chapter 3 enjoy
Izuku, Iida, and Shoto are pondering the events of their fight with Stain. That's when Gran Torino and the chief of police walk in. He gives them a rundown of the information gathered and the cover story they will use to feed the media.
Izuku pinched the bridge of his nose, learning they must keep quiet about their battle.
The Pro heroes and police chief immediately notice Izuku's pained expression.
"What's wrong, Izuku?"
"I don't like lying to those close to me."
Gran Torino's first thought was the boy's mother. This line of thinking is shared with the police and Ingenium's right-hand man.
They were partially right about him telling his mother, but his mind included Momo. He values their friendship to the point lying to her repulses him.
"If you intend to tell those close to you, they better not break their silence. The consequences will be severe."
Izuku yawned as he lay back down, intending to get as much rest as possible. The next day, he was awakened by his All Might-themed ringtone. It was Momo, and there was no doubt she wanted to check in on him after the breaking news story on Stain.
Momo and her classmate Kendo are forced to wait on the pro hero Uwabami as she continues her modeling session. While Kendo is giving Uwabami her full attention, wanting to learn anything she can, Momo's mind is elsewhere. She tried to decipher the message she got from Izuku the other day, but all he sent was his presumed location. Then, the story about the hero killer Stain falling at the hands of Endeavor. After learning the truth of All Might's quirk, she doubts the article's validity.
Wanting to know the truth about what happened with Stain was eating away at her. It got so bad that she excused herself and called Izuku.
"Oh, thank god you picked up. I was getting worried after what happened the other day." Momo is so focused on checking in on Izuku that she speaks a little too loud, loud enough to alert Kendo and Uwabami. Their response is to eavesdrop on her phone call.
"Other than getting reprimanded, I'm fine. A little banged up after pushing past my limit, but I should be 100% with Recovery Girl's quirk. How's your internship going?"
"I'll tell you about it after our internships are over, and have a smooth recovery," she said before hanging up. That's when she noticed Kendo and Uwabami were too close for comfort.
"Mind going into detail," they said in unison with a smirk, causing Momo to blush.
"Just checking in on a friend after what happened the other day!"
"Understandable, but sounded like there was more to it than a simple check-in." Uwabami continued her smirk.
"It's not that! I was making sure. He—" She cringed at letting it slip that her friend was a guy.
"So it is a boy!" the two said in unison.
"Come, Momo. You can tell me. We're friends after all!" Kendo said lightly, elbowing her side.
"Not happening, Kendo," she said, looking away.
"Do you share the same homeroom?" the Pro hero added.
Momo only increased her angle as she looked away.
"So he's in class 1-A that narrows it down!"
"He's just a close friend, nothing more, nothing less!" she countered.
"For now," they rebuffed. The three returned to why they came to the modeling session.
Shoto and Iida recovered enough to finish their internship, leaving Izuki alone.
After three days in the hospital, Izuku was discharged. He needed to give Gran Torino a proper apology.
Once the internships were over, Izuku texted Momo to meet him at the beach. He didn't have to wait long.
"Would you mind telling me what happened with Stain?" she said, sitting beside him.
Taking a deep inhale, Izuku told Momo about his, Native's, Shoto's, and Iida's encounters with the hero killer.
"Damn, saying Stain showed you and Todoroki mercy doesn't even do the word justice."
"You can say that again. You better not tell anyone about this, or it's my head on the chopping block!"
"No argument here," she said hastily.
"Good, our fight did remind me when you mentioned getting some training with a weapon."
"Yeah, what about it?"
"Full-on weapon, no, but getting some armored gloves or something to block weapons like knives or polearms isn't a bad idea.
"I'm sure the support course can help you out there. That reminds me, those rabbit ears on your costume need to go. You look like an idiot with them."
"It will be a bad time to doubt your advice now!"
"That's what I wanted to hear. See you at school tomorrow!"
"Back at you!"
In one of the many training areas for UA students, Izuku, or his hero name, Deku, jumps from one metallic surface to another. The training zone he's in is modeled after an industrial park.
He isn't alone. He dodges attack after attack from Shoto Todoroki, a wielder of fire and ice. He is quickly cut off. Tenya Iida is coming at him with a fast, jet-powered kick. He effortlessly blocks the attack with his new metal-planted hero gloves enhanced by his One for All quirk.
He pushes Iida off himself before bolting to another surface as the two dodge another attack from Shoto.
From a safe distance away, one active, one retired, and one hero sidekick watch as their interns battle each other. They stand in a room with many monitors so they won't miss anything.
"A three-way battle is a hell of a training session. But I can't blame them. It took all three of them to stop Stain," Manual said.
"Indeed!" this time, it was Endeavor.
"This way, they will always be forced to fight two opponents at any given time," Gran Torino added.
The door to the room opened, letting the three students from Homeroom teacher Aizawa watch alongside them.
"Second and third-year students could learn something from these three."
"Thank you for reserving this room for us, Eraserhead."
"Not a problem, Endeavor, can't say the same for the rest of class 1-A."
"Do any of them know the truth about Stain?"
"Besides the parent of the three on-screen, everyone believes the press version of events."
"Good!"
Back with the three heroes, both Izuku and Shoto cornered Tenya. A timer alarm went off just before they were ten feet away, forcing the two to cut their attack short.
Izuku pulls out his phone. "It's been 60 minutes in the industrial zone."
"Next an hour in the residential zone," Shoto followed up.
"Then there is the skyscraper zone, and then our time is up for the day to use the school facilities," Tenya added.
"Lucky us, Aizawa sensei approved our request." Izuku finished.
Ironically, the three are on a first-name basis because of Stain, despite wanting to kill Tenya and Native.
They stood before the entrance to the industrial zone, waiting for it to open, and to no surprise, they heard a loud commotion as the door opened.
Once they stepped through, they saw the rest of class 1-A getting back on their feet. Even Bakugo showed up to watch. It was painfully apparent that they had been watching from the zone walls, wanting to see their free-for-all fight.
Well, the guys got back on their feet, and the girl floated down to the ground, thanks to Momo and Ochaco's use of their quirks to create a levitating platform for them.
"Where to next?" Momo asked.
"Residential zone, then skyscraper," Shoto answered.
Seeing his classmates reminded Izuku of how they found out about their private training session.
Flashback start
On the first day after the internship, the trio of Izuku, Shoto, and Tenya, especially Tenya, had a lot to think about.
Fortunately, Izuku caught a break from All Might, telling him the Origin of his quirk.
"Something on your mind about All for One Izuku?"
"No, my mind won't drop my fight with Stain. It took three of us to stop him, which doesn't include him breaking free."
Toshinori didn't respond, telling the young hero he was pondering what he said.
"You want to train to master One for All and gain battle experience with your Quirk, Correct?" Izuku nods.
"You know you can request to use a testing ground for training whenever school is not in session," he said. Izuku looked surprised when he heard this revelation.
"It's probably a good idea to invite Shoto and Tenya, too. I suspect they're dealing with the same emotions right now."
"You're right!" Izuku said before bolting out the door. A few moments later, he walked back.
"What the matter?"
"How do you send this request to the school?" Toshinori can only chuckle at this before telling.
"Thanks All Might!"
He met Shoto and Tenya at lunch and told them what he had learned, and they agreed to group training.
Once the class was done for the day, they went to the school administration section to fill out their request form. Now, all they have to do is hope they get permission. They will get their answer by Friday.
Once class was over for the day, Aizawa said, "Midoriya, Todoroki, Iida." The three approached their homeroom teacher.
"Yes," they said in unison.
"Your request has been approved. You have from noon to five tomorrow," a look of excitement overtook the three.
This interaction was noticed by their classmates. As soon as they stepped out of their homeroom door, the rest of Class 1-A stared down, wanting to know more.
"We sent a request to use the training zone tomorrow," Shoto answered for the three of them.
The rest of class 1-A immediately went to Eraserhead to learn more.
Taking the lead, Mina asked about their three classmates who just left.
"The three request to use the testing zones for training tomorrow."
"Can we watch them from the surveillance room?" This time, Momo is speaking up.
"no, but if you want to watch from the sideline, you can despite not getting the best view," he informed before leaving.
When the three UA students met up on Saturday, they were greeted by the rest of Class 1-A.
"We asked Aizawa Sensei what you three planned for today," Kirishima said.
"You're more than welcome to watch us from the sideline," Shoto said, leading them into the training zone.
Flashback end
The rest of class 1-A followed them to the respective zone, standing on the sideline, getting as good a view as possible.
While the rest of her classmates watch in awe as the three Practise battle against each other. Momo was more concerned since Izuku had told her the truth.
When their allotted time was up, the three battled in four zones, totaling a five-hour training session.
Once done, they walk back to the school entrance with the rest of class 1-A behind them.
"Either I've gotten slower, or you two have gotten faster," Shoto stated.
"I agree with Shoto regarding your speed quirk, Tenya!" Izuku added.
"I notice your attacks have gotten more precise, Shoto." This time, Tenya is speaking.
They continued to point out each other's improvements until they were forced to split up and head home for the day.
