Chapter 17: Imposter
Kai puts his hands on the shower wall to hold himself up. He was so dizzy…
He turns the water off and grabs his towel, before putting on his gi and walked to his room, trying not to fall over. No, he had to stay strong. He didn't have time to be dizzy, or hurt or sick. He needed to keep fighting, Lloyd would do the same for him.
Kai's hand missed the wall and he fell onto the floor, making a hard thudding noise. The blurry images of Jay and Nya crowding around him were his last memories before he faded away into a dark slumber.
Kai woke up, surrounded by snow. He stood up and found that his head was fine that his arm was healed. He looked around in a daze before spotting Lloyd standing so close in front of him. The stone that they were standing on cracked and he reached for Lloyd.
"Lloyd!" He shouted. Through watery eyes Kai watched as Lloyd fell, and he had been no use. Kai's heart pounded as his hand reached over the edge, and he fell to his knees in pain. Tears flooded his eyes and he let out a scream, barely heard against the snow. A cold hand touched his shoulder and he turned around to find the masked Ragestone figure watching him.
"Who are you?" He asked. The figure put a finger to their lips.
"Who are you?!" He screamed. "You have Lloyd don't you? Where is he?"
"Why don't you come find out?" The figure let out a cold, metallic laugh before gently pushing Kai over the edge. Kai screamed and watched as he too was let in the cold snow.
Kai woke up, almost slamming his head against the top bunk before a hand shot out and caught him.
"Kai, are you okay?" Asked Misako from beside him, she was sitting in a chair.
"Y-yeah. Just… had a bad dream."
"Oh, I remember when Lloyd used to have those. He told me that taking a walk would help. Maybe you should try that?"
"I don't know. Where's everyone else?" He asked, getting up.
"They already left. Nya and Jay found you fainted in the hallway."
"Oh… they didn't say goodbye…?"
"They said finding Lloyd was urgent, and well, you weren't waking up."
"Well, I don't have anything else to do. I'll take a walk."
"That sounds good." She said, standing up. "I'll make some dinner for you. It's been a very long day." How long had it been since he was out?
"What about Wu? Is he ok?" Asked Kai, standing up as well.
"Oh don't worry. Thanks to you he'll be just fine."
"Great." Mumbled Kai, scratching his head and picking at the dried blood.
"Don't pick at that. The Ragestone dagger clearly has done something to you, not to mention your elemental powers. Once you come back from your walk, I'll have a nice pot of stew ready for you." Beamed Misako, leaving the room.
"Ragestone dagger…?" Kai muttered. He didn't tell anyone that it was a dagger. Or even known himself. He raced out the door and climbed up the stairs.
"Misako!" He called. Misako caught him and put her hands on his shoulder.
"Kai! You're awake!" She smiled. "Why do you look so-"
"You were just in my room! You talked to me, you said that the person that attacked me had a Ragestone dagger and that you were going to make stew and that I should take a walk and-" Kai blurted.
"Kai, slow down. I wasn't in your room, I was just about to come and check on you actually." She frowned.
"What no-"
"Kai, you're clearly hallucinating. Go back to bed. Now." Kai stared at the floor.
"Yes Mrs Garmadon." He whispered, turning around and walking down the stairs. No, that wasn't a hallucination. She was there, she had felt him. Had the figure down something to him?
"The Ragestone dagger clearly has done something to you, not to mention your elemental powers."
Kai tried to summon a flame in his fingers before giving and collapsing on his bed.
He did see another Misako.
He wasn't hallucinating.
He just needed to figure out who the hell had attacked him and where they were keeping Lloyd.
