"He's like an old soul," That's what many would say about the child.
Kevin was what his parents decided to call him, and although he had lost his mother at a very young age, his father had always been there for him.
David was a superhero, not that he let people know that, but he was a member of the Quadrumvir, which was formed by himself, Hero, Alexandria and Legend, and even back then, back when he had just first gotten his powers, he never thought he would have a child you know?
She was a beauty, and she somehow fell in love with David, who, for all the powers that he had, was far from being considered handsome, but they fell in love, and with that love, came their first child, Kevin.
Alyssa, Kevin's mom, had died on an incident which to this day, David assumed there was some foul play because it made no sense for her to die like that out of nowhere, even if his tinker powers told him that wasn't the case.
But Kevin never faltered, to many, people believed that Kevin held himself high because he didn't want his father to suffer alone, but the truth was a bit more complex.
The boy was a natural born perfect child, he never had to attract attention to himself, he learned how talk when he was barely one year old, the average for a baby to learn words and sentences is when they are three years old.
The worst part is that David knew Kevin was faking not knowing things in order to uplift him. Such as when Kevin asked his dad to tie his shoes, David had an suspicion at the time that Kevin already knew how to do it before he asked him by the fact that he managed to replicate it after seeing it once.
By the time Kevin was a pre-teen, he was already considered a genius by some, not that it mattered for the kid.
Truth was that Kevin was such a well mannered child that the biggest issue that David ever had with him was being in public with him, and that's because people always assumed that David wasn't his father, in their eyes, there was no way for David somehow managed to conceive Kevin, the two didn't match appearance wise at all, but one of his many thinker powers was able to tell that Kevin was indeed his, and that's all that mattered.
Then the child became older, a teenager, and even though David had learned a lot more about how children should behave, mostly because he talked with Rebecca and John about how their daughter behaved, and compared notes, because after all, David couldn't ask Contessa a way to path him knowing how to deal with his kid, since he was a natural blindspot.
But then it all changed in January, 2011, when his child was 16 years old, who had triggered, even though there was nothing to trigger about, David had talked about it to Jonathan, Keith and Rebecca, but they simply assumed that it was a possibility that he was a second gen cape, and as such, would require much less to trigger. In fact, the strangest part of it was that by Contessa's admission, Kevin had become a blindspot just like his dad was one of the few who could avoid her abilities.
David had decided to come home, and ask him about it, not sure how he would
"Dad, I... I have powers," Kevin had admitted before David even confronted him about it, he had simply came forward and told him about it.
"And what you want to do with it? Are you going to join the PRT?" David asked.
"I want to be a hero, I haven't done much research about where I would go to," Kevin said, but then that's the moment where David believed he could finally guide his son through.
"Then how about you come with me? I can teach you everything you need to know," David said with a smile as he ran away in an instant, coming up with his costume in less than a minute.
The boy's eyes were basically shining as he saw Eidolon in front of him, but even then, surprisingly so, hugged him so fast that David suspected that he had accidentally activated a Mover power by accident.
"You were already my hero Dad, this just confirms it," David, admittedly, felt a hundred times better after hearing his son say it aloud.
Father and son, who wore a simple mask for the time being, soon to be Hero and Ward, flew together to the Protectorate base, and many would take pictures and film since they couldn't figure out who was that with Eidolon.
Power testing went slowly, not because it was hard for Kevin, cape name pending, but there were so many things they had to test because Kevin could simply hold too many powers at once, between Changer, Thinker, Tinker, several Trump powers, he was easily a Trump 12, even when Kevin had told them he wasn't going all out.
Eidolon decided that he would train him, because who else would be able to handle him if not the only other Trump of his level that's not on the Birdcage?
But even then, Eidolon had decided to train his son to be prepared of everything, knowing that just like himself, his son would be instrumental to defeat Scion, even if he didn't want to rope his son into this, he surely wouldn't let his son aware of Cauldron's existence.
"So, son, do you have an idea to where you want to be a Ward? You know you can always stay here in Houston, but a lot of people are already asking for you to come to their department, regardless of being a Ward, and we haven't even revealed that you are my son," Eidolon said to Kevin, who had decided his cape name to be 'Teen Titan', humorously of course.
"I don't know, I haven't decided on anything yet, but I've heard things about Brockton Bay, something about having the biggest concentration of capes even though it's not even that big of a town?" Eidolon nodded, although hoping that he would choose somewhere else, as Brockton Bay had been selected for the Warlord experiment.
"Besides, I can always teleport, fly or run here in record time if it's necessary," Teen Titan continued his thought process.
"Well, I will go ask around and see if I can make this happen," Eidolon said, although what he meant was 'I will ask Contessa and the rest of Cauldron if there's any issue if I throw my son at the Warlord experiment and hope for the best'.
"Thanks dad, you're the best," His son said, which made Eidolon smile underneath his mask, he was indeed the best, after all, his son was a genius in several ways, if he said that he was the best, then he was the best.
