She sat at the kitchen table, alone, listening to the soft tunes playing from the speaker. Her-their children already went home. She knew that they all had things to get to, but couldn't they put aside some time to mourn their loss? The house was quiet, too quiet, and she felt a loneliness that hadn't made an appearance since her days running away from her family. She was truly alone now. Her Seaweed Brain was gone.

After a tiring day at work, and with his age catching up to him, a group of monsters managed to overpower him, and they found his scarred and bloody corpse hours after sunrise.

The funeral was small and quiet, with all of his close friends and family. Annabeth felt sick the entire time; she hated the feeling of leaving without some sort of closure, and was haunted by all the deaths that occured in a demigod's stressful life.

Now, after the funeral, she sat alone at the dinner table, with an empty feeling that seemed ready to soothe her to sleep. She looked at the Minotaur horn hung on the wall, and the photos of her and him and their children, smiling happily at the camera. She smiled sadly, thinking of all the memories they made, from their first meeting when they were twelve, to their last, when they said goodbye to each other before work. She hated how much losses affected her, even if she knew they would meet again. It was partly the reason why she disliked forming attachments, but it was worth it, and it will always be worth it. All the pictures hung up on the walls, were simply snapshots of their highs, but it was the lows that counted. It was their unwavering loyalty to each other, even during the most difficult of times. It was their love, the bond that held them together, that counted, and she knew it wouldn't fade anytime soon.

"Wait for me in Elysium, Seaweed Brain."

dedicated to all those who lost someone they loved.
