You know, you can use your powers in the matrix if you want, but you won't use them in the real world, meaning it won't hurt anyone there." Morpheus said to Carrie as she stood back up on her feet. "Well, thanks, but I know this sounds weird, but what would happen if I had fallen in this training.?" Carrie asked, feeling curious about it. Morpheus just stood there silently. "Carrie, you don't mind if I could prick your finger, do you?" Morpheus asked

. "Okay, go ahead." Carrie said as she held her hand out, and Morpheus took out from his pocket what appeared to be a tack. When Morpheus took her pointer finger and gently pricked it with a tack, Carrie noticed a drop of blood leaking out. "I guess you'll know what happens next. operator wake her? She needs some rest." Morpheus said as everything turned white.

Meanwhile, back in the real world

Carrie suddenly awakens after being pulled from the jump system; already, she sees the crew of the Odyssey and other people standing there, many of whom she has never met before. Linux and Rudder helped Carrie up from the chair she was lying in. "Carrie, that was quite a cool fight," Linux said as Carrie smiled at them both. "Thanks guys," Carrie said while thanking them. Aiden approached her. "It seems like Morpheus left a little prick mark on your finger," Aiden said to Carrie. "What do you mean?" Carrie asked, feeling confused, but took a look at the same finger Morpheus pricked in the construct. There was a little drop of blood there. She was surprised. How was this even possible? "How did... I think it isn't real?" Carrie said she felt confused. "Your mind makes it real." Verna explained. It took a short while for Carrie to piece it together, and then she realized that even in the matrix, you are mortal. "So, if you're killed in the matrix, you die here in the real world?" Carrie asked, feeling a bit scared about the dangers of what the matrix can do.

Niobe nodded her head to Carrie before she responded, "I'm afraid, so Carrie. The body cannot live without the mind. as the Morpheus I knew back then would say." Niobe explained this to Carrie. "So what does this mean?" Carrie started saying before she paused, feeling unsure. "Anyway, it's time to run some blood tests, Carrie." Niobe said before turning to Trinity and Neo. "Neo, trinity, I'd like you to meet Carrie White." The crew of the Odyssey thinks that she is your daughter." Niobe finished before walking out of the jump system training room. The room went silent as Neo and Trinity both looked at each other and then back to Carrie.
