AN: Small change to canon: The Prewett Brother die a few years earlier than in canon.

Molly was in the kitchen, preparing dinner, when the owl arrived. The regal bird swooped in through the open window with a letter clutched in its beak. She wiped her hand on the apron and approached the owl, curious as to who had written them.

She took the letter from the owl, and it hooted softly before it took flight and disappeared into the distance. Molly looked down at the seal and her hands trembled when she spotted the distinct phoenix shape used by Albus Dumbledore. She tore open the letter, her eyes scanning the word quickly.

The world seemed to stop.

She gasped, her hand flew to her mouth in shock, "Oh my god! They killed Fabian and Gideon!"

Tear welled up in her eyes as she sank into the nearby chair. The letter slipped from her trembling hands and gut-wrenching sobs wracked her body as she tried to make sense of the news. Her brothers, gone. She would never again hear their infectious laughter.

Arthur rushed into the kitchen when he heard her cries, his face twisted in concern, "Molly, what's happened?" he asked as he knelt beside her and gathered her into his arms.

Through her tears Molly managed to choke out the dreaded words, "It's Fabian and Gideon. They're…they're gone."

Arthur held her tight, his own eyes welling up with tears. They stay like that for what felt like an eternity, grief washing over them in waves with no end in sight. The war had finally hit them in the most devastating way possible and Arthur knew they would never be the same.

*o*o*

Arthur stood in their small, cluttered living room, his hands clenched at his sides while his eyes pleaded with Molly. He knew she was still hurting. Still grieving for her brother, but he also knew that the damage from the war was only increasing as weeks turned into months.

He was torn. The thought of leaving Molly and their children alone, especially with another on the way, but he didn't know if he could sit idly by anymore, not when Dumbledore himself had written.

"Shouldn't we fight?" he asked, desperation crept into his voice, "Bring those who murdered Fabian, Gideon and countless others to justice?"

Molly looked up at him, her eyes were red and puffy from crying, "I can't lose you too!" she screamed, her voice breaking as fresh tears streamed down her face. She fell onto the couch and buried her face in her hands.

Arthur sat beside his wife and pulled her into a tight embrace, "Alright Molly. It's alright. I'm right here. I'm not going anywhere," he promised his distraught wife.
