Chapter 10: The ugly truth
Nya's POV
"Why did Kai have to get knocked out? He would of been so useful here." I say in the dark. It's pitch black, like a moonless night.
"Oh look, a light switch." Says Jay, flipping it on. The lights flicker before illuminating the room. It's way bigger then you would of expected, and more of a basement then a actual room. I look around and see a giant machine at the back of the room, filled with cobwebs.
"What the hell..?" Harumi whispers, getting closer to the machine.
"Maybe it's some sort of filing machine? Since the city is pretty, you know, advanced, maybe they built this so people wouldn't have to suffer from papercuts anymore?" Cole suggests. I shudder at the thought.
"Right… so then," Jay runs past Harumi, nearly pushing her over. "There has to be a power button somewhere!" Both me and Harumi walk up to him, and I blow the dust off the massive desk-sized keyboard.
"What about this one?" Coughs Harumi, pointing to a big button with the words 'ON/OFF'.
"Good eye Harumi!" Beams Cole, pressing the button. The machine turns on, and the left and right monitors shine a sky blue. In the main monitor, a big white search bar comes up.
"Who's information do you wish to find?" Says the computer in a metallic voice. I lean over the keyboard and start typing.
"Lloyd Garmadon. L-L-O-Y-D…
G-A-R-M-A-D-O-N."
"Access denied. Such Information has been taken or removed."
"What?" Shouts Jay. "Stupid piece of junk!"
"Can you tell us when the information was taken?" Harumi prompts.
"16/3/8809. Earlier this morning at 7:32 am. "
"What year is it..?" Cole asks with confusion written all over his face.
"Wait… what about information on Ninjago? N-I-N-J-A-G-O?" I ask.
"Ninjago. A sister realm to Dragon Echo. Ninjago is home to many creatures, such as humans, meropians, serpentine, dragons, and many more. Would you like to know more?" It replies.
"Yes. Does time work the same here as it does in Ninjago?"
"No. Ninjago moves at a much slower time. Though Scientists have not found the reasoning behind this, they believe that it might be a mistake on the creators behalf, or, that the creator of DragonEcho made the realm much much quicker."
I gulp.
"…do you have information on the war of Echoing hearts?"
"The War of Echoing Hearts is a ancient battle that took place thousands of years ago, though some believe it to be a myth. The War of Echoing Hearts soon turned into a everlasting war between both sides, after the famous saviours vanished. Do you want more information?" I feel as though I'm about to vomit. I slam my fist into into the off button.
"Nya are you-" Jay starts.
"We never stopped the war from happening like we said we did. We just made it worse."
"What are you talking about?" Cole asks.
"We were on both teams remember? We failed them. Failed them all. We said we were doing good…but we only made things worse. And now Lloyd… we left him. We fucking left him in the middle of it. And who knows what he's like now? If he's even alive?! Master Wu…he's not even that old." The room is silent and a single tear drops down my face.
"No. I refuse to believe that." Harumi murmurs. "Lloyd didn't give up on me, so I'm not giving up on him. I'm gonna find him, wherever he's an old man or a scrap of bones. I'm going to say sorry, once and for all."
"Yeah, we still need to find out what happened to him anyway." Cole urges.
"And if he's still out there… we'll find him." Jay reassures me. I wipe away my tears before walking away from the machine.
"We're gonna stop this war, once and for all." I exit the room with a sense of guilt and anger. I have only myself to blame.
