Hey everyone, welcome to my first story! A few notes first:
1) This is set after season 3 but does not include season 3 characters (I love Bella, I just needed to have Emma in for a specific reason that will be explained later)
2) They did replace their lockets with crystals (I hated when it happened in the show but for this story it's necessary)
3) English is not my first language and I wrote this with the help of a translation program so apologies for any weird sounding phrasing or grammar errors
4) I'm a first time writer so this will most likely not be as long or well written as some of the other AMAZING stories out there
Disclaimer: I don't own H2O or any of the characters
Enjoy :)
The sun was high in the sky on another beautiful day of the Australian summer. Cleo, Emma and Rikki were walking along the shore , looking out to sea. It's been a week since they graduated from school and Zane's hunt for crystals made the moon pool lose its magic. So far, none of the girls had revisited the place that once was their second home, meeting up at a secluded beach instead whenever someone needed to talk. But deep down they knew it wasn't the same.
"Do you think it's worth going back? After everything that's happened?" Cleo asked, her voice sounding uncertain. "I don't know about you guys but I just can't leave it all behind like that."
Rikki nodded, a spark of excitement in her eyes. "Yeah, we've been through too much to just walk away."
Cleo smiled. "Then it's settled. We go back. Mako Island is a part of us, with or without the moon pool."
And so, with a shared nod, the decision was made. The next morning they were off to the place where their mermaid journey had begun. The sun painted the sky with hues of pink and gold as they approached the familiar water's edge.
The once majestic moon pool lay in ruins, its shattered remnants scattered across the sand. Cleo, Emma, and Rikki approached the debris with a sad look on their faces, the sun casting a pale glow over the remnants of their magical past.
Cleo knelt down to pick up pieces of crystalline rock. "It's strange, isn't it?" she mused, her voice carrying a mix of nostalgia and acceptance. "After all we've been through, it's really over."
Emma, eyes fixed on the destroyed rock wall, sighed. "The moon pool may be gone, but we're still mermaids. That's not something we can just forget."
Rikki, focused on scanning the surroundings, chimed in, "Well, at least we don't have to worry about moon cycles and sudden power upgrades caused by the pool anymore."
The trio shared a bittersweet laugh. As they worked together, memories resurfaced with each piece of rock they handled. The moon pool had been the center of their adventures, and its destruction marked the end of an era.
Emma, gathering debris along the water's edge, spoke up, "Remember the first time we came here? We had no idea what we were getting into."
Cleo chuckled, holding another piece of rock in her hands. "Our lives were never the same after that."
They shared stories of their mermaid days, recalling the challenges they faced and how their friendship always kept them together.
As the sun dipped below the horizon, Cleo, Emma, and Rikki stood on the now cleaned shores of the moon pool. The remnants were neatly piled in the corner of the cave.
The journey back home took them along the familiar reefs and onto their secluded beach on the mainland where they could dry off without being seen.
The walk home along the streets was a mix of silence and casual conversation. They spoke about the future, the possibilities awaiting them. With that, they parted ways, each stepping into their homes, still thinking about everything that had happened.
