I do not own these characters; this fic was born from a conversation with a friend and fellow fanfic writer.

"Okay, that will be it for today, thank you everyone for coming," Kate Stewart, head of a secret organization called UNIT tells the fast growing group of former friends of the Doctor. She looks to see two of the group members sharing a private look. "I got to go and relieve Osgood."

"Bye Kate," Ace and Graham say together as they get up and put away their chairs.

"Do you have any plans tonight Ace," Graham is standing centimeters away from the alluring woman he met last October. He smells something that he hasn't before on her breath. It is a unique smell; a smell that he knows well but can't place.

"I do now, what do you want to do?" She smiles at the former bus driver, which makes his heart go all aflutter.

"Dinner?" He spits out.

"I'd love to," the two of them don't realize that they are being watched by Tegan, Ace's best friend. She watches as Ace pushes something further into her bag. Tegan wonders what else her friend could be hiding from her. Her friend laughs at something Graham said.

"Ace, wait up," Tegan catches up with her friends; she catches Ace blushing. "So you two have a date tonight?"

"What do you mean?" Ace doesn't think it is a date, considering they go out often and haven't kissed yet. Her eyes move to his lips and Tegan catches it and holds back a smile.

"The two of you are going to dinner," Tegan watches as they both try to come up with excuses for what is going on tonight. "Where are you having dinner, somewhere romantic?"

"No, Tegan. I was planning to have Ace meet me at our normal place."

"You two," she gestures between the two, "have a normal place? You go out together that much, and you say you aren't dating."

"We aren't, I just enjoy her company," Graham hopes the two women next to him can't see through it.

"You must really like spending time with Ace then."

"How can I not, you're her best friend. You know how Ace she is."

"Graham," his friend moaned, "please no."

"I had to, just wanted to see you smile."

"And flirt," Tegan gets their attention, "yes, I am still here."

"Is Nyssa going to wonder where you are?"

"Oh she is like me; wondering when the two of you will admit that you are more than friends. Though it seems like Ace is good at keeping secrets."

"What?" Ace looks between the two hoping they don't know about the beef stick that she has in her bag or the fact she is falling for the guy next to her. Well, more than she has already fallen for him.

"You seem to be keeping secrets from me, but I only noticed when you started hanging out with someone."

"I'm sorry,' Graham starts to walk away when Ace grabs his arm.

"Don't leave, Tegan," she glares at her friend, "was leaving to see her wife."

"I'm gone, you two don't go too crazy." Tegan walks away, but turns to watch as Ace slowly moves her hand away. "They need to admit it already. The two of them liking each other is the worst kept secret in UNIT." Tegan whispers to herself as she exits the building.

"So our normal place, or somewhere that Tegan can't find," asks Ace.

"I am sure that she can find any place Ace."

"That's true. How about the last place she will look."

"That would be where?"

"My place."

His eyes go wide remembering his dreams for weeks after he first went to her place. "Your house?" He tries not to croak.

"Is there something wrong with my place?"

"No, not at all." Graham thinks to himself, 'it smells like you everywhere. It does something to a man.'

"Graham," she tries to get his attention.

"Yes?"

"Is my place ok?"

"Sounds good."

"Good, should we head there now?"

"Let's," he lays his arm around her back as he guides her out. Both of them feel it's natural to be like this. When they arrive at her house both in their own cars, she lets them in.

"Look for something to eat, while I freshen up."

"Got it," Graham heads to the kitchen as Ace heads upstairs.

'You got this McShane; you are the one that suggested your place. You do like him, well you love him. He makes you laugh almost every time you talk. You should ask why he acted weird when you suggested that the two of us come here for dinner.' After changing into some hip hugging sweats and a loose shirt she makes her way to the kitchen.

'So I did smell something familiar on your breath today. You are sneaky,' Graham thinks as he finds a Landjaeger Beef Stick bag in her fridge.

"Did you find something Graham?"

He stands up and pushes the bag further into the fridge, "not yet."

"Here let me look," Ace slightly pushes Graham away from the fridge as she looks into it. "Hmm, looks like I don't have much in the way for two people, especially since one loves to eat."

"Oi," Graham laughs, "it's true and I love sharing my meals with you."

"We do tend to eat off each other's plates."

"Which says something as you encourage me to eat meat sometimes." Graham doesn't want Ace to know that he saw her Landjaeger in the fridge.

"Of course you do, I am not one of those people who hate others who eat meat. You are allowed to eat whatever you want; except people. I draw the line at cannibalism."

Graham laughs, "it's good that I draw the line there. That is one meat that I will never eat." She touches his arm. Both feel the electricity shooting through them with the touch. They both gaze at the others lips when Ace's phone rings and they jump apart. "I should get that."

Ace takes her phone out as Graham takes a deep breath, "hello Tegan."

"Someone doesn't sound happy."

"I was."

"With Graham, at your special place. Though you want to kiss him."

"Tegan," Ace lowers her voice, "if you're so obsessed with lips, why don't kiss your wife."

"Sounds like you need to do that with the guy you like."

"I am going to go eat with him."

"Eat with him or eat?"

"Goodbye Tegan." Ace hangs up before Tegan can say anything.

When Ace walks back into the kitchen, Graham is at the stove cooking. "I found some tofu. In the past few months, I have been looking up recipes and I decided to try one. Is that ok?"

"It's more than ok." She walks to the stove to get a better smell and look at what Graham is cooking. "This smells amazing."

"Thank you, why don't you get some plates and something to drink."

"On it," Ace turns around to get the plates out. She then sets the table and uses the time to watch Graham cook for them. After the table is set, the two of them sit down to eat.

"Tell me something not many know about you."

"Since I was a teenager, I have been going back and forth on whether I want to get married or not."

"And now?"

"It depends."

"Depends on what?"

"On if the person I like likes me back. What about you? Can you imagine yourself getting married again?"

"Only to one woman, but I don't know if she likes me."

Ace reaches across the table and lays her hand over Graham's; he looks at it and feels electricity shoot through him for a second time that night. "Everyone likes you Graham." They gaze into each other's eyes and heads start to move closer and closer when the doorbell goes off which makes them both jump apart as stung by a bee.

"Umm, I will help put dinner away, but I should head out after that."

"Oh."

"Ryan is leaving again soon."

"Then why did you ask me out, I am, ask if I was free?"

"Ryan had some plans with a few mates of his, and suggested that I do what I do most Saturday nights."

"We do spend a lot of time together."

"It is becoming my favorite thing, don't tell Ryan. I love my grandson, but I." The doorbell goes off again. "Should get going, it seems your visitor is impatient."

"I only know one person like that. She found us."

"Tegan?"

"The one and only," she sighs.

"Should I sneak out back?"

"She probably saw your car, so there is no point in doing that."

"Ok, let me do the dishes real quick."

"Don't worry about it, I'll do them later."

"Are you sure?"

"I am, now we should get moving before Tegan makes an unsavory joke." They make their way to the door.
