A/N: Hello. :) This is the first chapter of the surprise story I mentioned a couple days back. That's right. The surprise story is a crossover between J.G. Quintel's 2 shows, "Regular Show" and, most recently, "Close Enough", otherwise known as "Close Enough: A Regular Show". The main cast for the show is J.G. Quintel as Mordecai, Josh Singleton, and Hi-Five Ghost, William Salyers as Rigby, Gabrielle Walsh as Emily Ramirez, Jessica DiCicco as Candice, Kimiko Glenn as Bridgette, Jason Mantzoukas as Alex, Sam Marin as Benson, Pops, and Muscleman, Mark Hamill as Skips, and a couple surprise guests, one of which is voiced by Grey DeLisle Griffin as we all know, and another, voiced by Mela Lee. Enjoy. :)
Close Enough: A Regular Show
"First Day"
Play Kenny Loggins Music: "I'm Alright"
It all started as the sun rise up before it showed two girls in fancy clothes named Desdemona, or Mona for short, and Mela, her sister, planting in a garden near the house before showing a white-furred Gorilla in pants named Skips repairing the cart from the bottom while drinking a can of soda before then showing a red bird named Margaret jogging by and passing a couple of workers named Muscleman, who was mowing the lawn, and Hi Five Ghost, who was sprinkling water all of the mowed lawn, the former of which lifted his shades and grinned at Margaret, before then showing a walking Gumball machine named Benson opening the mailbox and getting out 4 envelopes from the mailbox and getting a look at them.
Meanwhile, at an apartment, a couple named Josh Singleton and Emily Ramirez were looking through their mail as their 5-year-old daughter, Jessica, was sitting next to them before they noticed a newspaper with an ad saying, "WANTED: Groundskeepers for Local Park. No experience necessary." before then turning to each other and then high-diving each other, elbowing each other and chest-bumping each other before later, a blue jay named Mordecai and a brown raccoon named Rigby arrived in front of a park via Bus Stop and looked back at the same newspaper ad and then at the park ahead at which point, a pale pink, lollipop-shaped man named Pops Maellard was driving on the cart, waving ahead to Mordecai and Rigby, the latter of which pressed his elbow on Mordecai, gently before raising his fingers and then pointing at himself, only to earn a punch in the side from Mordecai before he then showed Pops, as he approached, the ad that he and Rigby spotted before Pops nodded and shook his hand with a Mordecai then introducing Rigby to Pops before the former shook hands with the latter, who then got out two butterscotch lollipops, gave them to the duo, and brought them over to the house where Josh, Emily, and Candice were waiting before Pops introduced Mordecai and Rigby to Josh, Emily, and Candice, who shook hands with each other with Candice and Rigby doing a fist bump before Pops then opened the front door to the house with the group of four looking on in amazement, especially with its amenities such as a living room with the TV, the coffee table, the sofa, a shelf of teapots, a video game console with controllers, the kitchen, the computer room, and even the bathroom before Pops then showed each duo to their own rooms with Mordecai and Rigby celebrating by high-fiving each other, getting out a soda pack, drinking the cans, and partying like there's no tomorrow while Josh and Emily celebrate by heading to Wing Kingdom, with Candice coming with, where their divorced friends, Alex and Bridgette are before they ate wings together and had fun as they even sang with Josh and Emily first and then Bridgette and Alex as Candice watched, eating from the kids' menu.
I'm alright
Nobody worry 'bout me
Why you got to gimme a fight?
Can't you just let it be?
I'm alright
Don't nobody worry 'bout me
You got to gimme a fight
Why don't you just let me be?
Do what you like
Doing it nat'rally
But if it's too easy
They're gonna disagree
It's your life
Isn't it a mystery?
It's nobody's bus'ness
It's everybody's game
Got to catch you later
No, no, cannonball it right away (Some Cinderella kid)
Get it up and get you a job (Dip dip dip dip dip dip dip dip)
I'm alright
Nobody worry 'bout me
Why you got to gimme a fight?
Can't you just let it be?
I'm alright
Don't nobody worry 'bout me
You got to gimme a fight
Why don't you just let me be?
Who do you want?
End Kenny Loggins Music: "I'm Alright"
The next morning, Josh and Emily were woken up groggily by the eager 5-year-old with the latter in a lavender-colored bath robe with her hair now messy and the former in blue pajamas with white stripes.
"Mom, Dad, come on. It's time to wake up. You gotta go to work.", Candice urged while shaking them a little.
"Okay, okay. Daddy's up. What a night, though, huh, Emily?", Josh yawned.
"Yeah... It sure was. Who would've thought we'd get a nice home to live in here?", Emily grinned with a yawn and a stretch of her arms as she got out of bed.
"Yeah, I know. Totally beats that apartment. Still a little tired, though.", Josh responded.
"I think there's some coffee downstairs in the kitchen. That'll wake us up.", Emily responded.
"I'll just have the cereal.", Candice responded.
Meanwhile, Mordecai's alarm started to beep at "8:15AM" before Mordecai stopped the alarm and sat up with a yawn.
"Alright, dude. Time to get up.", Mordecai spoke before Rigby, covered by clutters of messy clothes, whined.
"Come on, Rigby.", Mordecai urged before Rigby whined again while turning around to make it so he was laying on the floor.
"Dude, get up. We got to get ready for work.", Mordecai urged promptly before Rigby then sat up in annoyed response.
"Okay. Okay.", Rigby responded before Mordecai day up.
"Dude, this is so cool. I never got a job that got you a place to live.", Mordecai spoke, impressed with the job so far.
"I never even had a job.", Rigby retorted as he got the dirty clothes off of him, putting them in a corner, while Mordecai watched him struggle getting it off.
"Yeah, about that. I kinda told them you'd be a good idea to hire, so can you try not to do the whole 'Rigby thing'?", Mordecai requested.
"'Rigby thing'? What do you mean?", Rigby puzzled.
"I mean you're lazy.", Mordecai responded bluntly.
"What? I'm not lazy.", Rigby responded.
"Dude, you were too lazy to fill up the application for this job. That's why I had to vouch for you in the first place.", Mordecai explained.
"Just because I was too lazy to do something boring like filling in a job application doesn't mean I'm lazy.", Rigby retorted angrily.
"Okay. Okay. Look. Let's just both promise that starting right now we're not gonna do anything to screw this up. Okay?", Mordecai asked.
"Okay. You think there's breakfast stuff in the kitchen?", Rigby asked with Mordecai thinking it over in response.
"Only one way to find out.", Mordecai responded.
In the kitchen, Josh and Emily were just having cups of coffee when Mordecai and Rigby went to the kitchen.
"Hey, guys. You gonna eat breakfast?", Josh asked.
"Mm-Hmm.", Mordecai responded before opening the fridge to notice a lone carton of milk with an egg next to it.
"Mmmmmmilk.", Mordecai spoke before picking up the carton and closing the fridge door with Rigby checking the cupboard and noticing a cereal box.
"Cereal.", Rigby grinned before picking up the box and closing the cupboard with both friends pouring the necessities all in one bowl.
"Combine...", Mordecai and Rigby spoke eagerly.
"Okay, but if you're eating cereal, just so you know, there's only one clean spoon left. Candice already got the other one.", Emily responded.
"I called dibs on that one.", Candice added.
"Aw, man.", Rigby groaned slightly.
"You heard her, dude. This is the only clean spoon left. Let's play punchies for it.", Mordecai suggested.
"Okay. Me first.", Rigby agreed before he punched Mordecai but got surprised when he thought it was weak.
Mordecai then laughed as Rigby glared and then punched Rigby hard on his arm.
"Owww...Take it.", Rigby groaned before Mordecai laughed and then talked with his mouth full.
"Man, so far this job is awesome! I still can't believe we get our own rooms!", Mordecai responded.
"You're telling me. There's even a comfy queen-sized bed in our room.", Josh agreed.
"Aw, what? Dude, those rooms aren't cool. At least not ours. There's nothing in them. I had to sleep on the floor last night.", Rigby explained before eating the cereal straight from the box.
"Yeah, but we could help get some stuff for your guys' room after we make some money. You know?", Emily assured.
"Yeah, I guess...", Rigby sighed, hanging his head down a little.
"You want some milk?", Mordecai asked.
"Yeah.", Rigby responded before Mordecai poured the milk into Rigby's mouth when all of a sudden, Benson and Pops came in, carrying a Silounna out.
"Hey! Please don't eat up in the table like that.", Benson requested.
"Like what?", Pops puzzled before Mordecai & Rigby stared at it in shock and surprise, not even paying attention to what they're doing with Candice also surprised.
"Oh my. I never seen anyone eating cereal like that. How quaint!", Pops grinned.
"Yeah, well they shouldn't be doing that. That's what the bowls are for.", Benson responded.
"Oh, they're fine!", Pops assured as he and Benson leave the room.
"Did you see that chair?", Mordecai asked.
"I love chairs...", Rigby agreed.
"I love bouncing on chairs...", Candice added before Mordecai, Rigby, and Candice all stared at each other and suddenly rushed outside where Pops and Benson took the chair out.
"Guys, wait up!", Emily urged as she and Josh ran out to catch up to the others outside.
"Hey, Pops! What are you doing with that chair?", Mordecai asked.
"Oh, well. I no longer require its services. So, Benson and I are taking it to the place where the big man-made come upon & wisk it away to magic trash city!", Pops responded only for Mordecai and Rigby to stay silent and then look at Benson for an answer as Josh grew puzzled himself.
"Okay? In English?", Josh asked.
"We're throwing it away.", Benson explained.
"Aw, what?", Rigby asked.
"Yeah, why would you throw that thing out? It looks awesome.", Josh agreed.
"Fancy is more like it.", Emily added.
"Can we at least check it out, before you chuck it?", Mordecai added before Rigby quickly leapt onto the cushion.
"Yeah, can we at least check it, before you chuck it?", Rigby asked before Pops and Benson put the chair down.
"Well, that would be fine.", Pops responded with laughter.
"Yeeeaaahhh...", Mordecai spoke as Rigby laughed.
"Look, I gotta get back to work. You guys help him throw it away when you're done.", Benson requested before taking his leave while Mordecai, Rigby, and Candice came closer to the chair.
"Aw, man this chair is awesome. Look how awesome it looks.", Mordecai grinned.
"Dude, it sounds like old man pants.", Rigby commented before he and Mordecai both felt the couch which made a cushion sound with the latter laughing giddily before he suddenly stopped and had a quick idea.
"I'm gonna sit in it.", Mordecai spoke.
"Good idea.", Rigby agreed before Mordecai sat on the couch.
"Aaaaawwwwww, yeah...", Mordecai groaned before suddenly feeling something amiss.
"Eh...?", Mordecai spoke up.
"What? What's wrong?", Rigby asked before Mordecai positioned himself with the chair in as many ways as possible to feel comfortable, but with little to no success.
"This is the most uncomfortable chair I ever sat in.", Mordecai responded quickly.
"Aw, what? Let me try it.", Rigby suggested.
"Yes, I'm afraid it's true.", Pops responded.
"Really?", Emily asked.
"Indeed. I purchased it through the post, and it just isn't as comfortable as it looks.", Pops explained.
"Awwwwwww. This is terrible. Maybe we're just not sitting it right.", Rigby guessed before Mordecai nodded in agreement with Rigby trying his hand in positioning as well.
"Come on, baby, come on, baby, come on! Come on, baby!", Rigby exclaimed as he pulled his eyes and bit, and sat on, the chair.
"Ugh. It's just not comfortable, man. If you ask me, I think we should throw it away.", Rigby suggested.
"Oh, well, yes, that's what I'm on my way to do.", Pops responded.
"Aw, I wanted to jump on it like a trampoline.", Candice groaned.
"Hey, Pops, since you're throwing it out anyway, can I just have it and share it with her?", Mordecai asked.
"No, let me have it! I'll share it with Candice!", Rigby rebuffed before Mordecai placed his arm in front of Rigby.
"I asked him first. Come on, Pops!", Mordecai urged.
"No, Pops, me!", Rigby argued.
"Well, I don't think I know who to give it to. But if you two can settle it between yourselves, then you're more than welcome to have it and/or share it with Candice.", Pops suggested.
"Yea-Uh!", Candice shouted excitedly.
"Yeah, let's play punchies.", Mordecai suggested with Rigby backing away from him.
"No way. I'm not playing that game with you anymore. If we're playing for something like that chair, then we need to play a game that takes a little more skill.", Rigby suggested.
"How much skill?", Mordecai asked.
"Rock, paper, scissors.", Rigby suggested while throwing the signs before spinning around as Pops spoke up next.
"Oh, I adore 'rock, paper, scissors'. Although where I come from, we called it 'quartz, parchment, shears'.", Pops responded.
"Huh. I did not know that.", Emily admitted.
"Alright, how do you wanna play it? Are we doin' 'one-two-three go'? Or 'one-two-three, shoot on three'?
"Let's do it on three.", Rigby suggested.
"Alright, fine. But let's stretch first. I don't wanna put my hammie or whatever.", Mordecai suggested.
"Okay.", Rigby agreed before he and Mordecai then stretched by cracking necks, knuckles, shoulders, legs, and toes just as Muscleman and Hi-Five Ghost appeared.
"What's up with the new guys?", Muscleman asked.
"They're getting ready to play quartz parchment shears for my old Silounna.", Pops replied.
"He means Rock Paper Scissors.", Candice responded.
"Nice. You know who else is gonna play quartz parchment shears for your old Silounna?", Muscleman asked.
"Who?", Pops asked.
"My mom!", Muscleman responded before he and Pops laughed with Muscleman and Hi-Five Ghost giving each other a high five.
"See? I told you I was gonna say it!", Muscleman grinned as he and Hi-Five left.
"Ready?", Mordecai asked before Rigby grunted in response with both playing the game with 1 tie.
"Oh my!", Pops spoke in awe before the two got another tie.
"Seriously? Another tie?", Emily puzzled as Pops laughed before Benson spoke up, passing by in the cart.
"Shouldn't you guys be throwing that thing away?", Benson asked.
"Benson, come quick! Quartz parchment shears and they already tied two times, it's absolutely fascinating!", Pope spoke in amazement.
"I have work to do. And they shouldn't be playing that. It's an evil game.", Benson spoke as he drove away.
"Whoo, an evil game.", Pops grinned.
"'Evil game'?", Josh spoke in slight worry.
"Uh, should we be worried about this?", Emily asked.
"I think that's his way of saying, 'wicked game'.", Candice guessed.
"Two ties. You don't know what I'm throwing next, baby.", Rigby smirked.
"Pfft. I already know what you're gonna throw before you even throw it, baby.", Mordecai scoffed.
"That's not even possible, baby!", Rigby retorted before he and Mordecai get 8 more ties as both Pops and Candice watched in amazement before Rigby kicked the dirt in frustration.
"Come on!", Mordecai shouted before walking away.
"Well, this just got boring fast.", Emily commented.
"Agreed. Let's find something else.", Josh suggested.
"Let's.", Emily agreed before turning back to see that Candice hasn't moved an inch.
"Hey, Candice, sweetie, you coming?", Emily asked.
"Nah, I want to stay here and watch this some more.", Candice responded.
"Alright.", Emily agreed before turning to Pops.
"Pops, can you watch Candice for us, please?", Emily asked.
"Well, of course I can, Madame. I'm sure Young Candice and I will have a Jolly good show.", Pops assured.
"Thank you, Pops.", Emily grinned as she and Josh left.
"Good luck!", Josh added.
Then, Pops pulled out a walkie talkie.
"Everyone, come quick! The most amazing game of Quartz, Parchment, Shears is happening right now!", Pops urged via walkie talkie before laughing.
Play Survivor Music: "Eye of the Tiger"
Then, the montage began with Mordecai and Rigby playing Rock, Paper, Scissors until they got up to 99 ties as Mordecai even used Scissors on a wooden plank with Rigby doing the same thing to a block of ice as Pops and Candice watched in shock and awe while Josh was helping Skips with repairing the cart by handing him necessary tools and Emily was helping Mona and Mela with planting the flowers in the garden before Mordecai and Rigby approaches said 99th tie just as the montage ended.
It's the eye of the tiger
It's the thrill of the fight
Rising up to the challenge of our rival
And the last known survivor
Stalks his prey in the night
And he's watching us all with the eye of the tiger
The eye of the tiger
End Survivor Music: "Eye of the Tiger"
Later, a crowd of people were yelling as they watched Mordecai and Rigby play Rock, Paper, Scissors.
"No! No!", Mordecai shouted.
"99 ties in a row!", Pops shouted excitedly before laughing.
"This game is so intense!", Candice spoke in excitement.
"ENOUGH! Why are we even doing this? You don't think this chair is comfortable.", Mordecai spoke up.
"So? Neither do you!", Rigby retorted.
"Dude, I was lying. I was just saying it so you wouldn't want it.", Mordecai responded.
"I was lying also. I love that chair!", Rigby responded.
"Well, then, I guess it's too bad, because after I win it, I'm never gonna let you sit in it.", Mordecai discouraged.
"Then, finish it.", Rigby responded before he and Mordecai played 1 more time, leading to 100th tie, causing lightning and thunder to sound with an evil voice laughing as the atmosphere suddenly turned darker before the evil voice spoke.
"Since no one can decide, and all that's played is tied 100 times, I take it upon myself to eat your prize.", the evil voice spoke before the background suddenly got worse as a black hole appeared in front of them, and everyone ran to the house for safety.
"What is that?!", Rigby shouted.
"Come on, let's go!", Mordecai urged before he and Rigby ran to the house for safety with them, Pops, and Candice following the others, although unfortunately, a business man got sucked into the black hole.
"This is all your fault!", Rigby blamed.
"How is this my fault?! I just wanted to play punchies!", Mordecai retorted.
"Who cares whose fault that is?! Look at the chair!", Candice shouted, pointing to the chair, which was about to get sucked into the vortex.
"The chair!", Rigby shouted before he went after the chair.
"The Rigby!", Mordecai shouted before he went after Rigby.
"Oh? Oh! Oh, dear...", Pops spoke in worry while holding onto Candice before going after the duo.
Meanwhile, at a different area of the park, Benson and Skips were driving in the cart with Josh, Emily, Mona, and Mela with them when Pops' voice spoke up over the speaker.
"Hello, hello? Please, someone, come quick! Quartz parchment shears has gone terribly wro...!", Pops shouted before the speaker died out.
"Pops, where are you?", Benson asked.
"Yeah, what's going on?", Josh asked.
"And where's Candice?!", Emily shouted just before she and the others saw a nearby explosion.
"Looks like it came from near the house.", Mela guessed before Benson sighed.
"Skips, Mona, Mela, take the shortcut, We'll go around back.", Benson spoke.
"Hmm.", Skips nodded.
"We're on it, Benson.", Mona spoke before she, Skips, and Mela skipped toward the shortcut through the bushes with Benson driving the cart back toward the house.
"Idiots.", Benson spoke.
Meanwhile, Rigby, Mordecai, Candice, and Pops held onto a lamppost as they're screaming, trying to save the chair, but the black hole monster revealed itself, roared and went back into the black hole before it got bigger and stronger, making Pops let go of the lamppost and Candice as she screams when Josh and Emily noticed as they closed in.
"That's Candice!", Josh shouted.
"Hold on, Candice! Mommy and Daddy are coming!", Emily shouted before she then took the wheel, surprising Benson and then drove it near the lamppost, allowing Josh to grab Candice, although about to get sucked in when his show was stuck on the ceiling of the cart, luckily, before the cart caught up to Skips, who grabbed Pops while Candice landed on the back of Mordecai's head and sighed.
"Skips!", Pops shouted.
"You all right, Candice?", Josh asked.
"Yeah. I'm all right.", Candice responded.
"Oh, thank goodness...!", Emily sighed in relief while moving back from in front of Benson back to the passenger seat.
"What did you do?", Skips asked
"They were playing Rock, Paper, Scissors. Grab on!", Benson urged before Skips grabbed onto a bar.
"Don't you know that's an evil game?", Skips asked.
"Hold on, everybody!", Benson shouted.
"Hold on, everybody!", Pops shouted to Mordecai, who then shouted next.
"Hold on, every... Rigby!", Mordecai shouted upon noticing that half of Rigby's body was sucked into the black hole along with the chair, making Benson, Skips, Mona, Mela, Josh, Emily, and Candice gasp, but Benson drove the cart toward the garage door, pulling half of Rigby's body and the chair out of the black hole and continued driving up until he hit the garage door.
"What do we do?", Skips asked with a grunt.
"You have to break the tie!", Benson urged.
"Rigby, we have to end this! I'm gonna throw rock!", Mordecai shouted as he turned to Rigby.
"Yeah, right.", Rigby retorted.
"I'm not kidding!", Mordecai shouted in serious retorsion.
"Hurry up! Do it now!", Benson shouted before Mordecai and Rigby broke the tie, causing the black hole to explode, leaving the park in ruins before everybody got back up.
"Did you win? I think you've won.", Mordecai guessed as Rigby coughed while dusting his chest off before sighing.
"It doesn't matter. I wasn't able to hold on to the chair anyways.", Rigby spoke.
"Look!", Pops spoke before everyone noticed that half of the chair is still left.
"Aw, cool.", Mordecai and Rigby spoke in awe.
But Benson was furious at the screwup.
"No, you don't! You're not getting that chair! But here's what you do get. You get to flip that cart back over, you're throwin' that chair away, and then you're cleaning up this whole MESS! Pops, you're comin' with me. And you two idiots, if this isn't cleaned up when I get back, YOU'RE FIRED!", Benson shouted before sighing and then turning to Josh and Emily.
"At least you two were smart enough not to do what they did. You two can take a 30-minute break before you get back to work.", Benson assured before he walked into the house with Pops, Skips, Mona, and Mela following him before he closed the door.
"Okay, starting now, let's both promise not to do anything to screw this up. Agreed?", Mordecai suggested.
"Agreed.", Rigby agreed before speaking up at the same time Mordecai did in unison a moment later.
"Rock, paper, scissors for who gets to drive the cart?", both Mordecai and Rigby asked before they both shook their fists, attempting to settle who gets to drive it first only for Josh and Emily to slap both Mordecai and Rigby up on the head.
"Heck, no! We're not going through this again!", Emily rebuffed.
"Besides, there is another way to settle this. Why don't we just flip a coin to see who gets to do it?", Josh suggested.
"Okay. Seems harmless enough.", Candice agreed as Mordecai and Rigby concurred at the same time.
"Yeah, that's fair.", Mordecai nodded.
"I actually kinda like that one.", Rigby spoke at the same time.
A/N: So, what do you think? Pretty great, right? There will also be another chapter for Hulk and Red She-Hulk coming either tomorrow or Friday. :) Until next time.
