"Mom,"Ananias asked after Anna had just finished making a successful sale with her most recent customer, "do you mind if I steal you away for a bit?"

Checking to see if she had any more customers left to attend to, and with none to be found (at the moment), Anna turned to her son and gave him a small smile and an affirmative nod. "Sure, I've got time." Ananias then quietly led his mother to the back of the shop, where the shop's inventory was stationed. When Ananias then led his mother towards a crate which she did not recognize (which was odd, considering the fact that she made it a point to check her inventory at least once a morning in case something was amiss) and silently began to pry it open (for it had been sealed shut), Anna, worried about her son, especially after what had transpired the last time they'd talked, slowly and gently reached out for one of his shoulders, which prompted Ananias to halt what he was doing and give his mother his attention (though with his back still turned), and quietly asked, "Honey, is everything alright?"

Ananias nodded before resuming the task of opening the crate with the unknown contents. "Yeah, why do you ask?" he asked, and despite the fact that, on the surface, Ananias' voice was just as unemotional and as distant as it usually was, his mother could detect the dejectedness in it.

Anna, surprisingly, sheepishly let go of her son's shoulder and averted her eyes to the side uneasily. "It's just… after what happened-"

"What happened between the two of us was my fault," Ananias said. "I got mad for no reason." It was at that moment that he had successfully gotten the crate he was prying opened. He took the top off and took a look inside to verify the fact that what he had intended to be inside the crate was indeed there. When it was, he turned around and shamefacedly said, "I'm really sorry about what happened." He then gestured towards the crate behind him and added, "I hope this'll be enough to make it up to you."

Anna gave her son a curious look before making her way to the crate and taking a look inside. When she found out what was inside however, she couldn't help but let out a squeal of delight. "Oh my gosh!" She then reached into the crate and pulled out a teddy bear that was similar to the ones attached to her and her son's swords, but unlike those teddy bears, this one was giant and life-sized, and she squealed even more when she cuddled with it and realized that it was made with some of the softest material she had ever felt. She squealed happily again. "It's so cute!" She looked back at her son and playfully asked, "Did you really go out of your way to get this for little old me?"

Ananias nodded. "Yeah, we've got a cousin who specializes in making this type of stuff, so I made the order and kept it a secret up until now."

Anna quickly went to her son's side and gave him a great big hug, a hug so great, in fact, that she even managed to lift him off the ground, much to his surprise. "Oh thank you, thank you, thank you!" She then put him down and placed her hands on his shoulders proudly. "You even made sure to purchase from another Anna, thus making sure that the Anna family didn't lose any money whatsoever!" She then playfully pinched one of his cheeks and added, "I'm just so proud of you!"

Ananias simply sighed before gently tapping his mother's hand off of his cheeks and asking, "So I'm forgiven?"

Anna let out a small gasp before giving her son a small smile and nod and answering, "Of course you're forgiven. Heck, I would've forgiven you even without the gigantic teddy bear. If anything, I should be the one apologizing to YOU." She ran her hand through Ananias' hair and played with it as she spoke. "It must've been tough, having to go through all of that once and constantly being reminded of how different you were compared to the rest of the family." She frowned, before quietly adding, "I can't imagine how terrible it must've been for you… going through all of that a second time, especially with me insisting on helping you to become a 'real Anna' and all." She gave Ananias a sad smile. "That was really insensitive of me, wasn't it?"

Ananias shook his head. "No it wasn't. It was my own fault for allowing myself to go through all of that again, not yours. You didn't know what I'd gone through, and I didn't bother telling you." Ananias averted his eyes to the side sheepishly. "And the teddy bear… well, you know, I didn't want to take any chances."

Anna frowned. "You didn't want to take any chances?" she repeated uneasily. She then cupped one of Ananias' cheeks into one of her hands and asked, "Honey, what do you mean by that? What chances are we talking about here?"

Ananias gulped nervously. He knew that he would probably have had to answer this question, but that didn't help the fact that it was still extremely hard for him to spit the answer out. After fidgeting nervously for a bit, Ananias softly answered, in a cracked voice, "The chance of losing you again."

Anna's eyes softened as she let out a small gasp of surprise. She then pulled her son into a comforting hug and reassuringly said, "That's not going to happen, kiddo. It may have happened once, but I definitely won't let it happen again." She then let go of her son to give Ananias the usual look and posture that she was famous for, the index finger on her face, the playful wink, and the impish smile. "And that's a lifetime guarantee that you can definitely believe in."

Ananias simply stared at her in what Anna thought was astonishment, but much to her surprise, Ananias shook his head sadly. "No," he said softly. "No, you don't understand."

Anna's eyes widened in surprise. "What?" She placed a gentle hand onto one of her son's shoulders and asked, "Then what is it that I don't understand?" When Ananias hesitated to answer Anna's question, Anna moved herself in order to get into her son's line of vision, smiled reassuringly, and said, "You don't have to tell me if you don't want to sweetie."

Ananias simply shook his head. "No, I… I have to." He paced around nervously for a few moments before taking a deep breath to further calm his nerves, and say, with clenched fists, "Do you know what it's like? Having a big family with lots of siblings who look and act exactly like your mom?" He turned to said mother, with, much to her surprise, unshed tears at the corners of his eyes. "Even though I knew that they weren't you, everywhere I went, whether they were already dead when I got there, or if they were alive, but died in order to protect me," Ananias shook his head sadly, "it was like I was losing you over and over again." The tears slowly started to run down his face. "And now that I'm here, I have a chance to be with you again, but what do I do? I lose my temper over something stupid and I risk losing you all over again… only this time, it wouldn't be because of Grima or the Risen. It'd all be because of my own damn fault!" He looked over Anna's shoulder to see the (almost) forgotten teddy bear still lying inside its crate. "I couldn't take any chances. I couldn't."

It was then that Ananias was pulled into a great big hug from his mother, who, surprisingly, was crying just as much as her son was. "You dolt!" Anna cried, surprising herself with just how much foreign emotion she was currently displaying. She (and, by extension, her sisters) was always known for being lively and chipper, and with how little she and her sisters saw each other and how little she saw familiar faces, Anna usually didn't have much to grow attached to. Just set up shop somewhere, try her luck, and then move on to the next town or city whenever she felt ready, or whenever she felt that it was needed. That all changed when she got married, having bonded, unexpectedly, to the husband she honestly thought she'd never have, but even then, she'd never shown THIS side of her to anyone; heck, she almost forgot that she even had this side to her. It had really been that long.

Now here she was, sympathizing with the son she never thought she'd ever have and doing everything in her power to comfort him, no matter how awkwardly it may have been for her. "You had no chance of losing me in the first place!" She looked up at her son, who still had tears in his eyes, but was looking at his mother in bewilderment. She then smiled reassuringly as best as she could, despite the fact that her face probably looked like one big, crying mess right now. "You may not be an Anna, but trust me when I say that I'd never leave you over something as stupid as a little temper tantrum!" She then once again cupped her son's cheek into her hand and added, "And why would I? Because as far as I'm concerned… I ended up with a pretty good kid."

It was at that moment that Ananias finally broke down. There he stood, having melted into his mother's arms, crying harder than he had ever cried in a long time, and screaming out, "I'm sorry!"

Overcome with emotions Anna had long forgotten that she had, she held her son tightly and, bawling just as much as her son was, uncontrollably screamed, "I'm sorry too!"

And the two stood there, crying in each other's arms, as the giant teddy bear sat in its crate, unfortunately completely forgotten… at least, for the moment.
